My experience at this restaurant was super disappointing. So much so, I found it necessary to log back into my yelp account just to write this. I made reservations for my girlfriend and I, thinking we were going to have an amazing view with amazing food. To my surprise, only one of those happened to be true. We started with the Dungeness crab appetizer that comes with a dijon mustard sauce for $23. When it came out it was already de-shelled and dipped into the sauce. I grabbed a piece and it was freezing cold, watery, and smelled fishy. I immediately knew it was frozen. The dijon sauce had no hint of mustard and just tasted like mayo. I asked a staff member if the crab was frozen, which they replied yes it was. I thanked the staff for being honest with me and we ate it because we were hungry and also scraped off the sauce while doing so. I was apprehensive on entrees after the appetizer but I ordered the 8oz filet mignon (medium rare) with garlic mashed potatoes for $70. My girlfriend ordered the fresh northwest halibut for $58. Our entrees were immediately served to us when we finished the appetizer. The mashed potatoes were terrible, even a frozen banquet meal would have been better. Cutting into my steak was even more disappointing. The crust of the steak was a quarter of an inch thick and overly salted. The coloring on the inside was off as well. The Halibut was okay. The blackberry beurre blanc was barely on the dish and she got 2 bites in and didn't want anymore. It was underwhelming and not at all the level of food we were expecting. I come from a culinary background and was so shocked to know that consumers are paying this much money for poorly executed food. The manager came out and asked what we didn't like about the food and while explaining the appetizer was frozen she cut me off and told me that it wasn't and that she was there that morning to see the shipment come in to know that. Now I've had not the best food, cut off, and lied to. We explained why we didn't like our entrees and she apologized with an attitude and took our plates back to the kitchen. We stayed to finish our bottle of champagne and they didn't charge us for our food. The manager returned to give us two $20 dollar gift certificates to return, we left them on the table because we will not be doing so. The Leschi location is a little far from the main interstate but it gives great views of Lake Washington and Mt Rainier on a clear day. Keep in mind you will have an auto 20% service charge on your bill and it is documented and should not be a surprise to anyone. The place was empty with capacity low due to covid, however, prices are up, service was not great, food was a bit lacking, For the price of this place you expect amazing food. We had the Rib eye and Fillet. They came out just ok. Our potatoes very cold. We asked for fresh ones and received them about 10 min later. If you are going to charge me that much for a steak then dazzle me... Not a fan of this place... Great view for sure. I will stick to my other Steak houses that perform higher and cost less. read more

Never ate at the Leschi location but we loved it! The views were amazing! It's a smaller place but the views make up for it. Went on a Sunday and parking was easy. Service was impeccable! And so was the food. Started with popcorn shrimp, clam chowder and onion soup. All very good but the chowder was chowder. The salmon and filet were cooked to perfection and of course they have the best garlic mash. We went for restaurant week and what a deal. The desserts which were apple cobbler like and vanilla creme brûlée. I was expecting a more vanilla flavor. But overall wonderful dining experience. read more

I'd been dying to check out Daniel's Broiler since I heard about the new vegan menu a few months ago. My boyfriend is a meat eater and is always disappointed I never want to go to steakhouses so this seemed like a good compromise. We picked up some gift cards at Costco and saved some money and we lucked out and showed up during Seattle Restaurant Week so he saved even more. I was disappointed that the ravioli dish I wanted to order was not on the vegetarian menu when I arrived even though it was listed on the website online. I sent them an email to let them know and the situation has since been remedied which I am quite impressed by. Apparently Leschi is the smallest location and has removed this from the menu, but it will still be available at the other two locations. I plan to check out one of these sometime soon. Even though I did not order what I came there to get I was pleasantly surprised by what I did have. My mixed green salad with the creamy agave mustard dressing was quite tasty. I really loved the Kimchi fried gains and rice. This was really unique and so tasty. I do think that the tofu could have used some sauce, but its not every day you find a truly different dish. It was also quite big and made for a tasty meal the next day. My boyfriend was also very happy with his SWR meal of a 5 oz steak, salad and dessert for 33$. He was slightly annoyed he had to pay 1$ to have anchovies in his caesar. He also complained that the crème brulee was too big, but he's just silly. After shutdown, however, prices are up, service was not great, food was a bit lacking, drinks tasted very watered down and their outdoor seating area was not prepped well for customer- spiders and cobwebs everywhere, smelled of natural gas. And although it's great waiters wear gloves, it does not put off a good appearance when they're dirty. For such a premium price tag, now is not the time you'll get your moneys worth at the Leschi location. read more

We went to Daniel's Broiler Leschi for our anniversary dinner this year. We had a $100 gift card which helped with the check ($220 for 2 people). The food was superb. Between us we had the filet mignon teriyaki strips to start which tasted incredible, just as good as you could imagine. Then we split the caesar salad which, for me, is a great way to judge a restaurant and I was not disappointed. For entrees, I got the 12oz New York steak with mashed potatoes. Usually I am a chicken-eater but when the occasion is right I will get a steak. I definitely made the right decision here because the steak was delectable. The mashed potatoes were rich, creamy, and smooth. My date had the Pan-roasted Jidori Chicken, which, according to the menu is a specialty. Indeed it is. The flavors were light but satisfying and it was cooked very nicely. Both the steak and the chicken tasted great as leftovers the following day as well - a true test of quality. The service was fine - not overbearing nor sparse. When we arrived I told the maitre'd the name for the reservation (7:30pm on a Friday, we arrived at 7:29pm) and we were told it would be just a minute. After a few minutes the maitre'd returned and spoke on the phone with a patron for a few more minutes before another staff member came and seated us. We noted in the reservation that the occasion was an anniversary and we believe they sat us in the spot they did for that reason. It was a nice booth at the south end of the restaurant but views of Lake Washington were limited by the amount of light inside and the lack of light outside. Our waiter was nice and exemplified the "fine" service. Food came promptly, all three rounds of it. I appreciated how often our water glasses were topped off by the waterboy who made frequent rounds. All in all, a nice dinner with very good food and a fairly nice atmosphere. We would absolutely go again, preferably with another $100 gift card. My least favorite of the Daniel's locations. I've been dining at their other outposts for years (check the reviews if you like; shameless plug) and have always had a good experience. Unfortunately, it wasn't the same here. Came in for restaurant week as their menu looked really promising. Long story short, ordered the salmon, it came out frigidly cold and needed to be sent back and refired. My dining companion had their pork entree come out undercooked and it needed to be touched up. The brought the fixed entrees and they were tasty, then moved on to dessert. Both had the creme brulee and it had almost congealed under the sugar layer, neither of us could eat it. They offered to replace them as well, but it was near the end of the night and we just wanted to get out of there. Ended up spending over $100, which isn't a lot, but it was money not well spent in this case. The manager came over and apologized for the experience, explained that Daniel's holds itself to high standards (which I know from my hundreds of other visits to their other locations) and was very sincere in his message. I won't discourage people from visiting Daniel's Broiler, I just expected more from this experience. read more

We were celebrating my husband's bday. We went on a quiet Sunday night. Everything was great except a couple of things. My steak was BURNT. My bad, I really did not think about bringing it up until it was 1/2 eaten (courtesy of my two boys tryIng it out ). I had a 16oz RibeYe. The waiter refused to take it off the bill and instead she brought a some bread pudding? After spending $700 for 4 guests (brought our own wine), I feel the experience did not justify the $$$ spent plus feel we were overcharged. It really could be a zero stars but I had to pick one. So we arrived by boat with a group of 10 for dinner. The restaurant was not busy. I ordered just a 7-up and the waiter brought me wine. Not a big deal, but it might have been if I was a recovering alcoholic! Than I ordered the clam chowder. This was thee oddest clam chowder EVER. I am not sure what the chef was thinking but tasted like cilantro. Than we ordered the bacon wrapped scallops. The bacon was raw and the scallps were burnt on the outside and raw in the middle. At this caliber of a restaurant we expected closer to perfection on these two basic items. We stopped there and our bill was stilll super expensive! My friends and I came here during restaurant week. Gorgeous view of the water. Managed to grab a 1/2 priced appetizer and $3 off wine during happy hour before our reservation. The crispy artichoke hearts with hollandaise sauce were incredible! For my 3 courses, I ordered the clam chowder, 5oz filet mignon with peppercorn sauce and garlic mashed potatoes; and apple cobbler for dessert. The steak was cooked perfectly; medium rare how I ordered. The timing of each course was perfect; we didn't have to wait very long after we finished our appetizer before we got our main course. By tipping les or not at all the. The customer should have the right to tip as they fill appropriate. At Daniels management pays the smallest minimum wage that is passable, commissions are taken out of the tips, and to get any benefits the employee has to work 40 hour a week. Management keep all servant on a short work week so they do not have to pay any benefits. Then I assume they pockets the remaining tips. Every person need to boycott all restraints that add a full-service charge to the bill. All employees of these restraints that ADD a full-service charge should unionize. Expensive, but the service, the food, and the view/atmosphere is so worth it. Service: Super! We always had a full-glass of iced-water, and the waitress made sure we were okay the entire night. They gave us room to relax and dine too. Food: AMAZING. I fell in love with their calamari (it wasn't hard but cooked to the right temperature and the sauce complimented the calamari), and my pan roasted garlic chicken tasted flavorful. The mash potatoes and chicken were juicy and not dry and hard. Lastly, the portion was good! It filled you enough but not to the point where you can't finish and need it to-go. View: You see Mt. Rainier and Bellevue. And the water and boats. It is a different view and beautiful! The atmosphere is calm, relaxing and romantic/intimate. I came here for my birthday so I got a dessert brownie. There's so much wasted potential. They have a great view but that's about the best thing. I've been here twice now. Once in 2019 during restaurant week and last night. A year ago the restaurant week I remember the food being mediocre, maybe not even worth the $35. More like a $20 meal. Last night we had reservations but they told us flat out we had to leave by a certain time for the next reservation. Something about them being at 25% (not sure what that's about, we've been at 50% phase 3 for awhile). Even if they had a valid point, a restaurant that is supposed to be this classy and is that expensive it's appalling they'd tell us we had leave at a certain time even though that was 2 hours away. The server overheard my friends saying they'd never come back because of that and apologized for herself but said host would probably still come ask us to leave if we weren't gone before our time was up. We had no intention of overstaying our reservation so that was drama for no good reason. That aside. I ordered crab bisque, cup for $12. Decent but nothing special. Again, for the prices here, they didn't want to even provide bread and butter. We joked that a certain Australian themed steakhouse would have been a better experience for less money. At least they give you warm bread with the meal. On to dinner. I ordered.$50 salmon. It was good, if small ish portion. It was prepared well, I like to be fair and give credit. But it had no side dishes. Nothing. No steamed asparagus. No mashed potatoes. Really for a $50 dish you can't throw in a couple of good sides? Again, something the Australian themed steakhouse chian would do. I ordered iced tea. The server was nice but I had to ask for a refill. Inexcusable for a restaurant at this price point. They should be bringing you a carafe of tea. You should never have to ask for refills on coffee or tea. Dessert I had baked cookie with ice cream. Pretty good. Would have liked a bigger scoop of ice cream but that's minor. Friend had cheesecake who said it was totally lame. For $12 I'd expect house made with some house made organic strawberry vanilla compote but sounds like it was more like cheesecake from a factory. The first visit in 2019 I didn't write a review since it was my only visit. The second visit now I am confident in my opinion that this place is sub par for the price. My husband and I wanted to have a nice dinner in and ordered Daniel's Broiler to go. What a disappointment. I ordered the halibut with an heirloom tomato salad - $52 - and received a dry piece of fish...could have passed for overcooked piece of chicken and the heirloom tomato salad was a bunch of croutons with tiny scraps of tomatoes. My husband's clam chowder had shells in it. Overall terrible experience and will never order from Daniel's Broiler again - overpriced, poorly prepared and low quality food. Overall I had an enjoyable experience but given the prices and some missteps in the food/drink department 3.5 stars is an accurate rating. I bumped my rating up to 4 stars here since the Havana Rose Cocktail + Popcorn Shrimp + the view are amazing. My boyfriend and I arrived at 6:30 on a Saturday for our reservation and had the option to sit outside (south side of the restaurant) or take a seat indoors. Since it was a pleasant evening we went with outside. Yes the view is great. It's right on the water and overlooks Bellevue. The deck was reasonably full but there were open tables both inside and out. We wanted to try a variety of cocktails so here we go! First I went with the Strawberry Basil Martini (Sipsmith gin, strawberry, basil, Lillet, St. Germain, lemon-$15) served up in a martini glass. The cocktail was fruity and pleasantly sweet, and really just tasted like strawberry juice. It was tasty but I do prefer a stronger beverage. Of course I downed the thing in mere minutes. I wanted another gin cocktail (besides a hardcore standard martini) so I went with a French 75 (not on the menu)... our waitress couldn't t think of any good alternative gin cocktail options so I spout out one of my go-to drinks. A French 75 is composed of gin, fresh lemon, Champagne and sugar with a lemon twist. My drink arrived in a flute and was definitely on the bitter side. Not my fave rendition but I obviously couldn't let it go to waste. My boyfriend's cocktails were honestly a lot better. First he started off with The Details (Grey Goose Le Citron, crème de cassis, St. Germain, pineapple-$13) served on the rocks in a high ball. It was pleasantly sweet and refreshing. I liked the pineapple flavor but you could still taste a hint of alcohol. To switch things up, he then ordered the Triple P (Pisco, pineapple, lemon, pomegranate syrup, aquafaba-$15) served up in a coupe. Again the pineapple was nice and this turned out to be another good fruity cocktail option. His third drink ended up being both of our favorites. The Havanna Rose (Bacardi, lime, simple syrup, strawberry, topped with Angry Orchard Rose Cider-$15) was served on the rocks in a high ball. The strawberry flavor and bubbly finish matched with a faint taste of rum made for a winning combo. So naturally we split another ha. You get a basket of warm, soft bread (there was steam coming off it folks) served with a soft triangle of butter sprinkled with fancy pants salt. Needless to say I ate more than my fair share but damn it was good. We decided to split a few apps as well before our mains. I would personally never order popcorn shrimp but my boyfriend was excited about this option so compromise. Daniel's Popcorn Shrimp (sriracha chili sauce, lemon aioli-$15) ended up being one of my favorite parts of our meal. It was served hot in a little cutesy cardboard "popcorn box" along with two ramekins of tasty sauce. The shrimp was hot and coated in a light tempura like coating. I normally think shrimp is a little gag-worthy so it was obviously quite amazing. Now, crab cake or seared ahi? Our waitress thought the ahi would be better to share so we went with that. The Seared Ahi Tuna (avocado, wasabi, ponzu-$14) included slices of melt in your mouth seared tuna along with a few slices of creamy avocado served over ponzu sauce. A couple dabs of wasabi sauce were located on one end of the plate, while some light, crispy wontons? were stacked on the opposite end. The fish was really good. The wasabi did overpower the delicate flavor of the fish so I would recommend skipping that or treading lightly. The crisps weren't necessary and seemed to be a plate filler. They got a little sog resting over the ponzu sauce as well. We were going to split a beet salad with goat cheese and candied nuts but after taking down our requests our waitress returned saying that we were handed an old menu and that was no longer an option. So we went with the Caprese Salad (fresh tomatoes and mozzarella, raspberry balsamic glaze, pickled red onion and fennel, extra virgin olive oil, basil, Sitka sea salt--$12) since I don't eat meat and can't have much (or any garlic). The Caprese included 3 slices of tomatoes, each stacked with a slice of mozzarella and a dap of pickled red onion and fennel. The "stacks" were served over a raspberry balsamic glaze with a few fresh raspberries on the side. Nothing extraordinary but I did enjoy this dish. The pickled fennel and onion was a nice touch too. My boyfriend enjoyed his 28oz Porterhouse ($84) served with garlic mash with Rogue Creamery Blue Cheese sauce ($6) on the side. He was happy to have leftovers. I normally opt plant-based but had to try the halibut. Mistakes. The macadamia and coconut crusted Halibut, served with coconut curry sauce, roasted cauli, broc and carrots + white rice-$48-was dry. Sad face. The veggies and sauce were good but this dish was not worth $48 before tax, etc. Our waitress wasn't the best... 20% tip is included. read more

Wine never arrived, steak got taken away without a to-go box, we were also told yesterday that there was air conditioning inside, but it was nearly 90 degrees at our table. It was a similarly hot day yesterday when we inquired - more transparency about the air conditioning capabilities would have been appreciated. Servers had sweat dripping from their foreheads. Water was warm. Can't imagine how employees can be expected to work in this heat while maintaining expected quality at this price. Our experience tonight was not worth $260. With all the other excellent steakhouses in this area, we don't plan on returning to Daniel's again. EDIT: Restaurant response claims "Unexpected heat" - it was only 3 degrees cooler the day before when we inquired about the air conditioning. I've always held Daniels Broiler in a higher regard when it comes to Seattle restraints. I've been to each location many times, and unfortunately, I don't know what it was about my last visit, but it feel far far below my expectations. Normally, it's an excellent dining experience but this time it fell so far short. We had requested to sit outside and I don't know if that caused the poor service or not, but none of the normal accompaniments were there. They brought out bread, no bread plates. Obviously there were crumbs everywhere. Normally they do this nice little sweep of the table to clean it off. That never happened. They never read us the specials. Overall the food was grossly over seasoned. My mother-in-law, who I kept telling her how great this place was, got a salad and it was just drenched in dressing and was so salty she barely ate half of it. The seared ahi with wasabi ponzu was so-so. The king salmon was a bit overcooked for medium, but was advertised as with pork belly, interesting I thought... I don't know if they forgot it or what, but I couldn't taste it. Mainly it was some grilled salmon covered in pistachios. All things aside, it was a great disappointment. I don't know what was off, but it really didn't make us want to come back after the lack of service for the price. It kind of felt like what I would expect at one of the bar and grill chains at Greenlake for a happy hour, not what I would expect for a $200 meal for 3 without drinks. You will have a good meal in a nice restaurant. Nothing so much amazing. but was served and crafted well nonetheless. Mixed Drinks - Great flavor and finish, served in a thimble. A beer, it was good, came in a typical schooner - which was fine. French Onion Soup - Great flavor in a traditional stock, the assembly of which was a little off with the bread to broth ratio and the cheese was a bit unfinished (evident in its quick service.) Whiskey Dungeness Crab Soup - Flavor Rich Thick Sauce with highlights of whiskey that was pleasant but could have benefitted from more liquid crab broth to make it a Crab Soup flavored with Whiskey. Lamb- fine piece with appropriate season, but lacked any sort of real development in the sear. All finish, no flair. Paired with a Bordeaux which was a bit overpowering with the Lamb. Crusted Halibut - Neither crusted or super piece of Halibut, but pleasantly seasoned and broiled well. Paired with a local Riesling which worked well all the way around. Coconut Carmel Fudge Ice Cream - Any lacking of the sauce flavor was masked by the large amount of Ice Cream. Easily shared by the table and any casual passerby's. read more

Gotta say, after all the hype about this place, I was really expecting something amazing. I spent about $200 there a few nights ago and feel really underwhelmed. One thing I'll say is the service was outstanding. The staff was very accommodating and attentive. Our food was out in a timely manner. I just felt like the food was by and large, bland and lacking. It wasn't bad by any means, it just wasn't at all what I was expecting for what we paid. Realistically, I don't expect to be back unless my girlfriend wants to go. This is a candidate for kitchen nightmares! First they have the guts to ask to you reserve with a credit card in case you don't show, then the place is deserted! I can see why! Ridiculous high prices- $140. For surf and turf, $100. For king crab (frozen) and canned bacon bits in the wedge salad...come on!! Tired, oppressive atmosphere. Very mediocre food. I'm giving this place three stars, because for me, it was an average experience. In my opinion, this place is a place you want to go at least once, but not more than once a year. The steak was fabulous. The kind of rich, perfectly cooked steak that even when you commit steak sin and heat it up in the microwave the next day, it still tastes better than most steak. Yet, the price is extreme. I get it, good quality steak is expensive. $86 dollars for a steak though should grant me some pretty stellar sides. Sides are cheap. They should adorn that steak with stellar sides, because the steak is spendy. Perhaps a better mashed potato, the ones I had were too simple. or even a veggie side that is complimentary. We bought mushrooms and seasonal veggies for the sides, but it felt sort of like a ripoff asking for any money after I bought that monster of a steak. I'm a steak girl, I eat it a lot. I'll pay a lot for it. These steaks were good, but not good enough to warrant $100 bucks before drinks. My advice? Go once to experience it, check out happy hour. Realize that the food will be pretty salty. Not bad salty, but salty. And spendy. Way spendy. I will probably go again, but I am not rushing. I wasn't thrilled about anything during the meal. It didn't feel that special. I booked a reservation and they sat me half an hour later. The service was fine, but expected, because I am seriously paying for it. I didn't mind being charged 20% gratuity. Yet, I feel kind of played by how expensive the meal was, and how it wasn't that memorable. Even my cocktail seemed uninspired. So in all, this is a steak joint. Whether you want to pay $150 per person for a meal and a drink, or you would rather spend $80 on something less high-brow at another one of Seattle's fantastic restaurants, that's all up to you. Update: Finally got to go back to Daniel's on Leschi and it was a much better experience than the first time. Our waiter, Franklin, was exceptional: attentive, fun, knowledgeable, and timely. My husband had the salmon which he said was very good and cooked to perfection. I and my friend both had the 8 oz filet mignonette and it too was cooked to perfection. I also had a side of asparagus which were also well prepared - crunchy but not too hard: perfect!!! I can't say I'm a fan of the 20% add on which essentially goes to Schwartz Bros so the staff gets a "better/higher" base salary - I believe 10% goes to the waiter first. Being a VERY high tipper usually, I'd say the wait staff is short changed in our instance - don't know about others. I'm only mentioning it because it was a topic of our conversation with 2 in our party who have been in the hospitality business. I also have to mention that I think the food is priced too high: there was nothing exceptional or over the top that a lower priced fine dining restaurant couldn't supply. I also think that maybe ALL the desserts should be house made. All in all it was a pleasant evening and we thoroughly enjoyed it. I dont know, why people visit this restaurant, probably because the good environment and view? The steak is hard to eat, over cook outside, create black crust that have bitter taste. The salad is just standard, where your mom can make it better salad! The price is over charge! If you want a good steak, go to Ruth Steak! U will taste the different! No wonder only 3 and half star over alll. Never ever go back again. read more
