Finally a Texas style BBQ worth giving 5 stars! I'm from South Texas, born and raised and just moved to this area a few months ago. I've been missing my Texas BBQ and have finally found it at Danny's. The brisket was very tender, had a good smoke ring, and had a seasoning on it that did not overpower the meat, instead it enhanced it, like it should. Another local barbecue place, that I will not name, does not understand this concept and coats their brisket in too much black pepper that it overpowers the taste of the meat. That is NOT Texas BBQ, no matter how much they tried to justify it to me. Danny's barbecue sauce was true Texas barbecue sauce with a touch of sweet with a little kick. The beans were very good, very tasty, liked that they also put the meat in the beans. My one suggestion is to not serve it with so much liquid, especially with takeout orders. That is just a disaster waiting to happen. LOL Smokin mac & cheese was really good, not really a Texas thing, but really enjoyed it. We picked up BBQ for Father's Day, and loved every bite. We ordered brisket, pulled pork and ribs by the pound, then jumbo sizes of beans, coleslaw and zucchini and peppers. Everything was great. We called in advance (about 3 hrs) which was great because they ran out of several things for people walking in (but we got everything for our order)! Authentic BBQ. Personnel wonderfully helpful. Catered tho I picked it all up for large family holiday feast. Very thorough clearly written instructions of what to do to what, how, and how long. Instructions also had coordinating timing so everything was ready at same time. Fantastic win for me since I don't cook but I do eat. After all these years, I totally surprised everyone that I would do the entire feast. They were in AWE of the spread and the idea. This is one place that we always take visitors to eat when they're in town. Not that BBQ is a local delicacy, it's just that this place has some of the best food in the area. The ribs are fall off the bone tender. The zucchini and peppers are our favorite side dish and we always order the jumbo size to share. . BBQ so good it brought a tear to my eye. The brisket nearly melted in my mouth. The restaurant is nothing fancy, not corporate. When I picked up my order three generations of Juan's family were there, including laughing children. So nice to see. Several years back Danny sold the place to Juan. Juan has won a couple of Best of Kitsap awards since taking over. The only minus is finding the place. It's on Silverdale Way, but I always pass it. You may want to use Google maps. read more

Oh so good! Food is perfection and reasonably priced. We came around 11:30 at the start of the lunch crowd arriving. I had the Pulled pork sandwich and my friend the brisket sandwich. It came with a side of coleslaw which to my pleasure was not drenched in sauce and fresh. There was seating indoors and two large picnic tables outside. Plenty of paper towels and wet wipes. The only downside was there was some wait time, but it was worth it . Will be back here again. read more

Heard about the place from a co-worker who had not been there yet. So I swung in to see what's up. Smoker out front, didn't appear to be going but a nice smell none the less. Inside the place is small, had a group of six in there and it was crowded. Seems like it will hold about 10, with not much room for standing and waiting. There seemed to be a bit of outside seating. Frankly the size etc makes perfect sense to me so I don't consider that a downside. Picked up one pulled pork and chopped brisket sandwich with everything on the side. The pork had good smoke and flavor, a tad on the dry side but still very good. The chopped brisket had good smoke and good smoke flavor. Both meats were simple and very tasty. I'm not a fan of the drench the meats with seasonings or injections and lose the real flavor of the meat. I'm a purist, I want the smoke and seasoning to bring out the favors not mask them. Danny is doing this right. Served on hamburger buns that was not toasted, although good I would prefer a grilled bun. This is a minor personal preference. Both sandwiches came with slaw, red onion and fresh jalapeño. Slaw had a good subtle flavor and once the sandwich was built it blended nicely. The sauce is sweet, no heat to it and very thick. Not sure if they make it there or not, but it was good. I prefer a little bite to mine and less thick but still worked and it tasted good. So I'm a hard one when it comes to BBQ, been doing it for years and had a BBQ restaurant before I moved up here. Danny is doing it right, and I'm sure things will evolve and change over time. It's not easy to say the least, but his passion is obvious in the food. He's not just just trying to make a living, this matters to him and it's easy to tell the difference. Tried most places to be horribly disappointed every time, I generally just eat my own of course, but it's nice to have somewhere to share a passion with. Spoke to Danny briefly, he asked me back to chat anytime. I look forward to getting to try the other items on the menu and the sides. Really good food, don't be dissuaded by the hours, open for 8 hours is a 12 hr work day, appreciate what it takes to make homemade quality food, let them have their time off without penalty, your tastebuds will thank you. So I have decided since I'm now traveling so much, I would go out of my way to taste as much Que as I can while out and about. Found this place and it is a nice looking pit style bbq joint. Nice smoke pit out front. Went in and was greeted and asked what I would like. Their menu offers normal bbq meats (pork, chicken, ribs, and brisket). I asked what they were known for and without hesitation she replied brisket. So I went with brisket and my two sides of slaw and Mac-n-cheese. Took it to go. Back in my room opened it up and was very happy. Nice portions and beautiful smoked brisket. Very light sauce with extra on the side if needed. The smoked Mac-n-cheese is mixed with pulled pork and is amazing. The slaw was an average slaw and good. The brisket was crazy good. Very tender, moist, deep smoke ring and solid flavor. The sauce is a Texas style think and sweet with a slight tang to it. I didn't use sauce and simple enjoyed the brisket...it was that good. ABSO-fabulous brisket! Flavor, tender and not gobs of fat! I buy it by the pound & take it home to enjoy. Often meats get dry in the smoker BBQ process (think chicken), but Danny's treats their brisket right. As far as I know there is no wheat flour in the rub, so I can enjoy an infrequent guilty pleasure. So great to have this flavor profile too. As BBQ lovers know, there is SW, Texas, Southern, plus Chinese, from the Philippines, Japan, Africa, the whole world has selective methods and spices... Really good BBQ! I've had the chicken, brisket, ribs, and pulled pork and I have no complaints about any of it. They give really good portions as well. I love their smoked mac & cheese which has pulled pork mixed in and recently tried one of their newer items: the TNT Burrito which is brisket, bacon, mac & cheese, and a hot link. It sounds weird, but it tastes amazing. I wasn't able to finish it in one sitting though, due to the amount of stuff in it. read more

I hired this place to cater my wedding and was BLOWN. AWAY. First off, the food is down right amazing. It is a little hole in the wall place that you don't think too much of - has a couple smokers out front. But my god, it is delicious. For catering, they kept all food warmed, started the serving line, and even left the leftovers for us and told us how long they'd last uncovered. Best place ever. read more

Never heard of this place until we saw the yelp review yesterday. Kind of tucked away in a little industrial complex, so very handy using the mapping feature! Pretty straightforward when you get there. Menu on a blackboard, pretty standard barbecue options and a couple of cool sides - smoked mac & cheese and Zucchini and peppers along with the regulars. The smoked mac & cheese has meat in it - it's absolutely delicious! And the zucchini and peppers were fantastic! They came out piping hot and plentiful! There are only two benches to sit outside, and we lucked out but someone was leaving just as we arrived. I don't think they wipe down the seating in between customers, so if you're sensitive just be aware of that. Regardless, the food was really good, and came out promptly. This is my favorite bbq, hands down. My favorite is the pulled pork quesadilla and Mac and cheese. My fiancé loves the brisket meal, baked beans, and cornbread. They only have one sauce, but you barely need any because the meat is so good. The staff is friendly, and the ambiance inside is casual-- nothing fancy or flashy. They're getting busier (for good reason!) and sometimes there isn't room inside, but they have a couple tables outside. We almost always order to go, and it travels really well! If you haven't tried it, you should! It's the best bbq I've had in the northwest, and it rivals the best bbq I've had in Texas, too! read more
