I'm writing this review today because I was very disappointed about their customer service. I called in for the inspection service appointment outside (lots of noises around me) so I admit that I was not able to hear her clearly. So I apologized (several times during the phone conversation) but I ended up asking her to repeat her words a few times. She might just have a loud voice, but I felt like she was yelling at me. I felt like she was annoyed at my questions the whole time. I'm vw customer for the last five years (leasing a vehicle because I know that they have great service, usually), but after today's experience with volkswagen silverspring gave me an impression that their customer service is going bad. I'm a person who understands how hard customer service is sometimes, but they really disappointed me today. read more

Unusually long waits for simple things like an oil change. Took 23 minutes today waiting in line just to have them accept my key at the service desk. Beware of the latest scam: On your invoice will appear a $1.99 "Document Retention" fee. You're going to charge me for keeping my invoice?! Really?!?! Will I get visitation rights? Will there be continuing "invoice support" payments that I have to make in the future? read more

About the service department - made an online appointment to deal with a recall issue on my VW. Showed up to be told that they were surprised I had an appointment because they were running behind schedule. While this didn't make sense, I told them I made the appointment online a week ago. I was told that my appointment was in the system for 1:00 and that there was a three hours wait time until I would get my car in. Sooooo...what is the point of making an appointment? My time is wasted and I'm told the best thing to do is make another appointment for 7:00 am on another day, before they get busy. So clearly the overbooking and being unable to honor appointments is a chronic issue. read more

Horrible customer service! I had to go to a dealership for repairs. I knew it would be more expensive, but I didn't expect such poor quality service. The repairs took a week, on the last day they offered me a rental car; on several occasions I called to check the status of the repairs and was told my contact wasn't in -- and apparently there is no centralized system that would say if the repairs was complete; they never initiated a call to tell me the status of repairs; on the final day, I was told everything was done and the tech was driving the car for a final test -- 1.5 hours later he was apparently still "testing" the car! I have been going to DARCARS VW ever since they were located in College Park where I purchased my car, My advisor has always been Ali and I went in today for a oil change and I was in and out within an hour and a half and they even cleaned my car (first time ever). And more importantly, I was never made to feel like I was asking them for too much- unlike what I experienced when negotiating with other dealerships in the area. We came here to purchase a car. After walking around for 30 minutes we narrowed our choices down to two cars. Unfortunately, we had not yet been approached. FINALLY a salesman who was with a customer said he'd get someone for us. Still... we waited 10 more minutes. We saw another employee, we asked him for help. He said he wasn't a salesman and would get someone... and we waited 10 more minutes. We finally got in our car and left. My husband made an apt to have his car serviced for 8:15AM on Saturday morning. It took them 2 hours just to look at his car. Then, they said it would be another 2 hours just to give him an estimate for repairs. I am only giving 2 stars because an employee offered to fill the air in his tire and gave him a tip on a better repair shop. read more

Ali (services) is great! Theres nothing better then great costumer service. I've been to Ali twice (oil change and purchase new tires) the is extremely helpful and have great customer service skills. My wife and I purchased an e-Golf with Abdul at DARCARS Silver Spring in April 2016. The e-Golf is great and we love it! We were so impressed with the e-Golf - and our experience at DARCARS - that we came back a month and a half later to trade in our second car on a GTI! I had a 2012 Subaru Forester that I had been thinking of trading in on an Impreza. Although we test drove the Impreza and liked it, we ultimately decided to make our second car a Volkswagen. We're now a two Volkswagen family and couldn't be happier. As long as we live in this area, we plan on buying our cars from Abdul at DARCARS. She even shopped around to find a better deal on insurance for me and made sure I wasn't sitting in the dealership for too long. This was my first time at Darcars despite my living in the area I purchased my car from Martens VW and always took it there for service. Welp I bit the bullet and took a chance since I needed my 40k mile service done and after calling around they were $100 cheaper. I had to call 3 times just to get someone on the phone, their website is crappy also. Finally got an appointment and dropped my car off, they gave me a loaner which was great the only drawback was the service advisor was waaaayy to chatty I wound up waiting over an hour just to go over the services performed and to pay. Happy with the service could do without the long waits due to excessive talking. Bottom line is they were cheaper. read more

They attempted to get me to replace my entire struts/suspension system, to the tune of $2069, when, as I determined via an HONEST and EXPERT VW repair shop, there was NOTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR, AND IT NEEDED NO WORK WHATSOEVER. Compounding this, the VW Corporation, whose "customer service" (HA, that's a LAUGH) department we contacted, REFUSED TO ALLOW US TO SEND THEM EVIDENCE of OUTRIGHT FRAUD on the part of Darcars. Moreover, Darcars refused to respond to my email asking for a written response from them, that I sent to the repair agent, as well as to one of the owner/managers of the company. A week later, I still have received no response from them. I've purchased two cars from Darcars Silver Spring (a used 2002 Toyota Corolla, and a new 2013 VW Golf), but will never, ever purchase anything from them again. Moreover, I won't be purchasing any more VW's, because it's clear that the company, at the corporate level, is crooked even BEYOND the diesel emissions fraud they committed against the entire driving world, and the health of the planet. So, GOODBYE Darcars, and GOODBYE Volkswagen. You're both crooks in my book. read more

Do not buy a car at this dealership!! I had to give them 1 star because you cannot rate no stars, but I would have! I inquired online and got my price and everything was great. However, when I showed up at the dealership to purchase the car suddenly everything changed. They not only added "freight" which I was expecting, but they added all kinds of other things as well. And when I got to the finance office the interest rate was way higher than it said online. The guy told me that I could get a lower rate if I added an extened warranty, lojack, and something else. I said I would just bring a check back from my credit union and he told me that I had to wait 3 months to do that, but would not tell me why. I left the dealership and did not buy from them. I have been going to DarCars since 2012 and I am a huge fan. I never have an appointment but they always get me out in a reasonable time. They don't overcharge or try to find things to fix with your car. They are honest about when your car will need to be serviced and they also have a large and clean waiting area with a TV and free gourmet coffee. I have tried several places before finding DarCars and I am happy that I ended up here. Kevin, the service manager is very nice and accommodating. They will also wash your car for free which is a great plus in this nasty weather. read more

Great sales experience...perfectly DREADFUL SERVICE experience. While they were able to clear out the sunroof drains to stop a leak, they returned the car with 5 inches of water in the wheel well and a "sorry we missed that, we can't do anything about that now" comment. Repair took longer and was told they would cover 2 days of car rental. No payment for the two days of car rental, as promised. No follow up when my post-service survey asked for a follow up call. No call from the service manager to discuss payment for the rental car, as promised. Glad to see I'm not the only one that has been treated so poorly and lied to. read more

Leslie is simply amazing. I came in knowing exactly what I wanted. She right away found my car and allowed me to test drive it and was very clear about all the features. Last dealership I went to they made me fill out paperwork before even looking at a car. Leslie took time with me and made sure I felt comfortable and not pressured. Cameron the manager was also great he reviewed my application carefully and even had a great since of humor. This isn't my first car however it's the first car I financed. In the mean time they showed my friend a car he was interested in and let him know all the juicy details. They finally approved me for my 2015 Jetta and off I was. We sealed the deal and it was a very pleasant experience. One of the best customer service experiences I have had in a while. After a miserable experience at Ourisman VW of Rockville (don't go there!) the guys at Darcars saved the day and the reputation of dealers everywhere. There were no shenanigans - Keith provided me a complete quote via email so I had it in writing. I found DARCARS, and specifically Leslie, from a previous yelp review. I had spent several hours with two previous dealerships to ultimately encounter the types of gimmicks that unfortunately give car buying its unpleasant reputation. Although I had a fair enough deal hammered out for a Jetta with another dealership, based on some offputting tactics, I wanted to give my business to a place I felt better about out of principle. Leslie and the manager, Uriel worked to negotiate a fair and similar deal. They were straightforward, accommodating, and took the time necessary to make the experience as comfortable/understandable as possible. Very poor experience. I went to buy my youngest daughter her first car, advertised for 5K on Carguru. Confirmed via email and phonecon that it was available (they called me, nice touch), made an appointment, drove 40 miles to get there, and was told "we can't sell you this car, it doesn't pass state inspection." When asked "why did you confirm the appointment this am or even list it?" I was told "oh, that's our digital team." But (of course) "other cars were available." We walked, total nonsense trying to drag the customer in. Says a lot the place was empty. read more

I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! I showed up in a tow truck and was immediately greeted so well!! Of course I was stressed and scared of what the issue could be but every single person I encountered made me feel like everything would be fine. My service man was Peter who truly went above and beyond for me. I told them the car is not drivable, I just had it fixed a week prior, it will not turn on and was jerking down the highway until it completely would not turn on. They diagnosed the issue and even helped me reach out to the horrid mechanic who worked on my rear main seal and pcv valve. Despite my crying, frustration, and hurt Peter made sure to help me in any way possible. From reaching out to that horrid mechanic, to helping me understand my receipt, to just providing excellent customer service! I got my pcv valve redone here and will need to come back for my rear main seal but, this place is fantastic! Seriously, I would def recommend. They are patient and try and help you figure out how to pay, how to fix the problem, just everything! Great! Great! Great! read more

So after recently having a terrible experience with buying a used car, I finally decided it was time to cut my losses and shop for a new vehicle. I had my eye on a new VW and as an added bonus it just so happened that my decision to lease coincided with the sign & drive event. As is the case with some dealers, I fully expected to walk-in and get the ole dealer bait & switch! Yeah that promo has ended, we don't have that vehicle, that price is only good on 2016 models (which we don't have) or when you put $2K down, but I can put you in a 2017 for only about a $100 more a month, etc! Much to my surprise, none of those things happened. My salesman Abdul was top-notch (friendly, no pressure whatsoever, answered all my questions - and I ask a ton of questions, yeah I'm "that"guy, he made the entire process relatively seamless and was extremely knowledgeable about the vehicle I was interested in). Keith was great as well and clearly explained all of financing/lease details which made all the accompanying paperwork a breeze. There were a few minor hiccups with the delivery, but Keith & Abdul more than made up for it by promising me a free tank of gas and to address the other small cosmetic issue whenever I'm able to take the car back up to the dealer! At no point during the entire process did the word "shady" cross my mind. A piece of mind and excellent customer service deserves a 5-star rating in my book all day long! read more

Beware this place! The service is terrible and, potentially, deceitful. We have used it for the free scheduled maintenance for both our gti and tiguan. It was a necessary evil because it was close by. Service was always petulant and sometimes downright rude. And always different staff. Not a good sign. However, after the warranty expired (just), we took the gti to a local shop to check out rough idle and coolant leak. The former was an error code which indicated a needed software update, so it was off to dealer (Darcars). The latter a leaking water pump. $900 repair. Took the car to Darcars. According to their shop? A valve cleaning and replacement of rear seal. $1000 and $1700 respectively. And the water pump. $1300. I said no way. At the recommendation of another mechanic, took the gti to wheaton service center (rocks!). Yes I needed new water pump. $800. But error code was probably caused by no dipstick. Huh? Called Darcars. Oh the technician "forgot" to put it back in. Uh huh. Picked up dipstick. No apology. Nothing. With dipstick in , some other repairs, and new water pump, car runs great. We are a bit poorer, but not broke. Avoid this shop! read more

Telephone customer service is terrible. My car engine has malfunctioned, and I tried calling in for 3 days straight to get verification on my car warranty. I finally had to walk into the dealership to get an answer from someone because I could not get a hold of anyone on the phone. I have now gotten my car towed to the dealer for servicing and have been trying to confirm if my car arrived and the status of the inspection. I've gotten transfered about 10 times, hung up on, and still have not spoken to anyone for an update on my car. It's ridiculous that to get an answer I have to physically go there since no one is ever available via phone. read more
