I don't recommend people get their VW serviced here, because I've lost trust in this dealership's service department. After completing the 30k service, I asked our service advisor for a written quote for the 40k service, since it would be the first service interval that wouldn't be provided for free, and I knew from research that it would be a little expensive. The printed estimate was roughly $680, expensive but doable. So we come back at 40k after scheduling the service and our advisor (a different one from the 30k) confirms the price. When the service is done, the guy giving us back our key is going through the list of things they did, and I don't hear the words "DSG" (the transmission that is serviced every 40k miles), so I ask him about it. He tells me it wasn't done because I "declined it", which is terribly false. I ask our service advisor what happened, and he brings up the fact that the amount I paid was for everything but the DSG service. With that service, the price was actually $1,100. The reason this service department gets 2 stars, rather than 1, is because he agreed to have the service done for free since that's what the original quote said. It seems this was pretty clearly a bait-and-switch move, because when I compared the two estimates for the 40k service--the one we were first given, and one we asked for after being told of the price difference--that were printed from the same system, I found them to be exactly the same except for nearly $500 in labor missing from the first estimate. Pretty shady, in my opinion. Then, to top it off, today we had to go back to get our AdBlue topped off (a component of the TDI emission system) because they apparently decided to skip that during our service appointment. Nice. And we've twice asked that our car not be washed while in for service, only to see someone had gone against our wishes. And then there's the scratched paint and damaged plastic on the bottom of the rear bumper (thankfully, you can't see it unless you're almost under the car) that neither of us recall causing. Want to speak to the mechanic working on your car? Be prepared to get the run-around, since as of now the garage is located in a different facility from where you speak to the service advisors, so it's a big inconvenience if you want to speak to someone with any kind of mechanical knowledge. And have I mentioned that our service advisor was under the mistaken impression that you can't cross-rotate tires on a German car? All around, a terrible service department. My advice: do the maintenance yourself if you can, and if you can't, look for a place more reliable and trustworthy than this place. read more

I left my VW for a 30K standard service at Darcars in May 2016. For few days after I got my car back the vehicle engine was making a sound, finally I discovered the engine oil has been leaking and engine was almost out of oil! I called Darcars and they send a truck to bring my car to their facility for checking. Later manager told me the lid for engine oil was not fully fastened by the mechanic so the leaking happened. They didn't refund me for their faulty service, considering the engine was at high risk of being fully damaged or it may already have damaged. They offered a next service free on them(in a year) which was useless. I don't want to bring my car back to them considering their terrible history. read more

I've been coming here for a couple of years now because the location is convenient. However, I have vowed never to return after this latest series of misadventures. To begin with, I find that they have a tendency to speak to me in a condescending way. In fact, I once brought in my car over a check engine light and was assured that it was probably nothing and to just come back in a week or so if it was still on. There was an actual problem with the car and when I brought it in again, they didn't fix the entire problem, as I discovered the next time I took my car out for a drive and the check engine light came right back on. Considering that they were unusually nice to me when it came time to pay the bill (after the usual rudeness that morning when I handed over the car keys), I wonder if they damaged something and decided to cover it up, assuming I'd bring my car back shortly once the check engine light returned. They couldn't even do an oil change properly. My husband decided to change the oil himself and discovered that the oil filter can't be changed because they put it on so tight the threads got stripped. We'll have to replace both the filter and housing. I tried bringing this issue up with Darcars to see if they'd fix the problem they created, but I got no response. I am certain the reason for their condescending manner toward me is because I am a woman. When discussing the repairs over the phone with my husband or when speaking to my father when he came with me one time, I have noticed a marked improvement in their behavior. Of course, that's not to say that Darcars treated them exceptionally well; my father still thought they were lacking in courtesy and professionalism, compared to other dealerships. I might add that I have taken my car to other dealerships in the past and had always been treated well. I knew that women often complained about discrimination practices in the auto repair industry, but it wasn't something I had experienced before I came here. I have been surprised that service would be so poor at a dealership, considering that they must want customers to return and buy cars from them. After my experiences, it wouldn't even cross my mind to set foot in their show room. read more

The service department at Darcars is great! I had to bring my brand new 2015 Passat in because the dealership I purchased it from was incompetent and could not find nor fix the problem (Pohanka in Capitol Heights). The mechanic knew exactly what the issue was and immediately ordered the parts and fixed the problem. I am very happy with the service I received and will be taking my car there for all of my future maintenance appointments. read more

DarCars is cheating customers and Toyota. The service department staff works on commission. I was told I needed a $1,600 repair that was covered by a Toyota warranty. I took the car to another dealer who added antifreeze to the car and solved the problem. The Service Department staff person falsified records to say I approved $1,600 of repairs. I told the Service Manager, the General Manager and the Owner I did not. They never investigated who was telling the truth. They said the work is done you have to pay. Without management oversight the staff has put their commissions first. With the profits being raked in by the staff, the management intentionally disregards customer complaints about dishonesty. read more

I was in the market for a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. Leslie not only found the vehicle I wanted at one of DarCars other lots, but she personally delivered my new Jeep to me here in Philadelphia. I don't know any dealership that would take care of you like that!!!! This review is regarding VW service center. I've dealt with them for 3 years now and they always offered great service, but I think this year they went through some changes and got new service people. I brought my 2012 vw CC there 3 times since March'15 and every time they found a new problem which they fixed but the car kept failing in the same way which means that there was a bigger problem causing these smaller issues that they weren't able to discover. First and second time I didn't know this of course so I never complained but even back then their customer service was horrible. Garry the stuff member, a very rude person, would look always so annoyed when I was talking to him, and they would promise me loaner car and everytime I would get there they would say they didn't have them anymore (why promise then?). Once I started complaining about their service because car that i bought at their dealership had to be towed 3 times with the same 'symptoms' and I was spending so much money on already very expensive car, their aggression grew! So I decided to deal with the service manager who proved to be the worst person of all of them (not surprising since a good manager wouldn't tolerate his stuff providing a bad customer service). First, he refused to take responsibility for his employees actions and told me (yelled at me) that whatever I spoke with Gary wasn't his business. Gary has used my extended warranty that I hoped to get a refund on without my authorization and had me lose $1000. I will never go back here and now I have to fix my car someplce else. Anyways, just want to advise people using their services don't trust them! First, they aren't so great at their job and then they treat their customers very badly. read more

I wanted to share my experience with everyone and anyone who is looking into buying a car. So in most cases, not all, but like mine this morning driving to the dealership I had no idea what type of car I actually was looking into. My 2003 Camry was truly an amazing car lasted me awhile but I wanted a little change. So I decided to pass by Darcars Volkswagen which was right next to each other, very convenient. The second I walked through the doors I was greeted by a sales representative name Victoria. The first thing I was asked from her was "what type of car are you looking into today"? I told her I honestly had not a single clue. She then asked me a couple of questions and then present two cars to me that she thought would best fit my "life style". Long story short, I walked out of the dealership in my new 2016 Jetta sport. She has this car and her personal testimonies and the great features it came with, she sold me my first Volkswagen. I would give them 5 stars, but have only been there once. After I visit a few more times I can more accurately rate them. However, my experience this past Saturday was awesome! Ali greeted me less than 1 minute after I walked in the door. He assisted me in getting my 10,000 mi service/check-up on my 2012 VW Jetta. My wait time was less than he estimated and, I received a free car wash and cleaning on the inside. Wow! The wait area was very clean and spacious with a table, chairs and a TV along w/complimentary coffee/cocoa for the customers who are waiting. I just can't complain about this place or it's employees. The service was really professional and apprreciated. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone who needs to visit a VW. Lastly but most importantly, no place of business will ever be able to please everyone, so I'm sure there will be possible situations but overall it appears that Darcars strives to please it's customers. read more

angels on earth...to say the very least. leslie, along with the entire sales, financial and management team at darcars vw saved my life...literally! yesterday i was driving a 2011 jetta se that was in pretty bad shape. from the very first phone encounter that i had with leslie (the superb sales associate) yesterday, she proved that she was in the right business; her level of customer service, knowledge, and etiquette made me feel overwhelmingly comfortable. although i still owed a relatively significant amount of money on my 2011 jetta, they were able to work their majic. this morning i drove to work in my 2014 (new..63 miles on the dash) jetta tdi. i am utterly thankful and blessed to have met leslie and her general sales manager cameron yesterday. i would recommend anyone who is currently looking for a car or knows someone who is looking for a car to stroll right over to the vw dealership in silver spring! they aren't allstate, but trust me when i say 'you are in great hands'. five stars is such a modest rating...they deserve much more!!! read more
