Just a decent three stars for this Chinese restaurant. Why did we go there: 1. Their fried rice is very flavorful, I know it's only fried rice dish, a type of dish that can be cooked by millions of people at home. But if you happened to be dining at Darda, their fried rice is worth to spend the money for. 2. Beef noodle soup. Kinda disappointed with their noodle soup, their noodle is too soggy, means that they did poor job in boiling the noodle, and it seemed their quality has decreased by one star with all the food. 3. We also ordered snow peas with radish. It was pretty much standard chinese cooking dish that you could get almost at anywhere else Chinese restaurants. We probably will choose something else next time. Too many competition for Chinese Restaurant in Bay Area. The bill. This is the worst part, the reason why I give 3 stars. Even with 3 people party, they included tip in the bill. The tricky thing is that they don't itemize the cost. I randomly decided to stop here for lunch one afternoon and I'm glad I did! Even though they close at 2:30pm everyday, I called about 10 minutes before close to see if I could still place a to go order which they said was perfectly fine. I decided on Hunan Chicken ($17) extra spicy, as well as shrimp fried rice ($13.49). The portion sizes are huge. I was able to make 3 separate meals just from those 2 items! The Hunan Chicken was good with tender strips of white meat chicken, snap peas, carrots, water chestnuts, and mushrooms. Unfortunately it wasn't spicy like I asked and the sauce was a bit greasier than what I'm used to. The shrimp fried rice was tasty, full of large shrimp, and could've been a meal in itself. We decided to go to Darda for Iftar during Ramadan; if you plan to do the same, be aware that the restaurant will be PACKED (for good reason), and parking may be hard to find. The overall vibe was very family oriented as many families also came to the restaurant to break their fast; they've got a few paintings and some Arabic calligraphy on the walls to add to that traditional vibe. We ordered the kung pao chicken, Hunan beef, cumin lamb, chicken chow mein, beef chow mein, and mixed fried rice. Favorites definitely had to be the beef chow mein and mixed fried rice as they both had an ample amount of meat included. Cumin lamb was the wildcard dish that we've never had before, didn't like it at first due to how strong the cumin was but it definitely grew on me after eating it with some white rice at home. Service was also solid, as the food came out relatively quickly despite the restaurant being packed. Also, the first thing the server asked was if we were fasting and promptly brought out a jug of water and some dates for the table, so that's another plus for Muslim customers. This restaurant has been around for ages. I first came here perhaps 20yrs ago. We had a feast with the live prawns. And over the yrs i came here with coworkers for lunch. That was probably 10yrs ago Decided to try it out today. Order the sesame onion pancakes and lamb pickled cabbage soup. Well, perhaps my taste buds have changed or just a bad batch. The pancakes did not taste as I remembered. Don't know what is missing, perhaps just not fresh.. that was a letdown The lamb pickled cabbage soup was good and it also had glass vermicelli. Food was alright, despite it being kinda busy the chili chicken came out pretty cold. The kung pao chicken was very sweet and not savory at all, very different from what I've had at other Chinese restaurants. Easily can seat a large table of 10+ on a Saturday evening. Enjoyed all their dishes, which were reliable, straightforward. They're known for the sesame pancake, but I thought it could have been a bit more flavorful and layered. I really enjoyed the knife shaved noodles, which contained a lot of that wok fire taste. The crispy duck was another highlight of the dinner. A nice touch was that the back rooms that host large tables have a switch you can use to call for service. I visited for lunch today. The place was veyr crowded. 3 of us sat on a very large table. We had mongolian beef, which was ok, shrimp noodle which was average, and the sesami bread which was very good. Its a large dining hall, hence the ambiance isnt that great. My friend @TahaQur99 took me to try Halal food with him at Darda Seafood restaurant in Milpitas. We ordered their number one item, the Kung Pao beef, sweet and sour chicken,  and my new favorite item, the Sesame bread with green onions ( thick). I immediately noticed how soft the meat was, maybe it was because it was Halal? I can see why the Kung Pao beef was their best dish, it was flavorful and true to taste. I really like sweet and sour chicken,  it was savory and flavorsome. The star dish to me was the bread, it was soft and chewy with chopped green onions. Darda is one of my OG go-to chinese restaurants in the bay area. If I want good/solid chinese food, this is where I go. Why? Here are the biggest pro's of the restaurants: 1.) Food Speed = Holy crap are they fast. The restaurant can be packed full of people but once your order is in, most (if not all) of your dishes will be out in around 5 minutes. Everytime I bring friends to eat at this place, they always go "Wow, that was fast". 2.) Food = Check out some of my pics but the food is f-ing delicious. My favorite dishes are Beef Noodle Soup (House Noodles), Lamb Fried Noodle (House Noodle), and Dry Sauteed String Beans. You can't go wrong with these staple dishes. 3.) Portion Sizes = I feel like they give a good amount of food for the price. I definitely always leave full and still have to-go boxes to take home. Pro-tip = Always get the house noodles. You'll know you got them since they are thick noodles and not thin (almost square like). And I don't see these really as con's but I've been to fair share of chinese restaurants in my day and this is what you can expect: 1.) Service - Hit or miss. The servers won't make you feel like you are the most important customer there and they won't seem nice. However, I never had an issue with my order and they are definitely moving quickly and making sure things are taken care of. 2.) Restaurant - It's not a super nice-looking restaurant. Chairs/Tables are old and have tea stains on them. Sometimes the table-ware (dishes/cups) will be dirty or chipped but it still works. Just be careful if you put your mouth near a chipped part to avoid cuts. Even with these "Cons", I still recommend this place since I've been going here since I was a kid and the food is still bomb. Darda is a solid Chinese restaurant with incredibly fast service and good portioned food. We were seated right away because the inside is massive and has tons of tables, but usually this restaurant is packed to the brim and busy. We were greeted immediately, given tea, and they took our order very quickly. The tea was really bad. Don't drink the tea. The food came out so quickly! They had it ready to go. I personally am not a fan of the sesame bread but everyone else I was with loved it so I guess my tastebuds are trash or something. I also really didn't like their vegetarian chow mein. All the other food, shrimp fried rice, mongolian beef, broccoli chicken, fried dumplings, and kung pao shrimp, was great! The food is a little oily but honestly it isn't that bad where it ruins the food. The nicest thing happened too. After we ate and were sitting waiting for the bill and chatting, the owner came up to ME and just slid me a green tea ice cream out of nowhere. He didn't tell me why, he didn't say anything, he just gave it to me and sauntered away. I thought that was really cute and made my night. All in all, Darda is a good place to get quick and tasty Chinese food and I will definitely go back again whenever I'm in the area. read more

Parking can be an absolute nightmare during peak hours so please for your sanity allow extra time and be patient with nonsensical drivers. If you make it to the restaurant in one piece, you'll be delighted to find a delicious halal menu... Home made chow mein: yes yes yes - these are homemade noodles. Like it came from your kitchen. Enough said. Green onion pancake: yummy and munchable. Great for leftovers the next morning as well. Just stick in toaster oven. Cumin Lamb - shreds of lamb, a good kick to it, and an unmistakable hint of cumin. This compliments the other dishes that aren't spicy. Green Beans - I thought it was good not great. Repeatable, however. Shrimp FrIed rice: good not great, but great the following day when you heat it up for lunch. Ox Tail Soup - have ordered it in the past - it's a hearty soup with a broth that's on the blander side but the ox meat is super tender and comes right off the bones. I have been dining at Musilim Chinese restaurant here and there, and this one remind me of the original Peking eastern house restaurant in Campbell, Fremont, Milpitas, Cupertino, Boston and Hawaii. 1) Food: the chef learn from the best. I heard the original owner learn from the owner/chef of Easter House in Campbell. The food were great 2) Price: The Price does match the type of food they serve. Estimated per person is $25 to $35 dollars. 3) Quality: The ingredients , the freshness and the maintain the temperature of their food inventories were outstanding. I typically am not a fan of most chinese restaurants despite being chinese myself. However, this place impressed me with their food! We ordered the thick sesame bread with scallion... SO GOOD! The bread had a crispy crust on the outside with soft fluffy breading on the inside. Pretty big portions too. We ordered spicy fish fillets and beef noodle soup. I only came here for their popular ' Sesame Bread w/ Green Onion.' You can choose either 'THICK' or 'THIN'. Currently they are doing only take-out, so you can order in person or on the phone. I've ordered in person, and I got their THICK sesame bread. It usually takes 20-30 minutes because they make it fresh. So while I wait, I go shop at 99 Ranch. Their bread is HUGE, 1 inch thick, your own personal pizza. The top is flaky and inside is doughy goodness. No CARB diet when you get this. I dip it in hot chili oil and it's perfect! ‼BEWARE OF COCKROACHES‼ me and my girlfriend sat in the small table against the wall near the kitchen. While we were eating, an orange cockroach came crawling down the wall right next to us. I immediately killed it with my napkin and assured my girlfriend it probably just got in from the outside. However 15 minutes later, another orange cockroach crawled across our table and we immediately paid and left. I told the waitress about the two cockroaches and she didn't sound surprised at all. A reliable and classic halal Chinese food spot! We have been coming since 2006, and we drop by every time we drive up to SF from LA. Our favorite is the sesame bread with green onion: the thick version is crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. The handmade knife cut noodles is a close second with the chewy texture. Their food does veer on the salty side, but everything is flavorful and fresh tasting. This is a pretty good Chinese restaurant. It's halal because it's a Muslim Chinese shop. Very interesting, I usually don't see a lot of shops like this. Don't expect to find any pork dishes here for obvious reasons. The pickled cabbage soup was quite tasty. Lots of veggies and I liked the slight sour taste too. They also had beef or lamb in the soup too. The green beans weren't bad either although not as dry as it should be. I still liked it and would gladly order this dish again. We were searching this area and thought to try Darda because they have an extensive menu and would provide something for everyone in our party of 4. Prices are comparable to other restaurants, but they give a good portions. We ordered 5 dishes, mu shu chicken with 4 pancakes, stir fried string beans, garlic pea sprouts, housemade noodles with shrimp, and 3 flavor fried rice. The mu shu pancake was difficult to eat because the pancake would break apart. I ended up eating everything separately. Not eaten as it should be but it tasted fine. Everything was decent and flavorful. The only plate that could have been better was the pea sprouts. The pea sprouts were a bit aged because they weren't tender and quite hard. And possibly it was boiled rather than stir fried. Flavor was okay, but hard to chew. However, the rest of the dishes were quite good. We don't live in the area, but our friends do and would probably try them again if the opportunity came up. read more
