This restaurant has been my family's favorite for over 15 years! The noodles are handmade and here I included a photo off beef noodle soup and beef with scallion. The service is good, they've remodeled so it's pretty modern. I enjoy coming here and getting everything on the menu. It's halal chinese food which is an interesting concept but nevertheless so yummy. I come here almost once a week! It's my second time around here and the place is packed for dinner. We ordered Three flavored sizzling rice soup, snow peas and water chestnut, and fried dumplings. Despite's of the busyness food came quick, fresh and hot. The soup was great , not too salty , it's is a light Soup that reinvigorates you. Snow peas with chestnut was sautéed properly you can taste the crunchiness of vegetables and was fresh and delicious. Fried dumplings were crispy on the bottom yet chewy all around it. We've enjoyed this place. Staff and servers were quick , attentive and friendly. Really great spot if you're looking for halal chinese food! I've gotten food from Darda quite a few times and have loved it every time! This time I ordered the Chicken with Chili sauce, Chicken with Spicy Garlic Sauce, and Mongolian Beef. All three dishes tasted great and were also quite spicy. I have had quite a few dishes from here and the chicken with chili sauce is a staple. I also love the chicken with orange sauce. Service is always nice and efficient. I usually get to go and they make the food very quickly. Amazing food, good service and a nice ambiance. Ordered Jelly fish with cucumber for appetizer, chicken fried rice, Kung pao fish and Beef with green onions for main dish. Jelly fish with cucumber was more like a salad and flavorless. It was the only dish we didn't eat much. The main dishes all came in large quantity and we ended up taking home everything. It's been a long time since we have here and their menu has changed no live seafood. Not sure if it is because of the pandemic. Darda has remodeled the interior including the furniture. They opted for very small and narrow chairs, I guess don't expect clientele that weigh over 250 lbs. My wife had a craving for the green onion sesame bao Bing which is one of their specialties. The bao Bing in a big sesame bread they have two thicknesses. It looks like a big wheel of cheese uncut. We ordered a couple of dishes to go along with the sesame bing. 5 stars Mapo tofu 3 stars large portions not very spicy Ox book tripe 5 stars Kung Pao squid 2 stars really not Kung Pao just squid rings in typical Chinese brown sauce. So we have been coming here for many years (once Fatima's in Cupertino closed down) and then took a pause during Covid as well as the question on whether it was or not. Heard from BAHF that there was new management and the alcohol was gone and the food was The hot and sour soup was good, the taste and freshness was present. The chow mein was also good. The beef with spicy garlic sauce did not match up (taste wise) to how it used to be. The steamed rice (not pictured) was not fully cooked and felt a bit raw. The thin paratha felt a bit undercooked. The chili chicken was not as it used to be (color was off and texture wasn't as like a popcorn chicken) and would maybe get again. the beef dumplings were not fully steamed. We came at lunch time to avoid a rush but felt that even so, the food may have been prepared a bit too soon. The food came early but some dishes may not have been fully cooked fully. There did feel to be less soy sauce in the food, that may be a reason why some Of dishes tasted off, but that would be a better move for health purposes. Came by for lunch on a Thursday around 12:40pm with my mom and we got seated immediately. Restaurant was about 80% full. We ordered the shrimp homemade chow mein and the sesame bread with green onion (thick). Beware it's VERY THICK and filling. We finished the chow mein and packed home the sesame bread (we had 80% left). If I had a choice I would've picked the thin bread so I could've eaten a little bit more. Very solid family-style Chinese restaurant! I came with a group of 4 around 7 PM on a Monday night (July 4th weekend) and we were quickly seated with no wait. We ordered the lamb with stew (红烧羊肉), 3 flavor sizzling rice soup (三鲜锅巴锅), 3 flavor chow mein (三鲜茶面), sliced fish with spicy sauce (鱼香鱼片), and dry sauteed string bean (干扁四季豆). Everything was excellent; I particularly liked the dry sauteed string bean and sliced fish with spicy sauce. My friend said the chow mein was a must-try, corroborated by the fact that pretty much every table around us got the chow mein. We felt that 5 dishes for 4 people was the perfect amount. Tip: Some of the English translations on the menu seemed a little off, so it definitely helps to have someone who can read Chinese in your group. read more

Overall, this place is a 3.5, but I rounded down because I don't think I would come back here unless one of my friends were adamant about trying this restaurant out. I came here with a group of 4 for a double date. We were sat down right away, but had trouble flagging down a staff member to take our order; this does not affect the rating though as I primarily rate based on the food itself. Our group split the following items: Lamb with Pickled Cabbage Warm Pot (4/5). This was our soup dish. Really flavorful with the pickled veggies. There was also a pretty large portion of lamb in the order. Cumin Lamb (3.5/5). I personally prefer a stronger cumin flavor, but it was still fairly tasty. I also appreciated the fact that it was not very oily. I think it could have used a bit more seasoning (cumin and salt) Dry Sautéed String Bean (4/5). Well seasoned and had a nice crunchy texture! Back when I was a small child, I used to come to Darda quite often to eat with my family. But after the early 2010s, I stopped coming due to less frequent visits. Being in the Milpitas area for once, I decided to give them a try with the family after 10 years. We stopped in around 7PM on July 4th and noticed the restaurant was packed full! With an outside crowd, we initially thought the wait was easily 30 minutes or more. But after 10 minutes, we were seated quickly. From there, a server came by and dropped tea and menus at the table. The menu had a wide selection of items like your typical Chinese seafood restaurant. But one of the highlights was the amount of lamb options offered! Lamb isn't as prevalent in Chinese restaurants compared to their beef and chicken counterparts, which made their wide selection enticing. For this experience, we ordered a Sesame Bread with Green Onion (~12), Hunan Beef (~$17), Hunan Lamb (~18), Kung Pao Chicken (~$14), Lamb with Pickled Cabbage Warm Pot (~$21). A short note: Darda is a Halal Chinese restaurant. This means that the meat was raised and produced as written in the Muslim holy text: The Qur'an. Regardless if you identify as Muslim or not, the meat quality is by far one of the best I've ever eaten. Also note Darda also has a mandatory 15% service charge on top of the check. Be sure to look for this before putting that card down! Though the server was scarce for the most of the time, I could see her serving tables around the restaurant. The staff were definitely on top of their game because all five our dishes came within 5-8 minutes from the point we ordered. And when the dishes hit the table, the vibrant colors and smell of the dishes spoke numbers about the food. Everything looked fresh, almost as if everything was just handpicked and cooked. Furthermore, every dish was given in great portion size too! A single one of these would be enough to make a person full. But even splitting five dishes between four people, the leftovers from this meal rolled over and lasted three meals. For ratio of the ingredients, all items (excluding the sesame bread) was made of 70% meat and 30% vegetables (chestnut, carrots, straw mushrooms, & snow peas for the Hunan dishes; and green onions, celery, red chilis, & peanuts for the Kung Pao Chicken). The warm pot had lamb, cilantro, pickled vegetables, dried shrimp, and clear glass noodles for the main ingredients with the majority being 60% lamb, 20% vegetable, and 20% noodles. The 16 dollar average price for each dish is more pricey than other options in the entire SF Bay Area. But considering the cost of food in Milpitas as well as the large portion size, price to portion is VERY good in my eyes. I had a little bit of everything and never felt any of them items were bad. But from best to worst I personally liked the Hunan Beef, Hunan Lamb, Sesame Bread, Lamb Warm Pot, and last the Kung Pao Chicken. Both Hunan dishes tasted similar in flavor: Subtly Sweet with a very miniscule spice, all encapsulated by a viscous sauce. When hot, it tastes like a defined embracing soup which was refreshing with every bite. Though the sauce was thick, each ingredient was able to maintain its individual texture and flavor. The snow peas and carrots tasted just like you'd imagine, but the chestnuts tasted like they were roasted which grounded the dish in contrast to the sauce. Out of the two, I enjoyed the beef more as the meat melted in the mouth! Soft and satisfying, but never gummy. The lamb was great too, but it is more gamey and leaner than the other meats on the table. Next, the sesame bread had the subtle onion flavor throughout even though certain parts had none which astonished me. The sesame seeds on top made it taste nutty which complemented the bread. The lamb pot overall had a sour profile from the sour vegetables which was interesting to say the least. The lamb had some subtle juiciness, but was only second to the sour vegetables and the rest of the boiled items. I would eat it again, but I think this dish was just not for me. And last, the chicken in the Kung Pao Chicken was soft and tasted satisfying as it melted in the mouth. But the intense sweetness threw the dish off. Tasting close to a ketchup spread, it clashed with the savory onions. Chili Peppers were present, but they did not contribute much spice to the dish. After eating a few of Darda's dishes, I can remember muttering "wow" under my breath with a smile every 5 minutes or so. The food quality was superb, the quantity was large, and the restaurant was clean with both Chinese and Muslim motifs and decor. I'd be inclined to call this one of the BEST Chinese restaurants in the SF Bay Area with a very high 5 star rating. This was once a go-to spot for me almost a decade ago, and it will continue to be one of my go-to spots in the coming years to come. Masterfully done, Darda! read more

I have only come for lunch, on weekdays and on weekends, but not dinner, so I can attest to their lunch items, including the Lunch Specials. I came for lunch recently with a large group from the office and we all ordered off the Lunch Specials Menu. However, the clever kitchen served the dishes family style so it looked like we got 9 large orders and seemingly endless steamed rice to share. We ate heartedly and well. The bill came out to less than $80 for 9 hungry adults including tips and 2 orders of onion bread and 1 fried bread - totally beyond reasonable for what we got. My friend took me here for a weekday lunch. Indoor dining area seems clean and spacious. The servers were pretty friendly but they didn't come to check if we need anything. Service was ok. The food we ordered. Instead of the lunch menu, we went for the noodles. It was a wise choice. Food we tried. #12 Jelly fish with cucumber. It was refreshing in this hot weather. It's not spicy so it fits my taste. #14 Three flavor hot noodle soup. It's got clam, calamari and beef with the option of knife cut noodles or the regular long noodles. We asked for the non spicy version of this because my friend doesn't want fish. You would think #13, the non spicy version would have the same ingredients as the hot version but this is not the case. #13 has fish in it and my friend doesn't want fish. It turns out that non spicy version for Three flavor hot noodle soup is very good! #4 under Noodles Soup - Chachiang Mein. This is like the Korean Jjajangmyeon. It was also very delicious. Super big portion. Ordered take out because we were too full for dessert but I really wanted to try the red bean pancake. I love this since I was a kid. Even take out tasted good. Food I want to try next time. #6 Spicy Ox Tripe was highly recommended by my friend but we couldn't order it this time around. She said it's really not that spicy. Im not sure Im being fair, but this review is base on this day only. First, I want to say good things ( next time) we should try order Mon-Fri lunch special ( Dad likes seafood & there seem to be lots of shrimp choice, fish choice, & squid choice of being black bean...& some spice choices & some veggie choice if I remember correct. But since it was weekend, no special which is fine. Lady walk by said quickly to check out the Dim Sum on back page ( I wish she did not say that to Dad). Although cheap, the whole Dim sum was full of bread ( Carbohydrates). The reason Im giving low review is the Red bean cake had very thin layer ( like paper thin Red bean...literally 2 or 1 teaspoon of Red Bean on thin layer of square dough. It was pretty small & charge 8.50. I hate it when restaurants charge 8.50 hardly any dough, hardly any Red Bean ( Paper thin!) and dough not even that crispy. Dad order one Sweet Soy bean milk, & one Salty Soy milk. The salty was allright...I liked the Sweet because it was not too sweet, but the temperature was not very hot. They did immediate give us tea but the teapot was only half full and not very hot neither. My mom being greedy drank most of the sweet soy milk. I was waiting for waitress to add hot water to teapot as Mom will drink the whole thing.....at least fill the teapot with hot water ( dont give just half a pot of tea). Dad order Egg fried Pancake or roll. Food is just ok now a day. Tastes used to be very good and meat used to be very fresh. They kind of go downhill recently. Service has always been average. The staff will get you want you want and give you want you need if you ask, so it is standard for most Asian restaurants. The thing I dislike the most is the bill. They don't list out what you ordered on the bill and they don't tell you 15% tip is mandatory because it will be added to the total amount even it is a party of 2. I needed to look at the prices on the menu to double check just to find out whether the bill was actually for my table also. If you asked, then they will print out an itemized receipt and included the items you order with tip amount already on it. I am sure half of their customers didn't even look or check, then pay and put another 15% tips on top of what they see at the bottom. If you enjoy the service, then good. If you didn't, then you probably get cheated without knowing that you may have paid more than 30% tip. A Halal Chinese restaurant that has been a staple at the plaza for quite some time now. It was my sister's birthday so we wanted to eat something that we can have family style so she decided to come here. In my opinion, this place is really known for their thick sesame bread with green onion and their handmade noodles. When you look around, every table has one of each. Here are some of the dishes in detail: - sesame bread is fluffy, bready and has a good nuttiness from the sea same and earthy aroma from the green onion - three flavor homemade noodles: noodles are very chewy and bouncy, stir fried well with their noodle sauce. Can taste little burnt ness from the wok hei - pickled cabbage lamb soup: lamb is very gamey and soup itself itself is very sour from the pickled cabbage, a combination of flavors that isn't for everyone We also got honey walnut prawns, beef with green onion, and fish with mushroom and snow peas. These were all great dishes, but you can typically find these at any Chinese restaurant. Food is good, service was bad this time. I've come for lunch on a weekday and service was wayyy better than dinner on a Saturday. Prices are pretty affordable for the portions and will definitely be a crowd favorite for asian parents. My favorites out of the dishes we ordered was the honey walnut shrimp and the beef chowfun. Food quality and portion sizes have gone down drastically. Prices on the other hand have skyrocketed along with them charging 20% service fee for mediocre and somewhat rude and rushed service. The place def needs a remodel as well. Back in the day servers would earn their tips with tending to your needs and checking up on you with a smile from time to time. We came about 30 mins before closing which was our first mistake. The soup was so good it hit the spot, but the chicken was not fresh or crispy. It was kind of soggy. The Mongolian beef was very flavorful. I'd come again, but probably at an early time. read more

The prices are super reasonable and service is fast, no-frills. Halal-styled Chinese food, meaning no pork. Seems like an oxymoron, but it works. The Chinese food here is legit. Out of the dishes we ordered, I highly recommend the lamb and pickled soup, the Szechuan fried chicken, the three flavors fried rice, and the shrimp with snow peas. Typical service for an Asian restaurant; efficient, but not the friendliest. Also, got charged an auto gratuity fee for our group of five of more, so just a heads up. Overall, legit Chinese food for good value and typical Asian service. I honestly had never heard of Halal-style Chinese food (probably because I wasn't looking) before coming here, so if you're looking for that kind of cuisine, this place fills in that niche. read more
