We came in on Father's Day and had a great meal. We got seated right away and staff were attentive and very helpful with helping us decide what to eat. Highlights were definitely the sesame bread with green onions, so springy and fresh and tasty. The salty soy milk was also very good, portions are pretty big. The vermicelli's with lamb and preserved greens came I. A big pot. Perfect for family styling. Inside is a no frills seating, classic Asian restaurant interior. Highly recommend for a family meal.

Have been coming to this restaurant for ages. I think it is the only original restaurant left in Milpitas Square. The restaurant is pretty spacious and decor is rather basic. You really come here for the food, not the ambience. The five of us ordered Hot Spicy Fish, Bean Curd Casserole, Bean Curd with Soup Stew, Dry Sautéed String Beans, Three Flavor Home Made Chow Mein, and of course our favorite Thick Sesame Bread with Green Onion. We came early on a Monday evening, so it wasn't too busy. This place can get pretty crowded. Food came out rather quickly and at a good pace. Their food is rather consistent and is usually pretty good. My favorite was the Three Flavor Home Made Chow Mein. The Bread was excellent as usual. Everything was tasty and delectable. Service was okay. Portions were big and prices were very reasonable and affordable. There are reasons why they can survive for so long even with a lot of competition!

I'm so glad, someone recommended this place. Now I have a new spot,to get my fried rice again. Great food. Wonderful flavor. Good service.

I went on a Friday night. This place gets packed! The food here is amazing. The staff are really nice. Unfortunately the inside isn't well maintained. I found myself stepping on chicken from a previous customer, and wrappers were left around the floor. The food comes out super quick. The bathroom is clean. Pricing is fair. Parking outside can be competitive. I'll be back!

Excellent scallion bread. I take an extra one to go every single time. Reliable place to get good halal chinese food, childhood favorite and good to see this place is still going strong. Could use extra staff to help clean more thoroughly/efficiently. Family style restaurant, prefer breakfast. Part of a big restaurant complex.

I ordered several dishes from Darda, and most of them were aggressively average. Nothing memorable--until the Mongolian beef and dumplings arrived and turned dinner into a survival challenge. The Mongolian beef looked like someone introduced thinly sliced beef to a bowl of mystery sauce, tossed a few crispy noodles on top, and hoped nobody would ask questions. It didn't look like Mongolian beef, didn't taste like Mongolian beef, and had a strange flavor that my taste buds are still trying to file a complaint about. Then came the dumplings. They were undercooked, dry, thick, and tough--an impressive combination that should not be physically possible. Each bite felt like chewing a leather coin purse filled with disappointment. "Dumpling jerky" is honestly the most accurate description. The photos are not misleading. That is exactly how the food showed up. Most of the meal was mediocre, but these two dishes went above and beyond to make sure I never forgot the experience--for all the wrong reasons.

I ordered several dishes from Darda, and while most were forgettable, two were so bad they completely ruined the meal. The Mongolian beef was almost unrecognizable. Instead of the rich, savory dish you would expect, it was a pile of thinly sliced beef drowned in a strange sauce with a few crispy noodles scattered on top as if that would somehow save it. It neither looked nor tasted like Mongolian beef. The flavor was oddly unpleasant and difficult to describe, but the easiest way to put it is that it was barely edible. The dumplings were even worse. They were dry, tough, and somehow tasted undercooked at the same time. The wrappers had the texture of leather, and chewing through them felt more like eating dumpling jerky than an actual dumpling. The photos speak for themselves. This was not a case of one dish being slightly off. The food looked careless, tasted worse, and left me wondering how it ever made it out of the kitchen. I would not return, and I definitely would not recommend this restaurant.

Always hits the spot. Must get sesame green onion bread (the thick version). The kung pao scallop was honestly not that great as the scallops are the small bay scallops with too much batter. Chicken and jellyfish is another favorite of mine as well as the lamb with green onion. The combination chow mein with the thick noodles also is good but they made theirs too oily the last time I went.

Tables, menus, OK basically everything is super sticky and dirty. I only feasted on 1.5 green onion pancakes, 1 cup of tea and the provided corn egg drop soup because I lost my appetite. Came around the lunch rush. No more line and no more waiting. Still quite a bit of folks. Serves halal. Been around for a very long time. Often see customers ordering noodle dishes. Ordered the 1) green onion pancake thick which was dry and lacked flavor but somehow hit the spot, 2) seafood combo noodle soup... noodles are good but seafood is overcooked with ants in the soup, 3) lunch lamb with pickled cabbage... lamb is the portion you get at hotpot's so it's overcooked but goes well with the green onion pancake, 4) lunch hot spicy garlic beef... beef is sliced chunks of beef so it's more held together and less overcooked They provide corn egg drop soup with lunch which was thick and part of the highlight of the meal. Service inattentive and could care less. You have to hail them down for anything and everything. Plentiful parking. Located within a rather large Asian plaza with 99 Ranch.

Read the other reviews for food. Mine will solely be for info I wish businesses were upfront about. This is my fight against hidden restaurant fee-flation and for price transparency. Price as of 3/8/26 Extra service charges or fees (other than tax and tip): none tip lowest default: 18% on receipt, but option to write own tip on line below (original receipt. i took home the customer receipt which doesn't show that section) Allows bill split/itemize: yes, split between 2 cards Note: default tip calculation seems to be based off subtotal + tax Fee transparency/fairness score: 3.5/5

We ordered the Shrimp & Walnut, Seafood Knife-Cut Noodles, and Sliced Fish with Black Mushrooms & Bamboo Shoots. I probably wouldn't get the shrimp and walnut again--it was over-battered--but the noodles and fish dish were both very good! This place is great for family-style dining, with generous portions and a home-cooked meal vibe. The staff was kind and welcoming. Next time, I'm planning to try one of their fried fish dishes. I also noticed a lot of tables ordering the Onion Sesame Bread with Green Onion--it looked popular, so we'll be trying that too.

I'll be up front and say that my family and I have been coming here since this place opened over 20 years ago, so I may be a little biased when it comes to this restaurant. While many things have stayed the same (the decor, most of the menu, and actually most of the wait staff!), there have definitely been some changes thru the years. They've had changes in ownership as well as changes in head chefs, though for the most part the recipes have always stayed intact, albeit with a learning curve for the new chefs as they get dialed in. Great Halal Chinese food all around, with fantastic sesame flatbread and my favorite, their seafood soup noodle with shaved noodles. We are big fans of their shrimp chow mein as well and their beef noodle soup. There's still the occasional hiccup where sometimes the seasoning of the food is a little under salted, but it still tastes good. As an aside, it's interesting to see the patrons thru the years. Many of the customers these days were kids that grew up eating at this restaurant with their parents, and now many are bringing their own children here as well. With how long this place has stayed in business the last 20 years, even thru the covid pandemic, you know this place is solid.

We came here to celebrate my niece and my son's high school graduation. We had ordered a set meal for 12 people. Everything was delicious. Service is great and atmosphere is great too. The place was packed for dinner. We were here from 6 to 7:30pm in a private room. By the time we were out, there were a line of people waiting for a table. Overall, we enjoyed all the dishes.

Ask the Community - Darda Seafood Restaurant

Are there any gluten free dishes?

    I don't believe so

Do they still charge 15% service charge when dining in? Is so, is it disclosed on the menu or on the bill?

As of Jan 3, 2024. The signage for 18% is still there. Looks like the restaurant wont understand until they go out of business. They need to change their policy to charge service tax for 5 or more people.

For Lamb with Chinese Pickled Cabbage Soup, what is exactly in it? Are any added sugars , sauces like soy sauces?

If you make it spicy U may not taste the sugar but yes it does have light soy sauces

Are they open to dine in? Thank you

No. They have take out open.

Tried calling this place yesterday and today and looks like they are shut? Anyone knows if they are open?

Yes, we are open for take out 11-2pm and 5-8pm.

How long has this place been open?

We have been going there for more than 25 years.

I heard that the owners have changed. Is the meat there still HALAL?

New owner is a Muslim and the old owners still have a stake in the business. All the meat is still Halal.

The Chinese sausage pieces sprinkled throughout added extra flavor too. The bowl is deep so there seemed to be roughly 5 cups of rice. Unfortunately the laksa shrimp fried rice was disappointing in comparison. It didn't have much flavor overall - better than plain rice but definitely needed more seasoning. The menu lists homemade laksa sauce as an ingredient but we didn't taste that, and the dish wasn't spicy at all either despite the 1 chili pepper rating. But it looked just like the menu picture so maybe the description is wrong. Fried chicken with tom yum sauce came with 6 pieces. Very juicy. We also enjoyed the herbal roasted prime steak with sausage rice. The delicious rice had the taste of fish sauce. Most of the short rib slices were soft and a few were slightly chewy but overall decent quality. Some of the fattier pieces of meat were still attached to the bone.

I came here on a Friday evening with my friend to grab dinner around 6:00 PM. The wait was around an hour, so be very prepared if you're coming during the dinner rush. This spot is located where the majority of the Asian restaurants are in Milpitas, so it's safe to say the parking can get a bit hectic and intense. The interior of the place is very bright, modern, and clean. There is a lot of seating for a small space, but the reason they are so busy has a lot to do with the number of people wanting to check this spot out. When you sit down, you scan their virtual menu via QR code and order there instead of through a server. You have the choice to order on one phone as a group or separately. Between my friend and me, we ordered a beef mint salad, fried tofu, confit mushrooms, and truffle mushroom rice. I will say that when we first got the fried tofu and confit mushrooms, we were quite surprised by the small portions compared to the price. That said, they were delicious, but skippable if you're trying to find the best bang for your buck. What I absolutely would recommend is their truffle mushroom fried rice. This might have been my best bite this month. It was so savory, the mushrooms hit perfectly, and the coating of butter on the rice was supreme. It was $28 for a bowl, but it was a good value to split between two people. Overall, this place had great, fast service (our food came out in under 10 minutes), a nice ambiance, and fresh, flavorful food.

A waiter told me they don't take credit cards when I was trying to pay. I was like, okay, maybe I should have done more research before I went there. So I tried to talk to him to see if there's any other options, like Zelle or Venmo, or maybe I can go to a nearby ATM and get some cash. He ignored me and did not respond, and left. Yes, maybe I should have read all the signs on the wall, but I really don't enjoy being blamed when I did nothing wrong. Assuming credit cards as one of the payment methods is not my fault, just how the society works. Anyway, I was able to pay them via Venmo, but I did not enjoy the experience at all.
