Solid Xi An flavors and respectable portion sizes. Xian Kitchen has been around for a long time and has always faced large crowds and high demand. This means there's usually a waiting period and a full restaurant with workers scrambling to get the food out. Can definitely feel hectic at times. This time, I came on a weekday during lunch service, so I was luckily able to snatch a table. We ordered the cold noodle with sesame (liang pi), pita bread soaked in beef soup (pao mo), twice cooked pork (hui guo rou), and the lamb spine chops (jiao ma yang xie zi). Food came out relatively quickly. The liang pi was chewy and the perfect amount of spice. It's an addicting dish to eat. I do wish there were more cucumber and kao fu (wheat gluten) in the dish to offset the spice and make the dish less one dimensional. The broth in the pita bread soaked in beef soup was rich, and the chewy pita makes it very filling. To be honest, there wasn't that much beef in the soup, making the dish feel more carb-heavy. The hui guo rou was cooked great. It was soft but also crispy, and there was a good mix of fatty and lean meat. There's a generous amount of doubanjiang, making it umami. It's usually a Sichuan dish but was still cooked well in a Xi An restaurant! The yang xie zi were very tender, making the meat easy to get off the bone. Not exactly too spicy, but did taste the cumin. A unique cut of meat that I'd recommend trying. I came here for Sunday lunch. There was no waiting line, and we were served immediately. We ordered a Chinese burger (Roujiamo), stir-fried shredded potatoes, and lamb noodles. All the dishes were flavorful, but a little greasy. I liked the texture of the noodles, which were chewy. The food is all very salty. Not the place to go unless you are used to it. Even the vegetables are extra salty.

Came here and was told that we need to share a table and got seated right away. Two other parties sat down. We ordered first and the appetizers came out shortly. But the main dishes never came out. Found that there is no distinction between parties when sharing a table in their ordering system and since we all ordered the same popular dishes the others were served first for some reason. I understand that sometimes miscommunications can happen, but when I politely asked where was my order I was told that it was already served and the server accused us of eating with out paying. Only after I showed her the table and she rechecked again she noticed the error, but offered no apologies and no remedies. The liangpi was soso, and so was the appetizers. We ordered braised chicken with potato and pepper (huge portion, great taste, just right amount of cooking time), cool noodle with sesame, dry cured beef, lamb burger. The service is fast considering it was a Saturday lunch time. The ambience is average but typically with a strip mall restaurant. Absolutely LOVED the noodles here! The workers were friendly and very helpful. You order off a QR code and food comes out pretty quickly! I ordered the 3 cold appetizer combo and the hot oil noodles with vegetables and pork and it id not disappoint! I was completely blown away by how much flavor was packed in the relatively simple looking noodles. Cold appetizer combo- You get to choose from a 6 tray cold table near the back of the restaurant. I got the pig ears, beef shanks, and cold potato strings. They were all delicious! Spicy, vinegar-y, very appetite opening. The beef was tender and the pig ears were nice and crunchy. Hot oil noodles- I loved how al dente an chewy the noodles were. Each noodle gripped onto the hot oil and flavor so well that it seemed as if each noodle itself was carefully coated with the oil. Solid no frills Chinese food! My partner and I shared the following dishes, which was more than enough for two people. Cumin Lamb Burger. This was just okay for me. I think it was really done nicely for the dish, but I don't think I'm a big fan of this Chinese burger bun bread. There's a decent amount of meat in here, but could probably use a bit more. There's lamb had a nice spice, but I prefer my lamb with more cumin seasoning. Spicy Oil Noodle was really good. The noodles were really bouncy. I thought that the sauce could have used a bit more flavor, but I really enjoyed the chew of the noodles. Sweet and Sour Pork was my favorite. The sauce had a really fantastic blend of sweet, sour and umami. The pork was nice and crispy. I was quite full towards the end of the meal but found myself picking this dish clean! Always a very safe favorite spot to go to when hankering for satisfying clear lamb broth noodles or spiced up cumin lamb dry noodles. The lamb noodles come with a hot broth that's very addictive, and slippery broad noodles. Add a dash of chilli! And haven't found a place that makes better liang pi (cold and gelatinous rice noodle appetizer dish) and serves such a hefty portion. You can order the version without peanut sauce. The servers are fast and courteous. It's a small place, the doors have this funny mirror tint on it so sometimes it even looks closed but then you open it and see it can be pretty full of people slurping away on their noms. Xian Noodles is a very cozy spot in Milpitas; inside a plaza where there are many other restaurants, 99 ranch, and boba spots! This location is self served by scanning their QR code, and you order from the mobile app. The mobile app comes with lot of flexible adjustment to your food like... less/more oily, less/more spicy, and etc. The food came out pretty quick, and quite big portions too! The onion fried mutton is super tasty, highly recommended, the other two dishes- braised eggplant, potato and pepper; and Braised beef brisket with dried beancurd was not what I expected. I'm a huge fan of biang biang style noodles (I think), and Xian kitchen was recommended to me as a great location for the dish. I went here about a year ago and had a notably unremarkable experience with their special hot oil noodle - the texture was not (IMO) QQ enough and flavor wise things just weren't "hitting". Perhaps I'm too big a fan of the other places in the bay area for this dish (qq noodle, ok noodle, etc) I went in here a second time in May and unfortunately things hadn't gotten any better. This time, I tried the pork bun which came back WAY too salty. And this is from a guy who loves/needs salty food to function (my body loves to sweat and smell bad - sorry!). Thankfully, the servers were kind and attentive enough to give us a new pork bun dish with less salt...but only because they put in significantly less meat! I opted for the hometown style noodle with vegetable and pork. Again, the flavors here were just...off. So was the texture of the noodle. A bit too much of a bite (for me). Maybe this is the most authentic place on the planet - I can't really speak on that credibly. I will say it's not somewhere I'm visiting again in the future. read more

We stopped through Milpitas on our way from Monterey to San Jose and loved this restaurant. Our party of 4 was seated immediately. Ordering is done online with photos of dishes, as well as chinese and english menu. This place serves Shaanxi dishes, including rou jia mo ('Chinese hamburger', a pita-like bread stuffed with braised slices of beef or pork with some fresh garnishes) a variety of noodle soups as well as the iconic yang rou pao mo (bits of pita-like bread scattered over a piping bowl of lamb/mutton stew). I tried the latter dish and enjoyed it, though was truly too stuffed to attempt to finish it. We also all shared an order of the beef roll, which is a scallion pancake rolled up with slices of braised beef. The pancake was thin and had the just-right chewy texture, and the beef was flavorful. Overall- We enjoyed our food, especially living on the peninsula where you just don't have the same amount of Chinese food options [south of Millbrae] as you do in Fremont, Milpitas, Cupertino etc. Greasy but delicious! Parking in this Ranch 99 (or rather, 99 Ranch) lot can be a major pain but in general the turnover is fast so you can find a spot and get some groceries, boba and pastries afterwards. Food / Dishes- We ordered the home style noodle with pork, eggplant and pork, and the green beans. Actual dishes were good but super oily - be warned and I would expect you are in the mood for rice with these. Noodles were still my fave - very good, tasted a tiny bit italian with some of the seasoning (in a good way), but those thick flat wide noodles were definitely Asian and the perfect texture of chewy. Would definitely order this again. Prices - Super reasonable for large portions. Service - Our server was not amazing ie I asked for a serving spoon and he gave me two tiny plastic spoons, I asked for takeout boxes to pack up leftovers and he gave my styrofoam boxes vs the plastic covered containers that would make much more sense for noodles and dishes with a fair amount of oil. That said there was another guy who helped us when I asked. Overall seems like some young guys who are waiting tables who are fluent in both English and Mandarin. This place deserves all the love it can get. Being a vegetarian there's not many options in the menu for me here, but I'm a regular customer of their hot oil noodles ( biang biang mien ). Noodles are hand-made and perfectly chewy, comes with a generous topping of scallions and flavorful hot oil with garlic. It's some of the best noodles I've had in my life. The peppercorn kick is one of my favorite things about Xian-styled foods, and this had plenty of peppercorn to pass around. Every bite was bursting with flavor. Cooked shredded cabbage - On the plainer, traditional side. Healthy and light. Sweet and sour pork fillet - Like orange chicken but pork and lighter.
