I heard from a friend about Darling so I stopped in for a couple drinks and a small bite to eat, but got WAY more than that! I came in on a Wednesday, so the vibe was pretty chill which was exactly what I was looking for. I ordered the lemon pepper wings and they hit the spot. The bartender Maricela honestly made my night though! Soo funny and attentive, and also very knowledgeable about drinks and liquor pairings! I'm a tequila girl but she recommended a gin drink, Purple Finch, and it was delicious! She is definitely the reason I'll be coming back, you don't come across bartenders like that often. read more

So I've had Darling Aviary on my list for two years. Usually the wait is ridiculous when I come to Sacramento. This time we only had a 20 minute wait at the downstairs bar. My partner went to the bar while I sat at a table, she waited 15 minutes while the bartender with the daisy shirt helped everyone else. I walked up to see if it was because she was a masc presenting, brown woman and a nice man named Emilio took our order, however when serving it, he spilled it all over my partner. He apologized profusely and scrambled to clean it. However we were ignored by the other bartender AND manager. Emilio paid for the round on him. We appreciated the kindness. We got our text to go upstairs and found a small table for us. My partner then went to bar to grab some bites and another drink. Again, we were ignored. The security guard noticed our uncomfortableness and asked if he could give our order to the server. We said, no, we felt defeated. The manager approached us and questioned how we have experience in customer service to compare. He offered fries but at this point I wanted to cry, 2 years of waiting, wasted! read more

The drinks was amazing as sometimes people get nervous during photoshoots and help them relax! They definitely discriminate on who gets to go up to the rooftop area. My girlfriend and I were waiting for close to 2 hours at the lower level having drinks while they has us on a "waitlist" to go up. They were letting LOADS of women up that were different from us--- I don't want to get into details on how they were different but Im sure you'll get the idea. As my friend and I are two simple brown girls. We even questioned why so many others were being let up to the rooftop while we were paying for drinks downstairs for over and 90 mins and they had nothing to say for it. The security admitted to us the person who had the waitlist told him not to let us up yet. I regret not leaving the place without giving them a dime. This was first time going to this place and will be my last. I do not recommend people coming here. First of all, staff don't know what they are doing. They are inconsistent and give wrong information. Our waiter - I think his name is Meena - was extremely rude and literally called me and my party a liar. This is NOT a place to have happy hour at because they were managing how many people can sit at your table. We attempted to be flexible as guests, but the staff were not welcoming, sassy, and plane rude. We literally just paid for our drinks and took off. It could have been a $600+ check, but they did not deserve our business. I'm only giving one star because the Paloma cocktail was really good. Otherwise, everything else sucked. Trendy place with an overpriced menu. The process of getting a table takes a long time and communication is poor. Way too much bravado at the front door during check-in - face scanner, lingering doormen, secret elevator, and no real seating process. Young women are ushered in without waiting. Very club like and overall childish seating process. The food is good. The drinks are ok. For a $15 drink I would expect some one at the bar or front door to act like they want me as a customer. Patrons are largely ignored by bar staff and food is painfully slow to come out. Maybe I came on an understaffed day. Mostly a waste of 2 hours of my life I can't get back. read more

Our first time here, I was turned away because I forgot my mask but it was weird because I witnessed plenty of people going inside without masks. No big deal, I went back to my car to get one and we ended up loving our experience and the outside rooftop vibe. Second time we came here, we were basically pressured to sit with some random couple and the host told us to make friends..... WORST. SERVICE. I was treated so rudely. They would not let me into the bar because I did not approach the check in station with a mask on. I was very polite and tried to flag my friend down who was in sitting at a table near the entrance. She had a mask for me and came over to give it to me. However the employee, who told me he was the manager, had already asked me to leave for "not being cooperative", even though I was being more than cooperative just explaining my friend had to bring me a mask! He led me out the door and refused to let me in even after I had a mask!! THIS IS RIDICULOUS, and I will never go back. read more

Came on a Saturday afternoon, and thankfully there was no line to get up to the rooftop! I got both the mule with the cucumber and mint, as well as the Paloma. Both were absolutely refreshing, but the Mule stole the show! You still need to get food here, so just got basic curly fries, which were fine, nothing special. I have previously had their cheeseburgers, which are small but filling. Their drinks selection is limited, but hoping they will extend it to the Flamingo house specials as well soon! read more

Whether it's a lunch or after concert nightcap- food and drinks are on point (that burger...). The rooftop patio is wonderful and a stone's throw from the Golden One Center. Great location, near DOCO which makes it convenient to get to. Great place to get some drinks before or after a basketball game/concert at Golden 1. Nice decor and vibe. If I could rate this place I would give it a zero. We had been waiting for 2 hours for our table, and while we were waiting this other group of friend came and mind me they got here an our after us. While we were waiting we saw the other group go in first so I asked the guy why did they go in if we got here before them and they were the same amount of people as us. The guy had said that they went in first because they were friends with the owner which is so unprofessional of them doing that. I do not recommend this place at all. Save your money and time.
