We went for lunch and there was only one other table but the waitress seemed very overwhelmed. Maybe with takeout. She got our drink order wrong twice - she gave me Thai tea when I ordered hot tea in the beginning and half way through the meal, she gave my friend got tea instead of hot water. She did check on us throughout the meal but felt like there were times we had to wait a while (to order, to pay, etc). The food came out pretty fast though. We got lunch combo options so it came with a few sides. Ramen was decent, kale tempura was good, vegetable curry was awful. This place was OUTSTANDING!!! I'm from the Bay Area and the hotel I was staying at was adjacent to dashiwa. I placed to a go order. The only complaint is, it wasn't ready when they stated. I sat inside and waited no worries at all, when I got to my room to eat my ramen, some of the veggies etc were cold like it was taken out of the fridge. Honestly annoyed at the service here today. My partner and I came in at 5pm on a Friday and the restaurant was nearly empty, but the waitress had told us to move from our table. I'm guessing she was thinking a larger group of people could have came in, but the restaurant was so empty that there were plenty of other seats. I was esp annoyed at this because it was pointless and unnecessary to have us get up and move when there's so many other empty tables. Felt like an inconvenience. The food is just pretty average, but if you're in for something quick, easy, and affordable this would be the spot. Beef Curry Udon is one of their best sellers. I wanted to have a casual lunch for Mother's Day and my husband found this spot because they had udon and ramen. I ordered the beef udon and my husband ordered the tonkotsu black combo. The combo comes with a side of vegetable curry rice. We ordered Ika geso (squid legs) for a side and the sake sampler. Everything was so good! Squid legs were perfectly breaded and crispy. The beef udon was very flavorful and the beef was soft. I saw mixed reviews of this spot after dining but I have to make a note that they went under new ownership over the past year. The restaurant itself has been opened since before Covid. We actually came for ramen but changed our food selection when we got here! Menu is via QR on table. We ordered the makesoba with chasu and chicken cutlet curry with a spam and egg musubi appetizer. Food came pretty quick! The musubi was tasty though it had a little too much rice that was not packed tightly so both halves fell apart after the bite. The spam was juicy and the egg was a nice sweet complement. The makesoba was great. A little noodle heavy it could have a bit more veggies. It came with vinegar, chili oil, and pickles on the side. I think it tasted great as is but the acidity and heat was a nice add. The egg added a nice creaminess to the egg and the pork was tender and moist. The corn still had a good sweet crunch! Be warned- we got really thirsty later! The curry was as expected; crunchy chicken cutlets with just the right amount of rice for the curry. There was also katsu sauce on the side. The curry had a half salted egg, but could have more carrots and potatoes for texture. We overheard conversation that maybe management will be changing in June 2024 and they may overhaul the ramen menu. At the end the host asked if we enjoyed our meal and gave us complimentary Thai ice tea to try. Wanted to try a new ramen spot for dinner tonight and found this restaurant close to home. It's an unsuspecting location from the outside but the inside is beautiful and very clean. Found this spot by chance and it was SO good! No wait, good prices, and super tasty ramen. We got the Mi-SO-Hot ramen (mild spice) -- we're not great with spicy food but this one was just right. I have been wanting to try this place for sometime but was never in the area and when I finally had the chance to go here I was happy! Dashiwa Ramen is located and nestled in a quaint strip mall next to other stores. Inside was nice and refreshing to the eyes meaning it had a welcoming ambiance. It was well lit and neatly decorated with Japanese regalia and their names of meals draped across on one side of the wall with a few tvs inside for you to enjoy watching something while you partake in ramen. The waitresses were kind and welcoming although I think they should be trained a bit more in not just hospitality but in speaking, they were very quiet and reserved especially the lady who was servicing us. I understand we were the first customers and we just arrived as they opened and they're working on a Saturday and let's face it nobody wants to work in a Saturday let alone in food which I understand completely I've been there however that does not excuse the people who work their to have a lack of smile and genuine welcoming to patrons and this goes for any establishment. For example I simply asked how spicy the Tonkotsu red was if it extra spicy was truly spicy and such and our waitress barely mumbled a word out and said something to the likes of "mmm yes spicy". It could be a language barrier or just ill training on basic conversation but that needs to be worked on in my opinion. But in any case I did enjoy the food! I got the Tonkotsu red with an extra egg and edamame on the side and my friend ordered the black garlic with a side of spicy powder and an extra egg. So first off the edamame was good it's just how it should be and cooked well. The ramen however I will say this; 1. The broth was surprisingly good! I enjoyed the flavor and aroma it gave and all the tare that was in it and it gave off a rich but at the same time not overtly powering flavor. It was just right! 2. It was not spicy at all haha. Granted I was sweating because like I think there's no AC inside and of course broth being hot can raise your temperature but other than that the extra spicy I got wasn't extra spicy at all like it was as if I was eating sriracha which is not very spicy. It was the same thing for my friends spicy powder that was on the side. Maybe our spice tolerance is higher than normal but either way it was just not living up to its spice level. I enjoyed the Chashu it was just right three slices but it was very small and to ask for more which was about 2-3 slices at the same size for $4 dollars was a bit much for what it's worth. The noodles were great and cooked Al dente which I enjoyed especially for the kind of noodles that were used for this dish. I think overall I enjoyed my meal just except for those few things.
