He also provided me with a sample of the fresh Agua de Jamaica (hibiscuis iced tea) which was so delicious and I was excited to have this as a drink option, as I do not drink sodas. I took a seat outside at one of the tables, which I will admit are a little bit rickety - they could benefit from some more sturdy tables/chairs without slats in them but they did the job. I enjoyed having the beautiful view of the hills to look at and my order came out quickly. I was immediately impressed with the portion of fries and what appeared to be a beautiful looking burger. I have had some pretty negative smashburger experiences in the area, so it was an absolute delight to pick up this burger and not have the bun be soggy or falling apart - the bun was fluffy, not soggy at all, and did a great job at holding everything together. The ingredients were all incredibly fresh tasting and flavorful and I really enjoyed the bacon jam, even though I don't typically like bacon. It had grilled onions in it and also did not overpower the flavor of the burger. I was also glad that this burger was not overly salty, as has been my experience with some other smashburgers. The fries were also very tasty. I managed to finish everything and was very full after - definitely come hungry! Cannot wait to come back here again and will definitely be recommending Mr. Chubby as the smashburger king of Ventura! Parking can be a bit difficult in the area, depending on the time you come.
