Fantastic. Best fast food fried chicken in the East Bay. I also love how hot some of their options are. I personally like the Extra Hot and one day I want to try the Reaper option. Order from their app for rewards and cheaper options as opposed to using delivery apps. The ONLY negative is that they actually did NOT give me cheese in the sandwich I paid extra for. I wanted to give this place more stars but I was disappointed. I got the combo #1 which included two tenders topped with pickles and fries accompanied by the signature sauce. I am a big fan of fried chicken so I was really excited about to try this place. Unfortunately, the tenders were very dry despite putting a good amount of sauce. I'm not sure what kind of spices are used at this establishment but I kept getting a strong taste of cumin which felt like it overpowered the other spices and did not have a great taste. On the other hand, the fries were good especially when paired with the sauce. The service overall was very good, the staff was quite friendly, and all surfaces were clean. Even though our food wasn't up to par, the atmosphere was good and we got our food quickly. Still not sure if I will be returning. read more

We were our way to the local AAA office to do some DMV business and spotted this new location for Dave's Hot Chicken. We decided to try it. It was mid afternoon and all my wife had was a small Vanilla Milkshake and I had their #1 - two large Chicken Tenders and French Fries. I told them I wanted my chicken "mild" when I was asked if I wanted it (spicy) hot? It had just a hint of being spicy hot - which was what I wanted. They also offered my choice of dipping sauces but I declined because I wanted to assess the chicken on it's own and not rely on a topical sauce to jazz it up. The chicken was moist, tender and had decent flavor. The Fries was pretty good - just slightly crispy on the outside and fairly tender inside. My wife said the Vanilla Shake was pretty good - not great but very decent. That's the good news. The chicken was a bit of a salty side. I wished that the fries were a tad more crispy on the outside, All the condiment sauces were in plastic pouches and you have to ask for them. They're not out for self service, The catsup was their own brand but it was too sweet for my taste. And I wasn't terribly happy about the value for what we got. The small shake was in a 14 oz. paper cup That's pretty small for $4.49! And two pieces of chicken tenders and a small side of fries was pricey for fast food at $12.49. The best part of this experience was, oddly, the simplified menu. The main menu consists of only 4 menu items. Please see the full menu shown below. This meant that there was a lot of confusion for a newcomer like me! It was simple and straightforward. It appears that the kitchen only has to cook the fries and the chicken tenders. The sliders are simply chicken tenders on a small roll. Having said that, my simple order of just 2 items should have been ready in just a few minutes. That's not what happened! It was closer to 15 minutes. In fact, I went back up to t he counter to ask about my order thinking that maybe they gave it away to someone else or it got lost in the shuffle. Nope, they were just slow getting their orders out. When we first went in, there was no line. By the time we got our food, it was pretty crowded with a line that almost went out the door. They've been open just 2 weeks but it was clear that most of the staff was still not up to speed. Most of the staff can only one thing at a time - they appear not to be confident enough to try multi-tasking. So there were a lot of people behind the counter but not getting much done. OMG was this bad! The good news, the chicken was tender (but tasteless). The bad: -cold soggy very small krinkle cut fries -tender and slider seasoned crust was just awful. Scraped it off -tender served on store bought slice of white bread -slider was served on commercial bun (think McDonalds) with totally tasteless kale slaw with store bought pickle slices. -Over twice the price of KFC classic chicken sandwich Save your money. My review is based on the delivery. I needed dinner but didn't have time to go out and get it so I ordered through Yelp for delivery. It was peak dinner time so I already knew there would be some what of a wait. I ordered their 2 tenders medium spice with fries. My order took about 30 mins before it go to my door. It was still hot which was great, so I didn't have to heat it back up. On the outside it looked dry, I assumed the spice that was put on basically covered the entire tender. But when I pulled it apart it was nice and juicy, yum! Loved their sauce and I tried the chicken with the honey packs they gave me and that was a great combo too. The honey helps if the spice gets too much LOL I had this before in LA and it is so great to have it close to home now :) read more

Just OK, in my opinion. But wildly popular, so maybe my opinion is wrong. Came here for their soft opening and have been back a few times since since it's practically in my back yard. The fries are way too salty, and the milkshakes are pretty lackluster but the chicken itself and the mac and cheese are pretty good and I love the way the store looks inside. I don't know if it's me but I was super impress with the chicken from here. It just taste like your average fried chicken. I don't typically like spicy chicken so I got the no spicy version and for someone who doesn't like spicy at all it wasn't bad but there was some spicy. First time ever trying daves hot chicken and to be honest I don't get what the hype is about. I walked in the restaurant and it literally smelled like musty armpits. This place is busy! I had the Hot slider and Medium chicken bits. Overall the chicken was amazing, flaky crust and seasoned well (almost too well). The main issue I had was a penalty preference of the execution. The slaw on the soft bread just made things soggy. The pickles were crisp but lacked acidity. I was really excited to try Dave's. My teenage kids have been begging me to come here so we made the 40 min drive. I wanted to love it, I really did. Maybe it's the fact that my standards were really high that left me more on the disappointed side. Was it bad? No, absolutely not. Was it the most amazing delicious hot chicken sandwich I ever had that I would be dreaming about? No, absolutely not! I got the medium level chicken slider meal. This new chicken sandwich stop has been nagging at me since I heard it was coming to dublin. My friend's have always said it's pretty good from the other franchises in san jose and down in socal; which just egged me further to want to try this place. First off, the place seems very busy since it's still in the grand opening and new thing in area hype. Wait time's about 15 minutes, which could change depending on the day(the day I visited this time was sunday); it was 1 hour wait on 2nd week of opening so I held off tasting this place until now. Inside is clean, its got enough place to stand or sit down and wait for your order. I don't know why they only use 1 of the 2 registers when its line out the door. Anyways enough of that... onto the food. First note is if you order take-out be ready for a greasy exterior container as I'm assuming the ones handling the chicken prep also handle the packaging in the kitchen. On first look it certainly looks great. The taste is also pretty good when you mix it with either honey or the dave's sauce(It really just tastes like mayonnaise+ketchup and some spice). The sauce helps dampen the sodium levels as someone else also stated in their review its quite high. The coleslaw was also a great help in balancing it out which why I chose it over the fries. I chose medium spicy because I wanted to taste the seasoning and the chicken and not be blown away by the heat: it was okay for medium. The pickles were a bit disappointing as I thought they'd be something special but they really do taste like the ones you can get in a jar at the convenience store. Tenders were very juicy, cooked through for sure, crust was thin and crispy full of flavor. If it wasn't for the high sodium bomb per bite I probably would've given this place a 5. Pricewise... it is a little on the high end but I mean prices are going up everywhere these days. But the portion of chicken you get is pretty decent. The grease level is also pretty okay unlike some places with lower price but has even more salt+oil content per bite. Would I come back? Sure. Would I recommend it to others? I would but just make sure you're okay with high salt content. read more
