Try it!!! Leaving an event in Watertown and we were all starving! As we were driving down Needham street we spotted Dave's Hot Chicken! Thanks to all the social media videos of folks eating Dave's my kids were excited to try it themselves. The space itself was so fun with all the pictures of the main character chicken! Not a minus against the restaurant itself (it is what it is), but parking in this plaza is awful when it's busy - easiest to find a spot between Boston Ski+Tennis and Sierra Trading Post, but leaving is bad no matter where you are. Also, there are occasionally crazy lines here around meal times, but the kitchen moves quickly so don't be worried by the number of people waiting. This place literally serves 1 thing in 2 different form factors - Nashville hot chicken in various spice levels, either as a tender or in a slider. Definitely get the sliders unless you really just aren't hungry, the slaw and sauce are worth it. Regarding the chicken, don't go reaper the first time you come. I eat pretty much anything spicy and I came one time thinking I was hot stuff and ended up needing a whole milkshake for myself - oops. For reference, I do Mrs. Renfros Ghost Pepper Queso no problem. Definitely start a little lower... I almost always split the 2 sliders meal - it's a lot of food for just one person, though it's doable if you want to be full. Dave's Hot Chicken where do I start. I traveled all the way from New York to Massachusetts to try the famous Dave's Hot Chicken. There is one that recently opened up here in New York City but it is impossible for me to get in because the lines are always wrapped around the block. I got the Dave's combo number 2 and 2 tenders on the side both lite mild with fries. I must say it was very good. Generous portion sizes. The fries to me were very fresh and seasoned. The slider bread, kale slaw, and pickles in addition to the chicken make this the perfect sandwich! The spice levels are perfect for anyone-from those who don't want any spice all the way to the more daring spice fanatics. Honestly, skip any other eatery like Chick-Fil-A, Wendy's, etc. Dave's gives you QUALITY chicken and ingredients so you don't feel disgusting after you eat it. And for the prices they offer the food, it's a win win. Lastly, their staff is SO NICE. It was my first time there and I messed up the order and they quickly helped to accomodate. They are also really patient, they all have smiles on their faces the whole time, and they move that line along very quickly. They genuinely seem like they enjoy helping customers and this day and age in the food industry that can be tough to find so kudos to the Dave's team for offering such great food and hiring awesome people. Maybe it's cause I ordered Mild but the two sliders and cheese fries were great and the pickles were a nice touch to an already awesome meal. I used Uber eats for my order. I ordered 2 tenders w/ fries and 2 sliders w/ fries. I replaced both fries with Mac and cheese at no cost since fries don't usually sit well for deliveries. The mac and cheese was decent, on par with Popeyes and kfc so nothing special. The tenders come with slices of bread. I got the hot and reaper for the tender order, extra hot and reaper for the slider order. I enjoy how each tender is a different color depending on the heat level ordered. The extra hot was my favorite based on the flavor and heat combo. The reaper delivered in heat and flavor and honestly thought it was covered in one chip challenge dust. It hurt more on the way out than it did on the way in, so be wary of that. The hot flavor is probably good for anyone who doesn't want too much heat, but likes to accompany spice with flavor. I don't think I'd order the reaper again since I think others are more flavorful, but I appreciate any place that delivers on heat without holding back. The only thing holding this back from being 5 stars is the price. This place is essentially five guys burgers and fries except for chicken. Delicious quality food, but hard to justify the price. Ubereats charges $1-2 more than menu prices, but for 2 tenders, bread, and a side costing $15, it's steep. I will say that the 2 sliders and 1 mac and cheese did a nice job of filling me up and the tenders were all decent sizes. Oof, what an experience. Open late and a great hang out spot, I came here with friends late on a Friday night. We ordered all the heats of the chickens between us, and we're so happy with how moist and juicy the chicken was. In terms of spice level, I would not underestimate the Diablo and Extra Hot! Line moved pretty fast and service was super friendly which is always very appreciated when places are super busy! The menu is fairly straightforward, how spicy do you want your chicken? And do you want it on a bun? I tried an medium and mild. I thought the medium was perfect as it was spicy enough without ruining the flavor of the chicken or Dave's Sauce. Also had the fries and a strawberry shake.
