I've been eating L&B Spumoni Gardens for as long as I can remember, and it remains exactly what it's supposed to be: loud, crowded, unpretentious, completely its own thing, and ridiculously good. The sit-down food is classic Brooklyn Italian comfort food, the portions are generous, and obviously you finish with the spumoni. This isn't precious food and it isn't trying to impress anybody. That's precisely the point. Brooklyn has changed about 9,625,247 times in my lifetime. L&B is still L&B. Five stars. Always.

We visited as a stop on Scott's Pizza Bus Tour, which meant we were actively evaluating it against some of the best pizza in the city. Evaluating pizza on a tour is tricky because excellence becomes relative when you are eating multiple high-end pies in a single afternoon. According to Scott, Brooklyn DOP began in founder Thomas Ardito's apartment during the 2020 lockdowns. With his primary work on pause, he started baking pizza and selling pies through Instagram to pay his rent. People kept ordering. His friend Jason D'Amelio joined the effort, and what started as an apartment project turned into pop-ups and eventually a brick-and-mortar shop on 5th Avenue in Park Slope. That is a considerably more compelling origin story than a corporate franchise business plan. The setup in Park Slope includes a quiet back courtyard, which offered a comfortable spot for our group to sit, eat, and recover between stops. It feels relaxed and distinctly Brooklyn without trying too hard to remind you where you are. The pizza itself is very good. The crust strikes a proper balance between a crisp bottom and a chewy interior. The toppings are handled with care, from the crushed tomatoes to the fresh mozzarella. This is dough crafted by people who take fermentation seriously rather than relying on pre-packaged shortcuts. On its own merits, the pizza is a solid 4.5 stars. Unfortunately for Brooklyn DOP, it was competing on a tour against places operating on another plane. It is an excellent pie, but it was not the single slice that caused the entire tour to fall silent in collective awe. Still, that is an aggressive standard to hold against any local shop. Brooklyn DOP offers a great courtyard, a serious approach to dough, and a standout product. Landing just shy of five stars says far more about the sheer volume of elite pizza we ate that day than it does about the shop itself. Four stars. And if you are not spending the afternoon riding around New York with Scott Wiener eating pizza at some of the finest pizza joints the 5 boroughs have to offer, you can probably bump that half-star back up.

Lots of seafood and the pasta was fantastic! Nice bottle of wine at a reasonable price. Good service. Frankly, I think the prices were cheaper than what I pay in Austin area, and the food and venue were authentic and much better than in Texas!

Review: What Happened to DaVinci's? I used to swear by DaVinci's as having the best pizza in Brooklyn, but unfortunately, it's gone downhill in every way. The pizza is now absolutely horrible--bland, soggy, and nothing like it used to be. But what's worse is the attitude of the staff. The service is rude and disrespectful; they act like it's a privilege for you to even be there. To top it off, they throw the pizza on a silver tray, which never seems to be washed, instead of using a plate. When I politely asked about it, they actually said they had the right to be nasty because they'd been working all day. That kind of attitude is unacceptable. It's a shame, because DaVinci's used to be a go-to spot for great food and a friendly atmosphere. Now, it's just a disappointing experience all around. I won't be coming back anytime soon. read more

Da Vinci pizzeria is the best in the world. I've been going here for years since I was little and the pizza, calzones, and rolls are just too delicious! I recommend this place for everyone(teenagers, kids, elderly, families, friends, etc). The place is friendly and amazing for birthday parties. The pizza is definitely worth the price... I can even eat the tomato sauce by itself... so full of flavor! The workers and managers are always funny and very nice! My family from Florida, Pennsylvania, and even New Jersey come here as soon as they arrive to Brooklyn. Matter of fact I just finished eating here 30 mins ago. :) read more

People today don't know good pizza.. just read a previous review and cant believe someone could actually say Da Vinci's quality has gone down. I go there at least once a week, and their pizza is still the best. Always fresh, consistent and the owner is friendly and even brings over your pizza for you. They recently renovated and it looks great, they believe in 18th Avenue and continue to invest in their business. Give me a break about prices going up.. Pizza is still the cheapest "eat" out there. Buy a cupcake buddy.. there $2.50!!!! I will always love Davinci Pizza. read more

Da Vinci's is a Bensonhurst icon. The pizza is so uniquely delicious that I make trips in from New Jersey just to taste it. I love the square pizza so much, with its generous portion of the freshest mozzarella, crispy and tasty crust, and zesty sauce, it can't be beaten!! I haven't been back to Brooklyn in a really long time.. I am here visiting family, so I decided to visit a few of my favorite spots, DaVinci Pizza being one of them. I was so impressed with the new and very modern decor. The owner is still the same family from 40+ years ago. I believe it is the son now who owns it. The pizza, I had 2 squares were delicious. In March and April I was in Brooklyn for a vacation period. After some days of hamburger, chicken, etc I desired to eat something "italian". I tasted a lot of pizzeria in Bensonhurst, the average level wasn't bad, but the "Siciliana" and the "Calzoni" that I ate by DaVinci has been absolutely the best of my tour, I went back there a lot of time, enjoying the atmosphere that sometimes can suggest you to be "a casa mia", and the staff treated my little daughter so kindly!. It's worth the trip. Family owned for over 35 years. the best people and friendly. The best squares since forever. Excellent white slices and garlic knots. There a huge room upstairs. I love eating at DaVincis, their food is great and the people that work there are super friendly. I always eat there when I'm out on 18th ave. The place is even nicer now that they renovated. The eggplant is breaded to perfection, cheese is plentiful and high-quality and sauce has a slight sweetness to it. Crust is crispy on the outside has what I believe are sesame seeds all around the edges which just adds to the gloriousness of this pizza. What we tried for the first time tonight was the margarita pizza pie, half meatball and half eggplant. Simply amazing.

However, when I got there they said it was a 50 minute wait. I said forget that! Let me go try a slice of the pizza from this place that I saw on my way up there. And as fate would have it, I did! I ordered two slices of the grandma pizza and an order of the garlic knot twists while I waited. As soon as I tried the sauce with the twists, I knew I had made the right decision. Someone mentioned the prices were fair, but I was charged $5 for what was supposed to be a buffalo chicken slice--easily one of the worst slices I've ever had in Brooklyn. It tasted nothing like actual buffalo chicken, and there was hardly any sauce to speak of, whether buffalo or marinara. To top it off, there are no prices listed anywhere on the board, leaving them free to make up prices on the spot. Make sure you explicitly ask for the price before you pay to avoid getting overcharged.

Most recently, I got the plain pie and it left a lot to be desired. The pie wasn't very flavorful and soggy. It was very underwhelming. The crust was plain and had no flavor. I am not sure if they use a different sauce for the regular and Sicilian but it was definitely lacking when I get the plain.
