Came here for the first time the other night and I really enjoyed myself. It's right along the marshwalk and there's seating inside and out. They often have live music and the two times I've been in they've had some awesome bands. The decor inside is kitschy lots of writing and pics of well dogs that have passed. Hence the name dead dog I suppose. We started with the nachos. Pretty much just cheesy chips with chili. Nothing remarkable but suitable for sharing. They also gave us hush puppies with butter. Yum. For dinner we all had steaks. They were cooked and seasoned very well. The beers were cold and flowing. The music was great. A little turned off by the "palmetto" bugs scurrying about but you'll get that down here. All in all it's a great place for a good meal and a good time with friends. read more

The butter that comes with hush puppies is amazing but the hush puppies, ehh. All the dogs on the walls, when you realize they have all gone to doggy heaven is a little sad. Having dined at Dead Dog at least three to four times a year over the past decade plus, the service and wait time was the worst ex I've had there. After being told the wait was an hour, I was told that the wait would be amother 1/2 hour. The band which was setting up for 1.5 hours justified the removal of 6 paying tables. The lack of in in satisfying paying customers while allowing individuals to hold onto one drink and occupy a table for over an hour lacks management oversight on running the business. read more

This has been a family favorite for 10+ years. The atmosphere starts before you get through the door. You can dine inside or outside. The hush puppies and fish bites are crowd pleasers. Many nights their is live Entertainment and the view of the Inlet can't be beat. read more

As vacationers, we have eaten at Dead Dog Saloon one other time in October. Then, we thought the food was decent. This time the food was just OK. It's a little on the pricey side for generic food. I had a shrimp basket. The shrimp was good. The fries were cold and not very tasty. Others at the table had ordered mac & cheese. It was very very dry. The complimentary hush puppies brought to the table were cold also. I don't know if this will be on our list to go to for next vacation. read more

Fried oysters were terrible...had to spit portions of them out bc they were too tough to chew. We went here because of the weird name! But we are glad we did. We went to the outside deck with the live music and it was amazing. The waitress was nice. They have ample parking space and it could fit so many people(literally). The Jambalaya was awesome. Thai veg curry with shrimp was just average. The live music was amazing. People here were tipsy and dancing and it was amazing to watch them. The cool sea breeze makes you relax. Definitely a must-go place for dinner if you are in the neighbourhood. 4-stars because I think that the food could be better, but 5-stars for the ambience and the environment read more

My absolute FAVORITE restuarant to visit when I'm in Myrtle Beach. Absolutely love the food and the large selection of drinks. Especially "Gator P***" you'll have to try it to understand. Also the view on the deck is fabulous. The decorations are awesome, and the memorial wall of pictures of decreased pets are awe inspiring tribute. The DDS really cares about their customers and their pets. I highly recommend DDS for families, tourists, date night, and seniors. Nice amount of crab...delicious mango salsa. Huge portion. Cuban sandwich and fries were good. Shrimp basket and onion rings- I think there was 9 shrimp. Nice sizes, good taste. Onion rings were a $3 up-charge. Decent amount of onion rings but fairly greasy! Waiter did not come back with drink refills. Cute deco... dogs. Amazing food! I got the Heavenly Inlet Trio and it was the most delicious food I've ever had. The crab cake was so yummy and fresh! I've eaten a bunch of crab cakes in my life, and this was by far the best I've ever had! There were CHUNKS of large crab meat in there. The scallops were so soft and buttery and just melted in your mouth. The shrimp was also so good! They were grilled and had fantastic flavor. They brought out hush puppies as an appetizer and served them with honey butter and it took all of me to not eat my body weight in those. Excellent service and a great environment all around. I loved seeing all the remembered dogs on the wall and it created a unique dining experience! Highly recommend!! read more

My wife and I had lunch here and the teriyaki wings and club sandwich were delicious. The club is made with real turkey not that processed stuff. You will not leave this place hungry. Hostess was less than kind. Gave us our wait time sent us on our way. We were quoted an hour fifteen but only waited about 30 minutes. Hush puppies didn't look great but coupled with the butter they were quite good. The food though, was not good. We ordered the Cajun pasta with blackened chicken. Received over cooked grilled chicken and the blandest Alfredo sauce we've ever had. Also, had the boo boo bites, the bread was soggy and the Parmesan was so overpowering. Please know I've always loved Dead Dog Saloon; I'm a local & I've been a regular there for many, many years. Murrells Inlet is a small community and this is a family run, family friendly restaurant. I've always been a fan, but today's service was so amazing that I had to write a five-star review. Today, my 93-year-old mother decided at 10:30 am that she wanted Eggs Benedict from Dead Dog (nothing else would do) and I am fully aware that breakfast cuts off at 11 am. I knew I couldn't rush her old bones enough to make it there in time, so - I took a chance and called. I spoke to Amelia (? I'm cloudy on that name; please forgive me!) and asked if I could order the food over the phone. She hesitated for only a moment and then said happily, "Yes, I can certainly do that for you." She assured me she'd give us a little time to get there; she'd put the order in right before 11. I said we'd be there as soon as we could and we'd like to sit at the outdoor bar facing the water. Well, not only did she accommodate my request, when we got there the bartender at the outdoor bar (Forest) had set up the "best seats in the house" facing the water with our table settings and full glasses of ice water waiting for us. We felt like the red carpet had been rolled out for us! We had just been at Dead Dog for breakfast a week ago, and I have a feeling my mother will insist I take her once a week as often as we can! (Not sure if I should thank you or not for that - tee hee!) Anyway, I'm a local and a big fan. The food is consistently good; the Boo Boo Tender Bites are one of my favorite dishes ON THE PLANET. On vacation with friends, we stopped in for dinner. We sat outside, the weather was perfect and the service was great. I ordered the salmon & it was cooked well; i would definitely recommend a teriyaki glaze or something on top to give it more flavor. Go with the mac n cheese as a side, it's yummy. The Dead Dog Saloon is a very busy place in August! They DO NOT take reservations but you check-in and they text you when you arrive...40 min wait when we got there at 6pm. We sat on the patio. The fried green tomatoes awere perfectly fried crunchy and topped with feta and sat atop baby spinach with a drizzle of a raspberry vinegarette. The crab nachos were way plenty for two of us and made with wonton rather than nacho chips (much better) and topped with pico, green onions, chopped tomotoes. We also each got angel skewers~ which are bacon wrapped scallops...came very hot and tasty! The food was an absolute 5-stars, the waitress very friendly but we had to try to track her down for napkins and to pay we had to finally go inside and pay after 30 min wait. That is the only reason I did not give the Dead Dog a 5-star rating. read more
