The food here was really good. Arrived here and was greeted by the friendly staff. We were seated right away and chose to sit outside on the covered deck. Our waitress was wonderful and was prompt with our order and food delivery. The pulled chicken was 4/5. The pulled pork was 5/5 and the ribs were fall off the bone and slightly on the dry side, but the taste made up for that. I don't like to dip my ribs in extra sauce although that would have helped. Overall this was a wonderful place and would definitely recommend. Many fine options on the menu and they have a kids menu too. This will be on our list to come back to if we visit again. This place gets a solid 3 stars. It's your run of the mill beach restaurant. We went there for breakfast and it was okay. The service was about average: not good, not bad, just okay. The food was the same. The best thing or maybe the saddest thing was all the photos of dogs who are no longer here to make us happier. It was sweet to see the love the owners had in every photo. The salad was basic, had too much dressing and lacked any flavor. The tacos were soggy, pork lacked flavor. This is by far my favorite resturant to visit when I come to South Carolina. The atmosphere is just a casual place that honors family members of all who wish to partake in their wall of man's best friends. The servers are always kind and attentive, though when the place is packed expect chaos. Food is always good, sand they always have great cocktails. I personally always get the Gator Piss (don't be turned off by the name!). What's really great is the live music they always have on a stage. Never disappoints! I went to the Dead Dog on 6/24/25. I live this place , as does my family. We always go when we hit Myrtle Beach. This visit was different. Our waitress was generally non-interested in taking care of us. My parents, husband and I were sat at a small table. We ordered an appetizer, crab dip, so good. However, before we had hardly had a bite, our food was brought to the table. We did not have enough room at our table for the appetizer and our food. Our waitress hardly checked on us. Then, my father went to pay the check. They use the little hand held credit card devices. He is older and isn't super tech savvy. The waitress rolled her eyes at having to help him, then hovered over his shoulder to see if she would get a tip. She did not deserve one, but he gave her one. We felt like we were being pushed out and could not enjoy a family dinner. So disappointed!!!! read more

Really cool restaurant and bar! Sat on the covered patio where bands play and a bar exists. Service was great and fast- even when packed. Highly recommend blue crab nachos on wontons as an app. - very generous and tasty. All food was fine and drinks were good. The band playing was decent too. Recently, me and my father went on a vacation and this was the first spot we ate at. Although quite pricey, the food was incredible and certainly worth the cost. The restaurant was fairly packed, but we were quickly given the choice to sit inside, outside, or under the covered patio, which we chose outside. Our waitress was absolutely incredible, constantly checking up on us. Also, the view from our table was great, and the live band playing made the environment that much better. Amazing place. Food, service excellent. We have never been to this area of South Carolina. After driving all day, wanted to find for quick dinner. I ordered the boneless caliente bites. There must have been 30 to 40 boneless bites. Great BBQ sauce. My husband had the club sandwich and could only eat half. Service was great. Our waiter was friendly and accommodating. There were many restaurants to choose from on the Murrells Inlet MarshWalk, but we settled on the Dead Dog Saloon based on the reviews, crowd, and buzzing atmosphere. We put our names on the list and had to wait about an hour for our table. Once we were seated on the spacious deck, we confirmed that the vibe lived up to our expectations, but not much else did. My margarita was extremely strong and full of what appeared to be artificial mix. My Pulled BBQ Chicken was oddly served with the sauce on the side, exposing the dry, bland, dark meat chicken being utilized. The barbecue dish came with 2 side dishes, and I opted for the Roasted Vegetables and Cilantro Lime Rice. The veggie plate included zucchini, red pepper, and yellow squash, and was actually tasty. The rice, on the other hand, was pretty dry and bland. I would say that the Dead Dog Saloon would be more of a spot to hang out and have fun than it would be to dine. read more

Been to Dead Dog multiple times before and had a good experience, however, this time was a total miss- from service to food! Got there mid afternoon and place was pretty empty! Got seated promptly but was close 10" before the server came to our table. Took our order, got our drinks, and seemed to take forever for the food to come out. The hot Italian was barely warm as were the fries and the shrimp tacos literally cold. Having tried to eat one cold taco, finally flagged down our server to explain the situation only to get a dissertation on corn tortillas! The tortilla was soaked in on the bottom and fell completely apart! Being from Texas, I finally interrupted her and told her it was not edible! Waiting another 15", a new shrimp taco plate came out looking much better and hot. The presentation was good and the food hot- obviously someone in the kitchen who knew what they were doing prepared it. After finishing the meal and no sign of our server for 10", I flagged down another server letting her know we needed our server to check out. Waiting close to another 10", she came to the table with more excuses! I'm not sure why there are so many employees and servers running around when they're not busy and we get such poor service! After demanding her to just let me sign off on the check with her Mini pad, we proceeded to leave. On the way out, I asked the hostess if the Manager was available and she quickly checked. She informed me the Manager was in a meeting would be at least 5"! I informed her I was done and walked back. I am a permanent MB resident and strongly support our local businesses but will definitely not be back to Dead Dog. I like love entertainment, but we could barely hear each other talk and we were as far away as possible and still be in the same establishment. I cannot image if we sat closer, might have been a different experience. The smoke house items were all terrific, especially the brisket. Very good and a very nice sized portion. The drink and beer menu lacked, especially if you are looking for some local brews. Almost non-existent. The she Crab soup was luke warm at best but very tasty. And enjoyed the 10pc chicken wings with 2 sauces on the side. The steamed shrimp did not disappoint and enjoyed it with the house cocktail sauce. We waited an over an hour on a Sunday night checking in at 7pm. We got seated at 8:12. We were ready and ordered right away and our food came right and quickly. the live music was lively and very loud. we were happy to be seated. Overall, a definite go to spot. We came he wondering why on earth anyone would name a restaurant "Dead Dog Saloon." It's obvious when you walk in the front door. There are dead dogs hanging all over the place. As we walked in a Golden Retriever was hanging right in front of us and a pug was hanging directly to his right. German Shepards, Dachshunds, poodles, mutts of all kinds. They were all just hanging there. These were family pets at one time. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Dead dogs stacked up everywhere in that lobby. My wife and I had tears in our eyes. Fortunately they were all pictures in frames and not actual dog corpses. But it is a beautiful tribute to their customers' pets. Service was top notch in my opinion. This place can get packed and loud but our server was n top of it all. The food was actually better than I expected. Take a look at the picture of the hush puppies I ordered. That was a small portion and they were delicious. Seafood wasn't over cooked and the drinks were on point. They usually have a band n the evening and it gets pretty loud but an actual live band is a plus to me (not one guy playing a guitar and singing. I hate that). The servers ordering tablets restrict any possibility of an accidental lunch order until the appropriate time. Indeed, Stranger than fiction. I wasn't even allowed to order lunch prior to stated lunch time. IF I was able to order lunch during breakfast time I'd at least have my lunch less than 30 minutes after lunch time started. It gets more interesting, your welcome to order alcohol during breakfast hours. I see the owners priorities are in order. Choose wisely. read more

I get it, these places probably run on a shoestring budget -- and I can't fathom how insane rent on the marsh walk must be -- but that did put a damper on things, considering we had to catch our flight home soon. I can't fault the staff for friendliness, though, and memorizing our orders with perfect accuracy. My girlfriend and I got the crab cake Benedict and fried oyster Benedict, and I can't decide whose meal was better. Those dawgs in the kitchen are at the top of their game, let me tell you! The home fries were excellent. I finally tried grits, and they were bland, but when I mixed in the remains of my meal that were stuck to the plate (and some hot sauce), the grits sprang to life. (The southerners at our table said that's normal for plain grits -- no fault of the restaurant.) The Dead Dog Saloon is worth a trip for anyone looking to liven up a visit to Myrtle Beach. read more
