My wife and I went to the Dead Dog Saloon on a Thursday in July. We arrived shortly after 4:00 and were given the option to sit outside on the deck or inside. We opted for the covered deck. It was comfortable sitting outside. We had a very attentive waiter. My wife and I both ordered specialty cocktails which were both tasty. Hush puppies were excellent. My wife had the fish tacos and rice, she enjoyed her meal. I had the two meat BBQ platter (brisket and pulled chicken). Brisket was outstanding and the chicken was a little dry. You are able to get two sides and I opted for onion rings and tater tots. It was honestly too much food! I wish I would have gotten more sauces (they give you individual cups of sauces). It was truly an outstanding meal. I'd highly recommend the Dead Dog. Friendly staff, good food, and great setting. I would certainly return. read more

I enjoyed the bar overlooking the marsh inlet. I ordered a Bloody Mary to start. The mix was very good. Served with olives. But, I was very disappointed in the size of the cocktail. The Bloody Mary was served in a small plastic cup full of ice. The smallest Bloody Mary ever! It was gone in just a few sips. I ordered the fresh steam clams, corn and slaw for my lunch. The steamed clams were fresh and tasted delicious! I immediately ordered a second dozen ( clams only). However, the corn on cob that accompanied the steam clams was so mushy and soggy. After one bite...I was done. My husband enjoyed the slaw and potatoes salad. Looking at the lunch entrees of others. Their plates looked appetizing and plentiful. I will definitely return when in the area for several orders of steam clams and a beer or three! We enjoyed browsing the restaurant walls that were adorned with thousands beloved dog photos. The Dead Dog was rocking when we walked in at 6! We put our name in and grabbed a drink and waited outside. We received the text that our seat was ready. When we reached the desk the hostess told us that we missed the 7 minute 'grace period' and our name was placed back on the list. The poor girl was clearly overwhelmed because she was cranky! The strip of restaurants in Murrells Inlet is so adorable! I love the entire ambiance. We did have a frustrating time trying to find parking on a Friday evening, but once that was resolved, it was all uphill from there. I had the brisket plate, while my husband had the trio. The crab cake in the trio was AMAZING. The brisket was excellent, too, but the Mac and cheese was mushy and not so great. My 3 year old did eat the entire plate of Mac, though, for me. The tater tots were perfectly crispy, as well. I was also pleasantly surprised that they gave a free basket of hush puppies, which was unexpected and a welcome surprise. Our breakfast bowl meal came without the protein. We were offered a remedy but considering we were almost finished, we were not interested. I had a $15 Bloody Mary with well vodka that came in a plastic cup with 3/4 filled with ice.Grossly overpriced! What upset us most was that both of us who had 2 different meals ended up with stomach sickness! My wife had stomach problems that lasted until next morning. We are locals and will never patronize this business again! We are not the people who are comfortable complaining. We want local businesses to succeed! Went last night there St. Patrick's Day and have gone many times before. Always spot on with the music. Haven't had food there yet but will do that later. I have been in the service industry for 20+ years and just a little note especially on this night. Make sure you have the espresso tequila on hand with a little Bailey's on top. It's called a baby Guinness shot. Even have table tents advertising your specialty shots so people will get into the holiday. You will see how much real money that your bartenders make. It's a great shot. The bartender didn't even know what a baby Guinness was.???? And I'm sure that the bartenders will agree with me on this at night time. Take the chairs away from the outside bar and put them up against the wall. With all the windows, people can sit there and talk and listen. This way people can go up to the bar and get drinks and not have to squeeze through two people that are sitting there, parked at the bar and holding a bartenders back plus the floor won't get so congested where people can't even walk through. you would be surprised how much work will get done, faster, and drinks out faster. if they want to keep standing there, it's easy for them to move out of the way instead of going across chairs to get drinks for the patrons. Try it you would be surprised. Have your security wear shirts that say security back and front, big letters!so they will be seen out of the crowd This way god forbid if anyone needs help or if something was to happen it would be easy to spot. Safety is always first. But it's a great place for gathering and listening to live music. Just wanted to give you alittle what I have experienced and hope to see your place thrive at its highest. After enjoying a stroll on the boardwalk, we stopped by Dead Dog Saloon! They had a large bar area with a great view! We loved the complementary mini hushpuppies with honey, sweet butter! The food here was really good. Arrived here and was greeted by the friendly staff. We were seated right away and chose to sit outside on the covered deck. Our waitress was wonderful and was prompt with our order and food delivery. The pulled chicken was 4/5. The pulled pork was 5/5 and the ribs were fall off the bone and slightly on the dry side, but the taste made up for that. I don't like to dip my ribs in extra sauce although that would have helped. Overall this was a wonderful place and would definitely recommend. Many fine options on the menu and they have a kids menu too. This will be on our list to come back to if we visit again. The view and atmosphere is really great right on the marsh walk. They had live music in on the porch at 7 PM. Happy hour was good. They make it really easy and just give you a dollar off house, wines and liquors and beer. However, the food was just average. my onion soup while tasty, was only broth bread and cheese with literally two slices of onion in the whole bowl. The Cuban was smothered and overpowered with mustard and their crab dip was somewhat dry and tasteless. I would not order the crab dip or recommend it. The service was Friendly & attentive. So, would I recommend the dead dog ? Probably, but I wouldn't recommend food there read more

This is by far my favorite resturant to visit when I come to South Carolina. The atmosphere is just a casual place that honors family members of all who wish to partake in their wall of man's best friends. The servers are always kind and attentive, though when the place is packed expect chaos. Food is always good, sand they always have great cocktails. I personally always get the Gator Piss (don't be turned off by the name!). What's really great is the live music they always have on a stage. Never disappoints! I went to the Dead Dog on 6/24/25. I live this place , as does my family. We always go when we hit Myrtle Beach. This visit was different. Our waitress was generally non-interested in taking care of us. My parents, husband and I were sat at a small table. We ordered an appetizer, crab dip, so good. However, before we had hardly had a bite, our food was brought to the table. We did not have enough room at our table for the appetizer and our food. Our waitress hardly checked on us. Then, my father went to pay the check. They use the little hand held credit card devices. He is older and isn't super tech savvy. The waitress rolled her eyes at having to help him, then hovered over his shoulder to see if she would get a tip. She did not deserve one, but he gave her one. We put our names on the list and had to wait about an hour for our table. Once we were seated on the spacious deck, we confirmed that the vibe lived up to our expectations, but not much else did. My margarita was extremely strong and full of what appeared to be artificial mix. My Pulled BBQ Chicken was oddly served with the sauce on the side, exposing the dry, bland, dark meat chicken being utilized. The barbecue dish came with 2 side dishes, and I opted for the Roasted Vegetables and Cilantro Lime Rice. The veggie plate included zucchini, red pepper, and yellow squash, and was actually tasty. The rice, on the other hand, was pretty dry and bland. I would say that the Dead Dog Saloon would be more of a spot to hang out and have fun than it would be to dine. read more

Recently, me and my father went on a vacation and this was the first spot we ate at. Although quite pricey, the food was incredible and certainly worth the cost. The restaurant was fairly packed, but we were quickly given the choice to sit inside, outside, or under the covered patio, which we chose outside. Our waitress was absolutely incredible, constantly checking up on us. Also, the view from our table was great, and the live band playing made the environment that much better. I like love entertainment, but we could barely hear each other talk and we were as far away as possible and still be in the same establishment. I cannot image if we sat closer, might have been a different experience. The smoke house items were all terrific, especially the brisket. Very good and a very nice sized portion.
