A nice spot in Savannah for good breakfast. It's a beautiful restaurant in the basement of a hotel. Very charming inside and a little play area for children. Breakfast is simple but delicious. I loved the hashbrown breakfast. A good spot for an affordable less crowded breakfast! They also will hold your bags for a fee using bounce which was really convenient

Arrived and it is down stairs and very, Savanna. The Marriott concierge recommended it and decided to try it. Best Savannah decision we made! The staff seamed so happy we asked why? With big smile thy said we are family. We meet three generations. This is one of the few travel places worth coming ack to on every visit. When in Savannah try it you will love it!

I would call this a comfort food restaurant. Service had one waitress but she was amazing doing her best. There were quite a few take out orders so you know the locals come here for quality eats. Lots of specials each day. Big space downstairs in a historic building. Enjoy.

I dined at Debi's Restaurant last month on the recommendation of some friends after visiting the expo for the Every Woman's Marathon. The restaurant is located on Bay Street, in the basement of the building. We were seated quickly without a wait, but the place filled up fast. Our server was clearly overwhelmed, rushing around and visibly sweating, even though it was a mild November day. I ordered the salmon cakes, which were served on a bed of cheese grits and topped with remoulade sauce. The dish was mediocre at best - filling, but the salmon cakes were a bit dry and could have been more flavorful. The restaurant itself was uncomfortably cold, but oddly enough the bathrooms were warm and cozy - LOL! Overall, I probably wouldn't return to Debi's if I'm back in Savannah. It was an okay experience that served its purpose, but it didn't leave me very impressed.

    Beautiful art, Savannah inspired.

Debi's is a nice, cozy restaurant, serving delicious home style food. They have a great menu with classics, they also have a chef's special menu posted by the day. They have a bar upstairs, when you first walk in. You're welcomed to order your cocktail and sit at the bar, or take it with you to your seat. We dined for lunch on a quiet Monday. We were immediately seated, greeted my kind staff and served delicious food. I enjoyed my salmon cakes and fried green tomatoes. They were cooked perfectly and seasoned wonderfully.

A solid little restaurant in the basement of the building. We came here when there was a 45 min wait at another place and got right in. The waitress was really nice and they were very efficient with with the drinks and the food did not take long to come out. I had the lobster grilled cheese. It was good, but could of used a cup of tomato soup to go with it.

Excellent breakfast. We hit this place at just the right time on a late Sunday morning when we didn't have to wait for a table. By the time we left the line was up the stairs and out the door. It is a lovely dining room on the underground floor of an old building. I had the hash brown breakfast with mixed vegetables and sunny side up eggs. Kim had the Eggs Benedict. Mine was very flavorful and the eggs were done perfectly. The Eggs Benedict was just ok. The poached eggs were good, but the English muffin was barley toasted if at all.

The restaurant is such a pretty place. We went down the stairs and found ourselves with brick walls and floors and very quaint decor. The stuff was super sweet and helpful and that always makes for a great experience. Overall, the food was good. My husband ordered the prime rib but unfortunately was not a fan and our salmon cakes tasted more like tuna but even so, I would not mind ordering those again. Parking is somewhat hard up front due to the business of the street but there is a parking deck about 2 blocks back which is huge. Cute little spot I would not find visiting again.

    First time at Debi's.

Before our trip, one of my fraternity brothers told me that if I wanted some of the best Southern soul food in Savannah, I had to visit Mrs. Wilkes. He also warned me that there would be a long wait. Let me just say--he was absolutely right on both counts! We arrived at the restaurant and stood in line outside in the rain. We didn't get seated until 1:00 PM. Normally, I would not wait that long for a meal, but for the record, and I can't believe I'm saying this--it was worth every minute of the wait. The experience was unlike any restaurant I've ever visited. My wife and I were seated at a large table with approximately eight other people whom we had never met. Yet within minutes, it felt like we were dining with family. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and filled with genuine Southern hospitality. The food was simply outstanding. Every traditional Southern dish you can imagine was brought to the table and passed family-style from person to person. The home-cooked flavors reminded me of the meals many of us grew up enjoying. Everything was delicious, and the desserts were just as impressive. What made the experience even more special was the sense of community. People of different backgrounds and races were dining together, sharing food, conversation, and fellowship. The staff worked together seamlessly and went out of their way to make every guest feel welcome. While we waited in line, a gracious lady shared the history of the restaurant and the legacy of Mrs. Wilkes herself. The staff even provided umbrellas to guests who didn't have one--including me--which was a thoughtful gesture that spoke volumes about their commitment to customer service. From the food, to the hospitality, to the rich history and unique family-style dining experience, Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room exceeded every expectation. If you're visiting Savannah, this is not just a meal--it's an experience. I proudly give Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room a 5 out of 5-star rating and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Savannah.

Unfortunately, the only things we actually enjoyed were the fried chicken and the potato wedges. Once again, it was an epic fail. The cabbage tasted like it had been boiled in plain water with absolutely no seasoning. Both the red rice and the New Orleans rice reminded us of Minute Rice or Uncle Ben's microwavable rice--bland, lacking flavor, and nothing like the rich, seasoned rice dishes we were expecting. The fried chicken was crispy, juicy, and well-seasoned, and the potato wedges were cooked perfectly, but those two items weren't enough to save the meal. We came hoping for authentic Southern comfort food, but left disappointed. Sadly, this is one restaurant we won't be adding to our list of places to revisit.

With regard to food, I think they have a decent (not expansive) selection of food, which I think lends itself to quality. They do most things really well. This said, I do think there is inconsistency based on staff at the restaurant. On one occasion they have accommodated a request, and on another I was denied the exact same request. I found this frustrating. On one occasion I've also seen management talk down to staff here, which is a big no no for me. All people (especially staff) are due respect and this rubbed me the wrong way. This was an isolated incident but it definitely made my dining experience uncomfortable. Especially because I was getting excellent service from the server!!! I've always had quality service from servers here. In the future, I would come to Rhett for convenience as a hotel guest (the hotel is lovely), but would likely not spend my money if I wasn't staying at the hotel. Overall- it's good food, decent ambiance... but there are soooo many good options in Savannah. You have to be exceptional to stand out in that city.

The refund came through exactly as he said it would. To be clear, the food on my visit genuinely missed, and I'm not pretending otherwise. Credit where it's due on the space, too -- the ambiance is genuinely great. Warm, candle-lit dining room, an open kitchen, a well-stocked bar, and a covered patio that had a real buzz to it. It's a spot that looks and feels like somewhere you want to be, which is exactly why I'd give the kitchen another shot based on how the owner runs this place. --- Original review (2 stars): Disappointing birthday dinner. Came in for my birthday and left underwhelmed. Our server Troy was the one bright spot -- professional and attentive all night. Caesar salad: Several bitter pieces of lettuce, and no black pepper offered or available. Faroe Island salmon: Overly buttery like it had been sitting under a heat lamp. The shishito cream sauce was way too acidic -- tasted like uncooked wine or vinegar. Crispy rice cakes were bland and a strange pairing (rice blocks with salmon?). The baby bok choy was decent until the sauce drowned it out. Braised beef short rib: Tender but flavorless. The mashed potatoes tasted old, not fresh that evening. To top it off, my wife had arranged ahead of time for the birthday dessert to be brought out -- the message never reached Troy, so that moment never happened. Troy deserved better than what the kitchen sent out.
