Nice place for breakfast. Simple classic choices. I had the cheese omelette and enjoyed it. The staff was super friendly and very attentive.

We chose this restaurant for breakfast because it is in our hotel (in the basement). And while the service was excellent and everyone was very friendly, the food itself was just sort of "meh." There was only one other table of diners when we were there, yet our food arrived lukewarm. And nothing had much flavor. Portions seemed overlarge, as if quantity would make up for the quality. I wish I could be more positive, given how pleasant everyone was. But the fact is that I've had similar-quality meals from "free" hotel buffets. read more

The place is beautiful and super cozy in the basement level. Unfortunately that is the only good thing I can say about Debi's. The coffee is passable if you have it with cream and sugar like my husband, but I drink mine black, so I could definitely tell I was drinking an ashy, bitter drink. I asked for hash browns with my breakfast and was served cut potatoes that were definitely from a frozen package. When I asked the server about it she said "these are our hash browns" and didn't talk to anyone at our table or checked on us after that. It was only after a long while that she left the bill on our table without a word. My son's fried fish was undercooked and the fries were mushy, but teenagers will eat anything, so he didn't complain. We came here because of the 4.5 star reviews but ended up very disappointed. We went to Debi's because someone recommended it. At first I was disappointed to be going downstairs to eat, but it ended up being great. When you get downstairs its clear that Debi's has a lot of regulars and repeats. When we walked to Debi's we passed a line of restaurants that were empty. One had a mascot out front dressed like a pig waving a flag. There's a lot to avoid in the area. Debi's was an oasis of family run goodness. The southern food was great! We loved our food, our waitress and the relaxed, diner like nature of the restaurant. I wish there were more places like this in the middle of tourist trap places. read more

What a great find! Serving breakfast all day and it's good food is so hard to find. My hubs and I both ordered the western omelette with grits. The grits were made well, not too soggy or too dry. My husband and I gave Debi's a try for breakfast and weren't disappointed. I had two eggs, hashbrowns and bacon, with wheat toast. My husband went with the cheese omelet, hashbrowns and bacon. He also got an order of the biscuit with sausage gravy. My husband enjoyed his omelet, and we both enjoyed the hashbrowns which resembled home fries or fried cubed potatoes instead of the shredded potatoes. The potatoes were nicely fried to a nice golden brown but weren't greasy at all. My husband didn't complain about his sausage gravy but was a little underwhelmed. This place was a definite disappointment. I ordered their pepper steak and it was unseasoned, the broccoli cheese casserole tasted sour, and the greens were also unseasoned. The pepper steak also had a strange texture. I ended up sending it back and getting a cheeseburger as a replacement. The burger seemed to be some type of fake meat, but it was still red in the center. The texture was off as well. By that point, I'd lost my appetite. Others in our party expressed disappointment in the fried chicken. Overall, dry and flavorless. The waitstaff were friendly and hospitable, but this place was a no for me. read more

We had the cutest, quaintest time at Debi's with the staff (and the entity)! It's located discreetly in Downtown Savannah. It's truly a charming establishment with lots of character. It is kept clean, tidy, and the service providers have lots of charm! The menu is just like that of your mother/grandmother's and the food tastes like it, too! I had the Chicken & Waffles and I had no idea that I would be met with Maple Glazed Peaches atop it all. What a pleasant surprise?! The waffle was so fluffy and the chicken seasoned well, in addition to, the glazed peaches! Did I mention that the mimosas are bottomless and only $10?! You can only purchase them upstairs but you can bring them downstairs OR wine and dine upstairs near the brightly lit bar area. This is such a delightful dive! read more

Location is great, near the river walk. But the moment you walk in the door and down the dirty stairs to the restaurant there's a weird energy. There aren't any windows and the decor transported me to a different decade. Since my nephew picked the breakfast spot, I decided to go with it. Maybe I was judging too soon. We ordered drinks. My cup was dirty. We order the Two Egg breakfast, Big Bay Breakfast, and French Toast with Bacon. When the food arrived, I started opening silverware. All of it was dirty. One set had dried greens on the silverware. I opened 3 sets and it was all dirty. I requested plastic ware. As for taste: The French Toast and Bacon was edible but bland. The order breakfast plates were super bland, no salt to be found. I poured and poured with no avail. The buttered toast was good though. Lastly, I realized I was overcharged. I thought the price was off... but couldn't wait to get out of there. They brought the receipt for payment written on a ticket. So, I couldn't see the price. Based on the online menu, I was overcharged by about $8-10. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. read more

Debi's is a quaint little breakfast spot with what appears to be extremely friendly Debi's as waitresses. My wife and I just wanted a simple southern breakfast without all the fanfare of a River Street brunch style menu. My wife had the Waffle Stack while I had the Big Bay breakfast. I am a big guy built like a linebacker. Either of those breakfasts would wipe me out. The waffle stack was my favorite (yes, it was hers but I ate it). This place is a must try. Debi's restaurant is a very quaint and humble restaurant that serves southern comfort food. It's interior is very charming and has a very homey old timey feel. It really captures the essence of Savannah! I went with my boyfriend to this restaurant and we ordered the crab stack and the salmon cakes with grits. My boyfriend liked his crab stacks. He doesn't prefer the tomato because it made the crab cakes a bit soggy. I also think they were a bit on the salty side. He thought the potatoes were super well done. Overall, he liked his meal. My salmon cakes were served on a bed of cheese grits. The cheese grits were very creamy and the sauce that was drizzled on top gave it a bit of zest. The salmon cakes could have been a bit crispier and it could have been a little less salty. I also thought the cakes were slightly fishy but it was still very flavorful. The saltiness of the salmon cakes were balanced out by the subtleness of the grits. Overall, the environment and the food together left a fairly good impression on me. I would probably come back to try other food items that looked delicious and recommend others to try it as well! read more

I ran across Debi's while taking a late night stroll through downtown Savannah on my vacation. I noticed the beautiful architecture of the building first and made a mental note that I'd be stopping in for breakfast the next morning. My partner and I popped in and noticed quickly that the front entrance leads down a flight of stairs. There is a please wait to be seated sign as you reach the bottom of the staircase. We waited maybe 10 minutes as the noticeable overworked/understaffed team worked double time to clear tables, greet guests, etc. We were seated and greeted by a lovely older woman who made us feel warm and welcome immediately. My partner and I decided on the New Orlean's crab stack and the big bay breakfast, which to our delight was only $14 each! When the food came- it was hot, fresh, and plentiful. Easily one of the best breakfast meals I've ever had. The crab stack, which was served with fried green tomatoes was a delicious surprise. The ingredients married together in a flavorful harmony that exploded in our mouths. My partner has traveled far and wide and remarked on the quality and great flavor of everything we ate. This was a lovely restaurant with great staff, great food, and the greatest of all being the ambience! 10/10 would recommend read more

We only had breakfast each time, but it's a nice change from the wannabes down the street. Eggs are cooked correctly, biscuits are real, ham, sausage-- all real down-home country cooking served by kind and efficient people with big smiles. Excellent fried green tomatoes! Excellent, hearty coffee! Critiques: make your own hash browns, those heat and serve abominations are beneath you. Our hotel, Olde Harbour Inn, wasn't serving breakfast due to the new COVID restrictions. In our digital check-in packet it suggested we visit their sister property's restaurant, Debi's, for a 10% discount. We decided to give it a try since it was close and highly recommended. The entrance is on East Bay Street. When we arrived we noticed they were all decorated for Christmas and everything looked festive and fun. From the entrance there are stairs going down to the main dining area. The upstairs appeared to be a bar area but was closed at the time. I love getting up before the rest of the world and finding a good place for breakfast because the restaurants aren't usually busy yet. I appreciate all those late sleepers. After looking at the menu I was torn between the Southern Grits bowl and the Hashbrown Platter. I asked our very friendly server about both. The eggs for the grits bowl are in the grits and not on the side. I don't like eggs in my grits so I ordered the Hashbrown Platter which had onions, peppers, cheese and bacon and served with two eggs on the side and toast. It was very good. Of course I've never met a potato I didn't like. I felt like it was a great choice for breakfast. Service was great and staff was friendly. My family had a delightful brunch at Debi's yesterday. The inside of the restaurant that was setup for breakfast feel welcoming, crisp and clean, and the folks were welcoming and friendly. The menu has just enough options to choose from. We tried their Western Omelette, Big Bay Breakfast, Hash brown Platter and Egg Sandwich with sausage and cheese. The foods came timely and they tasted good, no one has any complain. I also want to mention that the coffee was good here, I normally just have black coffee and this was was just right. Found this place thru reviews, quite little downstairs restaurant. The wood beams give a cool look. We came for lunch and asked what they recommend for a sandwich and the waitress said the Patty Melt. Came with crinkle cut fries. The burger patty was large and could have had more grilled onions but it was still tasty. It was more than I could eat. Sweet tea was how I like it nice and sweet. read more

There was quite a long wait to be seated. It also took an hour for us to receive our food after we ordered it. The pancakes were not cooked all the way and were disgusting. The scrambled eggs were more of a fried egg than a scrambled egg. The fried green tomatoes were pretty good and so was the grits. The pancakes and waffles are large enough to split between two people and the sweet tea is just sweet enough. I wouldn't return to this restaurant if I had a choice the next time. The eggs weren't bad just not scrambled and the bacon was cooked perfectly. The extreme time it took to receive our food is persuasive enough to deter me from returning. read more

This place was meh. The entrance is awkward ad you just walk down a large set of steps and it's wide open. I was immediately sat and my order was taken. The sausage gravy and biscuits was luke warm, the biscuits were unremarkable and the gravy had a stingy amount of sausage with no crumbles on top as per advertised. I passed through Savannah over the weekend and when looking for breakfast, I stumbled upon Debi's. I guess it was the inspiration for the diner in a scene of the movie Forest Gump. Debi's is your typical old-fashioned breakfast spot. Nothing too fancy or special, just big plates of decent food. I had eggs and hash browns and my wife had eggs benedict. Everything was good. I had my order to go so this review is strictly based on the food. I was very disappointed with my meal. I ordered a veggie omelette without mushrooms, with hash browns and wheat toast. The omelette didn't seem to have any salt or pepper and the cheese tasted like it was the processed Kraft singles cheese. Also the hash browns were not hash browns. They were mini French fries. The best part of the breakfast was the wheat toast...and they gave me two slices instead of one. I know others really enjoy this place but I wouldn't go back. read more

Elizabeth greeted us warmly & took our order in a timely manner. I knew we were going to have a good experience at Debi's thanks to her. The menu is not overwhelming large, but there are lots of good choices. We had eggs, pancake, sausage & toast. There was one type of bread -white. That's pretty unusual where we come from. It took us back to our childhoods. The eggs were done to order. The sausage was yummy. The pancakes looked homemade & were good! The one thing I really didn't like was the silverware. (Cheap silverware is a pet peeve of mine.) If you like a down to earth, straight forward breakfast that tastes good & isn't expensive, go to Debi's! read more
