Service slow - forgot drink orders, ran out of "specials" only to be we notified 45 minutes later and table arrangements had our two guests of honor sitting under chandelier. Excellent service, delicious food, nice atmosphere, pricey but worth it. Two of the best meals I have ever had. My girlfriend and I went twice for dinner at Delaney's. The first time we went in blind, not knowing what this restaurant had to offer. We made reservations early that morning--something I highly recommend doing as it fills up--and were seated shortly after our arrival. Prior to seating, we enjoyed cocktails at the small waiting bar they have in their "bistro" area. I ordered a rye Manhattan and the bartender did a great job with it. The atmosphere was nice and quiet without being stuffy. Mark, our server, came over promptly and welcomed us warmly. Throughout the night he continued to be attentive, courteous, quite helpful, and thoroughly professional. His attention to detail would be welcomed at any fine establishment, but it shined here especially (typically, service is hit or miss in the Brunswick-St. Simons area). The menu was impressive, but the specials were outstanding. Antelope chops, ostrich steak, center cut ribeye, and a few others I can't remember. I ordered the antelope and it was fantastic. The gf got the mixed grill (two lamb chops, a small veal steak, and a petit filet) and loved it. It was the best lamb we had ever eaten (sorry JMac's). We also ordered a bottle of Turley Old Vine Zinfandel, a wine that I have not seen on many wine lists, and it was presented and poured just as it was supposed to be. Dessert was an almond and pear tort. A tad dry but very enjoyable nonetheless. Second trip was just as enjoyable as the first. Appetizer was foie gra: delicious. Entrees were ostrich steak and rack of lamb. Everything was perfectly prepared. We ordered a bottle of Bertani 2001 Amarone. Perfect. Delaney's is the perfect place for business meals, anniversaries, and similar nice occasions. I cannot recommend this place enough. Did I mention they have vintage Macallan single malt? read more

Delaney's Bistro is the best restaurant on the island... by far. Wonderful menu that includes beef, pork, buffalo, seafood, game, and exotic dishes and special dishes that change daily. Incredible food, great soothing atmosphere, impeccable service, fantastic wine selection, amazing appetizers and deserts. Try the escargot, Maine lobster, bone-in filet, and the Banana Foster's cheesecake - slap your momma good! Delaney's is very popular and small, so reservations are a necessity and should be made well in advance, especially for holidays. read more

A most unfortunate New Year's Eve experience. We arrived to discover the menu was pre fixe only at $90 per person (some in our group are light eaters), which had not been disclosed in two telephone conversations with staff regarding reservations. As the entrees were served, Mark, our affable waiter, inquired if all was well to which we replied yes. Once my wife began eating her filet, she discovered it was like eating a chunk of vulcanized rubber; rather than risking a Heimlich event, she elected to regurgitate the offending morsel. When Mark re-appeared, my wife politely informed him that the filet was extremely tough and suggested he inform the chef. Mark sat down on the seat next to my wife and informed her that she previously indicated that "all was fine" as if to suggest she was estoppel from protesting, and, furthermore, suggested she chew the meat more thoroughly. My wife, a former Assistant United States Attorney, suggested Mark reconsider his response, which elicited a scoff from Mark. My wife then took up the matter with the maitre de, in Mark's presence, who offered to not charge for her meal; a gracious and appropriate response. However, when Mark returned with our check, he added by hand a 20% gratuity (approximately $74.00). I returned to the maitre de to protest whereupon the maitre de informed me that "that was the deal". I insisted he remove the gratuity and charge my credit card for only the cost of the meal as we would be the arbiters of Mark's tip. He complied. I will leave the amount of Mark's tip to your speculation. A most unpleasant experience with rude, indignant, inconsiderate, and condescending people. We have been to Delaney's many times in the past, but never more. read more

This restaurant came highly recommended to us and it started out great. Appetizer and salads were good, service was smooth and efficient. Unfortunately, my spouse ordered the Trigger Fish, which was one of the daily specials, and it came out only half cooked and was literally pink in the middle. (My entree was fine.) Someone noticed the unfinished fish and after inquiring why it was uneaten, he took it away and did not charge us for it. However, things went downhill from there. Our server returned to describe the desserts, and we both ordered dessert and coffee. The coffee came right out, and someone even gave us clean utensils. However, the desserts never appeared! (Isn't that the easiest course to have ready?) After 10 minutes, we inquired as to what happened, and our waiter said they were "being plated" and would be right out. Five more minutes elapsed (we had long ago finished our coffee) and at this point we asked for the check--which was brought with neither an apology or an explanation. It was as if our waiter totally abandoned us after we ordered the desserts and couldn't care less that we never got them. Needless to say, this ruined a pleasant night out even more than the undercooked fish!! read more

First of all, I notice that yelp is filtering out the not-so-good reviews of Delaneys. I'm surprised because the lousy reviews are similar to the experience I had. I've eaten lunch at Delaneys several times, but when it came to our recent dinner experience...it left something to be desired. The worst of it: we were told that there were no tables available in the dining room until 8 pm, but we were seated right in front of the host's station in the pub area and overheard another group state that they did not have a reservation-but they were seated in the dining area. We placed our order for 3 entrees and it wasn't until 2 of them were brought to our table that the host informed us that they were out of the 3rd entree. Abysmal service. Had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated even though there were several empty tables. Dinner took over two hours. Service was terrible. Our waiter spent the night entertaining a table of his favorite customers. Asked for more bread. It took 20 minutes. Ordered a glass of wine with my entre - it showed up as I finished. My companion ordered his entre medium - it came out raw and nearly inedible but the waiter never came back to check on us. Dirty dishes sat on nearby tables all night while everyone seemed to fawn over the one table. The food was pretty good but save yourself the trouble and go to halyards or tramici where they treat everyone great - not just their friends and family. read more

Odd place in that their menu is small but they have probably 10 special appetizers and 10 special entrees. You spend the evening hearing waiters recite the specials around you. I'd bet they're the same specials most nights. They had ostrich, Columbia River salmon and only 1 local seafood. I got that. Was supposed to be flounder. It was the thickest flounder I've ever had. Tasted more like Mahi and was not good. Someone in my group got the mixed grill and that was the way to go. read more

Service was very slow due to waiters having to recite 10 specials and 10 appetizers to every table that placed an order. My husbands $50 steak was very difficult to chew. My fresh caught snapper was bland. When my husband told the waiter about the steak he seemed to be offended. read more

We've dined here several times and understand the staff pays more attention to the regulars. That's OK because service is generally good. But my wife and I were very disappointed in our experience last night. My fish was overcooked and the bottle of white wine we ordered was served unchilled. My wife's meal was also only ordinary. The meals are too expensive to mediocre. I hope the kitchen was having an off night, but there are too many other good choices on the island to overpay for so-so food. I went with my parents to Delaney's last night on our first night in st. simons. We had late reservations so I was very tired but the meal was still excellent. I got there and ordered an ameretto sour to drink. The bartender was nice and the drink was excellent. We sat at our table and the waiter came by. He was very knowledgeable. They had a ton of specials but We all ordered something off the menu. I ordered the crab cakes as an appetizer and the Shrimp provencal(the shrimp were huge and like 7 in the pasta) for entree. Mom ordered the eggplant for appetizer and the ny strip for entree. Dad had the baked goat cheese and Filet Diane. Everything was yummy. Dad said he could have eaten a full plate of the goat cheese for his meal(it comes with 2 medallions). The entrees also come with a mixed green salad. For dessert dad and I shared the raspberry white chocolate cheesecake. Mom had the peach and blueberry crisp. She said the chefs pies are much better than the crisps. read more

Don't be fooled by the pub-sounding name; Delaney's is an upscale restaurant with a comprehensive wine list, white table clothes and wait staff who are well versed in their menu. We had ostrich and lamb chops, both of which were prepared wonderfully. And as a pleasant surprise, we tried the chocolate carrot cake, which had the texture of carrot cake, the classic cream cheese icing, and a very rich chocolaty flavor. Some things to note: They have wines by the glass although it's not listed on the wine menu. Also, the restaurant is tucked away in a small strip of shops and is not visible from the street. The sign for the shops does not display Delaney's name very prominently, so keep your eyes open. read more

We eat here on occasion (we don't consider ourselves regulars) and have had nothing but excellent service. My wife and I enjoy the atmosphere and the staff is very knowledgeable on the menu, food preparation, and wine recommendations --- well trained. Great cuisine. A little pricy, but worth it! Delaney's is the best restaurant on the Island tied only with its next door neighbor Café Fredericka. We have NEVER had a bad meal at either place. I cannot imagine them ever getting a bad review but if someone did not like it I say Yes! because that is one less person I have to compete with for a table. If you are looking for the absolute best food, service and wine on the island, then Delaneys should be your selection for dinner. As a testament to their food and service, you must make reservations well in advance because they are always booked. Elegant quiet atmosphere, professional waitstaff who provide sterling service. There are many nightly specials because Delaneys prides themselves on serving the freshest food available. We ordered the fresh jumbo lump crab app which was amazingly good. My beet salad was outstanding. My husband said his bone in filet was one of the best steaks he has ever eaten. My pan seared grouper tasted as though it was caught that morning and the butternut squash purée and grilled asparagus accompaniment was superb. All entrees are served with wonderful vegetable accompaniments ,a Greek style salad and wonderful hot rolls. A lot of food for the money so we felt we received very good value since all is included without charging everything as ala carte. We finished our meal with a fabulous bananas foster cheesecake ...chocolate crust , a dense banana flavored cheesecake dotted with chocolate chips and drizzled with a warm chocolate ganache. We swooned over every bite. Our service was impeccable. We return to Delaneys every time we visit the island and have never once been disappointed. Dressy casual is how most patrons arrive dressed but a few people had on nice jeans. My husband and I enjoy old world fine dining while on vacation and appreciate restaurants that continue to provide it in this "sweat pants/ shirttail out/ flip flop/ baseball cap on while eating" world we now live in. read more

this restaurant came highly recommended to me, and our dinner there started out auspiciously enough--smooth service, delicious appetizers and salads. However, my husband was served half-cooked fish! Before we could send it back, someone (maybe the chef?) stopped by our table and when my husband commented on the raw fish, it was removed without comment or apology--or an offer to order something else. Our waiter recommended several desserts, so we figured at least we could end the meal on a pleasant note. We waited over 10 minutes and there was no sign of our desserts--or our waiter. Finally he stopped by to tell us the desserts were being plated. Five more minutes elapsed and still no desserts! we just asked for the check which was brought without an apology. we were not charged for the fish, but after our disappearing desserts (and waiter), that really was secondary. Worse yet, a letter to the owner (he had no published email address) went unsanswered. Never again! read more
