I wanted to thank you for the same day request. My daughters first birthday was today and I was frantic in finding a cake that looked special. Not only did they have a cake available and freshly made, they designed it to the champagne style when it was supposed to be preset for a different design. And the price was extremely reasonable -- I was quoted way more for another design at another bakery--and their design didn't look as good as theirs. They also texted me pictures of other items in their store when I asked for pastries/desserts for the party. The cake was delicious, light and not too sweet, it looked like a million bucks. I don't understand why there is no constant queue outside this pastry shop - their almond croissant is the absolute best I've ever tasted in SoCal ! The two croissants weighed a ton in the box and that goes to show the amount of filling in the croissant means business ! The croissants didn't look anything special - like any ordinary croissant but once bite into it the ever crumbly flakiness of the pastry and the not too sweet but perfectly balanced almond filling made this croissant exceptional. YIKES!! It's been a long while since I posted a review, but this place inspired me (not in a good way) to write one. Firstly, I was highly anticipating this new-ish bakery in Old Town Pasadena. After reading the other reviews, seeing some social media buzz on it, sure seemed like a no-brainer for a place I would love. The problems? There are many. First, we got here in the morning, not too long after they opened, there was really no one in here (maybe one other couple at a table), and looking at their offering, it was as if we came an hour before closing. There was really ZERO selection, and they still had most of the day to go before closing. All they had was the plain butter croissants, a few chocolate and almond croissants, the lemon croissant, a couple cookies and the croissants that look dipped in some flavoring. No palmier, no quionn-amann (sic), basically none of the eye-popping pastries that people have photographed in other reviews. The item I really wanted was apparently "sold out"...ok, if that's the case, why are you not making more? This place is huge, the rent has to be outrageous. I had a friend who had a storefront in this area that was like 1/6 size and his rent was astronomical, so I would assume this place can't be leaving money on the table by not having a constant assortment of offerings, and replenishing items as they get sold. Surely you must know that if "Item A" sells out quickly, maybe plan to make more if you still have 6 hours left in your day. So we got a couple butter croissants, the lemon thing, and a cookie. I will admit the croissants LOOKED really good, and reading the other reviews, I was expecting a proper croissant as you would find in any good patisserie in Paris or Tokyo (where the best croissants in the world are made, by far). We started with the croissant, and WOW was it disappointingly bad. It didnt have the crunch exterior that leaves a huge f'ing mess as you take bites. The croissant was typically "moist" the way generic mass produced ones from Ralphs taste. I'm not trying to be a dick when I say this croissant tasted like it came from Costco and if I took the Pepsi challenge, there is no way I could tell the difference. The cookie was ok, but again for the price, nothing special. The lemon pastry/croissant was also meh, again, tasting like it came from the Vons bakery, except at bougie prices. Every pastry here is about $5-6, the cake slices much higher, and even those, there were very few options when we were here in the morning. But this bakery is emblematic of so many new food businesses. They set the bar really low, and people rave about it, which makes me wonder, do these people never get out to actually eat good food? I don't understand their frame of reference when they rave about low-bar generic pastries like we got at Delight. Sure, I get that taste is subjective, and one man's gruel is another man's coq-au-vin, but places like Delight piss me off. They charge "artisanal" prices to pay their high rents, which is fine, I dont mind paying top dollar if it's worth it, but this is like buying a Ralphs croissant that has been sitting in that pressboard and acrylic bin all day, and trying to pass it off as some kind of high end artisanal dessert with high end prices. Needless to say Delight was not much of a Delight and the biggest waste of $20 I've spent in a while. read more

The staff is super friendly! It's a very cute little place with plenty of seating. My friend's sister had brought some pastries from here and it was yummy. I heard that the croissants were really good and I had to come and see for myself. I got the regular butter croissant, pistachio matcha croissant, and a lychee raspberry croissant. I also got the strawberry cruffin, fruit tart, and bread pudding. They are all very yummy! I love the bread pudding although I wish it was a bit more moist. The place was so nice and pretty and clean the moment you walk in. They have a bunch of different desserts available, as well as a few savory options. The servers were pretty attentive and kind too. They even had free samples when we went so that was nice! We ordered lemon and lavender blueberry macarons, as well as tiramisu. The taste of the food was...alright. Which is why the rating got low. All the food was just 'meh, it could be worse' which was disappointing as it looked like they made their own. The macaron cookies were stale, for example. BUT!! it could be because we went at night too, so keep that in mind. I personally don't mind going again in the morning when they're fresh but my friend doesn't have high hopes. Same goes for their coffee. I liked the spinach and artichoke pastry enough. I'm not sure if it was just cold (it was a free sample and was out for awhile so this isnt a complaint) or if it wasn't super good though. It's a really pretty place and I saw they have plugs for charging too. Again, I wouldn't mind trying again at an earlier time of the day. The reason for the 2 stars are for two reasons. One is the price, this fruit tart was $7.50. I have never paid so much for a small size fruit tart. It tasted pretty good, but not worth $7.50. The second reason for the low rating was the staff. The staff was a bit odd, did not welcome me, kept staring at me without saying a word which made me feel uncomfortable. It was my first time coming to the bakery so that was not helpful. Would I come again? This is an amazing bakery and fairly new in town having opened in May. We were warmly greeted when we walked in and ended up sitting down for some afternoon treats. chocolate croissant which was flakey, buttery and just amazing until the end where i felt saddened that it was all gone. OMG!! The almond croissant I just got here may be the best one I've ever had. Realy flaky & crunchy, with a creamy almond filling. I haven't had a really good almond croissant for years, since Aux Delices's quality went down the tubes. I try almond croissants every time a new bakery opens. This place is the real deal. Excellent service as well. I also had a rose/raspberry/lychee croissant. Interesting flavor and yummy icing. It was too sweet for me so just not my preference. Same wonderfully crispy pastry. My mom and I came on National Matcha Day without even knowing and we got a matcha pistachio croissant and a rose lychee croissant. Both were phenomenal. I thought I wouldn't like the rose/lychee one because I feared the flavors would be too overpowering but it was subtle, light, and perfect.
