I really wanted to love this place as much as I love the pictures but it just didn't do it for me. While the food presentation was top tier the taste was subpar. I ordered the popcorn shrimp as my appetizer, the shrimp were too salty, like noticeably salty. I and from the DMV so seafood is what we know we have our kids on crabs but this wasn't even edible. It's served over popcorn and the popcorn was stale, I'm not exactly sure why since it comes served in a popcorn machine. For my entree I went with the marinated lamb instead of the gold lamb since I was told the tenderness would be better. While the lamb was tender it it just wasn't that flavorful. I believe the sauce was supposed to provide the flavor but I had used that for the rice to add a little flavor. Overall I do not believe I would ever go back until things have changed. I hate I was so engrossed in my conversation that I didn't get a picture of our food, but trust me when I say the lamb chops were tender and delicious! One of the neatest restaurants I've ever been to! I'd call this a diamond in the rough because the outside doesn't match the luxury and fine dining experience inside. Our drinks had GOLD in them and tasted amazing, then when our appetizers came out they were plated on dishes that were so fun and unique. The food tasted amazing and the service was great. Our dinner plates were even more outstanding and we even tried on the helmet to fit the part. We will definitely be back again soon to try the other amazing dishes and can't wait to see how they are plated and taste. We called on our way in and the manager answered and told us they were full only to call back immediately and tell us he could make space. When we showed up, and during the duration of our dinner, there was only 2 other tables occupied. We were given a different menu than what was posted on the web site and what was sitting on our neighboring tables. Our menu was substantially more expensive. Most plates were 30-40% more on our menu. Not sure why we received a different menu but when we asked the manager, he said we had already ordered and he couldn't do anything about it. Earlier in the day I called to see if I needed to make a reservation for 2 for that Saturday evening. I was told I needed to use the Yelp app to make a reservation b/c they were not seating walk-ins. To my surprise when we walked in, they were about to seat us and didn't even ask if we had a reservation. The atmosphere was nice. We were seated rather quickly. The waitress was friendly and overall helpful when taking our order. I ordered a Caesar salad ($10) and Crab dip ($25). My date ordered lamb kabobs ($41), Brussel sprouts ($10), and a cocktail ($14). We wanted the Brussels sprouts to come out with the salad. The waitress said no problem. Later after the appetizers had been brought to the table with no sprouts, the waitress said "oh we don't usually bring those out until later with the entrees". Which is fine but she shouldn't have told us it wasn't a problem to begin with. The foods presentation was everything and it was all pretty tasty. However, after the waitress brought our lamb kebabs she never returned. she didn't come back to see how the meal was or if the food was prepared properly or if I needed anything else (I needed hot sauce.) after waiting for about 10 minutes I asked another waiter if he could bring some hot sauce. That waiter then told me "yes, but I have to go downstairs to get it." I said OK he said OK..He never went downstairs. He never got the hot sauce. He never told our waitress that we needed something. After waiting for another 10 minutes the food was cold and I needed a to go box. I planned to take my meal home and reheat it, but again the waitress never came back. I had to get up and go get another waiter and ask him to get our waitress. When the waitress returned I was just over it. I asked for some to go containers and the check. I didn't even mention the hot sauce because It was too late at this point I was ready to go. She then brings the to go containers and the bill and to my surprise there's an $18 service charge already attached to the bill. I don't mind tipping, I always tip, I planned to tip even though the service was subpar. But the audacity of this place to include this service charge (that was not stated anywhere on the menu) and the service was not even good. I would not have left her an $18 tip when I couldn't even get hot sauce. I proceeded to ask for a manager the manager came (who was also the bartender) I could see they were short staffed, I get it. He began to tell me the service charges were because the wait staff are mostly college students and single mothers and they're just trying to make a living wage. (Everything he said it was probably factual, but that doesn't mean I have to pay more for poor service.) He then removed the $18 service charge and I still left a tip; a cash tip for what I think was appropriate based on the level of service I received. Fast forward 12 hours I'm home now & I am heating up my crab dip. I took one bite and I bite down on a piece of metal lodged in the dip. This is unacceptable. I never leave reviews but I would hope and pray that they would see this and do better before someone chokes on a piece of metal from one of their little centerpieces. read more

I came here early on the first night of restaurant week and had a lovely dinner with flavors originating somewhere in the magical intersection of Eastern Europe and the middle east. You can't get food like this anywhere else in Charlotte that I'm aware of -- it's like food we'd get at the old-school church dinners that my grandmother took us to when I was growing up, in Kenosha, which was full of various Eastern European immigrants. Anyway, I'm giving this place five stars purely because the food was so amazing, even though they are still working out some kinks service-wise -- I got a different appetizer than what I ordered (although I can't say it was wrong, because what I got was delicious) and the appetizer and main came out kind of at the same time. The staff was lovely and attentive, they were just all obviously very new and kind of training each other as they went. Anyway, this place just opened a couple of weeks ago, but food this good should not be going un-eaten during Restaurant Week, so get over there and try it out. You should go if: you think Charlotte's fancy dining places are a little same-y same-y; you go to restaurants hoping to taste something that you hadn't imagined beforehand; you're a distant descendant of Genghis Khan and have a nostalgia for the steppes; and you're tolerant of a little whimsy (ok a lot, my lamb came with a helmet and the waiter advised me that wearing it would make the food taste better). I can vouch for the soup dumplings (hinkali) and the slow-cooked lamb shank, which is served with a delicious herb-infused rice. The honey cake is one of those amazing pastries you only seem to ever find in Europe, and should be eaten with a little cup of Turkish coffee that they will make for you if you ask. read more

Had an AMAZING brunch with my daughter at Deluxe Fun Dining. Everything here is Instagram-able and super cool to look at. It's not "just a gimmick" everything was delicious. I had chicken wings and a red velvet waffle and it came with some exotic fruits I'd never tried before. My daughter had the Popcorn Shrimp - which was served with popcorn in a popcorn popping machine. We both had pineapple mimosas (hers a mocktail) and they came with dry ice for a dramatic effect. The food was out of this world amazing. The drinks were delicious had me feeling like Beyoncé. Our service from the moment I booked the reservation was bomb. I visited the restaurant this past weekend for the birthday dinner of a friend of mine. Everything was fine until the food came out. We had a party of 10 and every one was served their food except for me. I waited, and waited. About 20 mins into everyone eating, here comes the manager with my plate. At this point, everyone was pretty much finished eating and were ready for their bills. I asked the manager if she could box up my plate for me since it had taken so long. I also asked that the meal be given to me complimentary as a result of having to wait nearly 30 minutes for it to be brought to me. She said "if I box up your food and bring it to you, you will be charged for it". I was pissed but since I was there as a guest for someone else's birthday, I decided not to make a big deal about it. I ended up not eating anything. This was the worst experience ive ever had at an "upscale" restaurant. The management didn't offer any type of apology or anything. Went on New Year's Day to celebrate. As out-of-towners from DC we LOVED our unique experience here. Over the top decor, live music upstairs, and disco laser lights. All good vibes from the bartenders, the singer, the server, the host. Food was served in such a ridiculously fun way that had us laughing! Food was delicious! We wanted to try the 24k wings but they were out.. we were told the menu changes daily.. not a problem for us because we went in with an open mind. We had the cheese puffs for appetizer, very soft , buttery, flaky, and lots of cheese. Lobster and crab pasta was so creamy, flavorful, tasted like freshly made pasta. Short ribs was in a rich, flavorful sauce. Ended our meal with a cheesecake, caramel flavor, almost a mousse-like texture. 10/10 would come here again when in town.
