Charbel Tamo is 100/10! I highly recommend him. I always wanted beautiful, healthy hair but never thought it was possible until I started seeing Charbel. I've been going to him for well over a decade, and I wouldn't trust anyone else with my hair. I started going gray in my 20s, and previous stylists relied on highlights, bleach, and toner to cover and blend my grays, which left my hair damaged and unhealthy. Charbel is so skilled with color that he's able to blend my grays beautifully with color alone, so way less processing and damage. Now I only need root touch-ups every 8 weeks. Not only does that save me time and money, but my hair is also the healthiest it's ever been. I receive compliments on it all the time--even from other stylists. I paid top bankers hill salon dollar and received strip mall Fantastic Sams service. I don't feel like my stylist Chely took his time with me or treated me like I was valuable. He aggressively combed through my curly hair and it had products in it, without even wetting it, so that was uncomfortable, then didn't style it afterwards until I asked about recommendations on whether I should buy a diffuser. After he finished, I checked out my hair in the restroom, realized I didn't love it, so I came back to him moments later and asked him to fix an area. It was at this moment that I realized why he was rushing me, he had squeezed me in between with a client who was getting her hair dyed because when I asked him to fix my hair he was already rinsing color out of his other client's hair. He cut the area I asked him to fix and then told me we're good as long as I don't need anything else cut. He turned and burned my chair in less than 30 min. I was expecting the Royal treatment but got pumped and dumped so fast, I left feeling jipped. I hadn't been to a nice salon in a long time and I told him that. I guess he didn't care. Im saddened by my poor experience. I thought I was making a smart decision to come here and spend more, but with Chely, you don't get what you pay for sadly. I hate my hair. He cut too much off my bangs which I told him not to do. I still tipped him bc I'm not an asshole but I'm starting to regret that too. read more

Charbel Tamo - Game Changer for Thick Hair I'm a guy with seriously thick hair, and I spent the first twenty-two years of my life struggling to find a good haircut. Unless I asked for a super short military cut (which I can't pull off, anyway), nine times out of ten I leave a salon/barber shop/etc. looking like a chia pet. While I found better stylists as I got older, I still felt like I hadn't met someone that truly knew what to do with my hair. This was such a gem salon! I was greeted by a friendly receptionist when I arrived and directed to go put on a robe. I thought robe?!? Wtheck! It was surprising and a really nice addition to their service. My stylist was Aliz and she was real cool and really great at hair. My hair type is super curly.. like tight, little curls and I walked out of there with straight hair that blows in the wind:) super awesome! She also offered me wine in the beginning and again I was like wine?!? Ha! You can probably tell I do not go get my hair done often and definitely not at an upscale salon. Now, I have to return because I loved my experience that much! I don't love the parking meters but heck the staff has to pay to park for work as well so as a customer I will get over it. My family were in town for my niece's wedding on 11/3. I was referred to this salon by our AirBnB host Jane, where we were staying for the weekend. We booked for mobile service with Jessica and Sonia for 3 updo's (my mom, myself and older sister) and 3 makeup sessions (my mom, myself and younger sister), respectively to be done onsite. My mom is 82, grandmother of the bride, we really didn't want to shuffle her around town. My 2 daughters were the flower girls, I did not want to worry about finding childcare while we were all at the salon and me rushing back to get them ready. So thankful they have mobile service available. Jessica and Sonia arrived on time at our AirBnB rental and set up with everything they needed for all our different hair types and looks requested. We had so much fun! I called on a Thursday at 11:30 and got an appointment at 12:30. After the phone call, I got a text confirmation of my appointment. I honestly have not gone to a salon in a very long time, years to be exact. As I arrived at the salon to Charbel waiting for me in the lobby, was a nice surprise. He immediately walked me in to or my robe on. He asked me a few questions as to what I was looking for and checked out my hair. My hair is very long and needed a cut badly. After discussing what I was looking for he then took me to wash my hair, he described all of the products he used on me while massaging my head, which was uh-mazing! Charbel was very knowledgeable of all the products and also gave me tips and suggestions on how to maintain when I'm home. After citing my hair he styled it with a blow dryer and curled it with a brush. His technique was very interesting but also he knew what he was doing. He was very personable and seemed passionate about what he does. I was very pleased with my hair and my experience that I purchased most of the products he suggested. He also recommended and showed me how much of what to use and when. I honestly won't be needing another haircut for a while since his technique allows my hair to grow with the cut. I'm looking forward to our next cut! I needed to be wowed with his experience as i was very nervous but he made it enjoyable, relaxing, and gave me piece of mind with how experienced he was. When it comes to hair it takes a lot for me to try a new salon. In the 6 years I've lived in San Diego I have only strayed from my hairstylist of more than 10 years, three times. This is that third time. I was a a walk-in at the Denise Barrow Salon & Spa. I put off getting my hair re-colored and cut for quite a long time. It was definitely time to show my hair some loving or be slapped with style neglect. One hot Saturday afternoon I stepped inside the cool Denise Barrow salon to see if there were any appointments available for a cut and color. Just my luck, Jason Dillon had an opening and it was mine! I came back for my scheduled appointment time and we discussed the direction I wanted to take my hair style. We both agreed that the "Victoria Secret VaVOOM" would be the winning style. We'd do warm brown highlights to bring out the naturally rich brunette tones. As for the cut, we'd keep it simple clean it up and layer it up to add some bounce to my natural waves. A couple of hours flew by as Jason and I chatted up a storm. He is such a great stylist that from start to finish I KNEW I was in great hands. When he turned me around to check out the finish product my jaw dropped. It was literally a transformation from my lackluster color to now glammed up, red carpet ready tresses. The other stylists even stopped to take a moment and compliment the work. I was smiling from ear to ear. This salon is fantastic not only for the service, the ambiance and the pricing but because they have stylists that care about their work and that are knowledgeable and LISTEN to their customers. For the past 7 years, I have been going up to Umberto in B Hills and paying WAY too much for color and cut. Little by little I noticed that I was no longer getting compliments.
