The Camarillo Denny's is probably typical of every other Denny's EXCEPT for waitress Janet who keeps us coming back. Food quality is what you expect of Denny's and the manager (owner?) really needs to take some restaraunt management courses as he really seems clueless at times. Our family of 5 went to Denny's in Camarillo, California for our Xmas dinner. We were from out of town. This was the only restaurant open in the area. It was very crowded. We each ordered different items from the menu. After we left for our hotel room, within an hour and a half, we all had food poisoning. Lots of diarrhea and throwing up. It was pretty bad. While traveling south, we found this Denney's open on Christmas. The place was very busy yet we were seated pretty quickly. Waitress was nice & efficient. But food was poor. I ordered the Cranberry chicken apple salad - it came with NO apples. My husband ordered chicken fried steak with Fiesta Corn & Smoked cheese mashed potatoes - corn was plain - no seasoning no "fiesta" & the mashed potatoes just had shreeded cheese on top of bland potatoes. I came in with someone around 10 for breakfast. I wasn't sure what I wanted, well I wanted a burger but these seemed sort of expensive. I ended up getting the bacon avocado one and don't regret it. It was all good, I did not specify how I wanted it cooked, but it was really good anyway. The only bad thing in my opinion was the lettuce, it was a little big for my taste. Worst Denny's experience I've ever had. Ever. I am a frequent Denny's go-er, it's affordable and open late. This is the only one I've ever been to that was this bad, and I'll never go back. Took forever to get our order, I was given the wrong order, when my correct order came back you could see the plate from the wrong order was reused, the remnants of the greaasy burger I hadn't ordered were all over the plate it had been slid off and my breakfast burrito replaced on it, my food was covered in ranch dressing I hadn't ordered (I hate ranch) and we got zero compensation for our time and food mistakes. I have been to many Denny's all over the west coast, and was always satisfied with both service and food... BUT, not this time. From the service to the food, everything was bad. The wait time was 30 minutes for our breakfast, the table had sticky stuff on it that I asked to get cleaned - but that didn't happen. The eggs were under cooked, the ham was over cooked, the sausage was stale. The waitress forgot the toast for BOTH of our meals... She never checked on us after bringing our food and when we tried to get her attention we were ignored :( Needless to say there was no tip and a complaint when paying the bill. I waited 12 minutes(yeah I timed it) for Laura, who did not introduce herself; to acknowledge my existence. The food was lukewarm upon arrival and tasteless. Came here during a SLOW morning. I ordered eggs, bacon, wheat toast, and an english muffin. It took 20 minutes to get my food out and she forgot my toast, brought the wrong kind of eggs, and brought me a biscuit instead of the english muffin. I asked her if she could fix it. I wasn't rude at all. She finally brought me my english muffin but still no toast! When i reminded her i needed my toast she said she would be right back. 15 MINUTES LATER she comes back with burnt toast!! I told her i wasn't going to eat it and if she could please bring me a fresh plate of toast. I wasn't rude at all i was just getting frustrated. you bet i didn't leave a tip. Bad from the second we walked in the door...All around slow and careless! My sandwich was cold in the middle and it took forever to get a refill on my beverage, took so long to get our check we had to go ask for it! This Denny's is the worst restaurant I've ever been to. The service is terrible, almost all of the servers are sour. I've repeatedly had bad waiters. Although, there are a few that try their best and I respect them as they respect me. Meals take 30 minutes to receive, regardless of how many customers there are. The meals themselves are what you'd expect from a typical Denny's, nothing too amazing. I once ordered all-you-can-eat pancakes and waited 20 minutes to receive two pancakes (it takes 20 minutes to make two pancakes?). After I finished those, I requested some more, but never received them and had to leave because it was taking so long. There isn't anything else to say that hasn't been said already. I've been to this Denny's multiple times and I always have the same experience. I'd highly recommend not coming here and saving yourself some bucks. read more

Very unfriendly manager and staff. I know not to expect much from a Denny's, but good customer service isn't much. Walked in to an annoyed manager that he had to seat us then didn't receive service for 15/20 mins (It wasn't that busy). Found a short hair in my food, about an inch long. Which could have been mine however I have very long hair. I've been to a few Denny's that weren't this bad. I would just recommend they fix their customer service. read more

Went to grab some late night food with some friends and ended up at Denny's. Probably the only place open at 130am in Camarillo. When we got there, there was one party of 4 ppl, a table of 1, and us. We ordered our drinks and it took about 10 min before we got them. Which made no sense, since it was dead in there. When our drinks finally come out, we ordered. About 8 min. Later out server we get our dinner salads. I asked for her to bring me extra ranch. 10 min later I had to get up and ask her for it again. Then a lil later she comes to tell me that they don't have what I ordered, (cheddar mashed potatoes) so I order another side dish. When I got my food, it was definite a reminder of why we don't eat at Denny's often. She did only charge me for a side steak & side salad, that was nice. Thanks! Ordered a veggie omelette with Cheddar instead of Swiss, and red potatoes on the side instead of hash browns. After around 30 minutes, omelette comes out with Swiss. Ask for the omelette to go back and get fixed, and also for a set of utensils since there were none on the table. Waitress takes omelette back, then ignores us for 20 minutes. Had to go up to the front and ask a different waitress for utensils so I could at least eat the potatoes while I waited. Instead of apologizing, this waitress just went on some spiel about how she always sets up tables with utensils and that she must not have done our table...? Omelette finally comes out, and instead of remaking it, cook just left the Swiss on there and put a slice of AMERICAN cheese on top. This used to be a good restaurant with friendly, efficient servers who knew their clientele. It no longer is. We came in last night for dinner, shortly after 6, and finally walked out just before 7. Our food never came. We told the manager how long we had been waiting, and he muttered, "So?" He really didn't care that the place was no longer efficient. If they were short on staff, the server should have returned to our table to inform us. We don't even know if the server had placed the order. We have never walked out before an order had arrived. My hubby and I walked in around 11 a.m. on a Saturday morning, and there were two parties ahead of us, waiting to be seated ( one 2 person and one 3 person.) We gave our names and sat down to wait. I saw that we were the ONLY names on the list. About 2-3 minutes later, two parties of 6 came in. They both walked up to the podium and a different person than the one I spoke with was there. This person seated both parties IMMEDIATELY!!! I am not prejudiced, but the host was hispanic and so were BOTH large parties!! He disregarded the list of parties that were waiting and proceeded to push his "friends" ahead of all of us!! When we got up to leave, very upset, he asked how many in our party and offered to seat us right away!! Yeah...RIGHT!!!! My husband and I will NEVER enter this establishment again...even though we have numerous coupons, offers, etc. It's too bad that this one employee thought he had the right to change policy to benefit his "friends!!"
