I have to be completely honest: my past experiences at various Denny's locations have usually been pretty subpar. We all know the stigma--a lot of them tend to feel a little rundown and neglected. Because of that, I walked into this location on Bascom Avenue with pretty low expectations, but I was absolutely blown away. The moment I stepped inside, I was warmly welcomed and seated quickly. The first thing that caught my attention was how extremely clean and organized the entire restaurant was. It was a night-and-day difference from what you usually expect from the chain. The server who helped me was fantastic. I really wish I had caught his name, but he was a male with a goatee. He was incredibly efficient, friendly, and genuinely conversational, making the entire visit feel welcoming rather than just transactional. When it came to the food, it arrived quickly, but not too fast. Honestly, I preferred that slight pause because when the plate actually hit the table, it was obvious the kitchen took their time. The food was prepared with proper procedure and care--it was easily the most perfect-looking meal I have ever received at any Denny's in my entire life. Huge shout-out to this team. They deserve a ton of credit for completely separating themselves from the masses and shattering the unfortunate stigma that follows other locations. We are now blessed with two Gold Standard Denny's locations. Well done, Manager! I enjoyed a Double Berry Banana Pancake Slam a couple days ago. Everything was fresh and tasty. The bacon was lean and delicious, too. There was a generous serving of sliced banana and excellent ripe strawberries on top of the pancakes! Our server was very attentive; our coffees never went dry. The restarant was clean and inviting as usual. Temperature control was spot on. Perfectly comfortable for old men and perhaps a tiny bit brisk for women. Team members went far out of their way to be kind and accomodating to us senior citizens; in one case dashing to whisk seating out of the way so that we could easily park our wheelchair. A surprisingly "home-style" turkey dinner from a place that isn't trying to be fancy Most Thanksgiving turkey plates at big chains taste like they came straight out of a banquet steam pan: dry edges, tired fibers, more volume than soul. This $16 turkey plate at Denny's wasn't that. When we ordered, the server casually mentioned: "If you're debating between the $15 and $16 options, most guests prefer the $16 one." On the menu photo, the $15 version does look noticeably paler, but we didn't order it, so I won't speculate. What I can say is that the $16 turkey we got was legitimately juicy, tender, and closer to a homemade roast than to processed "holiday tray" meat. The real test? My friend - someone who usually does not like Thanksgiving turkey - cut off a piece, chewed for a second, and said: "This is actually good." That one sentence says more than most reviews. * Turkey - moist, warm, and properly seasoned. * Stuffing - tasted like it actually saw some turkey drippings, not just dry boxed mix. * Mashed potatoes - creamy, with real bacon bits mixed in, which is well above typical diner expectations. * Gravy - classic, smooth, and does its job. The only clear weak point: cranberry sauce. It's obviously the canned style - shape and texture give it away. At this price point it's not shocking, but if they ever upgraded this one component to a simple house cranberry sauce, the whole plate would jump a tier. That said, to be fair: On the days before Thanksgiving, at a 24/7 national diner chain, for $16 total, getting a turkey dinner that tastes this decent and this comforting is already outperforming quite a few places charging a lot more for their "holiday special." DoorDashed the Cali Club Sandwich a couple times this week for lunch. It is such a scrumptious sandwich with turkey, ham, bacon, Swiss cheese, avocado, lettuce, and tomato. The avocado is the best part; it's fresh and they give you lots of it. The fries are good, too, but if you want to make it a bit healthier you can order fruit instead. I've never been much of a Denny's fan, but ever since I tried the Cali Club Sandwich about a year ago I've been going back for it again and again. Usually I don't review chains from which I don't expect consistency with respect to standards or QC or for which I would guess there might be a frequent turnover of kitchen staff. But I was curious about what Denny's food is now like, and this location is a more recent opening. I ordered the build-your-own omelette. The egg was maybe average in taste, definitely not high quality. The sausage was not good at all, it tasted and felt like a vegetarian substitute. The pancakes were ok but not fluffy enough; the hash browns could have been cooked longer, they weren't crispy enough. I also sampled the bacony friend had. It was more like turkey bacon than pork bacon, not delectable for me. So the high rating for the egg and the pancakes, and that's being generous. Service was ok but our server could have checked on the table for water refills more often as there was at most only one other party in the restaurant at that time. I wouldn't expect service quality to improve much though given the talent pool for such positions, and for management as well. I don't plan on trying another Denny's any time soon. read more

Very nice, cute little mini Denny's. We got seated right away even though it was Saturday morning, and our Waiter was very nice. Food came out quick and was exactly as we ordered, plus they put my savory stuff on one plate and my sweet stuff on another without me asking, which made me very happy! They were also very nice to my service dog, and no one tried to distract her, which I really appreciated. Plenty of parking, but the accessible spaces are not super close to the door, your best spot if you are going to have mobility issue is to park in back as close to the Apricot Ave as you can and come around the building on that side, this will set you up with their ramp, which is a pretty good low slope, to the front door. I had the new brioche french toast, and it was really good. I'm a regular at this restaurant. I love the hamburgers, and the lunches are usually inexpensive and delicious. It's always nice to go when Christian (I think she's the manager) is there. She once helped me with a misunderstanding with someone else about my food and since then we always chat a little. TERRIBLE SERVICE! I walked in on Halloween! They told me they wouldn't seat me due to there dirty dishes? I have no clue as to why it is so hard to wash some for the guests? They then forced me to order out while I'm in town visiting so that's kinda hard for me to eat out of my car. I think went and used the first bathroom I saw NO TOILET PAPER so I went to the next one again NO TOILET PAPER or even paper towels. It's Halloween not only that but a Saturday and this is absolutely the most unprofessional dennys let alone restaurant I have ever been to. Went here on 8/25 at about 730 PM. Eager to try the new Beetlejuice menu, super excited. I got off work and raced over here. My party was handed menus by a visibly disgruntled server and rudely told to sit down. This was the last we ever saw of him. A good 30 mins have passed. Not a single acknowledgement. No drink orders taken. Not even a "Hi" or a look in our direction. After a half hour of being clearly ignored, we left. Not good, Dennys. Do better. read more

The location, decor and staff are lovely here. Even on a packed Christmas morning things worked well. The staff were efficient and pleasant. Pancakes and eggs were good as usual. The only issue is price and breakfast meats, both of which aren't the staff/managements fault. It's Denny's, breakfast for two shouldn't cost $65. But with the economy I can overlook that. What gets me is that shrinkflation decimated the sausage and bacon. The links and strips are 1/3 the size and taste strange. There is some sort of filler in the new formulation and barely edible. Dennys corporate needs to do something, for 65 bucks I'd rather go to a local breakfast spot. read more

We go to this Denny's for the convenience of how close it is to our house but we always have a complaint so time to finally write a review. Today there was no silverware, ketchup, salt and pepper as well (but this is a first, we always receive those) 1) my partner ALWAYS using coupons, this location consistently tries to deny our coupons that come from the Dennys app. The excuse from them today for why we couldn't use our 20% off coupon is because "our coupon is expired" so he tried to use another one. Denied again. Not sure why there is always a disagreement on our coupons, that's something they need to honor and bring up their concerns with their own corporate, not customers. 2. Every time we go my partner's meal is wrong; he hates bacon and asks for all sausage, 8 times out of 10 he receives bacon. We never go back to complain or fix our meal. 3. The Bacon! Are you kidding me? Thats not even a full piece of bacon, at that point I wish I would've asked for all sausage as well. We broke out laughing looking at the size of that bacon, I never would accept this for an in-house meal. That's definitely something that's gotten away because we are Take-Out. 4. Food is yummy; eggs are eggs, hash-browns are hash-browns, pancakes are pancakes. It's just about the complete inconvenience from staff. After a couple of minutes, the staff turned up a second radio with different music, but kept the main one on at the same decibel level. It was too much for my nerves, so we politely asked that one of them be turned down. He then took our drink order and went around the corner to fetch the drinks. At that very moment, another music station started playing even louder than the first one. So we decided it was not worth trying our nerves just to eat here.
