Dined here for quick breakfast with good friend and the restaurant conditions were filthy. They had not dusted or cleaned the window sills in the booths in a long time. The party in the adjacent booth lifted the window shade and when they did (since the large window covered half of our booth and half of their booth) there were dead bugs (flies) and dust up there. It was gross!!!!! On top of that it took them a half hour to do to simple egg omelettes.I had to say something to the server and after that it took five more minutes before we got our meals. I don't usually write reviews but this one was bad I had to. This is the worst Denny's I have ever been. It was dark inside, horrible service and dirty. There were tables that weren't cleaned for long periods. The coffee cup still has someone's lipstick stain on it. Hash brown was raw. The waitress pays more attention to other customers. We waited 30mins for cold food when the restaurant wasn't busy. Coffee wasn't refilled. She didn't bother to ask if everything is going well. I've got to give them props. Opened in the middle of this blizzard with no other place other than gas stations for miles!! I walked in and noticed a packed restaurant and frantic waitstaff. One flew by stating she would be with me as soon as she could. I decided to do take out instead, so I mosey myself on to the to-go counter. I was greeted fairly quickly but no smile. Basically, "What do you want?" No menu was offered, so I ordered from memory. Immediately given a total with no offer of a drink. Plus a 30-40 minute wait. I ordered a club sandwich with fries. Fries were not very tasty and the sandwich had a greasy feeling to it. Turned my stomach a little from the first bite. Food was subpar but what can I say? Denny's food doesn't rate in the top echelon of diner-style table service restaurant fare in America but it can still be a decent choice for dining. For the most part the food is good, not outstanding but good in an average kind of way. Breakfast foods (pancakes, eggs, bacon, omelets, etc...) are pretty solid across the board and breakfast is available all day long. If you want breakfast for lunch they've got you covered, ditto for dinner or any other time. Lunch and dinner entrees are pretty much okay and the burgers are actually really delicious. When the wavy-cut fries are fresh and hot they're really good too, I've not tried the seasoned fries. A couple of side dishes I enjoy at Denny's are the creamed corn and the sauteed zucchini and squash. I really love that Southwest creamed corn, it just may be my favorite thing at Denny's. Appetizers are kind of lame but mostly okay, nothing great but passable. I've never tried any of their desserts. So the food is average for the most part but there are some things that stand out at this Denny's location. The service is great, friendly and efficient. The servers check back to make sure everything is okay, sometimes the manager will also stop by the table to say hello and check on things. The restaurant is clean and attractive. This building is not your typical Denny's design as it was formerly a Silver Diner. The standalone building is attractive and well-maintained. The interior is a spacious and attractive open floor plan. In my opinion, this may be the most attractive Denny's I've ever visited. The private parking lot is clean and in good repair, it is of adequate size so parking should not be an issue. Another nice thing about this Denny's is that it's open 24 hours, if the hungries hit you they will always be available. What about prices? The prices are very reasonable and you can really save some money with their AARP discount. Just show your AARP card to receive a generous 15% discount. In my experience the discount is always applied to the entire guest check even if some members of my party are not seniors. Wait, it gets better. If you use the YELP CASH BACK program and pay with one of your linked credit cards you will get 8% cash back credited to your primary card. I would rate the food at three stars but I am bumping this review up to four stars due to the great service, clean and comfortable facility and value for my dollar. Stick with breakfast items or burgers and you should have a very pleasant dining experience. On top of that, consider their generous 15% AARP discount coupled with 8% Yelp cash back. My husband and I love breakfast food. LOVE it. We tip well, we're understanding customers, but seriously Denny's? We went at 2pm on a Thursday. One of two tables seated in the house. Our order was wrong, even though we clarified twice. I never got a coffee refill, even though I know our server saw my empty cup AND after I asked her, and she said she'd get it. Never got a refill. Terrible service, especially for being so dead. At least we didn't get charged for the items we ordered but never received. read more

Service: Service was great. We were seated immediately. Our server was courteous, pleasant, patient, and prompt. We had a small issue. We had a gentleman sit in the booth right beside us, and let's just say his personal hygiene was extremely poor. We asked to be moved to another booth and they did just that. (Evidently, this man comes in all the time and it is known to the employees that he has a physical issue). Our food did take a long time to come out, almost 35 minutes. However, I commend the manager, he came by our table several times to ask if everything was ok, and I watched him do the same to the rest of the tables. Food: I ordered the lumberjack slam. Eggs were tasty, ham, bacon, and sausage were yummy. The hash browns were cooked perfect and the pancakes were on the overcooked side. Hubby ordered the grand slam, but he was disappointed he was shorted hash browns. He must have had about half of a portion. My 4 year old ordered the junior slam with confetti pancakes. He liked it, but I felt they put too much cream on the pancakes. I loved the fact they have kids' menus and crayons. Overall, everything was just ok. Every few years, I try Denny's and every time I walk away thinking how I'll never come back...This time was no different. I felt sorry for our waitress since she was one person trying to wait on 8 different tables at the same time...(None of this was her fault)....The food itself was "ok"...Not great, not terrible either...A couple of oddities...After our meal was brought to us, my wife asked about jelly for her toast.."We don't have jelly" was the answer...It was the same earlier when we asked about apple juice for our 2 year old grandson...(It was on the menu)????.....I will say this about Denny's...They seem to be consistently challenged to provide good food or service...We have eaten at a few with friends (especially in Florida) that have been pretty decent...However, most of the time, they are really lacking...When we consider all of the breakfast eateries around here, its hard to justify picking Denny's over any of them and we never will again... read more

Order take out and it was horrible. They were not busy at all so I don't Understand why food was badly prepared. Patty melt was bland and thrown together. Let's call it duh duh duh Dennys... I came here for lunch yesterday with one of my co-worker's Brian. Brian had said he wanted a big bowl of chili... I figured what the heck, I haven't reviewed them yet. Denny's can be found in the old Silver Diner building that's just off Battlefield Blvd in front of the Home Depot lot. We walked in an took a look around. Brian didn't see the person that usually waits on him so we took a seat at the counter. Our server appeared and took drink orders while we looked over the menu. I had a little difficulty deciding on breakfast or lunch and finally settled on a club sandwich with fries. Brian was having the same problem. After reviewing the menu he changed his order to a country fried steak with mashed potatoes and a side of broccoli. The place wasn't very busy, I would say the were just less than a quarter full of customers, however there was quite a bit of staff milling about. About 10 minutes in I saw a club sandwich placed on the pick-up area between the kitchen and where the waitresses are working behind the counter. I thought to myself. "I bet that's my sandwich". About 15 after we ordered our server came up to Brian and reported the kitchen didn't have any mashed potatoes and that it would take another 15-20 minutes to make some. Would he like to wait? Really? You waited until 15 minutes after placing the order to tell someone that? Brian changed his order to fries, but clearly wasn't happy. That was the last we saw of our server. I don't know if she was done for the day or just went and sat in the back she was gone. There was no apology, not offer of something else... Around the 20 minute mark our food was delivered by a new server. You guessed it, the club sandwich that had been sitting on the shelf the last 10 minutes was mine. The fries were cold and the sandwich was now room temperature. I looked around however there was no manager on the floor and no one to talk to either and frankly who had the time as the lunch our was rapidly going away. We ate our meals and went over to the checkout. My meal ran me almost $15 with the tip. For a smallish club sandwich and cold fries. I'm not kidding. What a joke. Now I remember why I haven't been to a Denny's in 10 years... Think I'll wait another 10 before I try them again. Besides there are many better options in the Greenbrier area for lunch. read more

Our server had a mask on, which the entire time we were here, wore it around his chin so not sure why he had a mask on, but he also had some kind of white food that was in his beard around his mouth. Very unprofessional for a food service employee so it looks to the quality of personal hygiene. When I got my dood, I ordered a moons over my hammy, the ham inside was cold and the cheese was so cold it had not melted. Not really sure how they did that when it's a grilled sandwich. I don't understand how they keep getting worse. From slow orders and wrong orders, to wait staff that smells like they chew cigarettes and hot box in their cars between customers. Despite it I decided to give it one more try this morning. I went in saw maybe 10 people in store, get told to wait to be seated. Stand there for a few minutes before someone yells across the place "just sit wherever" a few mins after sitting down a server finally appears with menu and takes my order for coffee and water then I sit there for several minutes while being able to see my server isn't waiting on other customers but is standing at the counter. Went there on my birthday, after a first bad service, I ordered a silion breakfest deal with side pancakes and my wife order the turkey melt sandwitch with onion rings. Her rings was burnt and my steak that I ordered over med well was rare and bloody and hash browns was grease. Eggs was sunny side up not scramed and was over cooked. When come to store manger they said it was on house but we still got charged for worst meal I ever seen. Our hostness was nice but did give us any forks etc intil late. Entire was very bad and they still charged us even after they said on the house so lied on that.So I say DO NOT GO THERE OR GET RIBBED OFF. I'm always in the mood for breakfast. Whether it's night or day it's all good. Tonight I got a BYO grand slam: scrambled eggs, wheat toast, and two gouda apple sausage hearty links. I slammed it up with a side of fresh fruit. It was all good as usual. For a sweet treat I got the Santas milk and cookies shake. Well not yet. I plan on it. I have to give this place 5 stars just based on customer service. Everyone greeted me when I arrived. As I waited for my order each person that passed by ask me if someone help me already. And I really appreciated them doing that. Cause at most chain restaurants. Some staff members will just stare at you.... Like why are you even here?... Lol! Smh! I came here about three times. Third time is a charm I guess. Denny's is your basic chain breakfast restaurant. Yes! They do serve other things besides breakfast. Now inside is a little run down. With some updates to the inside this place can be great again. The food was ok. I got the country fried steak and the seasonal fruit on the side. The food is slow coming out. But they get an A+ for customer service from me! This particular Denny's is not hard to miss. It's actually right in front of Home Depot and next to Walgreen's. I love this place. It has a true diner ambience including friendly, very accommodating waitstaff. I get breakfast including scrambled eggs and gluten free English muffin most often and it is always cooked beautifully. I'm particular about my coffee and it's always taken care of for me. I enjoyed the food to a degree. The omelette was what it was supposed to be however I would recommend they smooth out the egg when putting it on the pan because some parts of the omelette were thick in places which pushed the ingredients apart. The side of bacon and the tots, I decided to sacrifice my hash browns for ended up getting a little over cooked. Now some people like it like this, however I prefer to taste bacon and tots when I bite into them. Despite the late hour at which I decided to dine here I dont hold much worth on quick foods, however being a diner I expected more from the cooking of these basic ingredients. Currently sitting in the Denny's on Battlefield Blvd. There are at least eight tables open but there is a 15-minute wait. We chose to sit at the bar thinking the wait would be less time. The gentleman next to us has been here for 40 minutes and he just received his breakfast which consists of two eggs hash browns and bacon. Sitting at the bar gives us a good view of what is happening. Poor management. Everyone is running around in circles. I'm sure the breakfast will be good but it's not worth the wait. read more
