Jeanette or Jeanine (can't quite remember her name) is an EXCELLENT server. She's super polite, got our food out at a reasonable time, made sure my table's coffee was fresh, etc. If anything I would say she's one of the best servers there going off of my previous experiences at this Denny's. We sat down and never received silverware until asking three times AFTER we got our meals. I am also an Uber eats driver and they always have the food ready usually and if they don't it doesn't take too much time. I really enjoy when I go there and Earl is working. He is the best! Worst Experience ever due to the service!! I was trying to cut our server some slack saying it wasn't her fault the food took WELL over a half hour to come out, but even she was horrible. We put our empty water glasses closer to the end of the table as a hint we need water, and she NEVER came by to see how everything was, NEVER came to see if we needed anything, nothing. We had to call the hostess and ask her while she was sitting a table next to us. Never saw a Manager, and even when I was paying I was waiting for the cashier to ask how everything was so I could tell her it was bad but she never even asked. All I did was ask the server to substitute wheat pancakes instead of regular and she scoffed and seemed so distraught just by that one substitution. We didn't even substitute anything else. The bill then reflected an extra charge for some toppings which were in fact part of the entire meal so I asked her about it since the only substitute to the meal was wheat pancakes instead of regular and she scoffed again and shook her head like she was tired of being there. As a regular Denny's customer, I have never seen an establishment with such friendly staff. We came to LA from SJ and the Dennys where we're from has the worst staff to customer interactions. This specific Denny's treated us like family; checking up on us consistently, refilling our coffee and just overall being very nice. The waiter that goes by the name Eddie or Eddy went above and beyond with our service and tipped him nicely. And I don't usually tip generously. Came here on a Saturday morning with the family. I'm not a big fan of Denny's but my kids were hungry and this was the closest place available that wasn't too crowded. This has got to be one of the worst service experiences I've ever had! It wasn't extremely crowded. We waited perhaps 10 minutes to be seated. Then 20 minutes passed by and we didn't even get offered water or anything to drink. I had to flag down an employee and ask if anyone could please get us drinks. Another 10 minutes later and we finally ordered drinks after a second request. When we finally met our server we ordered breakfast. My children don't eat meat and they would not offer any type of substitute for the meat on their kids breakfast plates. She made it seem like it was a felony to substitute for something like slices of bananas LOL! So I paid full price for their breakfast and I wasn't able to get anything other than just their pancakes and eggs. I ordered my veggie omelette and asked if I could get anything other than hash browns and again she made a face like it was absolutely forbidden like she would lose her job lol I can't believe it was such a big deal. Yes I know this is Denny's and I really can't expect the best food and service. But one thing I have to mention is the lazy ass manager. I believe his name tag said Daniel Valencia. They were so busy and all his lazy ass was doing was standing by where the food is picked up and just putting butter on pancakes and sprinkling sugar on them. I mean come on you're the effing manager! Get your ass out there and hand out drinks and apologize for the delay maybe offer some free drinks just to make their customers happy. Where was this guy trained?! There were other people there who were also complaining that they were waiting almost 30 minutes without any service. Clearly they were short-staffed and clearly they have poor management. I feel sorry for those employees. You honestly have to put the blame on management. He should have stepped up to the plate and hustled out there to help his team. We came in for lunch on Tuesday, April 1 2014 at 1:30pm. Service earned Denny's 1 star. Raul, our server, did his best but the lack of care in the preparation and execution of our plates were nothing more than terrible. All the hash browns that came out tasted like burnt and stale potatoes that were cooked an hour prior in dirty butter/oil and held under a heat lamp... We had the country fried steak with over medium eggs. The eggs were so overcooked it tasted like rubber.. Nothing on the plate was hot.. Not the gravy, not the FRIED steak, nothing... We also had the super bird, the turkey inside the sandwich was burnt and fries we're cold.. I left thinking... What the heck was the cook thinking? Can you please care at least 1% more..? I came in for a late breakfast and it was slow. It took about 3 minutes to be seated standing at the front. After I was seated everything was great. The server followed up with my order and continued to ask how everything was. Upon leaving, I was asked to pay upfront after I tried to give my card to the server. I didn't understand that. The manager in the blue shirt walked past my table, made eye contact but sadly didnt say hi. After I got to the front Omar was very friendly and we chatted a bit about the area and had a good conversation. Everything at this location was great. I'll be back. The worst service I have ever had after getting seated we waited 20 mins before anyone even came to take a drink order even after she finally came to take the order we told her we were ready to order since we had so much time and she walked away after taking the dink order which even after took another 15 mins to take out food order when taking our order she tells us "it's going to take long but it's not because of me I'm not working slow" so our food took another 25-30 mins but the time the food came my hash browns were not even cooked throughly my moms pancakes were raw in the middle all the meat was Burt and she only brought out 1 order of toast we had 4 I asked for condiments and it never came the toast came out after we were done eating. When it takes him 2 mins to even choke down one piece, I check it again and find that ITS STILL RAW. THE TOP IS JUST BURNT. I wait for the busboy to come over because I've already gotten attitude from Mr. Runner and then HE GIVES ME ATTITUDE TOO. He tries to argue with me about the steak being "medium rare now" and that "that's our medium" BRUH, THIS THING IS COLD IN THE MIDDLE TOO AND I KNOW WHEN SOMETHING IS RAW. I'm friends with a chief & ive worked in food, I'm not stupid. So after arguing with him for 5 minutes, just continuously asking him to bring me the manager he finally gives in. We came to this Denny's after a long hike and waited 30-40 minutes to be seated. We finally get our table we order our food it took another 20-30 minutes to get our food. Only to find out that our friends chicken fried steak was hard as a rock. My 9 grain hearty pancakes were actually buttermilk pancakes sprinkled with flax seed. At this point I'm upset so I asked to speak to manager. Manager came out I introduced myself and shook his hand asked if we can talk in private (to respect his establishment and other guest) I explained the situation he said I'll get you a good discount and I'll go make the chicken fried steak again myself. I explained to him we were literally thinking of just leaving. He assured me things would be better. I went back to our table and 4 of us had our food and the 5th person waited 10 minutes to get her plate only to get poached eggs in a bowl filled with water. My husband and our friend ham steak was actually sandwich sliced meat. I then at that point had it. I ask our waiter for manager again . Ten minutes go by and we can see him in kitchen but he's blatantly ignoring us. Finally another waitress came to us and asked what she could do to make this right. I explained everything I told her you know I showed him respect shook his hand took him aside and he can't drop what he's doing and tend to us for 2 minutes. I explained to her we don't want to break the law but we do not want to pay for this I told her we will pay for our drinks but that's it. She said we can just go she understands. She was completely nice and she wasn't even a manager she stepped up because he wouldn't. I commend her for that. That's awesome. If I could give this place -10 I would.
