I used to go somewhat often, maybe 3 times a month or so cus I love the double cheeseburgers. I kept going back even though service was never great except maybe for this one lady with curly hair. The only reason why I would go is because it's the closest Denny's, or else I wouldn't have gone after the first time. Anyway, service is so slow and everyone seems really rude. I officially was fed up the time I was completely ignored for 15 minutes. I thought "hmm come on, they'll be here any minute... any minute now... any moment... hmm okkaay I'm outta here". Never been back since. Bottom line: WORST Denny's I have ever been to. Go to the one in Montebello or the one near Union Station. It's a real shame that the only Denny's in East LA has to be so bad. read more

This is the Cesar Chavez location on Mednik and Cesar Chavez. The experience from the beginning was weird, the waitress acted as if we were inconveniencing her... As we pushed forward her delay in bringing the food was obvious, a prime Cobb salad was the last item to be brought after 15 mins of basic grand slam meals.... My mistake in asking for a side order of fries finally arrived at the end of us all eating our meals ... Finally when We went to register to pay that was the final insult. We asked the cashier if they accepted aarp discount, I had an electronic copy of it but he said no he needed the actual card, first time ever that I've been ask for the actual card. My brother then provided his military card, only because bad waitress told us they honored it. Only to be told that he didn't acknowledge veterans discounts. The owner was a jerk and his insensitivity should not be allowed or tolerated, a neighborhood business will prosper with older people and veterans for this for owner to be insensitive and flat out rude is unacceptable. Me, my family and friends will never support this establishment and I suggest you reconsider you patronage. read more

This is the third time that this happens... We get here, are seated right away, and then no one comes over to take our order. I had to stand and go over to the host to ask who is our server because no one has bothered to check in with us. We were told that they are running behind and the host took the initiative to take our order. Thank goodness because my little guy was so hungry he was getting crabby. While I understand that it can be busy, especial on a weekend, this is not a way to run a business. As it is, I'm sitting here and it's not crowded. Plenty of empty tables for a Sunday afternoon. The lack of organization is terrible. Food has always been fine. No complaints there but the service is screaming for restructuring, organization, and real leadership. Nice people but failing at the actual service component... And I really don't feel like it's the employees. They seem nice. There is something deeper going on. Maybe the owner? Don't know. I got the $4 wraps its a chicken strip in a tortilla it would be great if the chicken strip wasnt so dry and burnt and my flour tortilla was crispy...uumm its supposed to be pliable but too crispy so it was more like a flour tostada!...Honey got $4 fried cheese sandwich it was a grilled cheese sandwhich its mozzorella sticks inside that was good...Baby got the kids spaghettii with mash patatos the spagetti was totally under cooked and cold that the noodles were rubbery so for a 6year old if you cant chew them too good because they are rubbery your going to choke on them and he did!!... Honey and i got fries..omg these fries were old and tasted old and cold not even my kid wanted to eat fries so they were left...our dinner for all came out to 15$ but damn I should have spent the 15$ on tacos instead atleast i would have ate something hot and good! You don't expect too much from a Denny's. A quixk inexpensive breakfast, or some grubby diner food after a late night. I have been to this location a few times and each time was worse than the last. The service here is horrible. It seems to have a high turn-over rate. On one of our last visits, the waitress was visibly annoyed that we needed anything at all starting with our order. Came in here Christmas Eve eve to get the turkey dinner. I asked for extra cranberry with my meal. When it came out, the cranberry looked a little strange. I hesitated and stirred it a little. Then I stick the spoon in my mouth. It was cranberry sauce with strawberry jelly. Yuck! I was really pissed. I have ordered this at Denny's about 10 times in the last couple of months and I know what the cranberry sauce looks and tastes like. I was livid. I told the waiter and he went to the kitchen. About 7 minutes later, (my dinner is getting colder) he comes out with a tray full of items for another table. I asked about my cranberry. He goes back into the kitchen and comes out saying the chef did that because there is no cranberry left. By now, my food was cold and i was pretty pissed, but I was hungry. I ordered a sirloin steak cooked medium. The steak comes out and the knife falls on the floor as he puts the steak in the table. I ask for another knife and wait and wait and wait. Finally, the manager comes to my table and I ask for a knife. She gets me one immediately. As I cut into the RARE steak, blood comes out onto the plate. I was disgusted. I flagged down the waiter and tell him. He makes a bunch of excuses and says he is doing the best he can. Now the cook is pissed and I'm afraid he's going to spit in my food. I will no longer frequent this Denny's. I ordered a "hamburger" to go and when I opened up my box it gad cheese. When I called to complain I was told that all their "hamburgers" come with cheese! I guess this is the only place I have to order a "hamburger" with out cheese! WORST SERVICE EVER! Our youth group tends to go here for a late night snack, and one day we decide to go again. The group started at 5, but soon, more memeber arrived, and we were about 10. The waitress comes to our table and starts asking us that how many more will show up, and that if we are aware she will not get to us soon because she is the only one there. She starts to tell us that the tip will be very high because we are a large group, and we tell her we don't mind that we had been there before. She then goes on to tell us that theres no way we can split the check, or the tables because her cameras saw that we came together, and she doesnt even help us, and gives us attitude! HELLO! WOW was the service bad. I was there yesterday, 10/28/12 with my family. We were a party of 13, we arrived around 7pm and it was empty. With the exception of 2 table that left right after we they showed us to our table. So now we are in this Denny's in an empty room and the waitress takes about 10 mins to come and take our drink order.... Then another 30 minutes go by before she could even bring us our drinks... the one good thing is that not even 5 minutes and we were already getting our food served. IT WAS ALL WRONG. They missed my hash browns, add extra toppings when we specifically ask to take them off not add extra. The hot chocolate tasted like hot water... and the waitress would get upset every time we complained. Then she didn't even come around once to see how we are doing. She was nowhere in sight for us to even call her over. Finally we started calling out her name several time until she pop her head out the kitchen; we were signaled that she is coming but it took her another 20 to actually come see what we needed. My family and I have been in the food service business for over 20 years; and we know what kind of service we should be getting but this restaurant by far FAILS everything. I placed online order and when I got there the young lady who gave me my ordered asked if I wanted to double check before I left, I doubled checked fast because it was full and I didn't want to take every single item out. Once I got home I noticed two items were missing and I decided to call to let them know about my missing items, I wasn't going to return for them, but I wanted to let them know so they can be more careful with other orders. Well the manager Alex or Alan was very rude and disrespectful to me accusing me of lying, I told yes they asked me to check and I thought everything was there, but I was only calling them to let them know and to just be careful next time, I didn't want the items or anything free just giving them a heads up. This place is the worst. I have no idea what kind of drugs the employees are on, but it is uniformly BAD here. Just now, for example, as usual, I called in a to-go order. A young woman answers and puts me on hold. Five minutes later I am still on hold. So I call back only to have their phone ring off the hook. What is wrong with these people? It isnt often that I come to this exact Denny's. I lack the understanding for all the low ratings. It was really good. I had the biscuits and gravy for 4$ (w/out tax) and water. The food was delicious: fluffy scrambled eggs, the biscuits and sausage gravy were perfect and the hash browns were a tad salty but nevertheless good. The atmosphere on a tuesday afternoon is incredibly chill and relax with waiters whistling along to the music. WORST MANAGER EVER!!! No customer service skills what so ever!! I don't blame the waiter/waitresses if they have a manager like this.. 1st - coffee was cold (I didn't know I ordered ice coffee) so I kindly told the waiter & he brought us a refill but still cold..2nd - our food was cold, I didn't mention anything about that but was very disappointed, then i asked for more coffee & still cold I told the waiter jokingly "I don't know why the coffee is cold today" he didn't even say sorry he just said well it's a fresh pot & walked away but I don't blame him when you have a manager with the same attitude..when I went to pay "the manager" (Armenian looking) didn't even ask how everything was so I took it upon my self to tell him nicely "just to let you know each time I asked for coffee it was cold" he looked at me shrugged his shoulders & put his hands up like "oh well"...WTF!! not even a sorry or I'll take care of it or I'll look into it...no customer service skills what so ever..I didn't expect a free bee just acknowledge that your sorry & you will look into it.. Horrible, horrible customer service! Please don't come here. I was here with a large group (10 total) one evening after a religious event in April and we waited 50 minutes for our food. When we spoke to the manager on site about the long delay she told us "well, why did so many of you come, we didn't know so many of you were coming" I responded, well we didn't know we had to inform you ahead of time to make sure your staff were prepared for large groups. The manager was rude and didn't even take our coupon after waiting for so long. Two months later (today) I decide to come back with my mom for breakfast thinking maybe service would be better and boy was I wrong. Again waited for 45 min to get our food which was simple eggs, bacon, hash brown and pancakes which were burned! 3 other parties that arrived after us received their food before us. Waiter never came by for coffee refills I had to get up and ask. I went over to talk to the manager about our experience but he checked the register and claimed we had arrived at a different time then the time I was claiming. Basically implying that I was lying. But, the couple sitting behind us were the ones who had arrived at the time he was referring to. I told him about the burned pancakes and he asked me if I had ordered another stack but I told him I didn't want to wait another 30 min for a set of pancakes. I was very disappointed once again, I didn't want to argue so I paid my full bill. He nothing about it. Didn't even apologize. I'm a fan of Denny's but I'll be going else where for sure! I was having lunch here with some coworkers, and the service was the worst I've ever had. the guy in the front completely ignored us because they were too busy socializing instead of giving us a table. Once we got a table, nobody even asked if we wanted water. We asked for a manager to see if we could get a different server and the manger who turned out to be the owner completely blew us off. He was rude and that made us want to leave the place instantly. We had already ordered but we had not gotten the food. We were walking out when the "manager" or owner, some armenian guy i believe, threatened us to call the cops if we didn't pay for the food we had ordered but had not even seen yet. Long story short, he did call the cops on us, they cops showed up they saw the food that was barely coming out and we had not touched and they let us go. All the workers were laughing and screaming "free food!". So if you live around that area or happen to be nearby, AVOID this place. This placed was ghetto the waiters were eatings peanuts in the customer dinning area and playing cards they got our oder wrong not once twice but three times. And looking around there were dishes on tables from previous customers. While the bus boys and waiters playing cards. Also I over heard the waiters gossiping in the hallway by the kitchen about " yeah tell them we got 2stars so Don expect more" after I tasted there burned chorizo and potatoes. I took a look at the reviews after I heard that and and all that others express was going on at this very moment with my family and I. I was embarrassed only becuase my wife and I invited our friend to eat there . I felt bad because I choose the place blindly. So I felt responsible .
