Patty Melt on sourdough with fries
    Dean E.

Tonight I ordered take out from this location; an Original Big Boy Combo and a Patty Melt on sourdough. The burger bun was so wet that it disintegrated while eating it, and the burger fell apart. As you can see from the photo, the patty melt was a disgrace - it was dry and had nothing on it. Needless to say, we couldn't finish the food. The owner, manager, and chefs should be embarrassed. Where is your pride for serving good quality food? This will likely be the last time we order from here, which is a shame because it used to be so good.

Can you believe that Bob's is 90 years old? I have such fond memories of going to Bob's after Friday night football games while in high school. This location is close to work and attracts a diverse bunch of customers. Families & older men dining solo tend to dominate. I've been here when they are playing Golden Oldies from the 50's! I've also heard 80's music...Thompson Twins anyone? Nostalgic override. I still love the classic Big Boy cheeseburger with that special RED RELISH, substitute onion rings instead of fries. Sometimes I'll get a real ice cream shake or else a root beer float. Hits the spot. It's super air conditioned - great for hot valley days - and still features classic burgundy-colored booths. Don't forget to grab a t-shirt or Bob's Big Boy coffee mug for sale at the front cash register. Flashback to simpler times for sure.

After picking up my Target orders, I finally had time to stop by this place for an early breakfast. Parking is shared with other stores, and since it was early in the morning, parking was a breeze--you can pretty much park anywhere. When I walked in, the diner was nearly empty; you could literally count how many people were eating inside. The menu is pretty basic, nothing too exciting. Unfortunately, the food I ordered was just meh--nothing memorable. There was only one server working, but she did a great job keeping my coffee filled and checking in when needed. The interior definitely shows its age--peeling booths and worn furniture--but I guess that's part of the old-school diner nostalgia.

    Fish and Shrimp Dinner

I have not been at Bobs Big Boy since I was a little girl they have a big menu and the food is very reasonable. I ordered the fish and shrimp but it was just OK because my fish was full of batter and I did not care for the batter taste on the shrimp. It was different than the fish batter. My mom ordered fried chicken and she loved it. Service was excellent. The place had a nice old-fashioned Metro diner vibe. The prices are unbelievable for all the food and sides you get. Easy parking in front.

I'll make this short and sweet, if that's even possible for me. Many years later, I found myself here again, at one of the few remaining Bob's Big Boys and the second of two in L.A.'s San Fernando Valley. I noticed a few things on my last visit. I'll start out with what could use some improvement. The cashier was a little frosty. The interior is looking a little more worn, but isn't everything else in SoCal, including the housing stock in this immediate area, which once upon a time used to look "modern?" I'll now move on to what was good. The Big Boy double decker burger was better than how I described the one in my last review - it was nicely cooked and better presented. I was very satisfied with my lunch here. The waitress (can we say that in the New Millennium?) was very nice and spirited, meaning a good brand of sassy. I also appreciate that this double decker burger combination keeps on keeping on. Okay, this Northridge Big Boy location does not look like the iconic stand-alone one in Burbank, but there will also be less fanfare and it will be a more low key experience. I should just be thankful that there are are still a few Bob's Big Boy restaurants in the Southland. So, in my estimation, the important things - the food and the service - raise this location to 4 stars.

This is a newer Bob's Big Boy and not your dad's era. Located southwest of Northridge Shopping Center, it is located on the east side of Corbin and can't be missed. My go to Big Boy Combination was good but not great, as they forgot my request for a side of ranch for the fries. I've to the Burbank and Downey locations recently and feel this location is not as good as the others. Another item I ordered was the Country Fried Steak, which was okay, but forgot the bread. Probably more attention to detail is needed to improve to go experience...

    Chili size
    Larry O.

The chili size--an open faced hamburger covered with chili and cheese--used to be fairly common in American diners, but not so much anymore. We tried the chili size at Bob's Big Boy, and it was delicious, the best I've ever had. The chili was not spicy, and I like spicy, but still I wouldn't change anything about it. The top of the bun was a thick slice of bread, grilled with cheese, crunchy and cut diagonally. They didn't scrimp on the chili, and it was so filling, I regretted ordering the onion rings. I'll go back again. And again.

    Patty Melt Combo 10/10

I still really like this place due to the fact I have been many many times and most of their food options are delicious. However their chili was just not good at all. It was watery, flavorless, and I did not enjoy the tons of raw onion on top. I do not recommend getting this item, their burgers and fried chicken is way better. Service is amazing, the sweetest people, very accommodating without complaint, friendly and fast, I like the location because it's right next to target haha and kohls. Overall I do like this place I just think that one menu item was not very good.

We almost didn't go in after reading some reviews. I'm so glad we did! Our memories growing up eating at Bob's Big Boy from the 70"s were great. First off on the Door was a A from an inspection. We walked in and 3 different workers greeted us with smiles and welcomed us. The place was clean. Laid back atmosphere. Lots of history on the walls. Big dinning room. Only 4 other people were there. In the back there was a round table with elderly women playing cards. They got up after while moved to a new table to eat, then went back to finish their game. It made me smile most restaurants want you in and out quickly. The food was really good. I had the good old fashion Bob's combo. It came with a salad and fries. The salad was fresh and the thousand island dressing, it was the thick old fashion kind. The fries I normally would pass on but these were cooked just right and a side of really good buttermilk ranch. The burger was perfectly cooked with the special sauce. It was way too much food so of course I had a to go box. My husband had the French dip. He said it was just like he remembered as a kid. He also enjoyed his salad and fries. He never uses ranch on his fries but he tasted mine and was sold. He also ordered an Orange Creamsicle shake and it was soo good. They use real ice cream, whipped cream and a cherry on top. It comes with the old fashion metal cup so there's plenty. So glad we went in. We figured we could always walk out if it was dirty. It was clean and the wait staff were all very helpful and happy. Clean bathrooms. Our bill was about $40. It was a great walk down memory lane. Too bad Bob's is closed in our town. Great diner food.

Came here on a Monday around 4pm. The place was pretty empty, but service was a little slow. There were only 2 servers at this time. The place does feel dated and old as the booth I was seated at, you can see that the upholstery was worn out and had tears in them. I ended up ordering the fried chicken dinner. You get 2 sides and a salad with this. I ordered the onion rings and mashed potatoes for my 2 sides. The food actually came out faster than I thought it would. Most likely because it was empty. The fried chicken had a thick coating on it, but it was seasoned well. You get 4 pieces, but the pieces are on the smaller side. I would have like more meat on the chicken to be honest. The mashed potatoes come with country gravy. The gravy was pepper forward, but was good. The onion rings were probably frozen. Overall, the food was decent, but not the best fried chicken I've had. The chicken from Country Deli is way better better than at Bob's.

Absolutely huge burger and I took out a fork to eat it. The root beer tasted perfect and the fries didn't need seasoning at all. By the way the bbq sauce made the meal 10/10. Came here on 14th of May 2025 and I was greeted right away. The host sat me and told me the waitress will take your order. She made me feel special. She took time to make eye contact. She was extremely friendly and every request I asked her for she did it and was very polite.

We came here because we were craving Bobs Breakfast. Sadly it's not the same as the one in Burbank. It was just ok. Place was empty around 9am. Service was Great and attentive but food was missing a Je ne sais quoi, but for the price it fills the craving

We used to have a Bob's BB in Oxnard when I was a kid and my family went 2-3x/week (every family has their place, and that was ours). It closed down and I was left heartbroken. I've been wanting to relive Bob's forever and today was my chance... at least I thought. We stood in the front for a while before being sat. Noticed the inside was dingy, could use a deep cleaning I'm sure. Waitress came by: no greeting, no smile, just "are you ready to order?" Wanted to get a few things a la carte but I was told no. We ordered a club sandwich to split and a vanilla shake. There were two tables in the restaurant and the fries were cold. Do restaurants really think customers don't notice this?! Club was just meh, nothing special. Chocolate fudge cake is now half the portion and served in a bowl?! Fudge was lukewarm warm, just a bummer all around. Best experience was getting a pic with Bob outside but I hope they do something to refurb him. I'm going to try Bob's in Burbank soon in hopes of a better experience.

On that visit, I met Joyce the owner, and she happily served me my meal that day, and I had an exceptional experience. I left Joyce's coffee shop a very satisfied five star review later that day. The last time I came, Joyce was not present again (she works weekends). Today I tried to visit Joyce again, but forgot she works weekends--but today I met Ms. Faith. Faith's customer service was above and beyond. The warmth. The friendliness. The pride in her work and her role in the Joyce's Coffee Shop family. The joy. The most charming smile and energy. The enthusiasm. The work ethic. I wanted Faith to join me for my meal, but she never stopped working, and she had no break planned. Faith is actually a former bartender with many years of experience. She made millions of dollars in tips over the years, because all the drunks would fall in love and hand their wallets over to Faith. She was great at what she did. Patrons would go to her bar, sit down, and blackout just because they were there to chat with Faith for as long as possible. Of course they couldn't just sit there--so they'd just order drink after drink. And drink. And tip. And then ATM. And then more drinks with Faith. Tips tips tips. Faith made millions as a bartender (that's how she bought her Bentley coupe). As a bartender, she even got a 3 wedding proposals, and 4 "modeling" offers . And Faith LEFT the money and the fame--once she discovered Joyce's Coffee Shop. Faith knew she wanted to be in that warm, friendly and welcoming atmosphere--as often as possible. Faith applied for work at Joyce's, then followed-up daily with Joyce's for 2 weeks--and ultimately earned herself a spot on Team JCS. The food was 5-stars--as always. It's as goods as eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes and hot coffee get. The environment was another 5-stars--always clean, always welcoming and always playing carefully curated playlists of yesterday's biggest hits. Joyce's Coffee Shop has been in business since 1955, and they've done such a great job of not only preserving the original dining room setup and upholstery, but also the original owner's commitment and dedication to great food in a welcoming environment--produced and served by the best customer service. And sitting in Joyce's Coffee Shop is like sitting in a blast from the past. It's classic. It's retro. It's vintage. It's well-preserved. Joyce's Coffee Shop is part of San Fernando Valley history. It's kinda like a Valley historical landmark. It's definitely a San Fernando Valley treasure. It's on its 4th owner, and it was never sold to a new owner that wasn't fully committed to the original owner's original mission. The diner mission of "as good as it gets," and "keeping it that way"--I love that. All staff is warm, friendly and welcoming. Even the customers are warm, friendly and welcoming--they all seem to know exactly where they are, and thats why they are there. Have you ever watched the classic TV show "Cheers"? That show about a bar where everybody knows your name? Just like that TV bar, Joyce's gives that "local feel"--the best feel. You'll never get that at Denny's, IHOP or Norms. I live in Woodland Hills so I'm rarely in Northridge, but if I am around in the AM or lunchtime -- I hope to visit again. Food -- 5 stars (I'm still stuffed) Environment -- 5 Stars (clean & cool) Service -- 5 [hearts on fire emoji] 5 stars -- (only because I can't give 6) PS: I forgot to mention that Mrs. Joyce's husband Mr. Joyce is the head chef at JCS. I forgot to mention this because I have yet to meet Mr. Joyce--but I guess Mr. Joyce's reputation will precede him in my case, (that's if I ever even get a chance to meet Mr. Joyce). Not only is Mr. Joyce the head chef, he's there 7 days a week, making somebody's love-made food. And for anyone that could not connect these dots: he doesn't work 7 days a week because he has to. Mr. Joyce works 7 days a week because there's nothing he would rather be doing, than preparing someone's great food with total care, at a business that's known for customers leaving with huge smiles for many decades. Nothing makes Mr. Joyce happier than ensuring everything coming out of JCS is "5 Star Quality"--as good as it could possibly get. He does it because the San Fernando Valley is lucky to have Joyce's Coffee Shop. 5 STARS.

Ricardo insisted it would fit and it did PERFECTLY.

I had an appointment in the neighborhood, so we decided to stop by afterward. From the moment we walked through the door, we were greeted right away and made to feel like we were regulars. We got to pick our own table and once we did, someone stopped by right away to give us menus and take our drink orders. The menu is big and we let our server know it was our first time visiting. There is so much to choose from, so we needed a couple of minutes to see all the options. It was finally between a couple of things for us, and we asked for recommendations. I was told that the hollandaise sauce on the benedicts was really good, and I decided to go with the Irish Benedict, which had corned beef hash. It was delicious and the poached eggs were perfectly cooked! The home fries were so good...crunchy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. I loved the various memorabilia on the walls, especially everything related to Coach John Wooden. Several years ago, I had a chance to meet Coach, and he holds a special place in my heart. The overall vibe at the restaurant was friendly and welcoming. The service was attentive and friendly. The food was top-notch coffee shop cuisine. We loved meeting Paul, who was very kind. I would love to go back and try some of the lunch and Chinese options. We had parked on the street but were told that they validate in the parking area behind the restaurant. We'll keep that in mind for our next visit.

The decor is exactly what you'd expect (and exactly what you want) from a neighborhood coffee shop: formica tables, padded chairs and booths, aging photos on the walls, and lively music playing on the radio. It was bustling at lunchtime on a Thursday, but not crazy busy (as on many weekend mornings), so I was seated immediately. The menu boasts a fairly large selection of options, from the usual breakfast items to sandwiches and burgers, daily specials, and those aforementioned muffins (which you can get instead of toast with your breakfast if you like). Today, I opted for their Spicy Louisiana Hot Link with eggs, grits and toast. It was a very generous portion of food for $16.95, and I appreciate how they've manage to keep their prices reasonable. The eggs were a proper over-medium, and the grits were both hot and creamy. The side of butter melted easily into the porridge, which, when salted and peppered, made for a satisfying and savory bite. The sausage was split and grilled, showing off a nice char; they were spicy, as advertised, but not overly powerful, and they paired very well with the warm, creamy egg yolk. Rye toast was full of caraway flavor, and really shone when topped with butter and a generous slather of Nat's house-made Apricot Jam (packed with fruit flavor without being too sweet). Yes, Nat's remains a solid, satisfying spot for breakfast and lunch. And though parking can sometimes be a challenge, I find the food is well worth the effort.
