The clean and organized interior of the restaurant

Thank you to every staff member here especially my server Alex A who took excellent care of me this evening when I walked in here starving for some good food. This has been my second visit here and I must rate a five not just because of the attentive and friendly service but because the food here is delicious. I would call this diner/comfort food that is extremely filling and hits the spot to satiate your cravings. If you are 55 and older there are some extremely affordable and tasty food options on the menu. Certain side dishes are only available before 11pm but there is still a large variety of sides to accompany your meal. The first visit here I got a simple hamburger with refillable servings of rootbeer and tonight I was craving a chicken fried breaded steak with garlic toast, broccoli and grilled red potatoes which was very filling and tasty. When you order certain entrees two sides and garlic toast is included. Mashed potatoes and mac n cheese are only available before 11pm so the menu can vary depending upon what time you arrive for a meal. Prices here are low to moderate and the food is generously portioned. I received two separate chicken fried steaks with gravy on top so my dog got the second portion I couldn't possibly finish. If you want good service, reliably good tasting food in a casual, comfortable and non fussy environment this 24/7 Denny's won't disappoint. Maybe next time i will just come here for a dessert

This is a typical Denny's with a good size menu that now is getting rather pricey. For example, they have burgers that are over $15. Also note that several of the side items for dinner menu items have up charges that are not immediately visible.

Located on the corner of Rand Road and Dundee, Denny's has been a staple in this neighborhood for years. I haven't been to D's in a while and when I walked in and looked around, it felt like they never quite recovered from the pandemic. --The customers (1/5) were scarce. I only saw two other customers in the 20 minutes I was there. --The booths (1/5) were still set up for social distancing. --The host (4/5) was also my waiter. I'm not 100% sure, but he might've cooked my meal too : ) --Everyday Value Slam (3/5) includes 3 eggs, 1 bacon, 1 sausage, 2 pancakes. Pretty much what you would expect from your typical diner. Nothing fancy.

Always crowded. Staff is typically pretty good. Occasionally it is not that way. But the food is good and reasonable.

Way understaffed. Food came out slow. Honey mustard was great. Quesadilla sucked. All tortilla. No cheese.

Chappie's was a random pick for us to go have brunch at while we were in the Palatine area. Chappie's had been on my list of brunch restaurants to check out. When we got to the restaurant it was peak lunch time and the restaurant was almost 3/4 full. We got seated promptly. We took our time to look at their menu and decide as they had a good menu variety. We ordered drinks in the meantime. I got a regular coffee and a Chappieccino (cappuccino w/ Chappie's face, Chappie being their family dog, a Corgie). We ordered a Bacado Omelet w/ a side of pumpkin spice pancakes instead of regular pancakes and hashbrowns, a Huevos Rancheros, and a special of 2 Eggs x 2 Pancakes x 2 Sausage links (instead of bacon). I had the Bacado Omelet which had bacon, avocado, scallions, cheese, and I asked for chopped jalapeños which did not have an up charge. The omelet was good. I liked the way it was cooked. The hash browns were cooked to perfection. They were exactly the way I like them, crispy and soft. They also have me a fried green chili pepper (Chile Toreado) on the side which added a nice spicy taste. The specialty pumpkin spice pancakes with pumpkin puree whipped cream was really delicious. I loved its taste. The Huevos Rancheros was the best dish at the table. It was perfectly cooked with two fried corn tortillas, eggs over easy, fried beans, red salsa, and cheese. It tasted great. I liked it more than my dish. The special of 2 Eggs x 2 Pancakes x 2 sausage links was tasty as well. We had a good experience and would go back. Definitely recommended. Check it out.

They just don't seem like they want to be there, and it is just a bit off putting. Having said that, we do occasionally still stop by. We have ventured out to try stuff that's NOT waffles. The kids liked the small quesadillas i think-- not greasy and nice plain flavors, easy to please the kids. My oldest really liked the tuna melt and it was good, and generous portions. Easy to split with the other kids. The ironman in comparison is so tiny and not worth the price-- which is really just paying for the "health" aspect of it. I get it. Overall, the foods are still really good, we just don't really like having to gamble with who our server is that day!

I'm originally from the PNW (Seattle). Moved to SoCal 35 years back then to Chicagoland almost 3…read moreyears ago. Loved Village Inn. And even SoCal had a few until they almost all petered out. And Baker's Square closed YEARS ago in SoCal. Missed their pies and baked goods! So imagine my (pleasant) surprise when I found this little place in Palatine! I decided to head there for a brekky on a cool May morning. Stepped in, saw all the breads, pastries, and pies along the front counters- wow. I was greeted warmly and seated instantly. My waitress came right away, and I ordered unleaded (decaf for those in the know). It came in a little pot, ala IHOP, and was really, really GOOD. Wow. Decaf has come a long ways from the Sanka days! I ordered the INN-CREDIBLE V.I.B. which allowed me to order 4 yummy items of my choice - I chose the french toast (yummy and spiced just right albeit w/room temp syrup- not a deal-breaker but notable), a strawberry crepe (totally awesome strawberries, but the crepe was a bit colder than expected); scrambled eggs (always a nice stalwart) and two turkey sausage links (as with the frenchie above, nicely flavored!). The ambience was modern, updated, and felt welcoming and (thankfully) a bit familiar. Brought back some good ol' memories even if only the Baker's Square part of the menu was just pies nowadays. But the Village Inn lives on! And that counts - and I'll return. You should check it out too if you enjoy a good brekky at a classic American diner!

Overall it is cheerful and comfortable but the air conditioning was cranked up a little too much making me want to leave as soon as possible. The service was friendly and attentive although we were seated next to the kitchen so we overheard many of the staff's comments as they were going in and out of the kitchen. One of the waitstaff was clearly counting down the three hours left on his shift. The food was okay. While reviewing the menu you'll like notice the low prices. While that was nice to see you do get what you pay for. For 13 dollars and change I got the VIB breakfast where you pick four items from a few different categories. I chose scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, bacon and half a waffle. The portions were small and most of the food likely only needed to be reheated to be served. We are glad we gave Village Inn a try but will likely opt for a different place next time.
