T-bone steak and eggs breakfast. Toast was not pictured.

Overall rating 3 1/2 stars. Food was a good value for the price. I placed an order over the phone, and the food was ready for pick up in less than 15 minutes. The restaurant looks very nice and lovely. Appears clean and well organized. The hostess that checked me out to pay my bill was very helpful and the order was accurate with all of the cutlery napkins And desired sauces. The turkey and dressing meal looked nice, we may partake in coming back to give that a whirl.

First of all, I absolutely LOVE Dennys restaurants. I usually seek them out for a Grand Slam breakfast, solid (and consistent) coffee, and a gluten-free english muffin. The ambiance for a diner is like, wow. There is a fireplace (yeah, a freaking fireplace) and murals on the walls of the Poulsbo waterfront. The interior is all wood themed, and sorta reminded me of the inside of a ship. So very northwest! The food was GREAT and fast. They were out of gluten-free English muffins, so I knocked a star off, but truthfully, that is just me being picky. The server was super sweet and very attentive. She was a SUPER hard worker and was even hoping in the back to help in the kitchen. Our experience started with a smile, and the server kept our cups of coffee filled. This was overall a great diner experience, and yeah, it's Dennys, so you know I will be back!

a breakfast of pancakes, eggs, bacon and sausage

Denny is a long-time staple for many of us. I had been going to Denny's for decades, and I always loved their pancakes in particular. In fact, it was the Grand Slam that was my favorite meal at Denny's.  In my younger days, I enjoyed the array of finger foods and midnight snack "quasi meals" after partying all night on the weekends and whenever else I could.  Anyway, it was interesting to realize that Denny's was going to be coming to Poulsbo.   Before the doors opened, there were a number of people who were poo pooing the idea that a Denny's would take over the newly vacant building. I think it was a smart move on the Denny's corporation part to put its restaurant there, as evidenced by me driving by just after the opening day and seeing so many people waiting in line to get in. I finally went for breakfast early in the morning a few days ago. There were just a few people in the restaurant. It was that early.  The best part about Denny's is that it is exactly what you expect as far as the look  feel and general ambiance.   The restaurant was clean and looked and smelled new.  The hosts and servers were attentive.  The only issue is that their technology wasn't working, and the checkout process took a really long time.  I wasn't exactly happy with that because I had to get my car to Bremerton for a service.  Their computer failure was chewing into my ability to get to the auto center on time.It truly required a bit of patience on my part, but we got through it.  Hey, what happened to the portion sizes at Denny's? I remember the pancakes were bigger and fluffier than the little pancakes that came with my meal. Seriously, they were really small compared to what Denny's used to put out for their Grand Slam breakfast. That was my first disappointment.  The eggs were fine.  Typical, slightly watery eggs, but they were OK. There are no other issues with them. The bacon was cooked well, but I got two small pieces.  It was almost as if they had cut a single  strip of bacon in half, giving me one piece of bacon instead of two.  I ordered ham because you could order items in the build your own Slam.  So I figured two of each: Bacon, ham, pancakes, and eggs would be my meal. Gosh, I missed the part that they were charging extra for the ham even though it was on the menu to build your Grand Slam. I was really shocked by the extra cost not because of how much it was but because it had the nerve to be on my tab.  I give Denny's an average rating primarily because they have shrunk the size of the pancakes, which, by the way, are still very tasty.  See, tasty but small and pricey, was a bit of salt in the wound. In summary, the bacon and pancakes were quite chensy in terms of portions. Otherwise, I say kudos to the staff. It's amazing that Denny's is in this town for a good and well-known breakfast spot that people recognize from all around the nation.  I am confident that when I have people coming visit, I can say:  Let's go to Denny's,  even in a town this small.

I thought the items we grabbed were excessively sweet. Keeping an open mind that they offer a larger variety of pastries and goods I didn't try but my visit felt just average. While not overly impressed, I can appreciate a solid spot with fresh donuts and pastries managing high traffic. Line tends to be long but moves at a moderate speed, as the employees are open to chatting. Large Butterhorn - excessively sweet to a point where I felt sick of sugar because it's also pretty big. I personally would rather eat a fluffy donut because this felt more like a condensed block of sugar, but seems to be a favorite for others. Might just not be for me. Swedish Almond Pastry - while this was also super sweet, the almond flavor was able to pop out at times. Sliced almonds on top helped sprinkle some extra flavor but were ultimately consumed by the sweetness. A little flakier in texture which helped dissociate with the dense sugar block.

Same size cup, which is very odd to be charging If someone's looking at their receipt and asking questions, it's gonna slow the line down and probably add stress for the cashier as well as possible negative energy Just sharing the data points I think they should streamline this. I like that they don't want to waste, but at least almost everybody even who's drinking inside has plastic so it's a little confusing. If you ask for a glass of water, they will charge you a dollar but if you get it in glass and drink while you're on site, there is no charge Again, I appreciate that they are trying to reduce plastic for the to go water, but doesn't make any sense to me because I'm seeing plastic drinks inside the restaurant Also, I asked if I got a ice latte if it came in a bigger cup because otherwise you're getting less of a latte. A lot of places give you a bigger cup for 12 ounce latte since they're adding an ice but they don't do that here. Mocha was not hot. Coffee was so so. Barista was great. Cashier a bit annoyed with the questions. But I can understand her position especially as line begins.

Unfortunately, the service really took away from the experience. Our server, Jennifer Burnett, was noticeably warm and attentive to another group nearby, but with us, the service felt dismissive and disengaged. For example, my husband ordered an Aperol spritz, and when they were out, we substituted Campari--but what arrived resembled a raspberry sparkling water, not even close to what Campari tastes like. When we brought it up, the response felt very brushed off. It's disappointing because the setting and food have so much potential, but service matters. I'd recommend spending your money elsewhere in Poulsbo--there are plenty of great spots along the main strip that offer both good food and a better overall experience.

All hard surfaces, so I need to let you know that the place is a bit noisy. It wasn't full and we had trouble hearing each other across the table. They have a full menu for brunch and prices range from around $16 for "the usual" of eggs, bacon, and roasted potatoes to $25-30 for fancier plates. Note that toast was a side with extra charge.
