Where to begin with this place!! And I didn't even end up eating here that's how bad it was. We entered we were told by a young girl that it would be a minute as she cleans off a table that was no longer in use. In the middle of her cleaning the table we over hear the manager tell her not to seat anyone else and tell people that the wait time would be 30 to 35 minutes. Which is weird since there was three open tables. As we were sitting in the waiting area, I noticed the managers family had arrived after us and another party of 3. The only reason I know it was his family is because he went up to the older woman and asked for his wallet since he had left it at home. I start to get upset at the fact that no one has come up to my party and the other party of 3 to confirm that the wait time. I ask the same girl if we were going to get the table or not? She kind of looked nervous sitting us so I sat for about 30 seconds and realize if they can't get the sitting done correctly what hope is there for the service. I left to find another Denny's. While his family was already seated enjoying their drinks. Horrible service. Keep away from this Denny's!! read more

I like Denny's. Some weeks we eat at Denny's 2 or 3 times. Until we moved to south county, that is, and found ourselves at this franchise. Servers are overworked and therefore slow and inaccurate. They got my order wrong and burnt my companion's steak, which arrived well after my order. By the time they replaced it, I had long finished. Waited for every drink refill. Take my advice: keep driving. read more

I enjoy going to Denny's with friends. I appreciate the multiple options with the Build your own Gland Slam, but the Denny's off Pico in San Clemente is the worst. My waiter gave me rotten fruit and was making out with his girlfriend where I COULD SEE THEM! So disrespectful and unprofessional. Never going back here. Very disappointed. read more

Delivery order: the food is always delicious so I was excited they delivered! Food was good for it being delivered. However, they didn't read the special instructions such as no lettuce or pickles. We also requested a side of mayo and salsa but that wasn't given that. 3 stars because they couldn't follow simple instructions. read more

It took us 5 minutes to get seated, which would be ok if the place were packed. I only see 2 waiters so I dont know if that's the norm at this time. We were told to sit in a table where we waited for 11 minutes till we were actually given a menu. The food was good, warm no complaints there. The waiter seemed like he is having a bad day. If I could give this place zero stars I would. We were driving home to San Diego from Disneyland at around 12-1am. We arrived and they took forever to seat us, I never waited that long at any place before, and the place was literally empty. When they finally sat us our waitress only gave us the menus no utensils. They took 20 minutes to take our order, and another 10 minutes to bring our water and coffee, and like 15 minutes more to bring our food. We had ordered buffalo chicken wraps, and they waiter brought buffalo chicken strips with a side order of fries. Not what we had ordered, we told the waitress that it was not what we ordered. She only offered to make another order. But considering how long they took to bring our food we ate it anyways. To make things worst they actually charged us for her mistake. Worst service ever. I know this place has low ratings, but I've never had a problem here. Speaking of Denny's generally, the value menu cannot be beat. Two people can have coffee and breakfast for under $20 at a sit-down restaurant. Can't beat that. As far as this location and my experience here, I've never had a problem. Staff is always nice and service is great. From time to time it can be crowded, but that's normal. Usually my go to spot after surfing, it's here or La Tiendita. read more

I love this location; I stop here all the time if I'm on my way up north on the I-5. Their service is great; they are attentive when getting your order in and the food comes out fast. I enjoy getting their different selection of pancakes as well as ordering off their 4,6,8 menu. read more

I've bern going to this Denny's on Pico since 2004. It's always been pretty good but has really inproved since the remodel. The menu is much better too. I know around 20 people that frequent this Denny's and they all have nothing but good things to say about the wait staff, food and cleaniless. They have some new menu items including a chorizo plate that's awesome! I have always been treated super nice here.. I hope you get the Denny's sign fixed soon. Almost all the lights are out and can't be seen by the freeway very well now. read more

Decided to leave after waiting 15 min for service. Seated quickly but wait staff ignored even after asking for help.

Only have been here a few times and it's always busy but we get seated within a couple minutes and service is pretty good. Food is always great. Can't say anything bad about it. I would recommend this Denny's read more

We were on our way to San Diego and decided to stop at our favorite breakfast place, Denny's. We have been to many Denny's Restaurant, but this was the worst. Here is why: We were seated, I asked for two booster seats for my kids. The server quickly brought them over, but had not cared to wipe them down. They were sticky from pancake syrup and were stained with dried milk spots. I didn't make a fuss. I took out a wipie and wiped both booster seats myself. Our server took our order and i ordered a grand slam. When the server brought out my plate there was a big slice of grilled ham on my plate. I quickly told the server that I didn't order ham..he said yes he knew but the kitchen made a mistake and I could have it any way. UUUUMMM, problem is that I don't eat ham.... so he took the ham off of my plate...the grease remained..yuck...then our hash browns came on a separate plate..and they were so fried on both sides..almost burnt and again super greasy..at this point i told the server to please make me new hash browns. Our experience was not good here....we will not give up on Denny's....but we will give up this location. read more

Worst Denny's experience. I ordered on the phone, they said 10 mins it will be ready, I showed up had to wait additional 10 mins for the food. Total 30mins and the patty was disgusting soggy and fries were over cooked. I took it back and didn't want to wait longer for them to make it again. They won't give my money back and kept insisting on making it again and said will be three mins. The guy was nice enough to bring it out to me but the patty was worse than before it was all broken in multiple pieces too. When youre hungry and on the road working, it works in a pinch for a quick bite. I dont get all the bad reviews here. The staff was nice and the quality of food is what youd expect from this joint. I thought my waiter was really nice, but thought cashier was a little weak in her approach to try to "see how I was doing" and then attempt to upsell me some dessert. LOL read more

After a long day at SeaWorld this was a great way to end the day. The t-bone steak with fried shrimp was delicious, and the new chocolate peanutbutter pie with whipped cream really hit the spot. I love this as a pit stop from LA to San Diego. The bathrooms are always clean, service is good, and the parking lot always has space. If you've never been you must know when getting off on Ave Pico from the 5 south you make a right, then an immediate right into the first driveway. It's very easy to miss, especially when driving at night. Another plus is ease of access on & off the freeway. That's what makes it a great pit stop. read more

We were camping at San Clemente and decided on a nice all American breakfast. The parking lot is small especially since we were driving a big diesel truck. Walking through the front door is like walking through a doorway to the 1970's. I was pretty skeptical until our waitress Laura approached. She was very hospitable. She gave our 3 year old a double portion of crayons and a coloring book. The food came, up to par with Denny's. Laura took good care of us and made it a great breakfast experience. read more

Been here many many times. Laura is the best waiter, she's the reason I keep coming back all these years. Her smile and energy is contagious and you can't help but hug her. I've never had a bad meal here, I don't understand the other reviews saying it's crap. First off, it's dennys. Don't expect a 5 star meal. For a quick hot breakfast that is delicious. I woke up with a massive hangover and dying for some choccy milk and wawa. Had to wait like 10 minutes to get my name on the 10 minute wait list just because Jorge didn't bus the 8 open tables. Still vibed by the door and I noticed this really cute girl by the register. Can't tell if she's Italian or from Mexíco. Then Erik gave gave me a half smile and we finally got to sit down. I ordered my meal through Grubhub and my order was wrong when I opened it. I called Danny's and the store manager Claimed that it was a Grubhub's responsibility to check my order. That made no sense to me because why would a delivery service handle food when they are not a food handling service. They are only the drivers not the people that make the food or the people that package the food. The store manager refuse to take responsibility. Kept blaming the delivery service for the incorrect order. When I called a delivery service so they can re-order my order and get it delivered the delivery service told me that the restaurant refused to make my order. The delivery service told me that the same woman who is the store manager refuse to do my order. They also claimed that she was very rude to them and she hung up on me while we were trying to figure this whole situation out. This Denny's was filled with locals on a Sunday morning. It's right next to the freeway in some old industrial areas and it stunk outside. Despite the stink outside, the crowds inside gave me hope. The first problem was my wife's clean spoon had a bunch of gunk on it which she did not see when she stirred it into her coffee and then licked off the spoon. Gross, yes, but that can happen anywhere. She got a new cup of coffee and a new spoon. When our food finally came, hers was cold. Eggs, pancakes and bacon were cold. Apparently it was put under a cooling lamp, not a heat lamp. She had to send it back. We made the mistake of coming here without reading reviews, but now you don't have to make that mistake. read more
