This is by far the worst Denny's ever. We went there on 12/07/14 because it was the closest Denny's to our hotel and it was a bad choice. The inside smelled bad but we were hungry so we decided to stay. The bathroom floor was dirty, the bathroom walls were dirty, the toilet was nasty and there were no seat covers. (I didn't let my 8 year old daughter use the restroom because of how nasty it was). We ordered a pitcher of OJ and it was warm, we had to get ice in order to drink it. I ordered a lumber jack with wheat toast. I received white toast, I returned it and received burnt wheat toast in return. I returned it again and ask for fruit instead and they gave me grapes. My husband's food was cold and my daughter said her food tasted bad. The waitress was nice though. They still had some Halloween decorations. We will never go there again. read more

Came at 11 pm and it's Sunday before Christmas. Was greeted by the manager when we walked in, which you don't see everywhere, and were seated right away. I ordered some Burgers and Salads today for me and my girl from Dennys in Van Nuys and I got foood poison. I've ate a different Dennys before and I've always been fine, but this time I had a burger from the one in Van Nuys and not only me but my girl's stomach was feeling weird too. It was the worse I was sweating and felt horrible and like it wasn't going to go away. Well right now as I am writing this review I still feel the pain in my stomach but not as much as in the morning time when I was sweating. Its Denny's, you get what you pay for, Breakfast is decent, or the club sandwich. Other than that, I do not here very often. Service is pretty friendly, and parking is good. Whatever you do, do not come on graduation day, I walked out the wait was so long, even after waiting 15 mins, I still had about 40 mins more to wait. For me, Denny's is an irresistible restaurant (not to mention the nearest where I live). I've been going to the place for the past 20+ years and the customer service and food is always great when I'm there. It's even been a great and satisfying experience for my family. The two stars is for the hostess and my burger wasn't bad apart from the fact that I ordered a mushroom burger and it took them 30 mins to tell me they were out of mushrooms. It's funny how the food came out right after that though. The fact that it took 30 mins to get two burgers when hardly anyone was there is also funny. I'm being sarcastic as I am not really laughing. One more thing...the mumbling waiter needs a lesson on how to speak clearly and loud enough for customers to hear as he does work in the part of food service industry that has to deal with PEOPLE. I was not to sure what to rate this place because our server was great and felt for her but the manager and the way its run was not acceptable! I recently visited this location on Friday Night, and the server was great and went out of her way to best help serve us, but it was difficult for her as I could tell, due to the fact that it seemed she was the only one serving everyone one! I don't know if the location was short staffed, but she had way too many tables compared to all the other waiters. The young gentlemen who rung me up when I payed for my food did mention that the staff did not get along that's why their was so much chaos! Also, that the manager did not do anything. From what I can see when I was at this location, the manger was not doing anything in fact! This guy was just standing behind the cash register instead of communicating to the servers what to do and who should do what! I will not be returning to this location. I feel like the manager did not know how to run a place like a manger should. Of all the Denny's I've been through, Denny's of Van Nuys is by far, my most favorite one. Exactly of what we call, a warm typical American cafe. Here's what I like: 1. The price. Besides the $2, 4, 6, 8 value menu, sometimes I receive thru the mail coupons, which further saves money & makes customers like me happy. Plus, poor customers get to experience what restaurant is like. 2. For food, here are my top suggested foods: #1. the burgers, very juicy; definitely can defeat fast food burgers anyday, they are the typical average American backyard BBQ burger--similar to homemade. #2 the soups, especially the clam chouders and other potato chouder like soups; very nice & creamy. #3 the steaks, good size meats (though minor fix, please read my "suggested improvements" below), good side dishes like mash potatoes or french fries. #4 the fish, also good size but some minor fix-up (please read suggested improvements below). 3. Ok service. 4. Clean dining place. 5. Spacious parking. Now, I do have some "suggested comments" below to help further enhance your business: 1. Your steak & fish. They're sometimes a bit too dry or too burnt. Try marinating more to keep the steak or fish nice & moist as well as tender & it'll probably taste better. 2. If I could rate this place -zero. I would. This is the second time I watched my husband eat his food for 15 minutes without being served mine. Worst service ever! It took a long time for us to get our food . When we did it only 2 of us got the food . Which we send one of the orders back 2x because it was wrong. I got upset because we were still waiting on the food to the point that I got up and asked what was going on? When I did ask for it the gentleman that was helping the waitress serve said " well I asked if that was all you needed" . My thing is you see 2 other people there without food. It's common sense that we're still missing the rest of our order. We were not just going to sit there and watch them eat . Don't they have our order written down ? I happened to be in the area of this Denny's restaurant and decided to stop in for breakfast. I was greeted kindly and seated promptly. My beverage was delivered quickly and the server was friendly. After ordering my breakfast, the food was delivered within 6 minutes. I enjoyed the meal with nothing bad to note. All in all, this was a good visit. I work across the street and this Denny's has always been extremely kind to us. We had a large to-go order earlier this year for a meeting and the manager, Pablo, took the time to put in very complicated orders with me for our 20 attendees. The staff packaged everything nicely and there were no complaints about the food. Today, we had an appreciation breakfast for our staff and Pablo reserved the back room for us so we could have our privacy. When I arrived, he remembered me from last time, greeted us, and brought us to the back room. Waiters/waitresses were kind and everyone enjoyed their food. Pablo kept popping into the room to check on us throughout our time there. Overall, it's always a pleasure going over there and I look forward to working with them in the future! read more

I come here for the strictly for the pancake puppies! Everything else is pretty awful. I used to eat here a lot in my younger days but I would have an automatic stomach ache after, no questions asked. I have even gotten food poisoning once or twice so I decided to do myself the favor of not even eating here but I will not give up the pancake puppies. They are so good! I came today in the afternoon and was greeted by a very nice waitress. She welcomed us in and immediately made us feel right at home even though things seemed quite busy. Somehow, our waitress managed to provide us with excellent service and care while also managing the another room. The food tasted better compared to the other Denny's around the area in my opinion. I came here since I had a birthday coupon. I like Denny's but don't come often. The service is never that great I think at any location. My hubby & I got the gram slam. It didn't take a long time to get our food but it took a while to get our order taken. The waitress barely checked on us and half the time we were out if water. I want to take this opportunity to compliment the Manager Pablo at the location on 16575 Sherman Way Van Nuys CA 91406, he went over and beyond his title, he took the time to make sure my order was complete, about 2 weeks ago I ordered a breakfast and the driver forgot to bring my coffee, I immediately called the restaurant and spoke with Pablo, he apologized and assured me that if in the future I order again he will make sure that my coffee will be included with my new order, well he kept his word and he made sure I had my coffee with my order. he even sent me a text to let me know that the driver was on her way with my order and also text me again to follow up that I have received my entire order. I have never experience this kind of excellent service. If I could I would give him 10 stars instead of 5. He needs to be recognized for his excellent service. When we walked up there was an older homeless gentleman that asked us to buy him a coffee. We asked the same woman (small Asian woman) on the phone to prepare a coffee to which she balked "he's already had two tonight!!!". 1st: If we are paying for it and he says he wants a coffee.... Why are you even voicing your unsolicited opinion. 2nd: we are all adults.... Your loud unnecessary comment should be saved for your children 3rd: IT WAS 45 degrees outside!!! Went to this Denny's for breakfast , big mistake. The waitress " Irlanda " repeated our order , but when it arrived it was incorrect. I pointed out I requested two pieces of bacon , not one and one sausage. She said ok I will bring you another piece of bacon. It never happened, pancakes were dry and stuck to each other. I ordered online thru dennys.com and almost 1h30 later nothing was delivered. Called in the store and the General manager was a big a**hole telling me we didn't place the order correctly, didn't choose the delivery company and that the food was sitting there and if i wanted i could just go and pick it up. But i paid for delivery just for that not to happen! If i wanted to go i would just go in the first place. It draining hard. Corporate call center was not available on a Saturday. I went there and the manager was gone and finally my food was shipped with God knows who. Waste of time. I had to escalate the whole thing to the owner of the store who was polite and willing to work things out with us. He gave us a refund and told me, who was there at the location, to wait he was gonna place a fresh order. I waited 15 min and the order came wrong! They made the wrong burger. Had to wait another 10 for it to be fixed. Talked to the general manager again and again he was an a*hole and suggested that I created this situation to get free meals from his boss? Wtf? First time at this dennys. Reviewing as im here. Ordered the alaskan Salmon, and my side veggies were cold. Told them to take it back and they just microwaved my plate. I knew this because my salmon that was already hot was extremely hot. And my lemons that was previously cold was hot. I don't ever have high expectations for Dennys but at least be reasonable and not lazy. Also the steak looked like beef jerky when ordered medium. What a nice family dinner experience. Waited 15 minutes for the server. 20 minutes for food. Sorry but probably not likely to coming back. And never apologized for any thing after we complained. Lol read more
