Wow! I could get use to a place like Denny's. I was here not too long ago having brunch before my job interview not far from here. I ordered the super slam and 2 coffees. One for myself and one for my associate. The service was professional, welcoming, and very efficient. I liked how it was getting semi busy during the time that I was there. At the end of that experience, I spent $20 before tip. I definitely like coming here on a late night to get some homework done when I am restless, as the ambiance on some late nights are more taciturn than others. The food was good and wasn't soo busy. I like the remodel and new colors. Looks much brighter. Jose the night shift leader/server has no people skills and is not leadership type. I would like to commend a specific staff member named Jose who sometimes serves and sometimes is a shift manager. I have known him for years. I've been coming here since 1997 to this Woodland Hills location off of Burbank and Topanga. Jose knows how to manage a very insanely busy restaurant without a lot of staff. Lately it seems like there are less servers, not sure if it's due to hours being cut maybe? No matter when Jose is working he keeps that positive attitude that beautiful smile on his face and everybody adores him. He is stellar and goes above and beyond for every patron that visits this location. I go to this location a lot and when he is working, I feel better from rough days. His positivity is infectious. On a Saturday morning in January, i came here to eat with friends. The place is busy of people eating breakfast at 11am. The hostess took us in the back corner. The server was nice and good at refill drinks. The only deal is 55 menu or 15% with aarp card. I got a turkey sandwich with strange looking fries. Busy Sunday brunch. Felt rushed by our server. It was crowded. Food came out luke warm, basically cold when it comes to food, so I'm sure it was just sitting in the window a while. It was also loud in there. Food is crazy overly priced. Two standard breakfast meals with crepes and french toast came to over $60 with a decent tip out of empathy. I'd get better food and even alcohol at Yardhouse for that price. French toast was tasty and crepes were just ok, over sugary. The eggs and hash browns were flavorless. Bacon super dry. Went to Denny's this morning, was busier than usual but that's to be expected on a Sunday morning. The waitress was kind but the restaurant was abnormally warm. During my meal, I detected a strong odor of marijuana. I was completely and utterly disgusted by this. Come to find out the staff tolerates and allows guests to smoke marijuana at the restaurant. Guests were using drugs on the patio and the staff did not seem to be bothered. When my food arrived it was lukewarm, and tasted like dogfood. Don't forget the outrageous prices. As if all this didn't have me upset already, I used the bathroom on the way out and had to wait 10 minutes for a stall that was occupied by two men. The entire restaurant stank and I was afraid my dog was going to have side effects due to his asthma. For those of you who don't know I cook for a living so after working on thanksgiving I wasn't about to cook. So my wife and I decided to go to Denny's for dinner. They always seem to be open and they bring back memories. My wife and I first decided to try the location on Tampa and Nordoff. We walked in and there were several people waiting at the counter. They were there to pay or to be seated. We watched several employees walk past, look at the crowd and keep on walking. After being ignored for a while we left and began to look for other locations. That's when I started to see that most Denny's have 2 or 3 stars with one exception at least in our area. This location has 4 stars and it's obvious to me why. We walked in and were seated immediately. Our server Angel was attentive and friendly. My wife and I both ordered the turkey dinner. I went with hash browns and seasoned fries for my sides. Pancakes were very good. Eggs could have been warmer, same for bacon and sausage, this comes with both. However, at $7.99 for all that, a good deal. We left full and happy. Waited a few extra minutes for a booth, but we appreciated the little bit of privacy for our conversation. Restaurant was busy, even at 11:30 AM. Burnt onion stuck to the pancakes, RAW/somewhat frozen sausage in my uncooked, still cold, hash browns that tasted rancid because the SAUSAGE THEY'RE SERVING HAD GONE BAD, weird burnt onion pancakes topped with FERMENTED strawberry topping, literally just the whole order besides the scrambled eggs was a mess, which also were covered in weird bad raw-pork grease. I'm not a fan of Dennys & I should've not come here. First off I came today and I was on the fence about coming here anyway. we got seated right away. Then we noticed it was only 1 server named, Brenda. I applaud Brenda for hustling & busting her ass despite it only her on Friday morning.. while being the only server Brenda was smiling thru it all. The cook did his thing back there in the kitchen. The food came out quickly, hot & most importantly cooked. I order turkey bacon, fruit & side hashbrown. It was cool nothing to go crazy over. I frequently order over the phone & place a pickup order at this location on most Mondays and Thursdays before 6am and never had an issue. But for some reason today the employee said he won't place an order until after 6. I had to call multiple times and when they finally answered they basically refused my service. I had to physically walk in and place my order and wait. When I asked why today was different the guy at the counter said he was by himself, but no one was dining there and it truly didn't seem like he had much else to do. I let it go until a security guard came in and went straight to the pick up station & received his food as quickly as he walked up. They obviously took his order before six because he got his food instantly and way before me with no hesitation. Not to mention he was welcomed with open arms, enraged me that they aren't giving the same service to all customers. I'm a regular as well but didn't get treated with the same respect.
