I was very pleased with the service I received from Dependable Plumbing. They were prompt and the cost seemed competitive, although I don't have a lot of experience with plumbing prices. Aaron, the plumber they sent out, was very nice and did a good job of explaining what my problem was. He completed the job quickly and (major plus) cleaned up when he was done. Also a plus is that Dependable does a lot of work in my condo complex, so they are familiar with the layout and some of the quirks of the building. Jeremy's kindness is worth noting. Grant Mize was my plumber, and he is incredible. He contacted me prior to my appointment, was on time, and walked in with the biggest smile. He immediately identified the situation, and assured me it could be fixed. He explained the different steps he would take, and the associated costs. My HOA sent them out to fix my toilet (my home warranty doesn't cover the pipes in the internal walls) that was not flushing due to a clogged pipe that was also affecting my neighbors plumbing. In June 2024 a 3" water Pressure Reducing Valve that serves half the units at Woodlands West in the La Jolla Village area failed. First we contacted another company and they temporarily got some water back to these homes until they could get the proper parts. Then they ghosted us. After wasting a week, we moved on and called Dependable who sent out a tech, created a proposal and upon HOA approval, completed the work quickly and professionally. They were recommended by my HOA. ( We won't use them again after they fix what they need to fix) My mom is elderly and has been a resident in her condo for many years. They came and did an estimate for the work that needed to be done. With a senior discount it came to 2K. Here's the main thing: Basically we weren't able to take baths because the lever to shut the drain didn't work. After they repaired it, it worked, we could take baths. Now, a few months later, it's not working again. So I called my HOA to send them out and see what was the matter. They came today and said they NEVER were told to fix those bathtubs. I saw it with my own two eyes: showing them it was broken, and then them fixing it, and yes, after they FIXED it we were able to take baths. We would have never paid them if they didn't fix that issue! So now they're lying to me and saying they never fixed it so they can make more $$$$. I told them to get out of my unit, because they're basically lying to me, to my face. Now I am waiting for their invoice to arrive to see if it's even listed on there, I bet it was conveniently left out. I don't like plumbers coming over to my unit to begin with, and let alone plumbers who are shady and lie to their customers. Do not use this company! read more

Called Dependable on Monday Feb. 15th at 4:01 PM to do multiple, less-than-urgent jobs at our condo. There was no answer so I left a message. We didn't hear back the next day but wanted to wait a little longer since this is the company that does work for our HOA and is familiar with specifics of our complex. By the end of the week, we still hadn't gotten a return call, so Dependable lost that job and we called elsewhere. That plumber answered the phone, set an appointment, showed up on time, wore a mask to reduce COVID risk, did good work, and charged a reasonable rate. Dependable still hasn't returned my call from Feb. 15th. I'll give two stars since it's possible they do decent work once they retrieve their messages, but you can decide whether you'd call them if you had urgent work to complete. (By the way, due to the HOA, I'm stuck working with this company on certain occasions. I've since asked why they never returned my call, and instead of apologizing and saying they'd do better, they questioned whether I had called the right number. My hoa hired these guys to take care of something at my apartment complex. They showed up with no warning, parked in the fire lane all day and started jack hammering the sidewalk. Their work ethic is terrible, the workers "work" for about half an hour, using the jackhammer and then stop to go take a break. This continued from 9-5 all day taking break after break. I have an infant son and a babysitter that comes to my house while I am at work so after an entire day of them jackhammering and stopping just long enough for him to fall asleep before they start rattling the walls and waking him up is very irritating. Because of their terrible work ethic, it has been more than THREE weeks and the sidewalk outside of my apartment is still a giant gaping hole that they are doing nothing to take care of. Some days, they do not even show up, which is probably why it has taken so long and nothing has been done yet. They also "came by" sometime during week 2 because they were looking for a water leak and had to get in our garages to look for it. They babysitter didn't have the garage key so they left. And that was the last we heard about it, so I guess we are all just crossing our fingers that there is no water leak because no one ever actually came by to look for it. They finally "finished" the job and covered the hole back in and when the sprinklers came on last night, it started GUSHING water from where they accidentally tore into the sprinkler system line. read more

There are not enough good things to say about dependable plumbing. An hour after calling them on a Saturday afternoon, the bathrooms were functional. The plumbing in this house is a nightmare!!! We have had many assessment as to why and the possible fixes which include tearing up the floors in the house to replace the cast iron pipes. Dependable Plumbing not only fixed the blockage, they found the problem-a poorly installed clean out with no support has formed a belly that traps waste. The fix is outside the house, simple and fast. I am sorry we didn't talk to them first! In addition, the plumbers who came to my house were professional, polite, extremely knowledgeable and amazingly tolerant of my yappy little dogs. I live in a condo and we had a sewer line back up which runs right in front of my unit. They flushed it once from the unit down from me and had to come back and flush it again from in front of my unit. Now we are inundated with little black flies. I have put many different things (green) down the drains and they will not go away. We have moved everything in the condo and there's not food of any kind anywhere rotting. I was told by a person in the plumbing dept of a big store, that when they flushed from in front of my condo that something probably backwashed up my line and stuck to the side of a pipe. I called DEPENDABLE PLUMBING because our HOA recommends it. I needed to get my shower cartridge replaced, when i called their business number i was given a quote of MAX costs of the job was $245, and I said ok it's fine and scheduled the next day, but before they schedule me an appointment, I have to give them my credit card information including security code so they can have it on file and made sure that they are gonna get their money regardless of the situation! The following day the plumber arrived and checked what kind of cartridge i need and took a picture to ask Valley industrial plumbing supplies if they have them. He came back to my house and told me yes they have it. I said "Great!" And then he proceeded to tell me "Oh by the, the part cost $140 ($65+tax in valley industrial) plus my my labor cost $231 for a total of $371. I was like, what?" Yeah ok whatever! And then he proceeded again "Oh by the way an addition of $102 just for me to check what kind of cartridge you need" for a grand total of $473! And if there is a chance that I break your valve, that will cost you around $2thousand dollars!!!! I was like WHAT?! You break it and I still pay for it?!! If I am the plumber and the customer said yes to that, then I just given him the permission to break my valve so I can pay him to fix it!!! WHAT A FUC-$ING Joke this company is!!!! I am having a walk-in bath installed and bathroom remodel in my condo. As they brought in the level I was reminded of this company to which I paid $144.00 for nothing. The guy they sent didn't even know what a walk-in tub was. I was getting tired of the soggy, rusted tub and ruined drywall due to it being installed wrong originally. The guy that paid them $90 got off easy. They are obviously yes men for the HOAs whose only purpose is to make sure the owner pays. He did absolutely nothing and and he said I would get a big discount next time if I replaced the faucets and I let him know that I would not be letting him back into my home. I wanted to take a minute to promote the services of dependable plumbing and particularly their plumbing technician "Nick". This past Friday our tenant a single mother with two kids had a backed up kitchen sink that would not drain. NIck was responsive, courteous and professional with our tenant , providing an effective remedy to the situation. Note this was our second call, as a competitor was initially dispatched, was not in protective attire and diagnosed the issue as highly disruptive requiring drywall removal between two housing units. The lack of focus on the customer, and no regard for health protection prompted us to cease the service and call for a 2nd opinion. The apartment complex I live in hired this company to re-pipe the water lines in all our units. We were told that after an initial inspection, the plumbers would provide us with the approximate locations in our units that they would be working in, and the dates they would be entering each individual unit. They also said the work areas in our units would be protected with drop cloths and that debris would be vacuumed at the end of each work day. NONE of these things were done. They did not leave any indication of where or when they would be working. They did not cover any part of our apartments with protective coverings. I know this because I came home during lunch one day and saw them making a huge mess in my bathroom and kitchen SANS PROTECTIVE COVERING. They did not clean up remaining debris at the end of the day, or even at the end of this project. There were pieces of drywall all over my floors and countertops. Worst of all, when I came home yesterday I was unable to unlock my front door using my own housekey. For whatever reason, my key no longer worked, and they were the last people to lock my door. I had to call the property management and have someone come over and break into my apartment using a credit card. The next day the property management sent over a maintenance worker to figure out what happened to the door, and he determined that the plumbers broke my lock. So not only did these guys make a huge mess in my apartment, they damaged my door handle such that I was locked out of my own unit for over an hour, at night. I tried calling their office to yell at them, but they never pick up their phone! DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE, THEY ARE CARELESS AND UNPROFESSIONAL. read more

Made an appt with Laurie for a leak under my sink. The window of time was four hours - from 1-5. at 4:30 I was told he was on his way. At 5:15 I called the office - they were gone. No one showed up. I called and Laurie told me the plumber did show up and left a note on my door. No note and no one showed up. I have a dog that would have barked if someone was there. But she insisted and instead working to ameliorate my anguish, she dug in deeper saying she made a subsequent call, which is not on my phone log. We called several plumbers, from the contacts listed on our water heater, and got voicemail. Then we found the number of Dependable Plumbing through our HOA, and we reached a very pleasant and helpful dispatcher immediately - who was then able to send a plumber out to our house within an hour! My water was shut off on a Thursday because of a backflow testing I failed to do. I was distraught. I called dependable plumbing because I used them last year and thought they would live up to their name. FAIL. They said I would get a technician at my property form 9-11 am. I did not. They called and said 12:30 at the latest. Still no technician. I called the office and spoke to a Carla who said the City of San Diego Water Department does not turn water back on for residents on Fridays. I called the water department and they were kind enough to have my water put back on by the manager of Backflow, Felix Garcia, but only after the testing was done. I called dependable again and they said 3-4 hours, i then complained and told them the water would only be put on if they do their job, and did it on time. The lady on the phone then told me an hour and a half a technician would be at my house. Almost 2 hours later I get a call that the technician is on his way but is still 40 minutes away. The water department closes at 5 and they are 40 minutes away from my house and it is already 3pm. They are cutting it real close. They told me 9-11 am and it is late afternoon, thats a lot of time I could have been doing something important instead of waiting all day for a so called dependable company that was supposed to be here 6 hours ago. My HOA referred me to Dependable Plumbing as my bathtub was filling with water when the washer was in the rinse cycle. I know - totally weird. Anyway Kent was the plumber who came out. The time window was 9:30-10:30 and he came out at exactly 10:05. He was awesome! So nice and friendly and very knowledgeable. Also, very honest. I asked him to look at my water heater to see how much more life it had - as it was 10 years old. He thoroughly checked it out and told me I didn't have to worry for another 5 years! He could have so ripped me off and I would not have known otherwise. It wound up taking him 2 hours to fix the plumbing problem as it was really clogged, and while it ultimately was not the responsibility of the HOA (Bummer!), I felt the price I was charged was very very reasonable. He worked his ass off I was really pleased. I would definitely ask for Kent if and when I have to use them again. read more

The plumber came out on Monday and promised me a quote on Tuesday. I called to follow up on late Tuesday afternoon and the receptionist told me to call back on Wednesday when the plumber would be in the office. I asked if she could take a message. She did but it still didn't do any good. I didn't get the quote until the following week and by this time I had called someone else. Keep in mind that I was without hot water this whole time. He also totally missed my water pressure measuring at 150 psi which is considered flood level. This was the first thing the other two plumbers did who came out to look at my slab leak. I was also given a quote to jack hammer my slab which I was told by a leak specialist would hamper the integrity of my foundation. So glad I dodged this situation. read more
