Oysters Rockefeller

First time here, went for lunch on a beautiful day. The restaurant is hidden away, which gives it this "locals" vibe which is cool. Clean, bright ambiance, with friendly staff. We had the calamari, which was good, but I didn't get the "hot honey" part of it, it tasted like classic fried calamari, which again was good! Oysters Rockefeller were spot on, and the low country boil could feed a crowd, it was all fresh and tasty would love to see what the vibes are in the evenings in the future.

I finally had an opportunity to dine at Desposito's Seafood restaurant in Thunderbolt Ga. And I must say that I have found my new seafood go to restaurant. The food was so fresh and the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the menus. My wife and I even had a great view of the sun setting on the river the entire dining experience was awesome!

Great is the best way to describe this restaurant! Staff was kind and helpful. The outdoor space is beautiful although we opted to sit inside and enjoy the ac. Everything was delish and cooked perfectly

I had the opportunity to join the Eat It and Like It Supper Club at Desposito's. For someone who has never been here...it was 100% AMAZING! The food, the staff, and the history were perfect in every way! We ended up having a four-course meal. For starters, we had Raw Oysters topped with a Bloody Mary Granita. The second Course was Desposito's original recipe, crab soup, which I licked the bowl. I wanted more! For the third Course, we had pan-seared black grouper over tarragon cream pappardelle Pasta, and the best was saved for last! The fourth Course was a mini three-layer red velvet cake with a chocolate ganache! I loved every bite, and the wine paring was terrific! I can't recommend this place enough!

We had a great experience here. We visited on a Saturday night expect a wait but it's worth it . We were delighted to find out they could make me a non alcoholic mock-tail. The egg rolls are a must my boyfriend is still raving about them. He enjoyed his shrimp scampi . I would pass on their mac n cheese and explore something else next time. They have an outdoor bar with live music which looked really nice . Parking can be a little tricky on weekends.

Shrimp and grits

I got there around 1:30 or so in the afternoon and the restaurant was full with the exception of two seats at the bar. I sat down and I was waiting on rather quickly. I thought the service overall was good. I ordered shrimp and grits. It was sort of hide and seek to find the shrimp and I never did find anything else. The best shrimp and grits I've ever eaten is from a restaurant in Albany, Georgia called Austin's fire Grill. Using that as the 10 reference point, I would've rated this food about a 6.

It feels high-end but keeps it strictly comfortable, kind of like a classic 90s beat--smooth, but with enough weight to keep it real. I rocked the namesake seafood soup and the Brussels sprouts, and they both hit. But the real MVP of the night was my wife's cornmeal-crusted fish and grits. She's been eating her way through Savannah all week, and she called this the undisputed champ. The waitstaff was 100--on point and kept everything moving. Word of advice: parking looks like a whole situation, so we just walked over from the hotel. If you're looking for a legit spot that's easy on the eyes and the palate, this is it. Peace.

Our lady was super friendly, nice and helpful. Ambiance is very modern and pleasant. It is also very spacious and romantic place, we definitely enjoyed a date night. We started with beets with goat cheese and shrimp gumbo. Both appetizers were delicious. I don't usually like gumbo but this one was very good! For main we had cioppino and salmon. Both were amazing, totally enjoyed it. We also had some mocktails that were delicious. Great place.

The brunch menu is fairly…read moreextensive, so we had some difficulty choosing what to order....but definitely come hungry because the portions are large and the food is pretty rich. To share amongst the table, we ordered the cinnamon toast banane and crispy gouda grit croquettes. Thumbs up on both, particularly the croquettes which were the right balance of gooey and structured enough to eat with the delicious sauce on the side. The cinnamon toast banane was not so much toast as cinnamon rolls with bananas foster; the cinnamon rolls were really tasty and the bananas foster was good, though the bourbon flavor was strong. For my entree, I ordered one of the lighter vegetarian dishes - the mushroom tartine with tomato soup. I think it is one of the lighter dishes - certainly lighter than what my dining companions ordered - but it was still quite rich with a fair amount of gouda fondue in the tomato bisque soup. The mushroom tartine/sandwich was really flavorful with the pesto, cheese and tons of mushrooms. The restaurant is quite large with an upstairs seating area.

The food was delicious, unique, and came in very generous portions. Our server Dave was especially great: friendly, attentive, and really knowledgeable about the menu. They even gave us a complimentary round of champagne to celebrate the bride!

Sunday fried chicken in a converted gas station five miles outside Savannah, with oysters that I'm…read morestill thinking about three days later. That's the short version. Here's the longer one. Erica Davis Lowcountry sits on Victory Drive in Thunderbolt -- a town so small it has exactly one square mile of land and a name borrowed from a lightning strike that supposedly split open a freshwater spring on the Wilmington River bluff. The restaurant itself has a similar origin story: a long-shuttered seafood spot called Teeple's, left empty for years, brought back to life by Erica and Dwight Davis with real care. The gaslight sconces out front stayed. So did the bones of the building. The garage doors open when the weather cooperates. We came in late on a Friday, catching the final stretch of their brunch service. Hannah (I believe) was our server -- in training, which you wouldn't have guessed. She steered us well and managed the table (and the room) with a confidence that didn't feel performed. We started with the Barbecue Shrimp and the Oysters Rockefeller. The barbecue shrimp -- Georgia shrimp in a spiced, rich sauce served with toasts -- was good but the one I'd skip on a return visit. The Oysters Rockefeller are the opposite story: roasted, finished with creamed collards and parmesan, and genuinely one of the better bites I've had in recent memory. Order them. My husband had the Wassaw Redfish -- pan-seared over stone-ground grits with garlic beurre blanc and heirloom tomato. Clean, confident cooking. I had the Sunday fried chicken, which delivered exactly what that dish promises when it's done right. Sides of fresh green beans, South Georgia collards, and Erica's Famous Coleslaw held their own across the board. Dessert was the Key Lime Pie, served in a cup that does not prepare you for how good it is. Tart and creamy in the right proportion. We didn't leave any behind. The family's seafood history in Savannah goes back to 1946. You can feel that kind of depth in a kitchen -- not in any one dramatic bite, but in the steadiness of it all.

Visited Erica Davis Lowcountry while in Savannah after hearing plenty of positive reviews. The…read morerestaurant has a nice atmosphere, and the staff was friendly, although our food took a bit longer than expected to arrive. I ordered the Lowcountry Boil, which comes with shrimp, corn, potatoes, and sausage. The sausage and potatoes were good, and the seasoning was decent, but I was underwhelmed overall, especially considering the price. The shrimp didn't seem particularly fresh and had some white spots and discoloration that gave me the impression they may have been frozen for quite a while. As a result, the dish didn't quite live up to the hype for me. My wife ordered the Wassaw Redfish, which was recommended by our server, and that ended up being the standout dish of the meal. The redfish was cooked well, the garlic beurre blanc sauce was rich without being overwhelming, and the grits were creamy and flavorful. The shrimp and green beans complemented the dish nicely. Overall, the experience was mixed. The atmosphere was pleasant, and my wife's entrée was very good, but the Lowcountry Boil fell short of expectations. I'd consider coming back to try some of their other menu items, but based on this visit, I wouldn't order the boil again.
