This was one of the worst salon experiences ever. I am in a lot of pain from my acrylic nail application from about three days ago. As seen in my photos, my nail bed/ cuticles are DESTROYED. she cut them & they were bleeding during the appointment and now as i travel, they're only getting worse and in pain. I am extremely upset.

I came in on a total whim, and I'm so glad I did! I got the prettiest gel French manicure from Tina, and she was so kind. I was greeted by her as soon as I walked in, and only waited maybe 10 minutes. She paid such close attention to detail, and even started over on a nail that had a small hair on it from her brush. I've had this happen with other salons and the just pull the hair away, leaving an indent in the polish. I know that's totally minor, but it went along way with me. I though about bypassing the manicure part, but I'm happy I let her do it. My cuticles look healthy, my nails are EVEN, smooth and beautiful. Good job Tina! I've got your card and number...you've gained another client!

These nails keep falling off. I have mixed feelings about this salon. However my most recent experience there has been bad. I dropped 200.00 dollars on a full set of coffin nails with gel and two pedicures. The pedicures were good but I noticed two days of having my full set they started to change color (they were lilac color and turned grayish) and 3 of my nails have already fallen off so naturally I go back on that Monday to get them fixed and THEY CHARGED ME an EXTRA 10 DOLLARS FOR A MATTE TOP COAT which I paid so an hour later I'm returning home and my left pointer finger nail falls off and then two days later my pinky nail falls off again while I'm at work so yesterday I went in again and they made me wait forever so I just left and I asked why they were just falling off. AND THEIR EXCUSE IS THAT I HAVE SMALL NAIL BEDS & Refused to give me any sort of refund. I'm never going back

The file cut.

It's meh. It's cramped and not clean. The lady who did my full set cut me with a file AND the drill and seemed unfazed at the blood. I'd guarantee the file wasn't discarded or sanitized. I had to ask her to stay off the skin and she just made a noise no actual words. Apparently my pain didn't merit a response. The best part is she charged me an extra $3 for the length of my nails. I thought the definition of a full set was extending my natural nails. So basically the full set includes nothing you get charged for the color of the tip, the powder, the shape and the length. The final result was average at best. I paid $40.65.

The green spot under my nail I described in my review.

I'm sad to say I'm never going back again. I was going to go in tomorrow to get a fill. I took my nail polish off and found a green spot in my nail. I know this is caused by either lifting of the nail and moisture getting trapped or by dirty tools. In the years I have been getting acrylics on, I have NEVER had this happen! I have posted a picture of it.

You want the table a little warmer/ cooler? Got it. Want to lighten the pressure in certain areas? Sure, no problem! Curious about how 'x' pain connects to 'y' limb? You'll get an accurate, thoughtful response. Lights lower, music softer? She's on it. No stress added that I arrived a couple minutes late. She apparently had time, so she tacked those couple minutes on to the end and I got as many minutes as I actually paid for - that's always super appreciated! It would be nice if the room was a little more soundproofed or located further back in the building away from the road; I could hear lunch hour traffic rushing by on the street about 20 yd away. But other than that, this was a great massage, and I've had plenty over the decades. A lot of therapists these days slop through the motions, but Karen really has a pinpoint, accurate understanding of the human body and I give her full props for 90 minutes of targeted, firm pressure body work. Me having slightly arthritic hands, I greatly appreciate her stamina! I left the appointment, amazed with an amount of flexibility in my neck and shoulders I haven't felt in probably 10 years. Then I had my nails done with gel because - gasp- it's terrible to them if you get just regular acrylics, they act like you're insulting them or doing a disservice and are cheap. So the gel looked pretty but it wasn't the shade that I wanted. But my nail tech wasn't feeling well so I just let it slide, the color was still pretty. So it doesn't end there - less than two weeks later my nails start breaking. I went back to get one fixed and even the guy fixing it seemed confused as to why it broke so easily. Obviously they weren't thick enough- that's why! I went back and got them balanced and didn't get gel, the regular polish didn't even look that great but oh well still a lot cheaper than last time. So the other nails broke within the next week one by one. It got to the point to where I just decided the heck with it all and got them taken off- for $15.00 plus tip! This set of nails lasted me about a month roughly. Doesn't get much better than this folks!! I will never go back. A big waste of time and money!

I have been seeing Gia for about 6 years now and would not trust my hair to anyone else, well, except her partner Jess who works in the salon with her. ;) In fact, I drive all the way from Westerville to get to her. Beauty Trends provides expert coloring, styling, hair care and facial waxing for prices well below high end salons and in a casual, friendly, small town feel environment. None of that stuffy, impersonal, client shuffling that you pay $150+ for in those types. My hair has never looked better, and Gia is truly magical with her colors, however, she will tell you, she's not a miracle worker, so you have to be realistic and endure a process if there is drastic color change. Just wish I had gone there first and not lost all the extra money (and compromised the health of my hair). ***************************************************************** 4 stars for customer service, but about 2 for results. The results were very pretty, and would be perfect for a LOT of people. But it was NOT the ombre/balayage I asked to have done. If you google Balayage you will see a mass of examples of this incredibly popular technique where certain strands are brush painted with a subtly lighter tone than your true root color. It is supposed to mimic when a child goes out into the sun for a summer and has pretty highlights. I thought I would be the perfect candidate because I haven't had color on my hair in 5 years and I already had natural highlights that this technique could play off. In all the examples I found, NO foils were used, just brush painting and possibly saran wrap to separate any layers for thicker hair. I contacted several salons and asked who could do a balayage with a bit of ombre at the bottom. Not all stylist can do balayage/ombre. I was so excited to get a last minute appointment at totally platinum because everywhere else was booking out weeks for this technique. The stylist at TP gave me her personal cell # so i could send a pic of what i wanted, which I loved. I sent her the pic below labeled "what I asked for". She immediately responded with "I can do that". When I came to my appointment I showed her several other pictures of what I wanted for the balayage/ombre. She said she could do it. Basically I wanted something very natural looking. SUBTLE. When she started using foils I was skeptical because everything I read about a balayage said the reason it is so natural looking is because it's painted on and using saran wrap instead of foils (foils over-develop the hair or something) but I was already in the chair and she said "there are lots of ways of doing a "balayage"/"ombre"... so I tried not to worry too much. I could also feel her doing the foils really high onto my crown, which you also DON'T DO color on the crown with a balayage or ombre. You wouldn't naturally have that much highlighting in your crown if you went out into the sun. It was 9pm when she finished and the color seemed incredibly bright/yellow so I just went home and decided to wash it and style it my regular way the next day to see how it goes... But I still couldn't get past it the next day. I had tiger stripes when I tried to pull it back into a ponytail. And the color was far from subtle, and far from what my ash-blonde natural highlights would look like. I called and spoke to the new manager, Jen. She was great and said I could stop by right away. She looked it over and said a toner might get it a bit closer to what I wanted by taking down the bright yellow, but she seemed to imply that nothing could be done to get me to the effect I really wanted now that all those highlights were in there. So she and the stylist gave me a free toner. She even taught me how to style my natural waves which I thought was very nice of her. Because I was so specific in the treatment I wanted, I should have waited and gone to a place that specializes in it. But the stylist should not have assured me she could do a balayage when all I got was a plain old 90's weaved highlight. Actually it's not even a 90's weaved highlight because she didn't do it all the way to my scalp. And it's not a balayage because there was spiradic-to-heavy highlighting in my crown. So it's some weird hybrid. I think the most upsetting is the color. It's way too bleached out to look natural, and the toner helped but I still have chunky stripes in places. My husband says it looks awesome and it's close (after the toner) to the picture I used as an example. But my friends who are in the know, can tell this is in NO WAY a balayage. Most likely I will be making an expensive color correction trip to another salon to get the effect I wanted. Just stinks because I have already lost most of my natural hair color and natural highlighting. I will have regrowth now which is the whole point of getting a balayage/ombre, so that your regrowth adds to the effect instead of making you run to the salon every 6 weeks. In the end, I bet LOTS of people will like the pic below and want something similar to this because regular weave/highlighting is still incredibly popular and pretty. I have even gotten compliments on it already (from the older crowd)... but it's not what I wanted.
