We wanted to try this donut place after seeing it on youtube and we were close by so we stopped by. Well it is downtown, so parking is a huge factor but luckily it was early and we were able to park in a mini parking lot in the back that they share with Kettner exchange restaurant after we had already went around the blocks once already. Its a cute little small window to order and they have an upstairs that had a dj playing music with a sitting area. They actually have a lot of sitting area too. Menu is basic and donuts are very different and unique and creative. I went ahead and got a chocolate old fashioned and my husband a chocolate glaze, we didn't go fancy on it just traditional. First bite the chocolate just tastes different but the breading is good! Maybe we are use to Yumyum donuts that this wasn't as tasteful to us. Now service was fantastic! Everyone very nice from ordering to just showing me where the bathroom was and making sure to tell us there is a DJ upstairs. I don't think we would be back but worth a try once especially if you want to try a fancy creative unique donut.

This place has always been on my list of go to's and scrolling past the reviews, I saw they received a lot of negativity from their service and one person mentioned krispy kream tops them.... Krispy kream is for you if you like artificial tasting donuts, but Devil's Dozen tastes incredibly FRESH and DELICIOUS! As I was ordering, I can physically see someone preparing the dough for the donuts. Customer service was fine, but I'm here to order donuts and then go upstairs to their incredible patio to eat them. Upstairs would be a fantastic study spot too, I'm not sure if they have wifi but hotspot will do the trick. Devil's dozen and the store next door, kettner exchange is owned by the same person, although I've never been to exchange. This place would easily be five stars if parking wasn't a nightmare, if I'm not able to find something right away, I'd skip it rather than driving around. Donuts: 5/5 Service: 4/5 Parking: 3/5

Small donut area. Service was quick. Not too busy with people. They have a variety of delicious donuts. Lemon Poppy was my favorite. Fresh coffee as well to go along with the donuts.

I came here with the lady for a pop up event with free coffee and donuts on a Saturday morning a few months back. We had planned to go the little Italy mercato after a quick stop. So we checked in at the window with the QR code and were sent upstairs where there music was bumping. Upstairs they had a DJ and even a Aperol spritz cart girl! Coffee was good and so were the donuts! I will definitely come back for these donuts. Many people were just ordering at the window to take them to go. Unaware of the event it appeared. There was a younger, beautiful crowd here but, to be honest at this stage of my life I'm totally unfazed.. I enjoyed the gorgeous rooftop view along with the other views, even if I did get elbowed by the wife.. Music was a house type electro-pop style. It was for the CRSSD spring event I believe. So the lady didn't want another coffee, but she did want an Aperol spritz. Suddenly the elbowing stopped, and we left happy.

Unfortunately these were some of the not so best donuts I've had. They were chewy as it felt like I was chewing on mochi. Not sure if I'm coming back for more but it was worth a try. It's a tiny spot in the outskirts of Little Italy. I only came here because of TooGoodToGo and paid $10 for 6 donuts (it said it was worth $30 so I'm assuming $5 a donut). Can't say they're good just based on first bite but I was hungry and ate the entire donut and gave the rest to my coworkers. I thought you really couldn't go wrong with donuts but I guess you can. Perhaps it wasn't a good batch, who knows.

San Diego has no shortage of great donut spots. I have never been able to get my hands on Devil's Dozen Donuts because they usually sell out before I get to Little Italy. But lately, we've been frequenting the Little Italy Farmer's Market at opening, so it was finally time to give it a try. We arrived at 8:25am and there was a short line. It moved slowly, but gave some time to be able to check out the selection. They have a smattering of classics along with unique flavors including some filled ones. We were boring and went with an old fashion and a Devil's vanilla. Both donuts were good, but Little Italy is always a trek, so I don't think I'd go out of my way to get them. Service was very friendly though and I appreciated that they clearly knew their regulars.

Was in town for comic con and as a huge donut fan I was really excited to try this place as I passed it on the way back from the gym Thursday morning. So Friday I went right after class and got there at 6:58am right before they "open" at 7am per their sign. Emphasis on "open". Pros: Seems to be very popular, the line was 9 deep when I ordered. The donuts are aesthetically pleasing and good variety. The Homer donut was tasty and always fun as a Simpsons fan to see. Cons: Ok, here we go. As I said I got there 6:58am. 7am came and passed. I hear voices but the window shade is still down. At 7:05am I kinda just say politely through the shade "hello?" since I would like to order and get back to my hotel since I have things to do it being comic con. I got a terse "we're not open yet". So I stood there and people started showing up. 7:08am the shade goes up and I'm first in line and the employee says "It'll be another couple minutes guys". So I stood there just staring at the display of donuts to kill time as she repeatedly clicked on the screen. 7:10am I'm just kind of lost in my own thoughts as I'm waiting and I look and the employee is just staring at me. I asked "Can i order now?" and she gave me a sarcastic response of yes. She never indicated she was ready. She didn't give a polite "Thanks for the wait, I can take your order now". Nothing. She gave off the vibe that she was just annoyed at me now. I ordered my two donuts - vanilla bean and Homer. She packaged it and handed it to me. No last chance to comment on the wait. No shade of politeness. Nothing. I can understand not being ready at opening but when there are people waiting, you can't just ignore it and not acknowledge that people waited. That's poor customer service and that ruins everything. The donuts were fine - albeit expensive - but the experience is all I'm taking from this.

Came in Saturday at about 11 so most of the inventory was sold out but we were able to snag a devils vanilla It was pretty good but nothing crazy, they have other flavors i would love to try and maybe even order ahead since the wait was pretty extensive

I only had two donuts here but they were amazing. Will repeat. Girl at the checkout was nice. I was here on a Tuesday and she told me it's their slowest day and that most days they sell out. The brown butter cheesecake donut was probably the best donut I've had in San Diego

Found this place thanks to the Underground Donut Tour. It's adorable and the upstairs is comfy and has a fantastic view. I love the thought that went into their website, their donuts are 'fresh as hell' and the hours are 'or until souled out'. I'm allergic to egg, so unfortunately I cannot personally speak to the flavor of their donuts. The other people on my donut tour absolutely LOVED theirs. They were so pretty. We had an opportunity to meet the owner, she was kind and we appreciated her taking time out of her day to spend a few minutes with us as we left. In reviewing their website, I see that they offer gluten free options on the weekends. I'll keep an eye on them to look for egg-free options because I'm eager to go back. In the meantime, the hubs definitely found his fave donut spot!

Stumbled on this place completely by accident while wandering around waiting for our dinner table. I came looking for bronze... and found gold. My boyfriend is basically a donut sommelier (yes, that's a thing in our house), so obviously we had to try half a dozen. They change flavors daily, which feels like both a blessing and a cruel joke because the guava cream I had will live rent-free in my mind forever. The donuts? Soft, fluffy, and dangerously addictive. The kind of treat you "just have a bite of" and then suddenly you're 13 donuts in. I'm actually mad I don't live in California, because if I did, I'd be stopping by here for coffee and donuts like it was a part time job. Moral of the story: go in "just to look" and leave with a box.

Love this spot! The manager(with the green hair) Emily is always so KIND & helpful picking the best donuts! Staff is great, all around good morning vibes in downtown + donuts that you just can't find anywhere else! This is an older photo of my last visit, but every weekend new flavors appear!!

Delicious donut spot in Little Italy on the corner of Kettner and Grape. It's a walk-up serving donuts and coffee until they run out. The hubby and I swung by on a Sunday after dropping family off at the airport and picked up 4 donuts. All were quite good with the tres leches cake being my favorite. It was dense due to being soaked with cream, very flavorful, and on the verge of needing to be eaten with a fork. Next was the salted caramel latte yeast donut that was also spectacular. The coffee flavor was out of this world. The filled strawberry cheesecake donut was tasty. The surprise filling was graham crackers crumble! Last was a vanilla bean yeast which was a basic donut with a good vanilla bean flavor.

Banana + honey + espresso/matcha + milk + banana cloud cream + cinnamon, this is a banana bread dreammm, it hits every time I get it. My friend got it as the espresso and said it was delicious as a coffee option too! I've also tried their "trust fund kid" matcha which is an earl grey + espresso/matcha + milk. This one was good but didn't hit as much as the funny business does for me, I feel like I've had stronger earl grey flavor matchas before. My friend got the "slow clap" matcha and said it was delicious too! Guava + matcha/chai + milk + guava cloud cream. I'd be very curious to try this as a chai since I've never seen a guava chai before! My parents got the "loose cannon" espresso and liked it but it seemed pretty basic/standard to me! Irish cream + espresso/matcha + milk + vanilla cloud cream. Seems ideal if you're looking for a good creamy latte w some cute green accents on top! They also got an americano and enjoyed it! $4 isn't bad for espresso + water and they said the coffee blend was good! Seems like the trend amongst what me and my friends have gotten is anything with a flavor and cloud cream is a delicious option. PASTRIES: I've also tried their strawberry orange loaf and it was perfectly moist with natural strawberry orange flavors, I would definitley be interested in trying more of their pastries! Ambiance is fantastic it's inside a giant plant store warehouse so feels like you're in a houseplant jungle while you sip on your morning coffee/matcha. Also gives you something to do since you can explore and window shop while you wait for your drink. They have lots of other cute cards and little Knick knacks lining the area to line up to place your order too so there's always something to capture your attention! Also a good amount of seating and you get to sit amongst all of the lovely plants and feel the fresh air! Service has been pretty fast every time I've come especially given how busy they've been on the weekend when I've come. (Albeit be prepared to wait 15-20+ min on a busy holiday weekend). When they're busy they'll have someone at the counter taking orders alongside someone on a tablet to speed things up. You get a text notification when your drink is done so no need to wait around the counter. There's also a little TV where names and estimated wait times are updated which is super convenient! Parking here is plentiful! There's a parking lot as well as tons of street parking, I've always been able to find parking within a block or two even on mother's day! Overall, I LOVE selva, the funny business matcha alone is enough to keep me coming back! Dare I say this may be my favorite / one of my favorite matcha place in SD! Their drinks are also super cute alongside being super tasty and their interior is so good!
