After reading a local article today about this business, I decided to visit in honor of National Donut Day. The Best Donuts was located as a service window in the northwestern section of Seaport Village. Parking around this area was all metered with a rate of at least two dollars per hour. I ate a meal first at a neighboring restaurant before coming to check out the selections. A drinks menu was posted on the wall to the left of the window. The categories were coffee, milk, soda, water, boba tea, beer, and wine. Immediately what stood out were the sky-high prices. For example, a boba tea drink cost $10 which was at least 25 percent more than anywhere else in town. A can of soda cost four dollars... 'nuff said. Because this was in the heart of a tourist district, I can see why the prices were inflated. About 20 varieties of donuts were on display at the window. That was the best attribute of the shop. The prices again were very high with a mini donut costing a maxi price of five dollars apiece. Some of the fancier donut types were between $10 to $12 each! The article stated that this was a Polish donut chain with its first US branch here in SD. Apparently, The Best Donuts has been operating for nearly a year so to claim it recently opened was misleading. I asked the cashier if they had any paczki (poonch-key). She gave me a quizzical look and consulted another worker who said there were none. I could tell right away from looking at the products that they were not paczki. I grew up not far from a Polish enclave where every year on Mardi Gras, it was a big celebration with dozens of paczki brought into schools and workplaces for everyone to enjoy. These donuts looked nothing like authentic paczki. I purchased one donut which was a Bavarian Cream with Black Currant filling that set me back seven dollars. The donut was fairly warm, but it didn't taste as fresh as I had expected. I did like that it wasn't too sweet for my palate. Overall, I rounded my rating up to a three star level for this experience at The Best Donuts.

Please skip this donut spot. I came to order a donut today and it took over 5 mins to order when I got to the window. I honestly dont know what they were doing in the back but one guy was just standing there and the other girl was barely in the front. There was a line but everyone else in front of me waited so long to even get an order in they all gave up. So I actually waited longer than 5 mins. I ordered just a donut and Cappuccino. The coffee was like gas station. No surprise there. But the donuts... Super stale and barely any filling. I get it was 7pm but It was super doughy and i actually order the chocolate Rafaella and thought I would get more chocolate but mostly got vanilla... Super disappointed overall. Bad service and bad donut. Sad that I saw so many people wait for a donut and give up.

After a morning jog to Seaport Village, I feel like getting something sweet to snack on. Going around the food area of Seaport Village, I saw this Donut shop , I don't remember seeing it here before so I gave it a try. There are so many selections like choose from like, STRAWBERRY w / CHOCOLATE, APPLE pie , FERRERO, and more, all sound good but also sound so sweet for me. I just chose something that can probably balance the sweetness and the filling, which is the LEMON. I did like this donut, citrusy from the Lemon and Sugar just goes well together. They also have Cold and Hot drinks here but I stayed with my water, probably next time I will try their drinks here on my next jogging here in the area.

First time trying "The Best Donuts" in Seaport Village, San Diego, CA. I ordered the Bavarian Creme and chocolate donut and both were delicious. The bakery is in a good spot next to shops and restaurants. I received friendly service. Check it out! Happy Yelping :)

I've always seen the sign when walking in Seaport Village. That small blonde beauty in white wearing a chef's hat (chef's hat is called a toque (pronounced toke), or more formally a toque blanche (French for "white hat") and holding an almost overflowing display of glistening donuts. I have never believed the claim "The Best Donuts" or been enticed by the offer until now. Maybe it's because the world feels like it's going to end and YOLO? They actually might be the best donuts. Wow. I couldn't believe my taste buds as I munched the flakey moist outside to hit pay dirt with the gooey sugar filled jelly. Try them for yourself and be shocked while satisfied that the best donuts are in a San Diego tourist trap.

We stumbled upon this small donut shop near the marina by our hotel, and it was such a delightful find! It felt like the perfect spot to grab a sweet treat while enjoying the views. The donuts themselves were fantastic--fresh, flavorful, and beautifully made. The kids absolutely loved them, and it was so fun to watch them get excited over the new and creative flavors. There's clearly a lot of care and creativity that goes into making each one, which made the experience even more special. Overall, this donut shop is a must-visit if you're in the area. Great treats, fun new flavors, and a family-friendly atmosphere made it a highlight of our trip. We'll definitely be coming back the next time we're in SD!

This place was pretty popular last night !!! I couldnt resist and had to try one. There were so many delicious choices to pick from. I ended up getting the strawberry cream cheese and it was incredible. Its in the middle of a glazed donut and bear Claw. Saved half for breakfast and tasted just as good.

Was this the best donut ever??? In my opinion not really. The donuts looked good, the size was appealing to the price but from a taste perspective it was ordinary. The glaze isn't heavy. You bite and it crumbles. You lose more of the glaze onto to the table then in your bite. I'm ok with that though. I don't care for very sticky, dense glaze. You have to take several bites before getting to the filling. I tried both the black current and lemon and they were average filled taste. I was expecting more. The location is tucked back, and you order at the window. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is a lot of room around to sit and enjoy your sweet treat.

    Great for office treats!

These donuts are beautiful and delicious and there's something special for everyone! Right by the water, great for date night! Janik was super friendly and full of smiles and kindness. They serve draft beer here too!

I noticed this new spot open at Seaport Village today and was excited to try it! They were on the pricier side but it's pretty much expected for a touristy spot like Seaport Village. Mini donuts are $3.50, most glazed with filling were $7, which seemed on par with seaport village. There were a few "premium" ones at $12 which is extravagant for what it is. They did look pretty good in the case so I went with the pistachio donut which was one of the "premium" ones at $12. The dough was heavy and dense and the frosting was also dense and pretty sticky. It wasn't the worst but also no where near the best - definitely not what I was looking for which was a light and airy donut. And definitely not worth the price! The guy at the counter was nice and friendly. He mentioned that they had only been open for a little over a week so maybe they're still working out kinks. Overall, I might give them another shot to give them the benefit of the doubt. Also, I saw they also have coffee, boba, and beer on the menu.

The pistachio donut was INCREDIBLE. Absolutely loved this place!! The employees were so kind as my daughter has a peanut allergy and they wanted to make sure there were no peanuts in the items. It was so sweet! They're so kind!

I don't know how someone could name their shop "The Best Donuts" when their donuts are nowhere close to being a contender. Maybe if you like dry and stale donuts, then yes, I can see they would be the best for those people. Great marketing but laughable. Luckily they're in a tourist spot.

The donuts were good but a lil cold and not the best for a $8 donut? But a cool experience. The lady was real helpful and nice! It's in a nice area for a lil walk around. Definitely a tourist spot!

Specialty donut. Regular donut topped with a not sweet cannoli. $13. Disappointing.

The best drink I've tried so far is their seasonal icy peach with pear jelly added. The pear jelly is worth the upgrade if you like jelly type toppings, though be warned that it's fairly sweet so adjust your drink's sugar accordingly. I have a sweet tooth and typically find the "less sugar" option to be the right amount. My only gripe is that my brown sugar boba is often a little hard, not freshly cooked. The pricing is on the higher end for boba, so I am a bit stricter on what I expect to receive.

I like their Jasmine Biscoff drink as well as their Jade Matcha. I will say that the drink is more milk ratio heavy, instead of tea heavy. I do prefer a tea heavy drink, but I still think that it is good and a nice treat to have. I like the decorations and the cat pictures they put up. It is a very warm-toned, and minimal aesthetic interior. There are a few chairs and benches letting you sit and chat with friends, but not many tables, so it wouldn't be ideal to do work. Definitely a shareable portion between 2 people as a hefty snack, and 3-4 people if you just want a small bite. The taro sweet milk tea was unlike any other taro drink I've had before, because there seemed to be actual mashed taro in the bottom of the drink. It was presented beautifully layered, and it kind of tasted like strawberry milk to me. Fun to try, and looking forward to trying other drinks next time! The inside of the cafe had plentiful and comfortable seating, a great playlist, and it was clean. You can really taste the white pepper and Thai basil, which is exactly what I'm looking for when I'm craving Taiwanese popcorn chicken. My only complaint is the price. It's around $13 for what feels like maybe a cup of chicken, which is a little crazy for the portion size. But...when the craving hits, it definitely hits the spot!
