I have to say...the best part about Dexter's are their fries! Their burgers are good, but not mind blowing. I think they're better than McDonald's though. I hear that the burgers are good here, but I wouldn't know. I showed up at 6:55 pm to grab a meal and the girl stated that they close in two minutes. The open sign was lit up and the sign on the door says that they close at 8pm as well as the online hours stated! We even pointed that out and she said thank you. The most filthy place I've ever eaten!! I was worried we were going to get food poisoning. The ketchup bottles were disgusting. I wouldn't let my kids eat their burgers. Dirt everywhere!!! This is hard cause I wanna give this place higher marks but I just can't.I just moved into this area and I am a burger lover these burgers have no flavor and the service was rough I ordered no tomatoes and of course they messed that up I ordered late as they were closing and felt rushed even though I was taking it to go. It was hot, busy + the 2 employees seemed stressed and confused. Only 1 (dirty) high chair in the small restaurant. So I went for a little drive and wound up at Dexter's. Wanted to try it after reading a few yelper's comments. I ordered the Dexter Double Burger and fries. The Burger was big with three pieces of bread to seperate the two patties, but there was nothing special about it except that it was only 5.75. I just was expecting more from it. Good food for a decent price. You can get a shake with the combos which is a plus. They don't have fry sauce but still really great food.

Not sure what the hell is up with this place but it was infested with flies. The amount of flies I've only ever seen surrounding a dumpster. Not a very good atmosphere for eating food or making it. I had a terrible experience here. read more

Went to high school next door went to eat here quite often its good greasy cheap food burgers , chili fires, mozz sticks. Its a fun atmospehere when its full of students they even have a little window that you can stand outside and order food through it. read more

Amazing how some of the best food in America is found in the strangest places that you would never find anywhere else

I stopped in against my better judgement but my mother insisted I get a burger since we didnt have much food at home, BIG MISTAKE. I opened the huge double burger I ordered and thought it looked good only to discover that the meat was pink after I took one bite and looked at it. I thought a little pink would be ok so I continued eating the undercooked burger. To my horror when I reached the center of the burger it was COMPLETELY RAW AND UNCOOKED. I threw it in the microwave and cooked it fully before finishing it. I cannot believe they server raw hamburger meat to people. They are gonna have a lawsuit on their hands. I am sitting here right now with diareaha, it kicked in about 45 minutes after I ate the huge undercooked burger. Avoid this place at all costs. I remember when I was a kid the food they served was cooked. They must be under new ownership. I paid over 8 bucks for a burger and fries then I had to wait a long time for them to cook it or should I say NOT COOK IT. read more

My husband has gone to Dexter's a couple of times after work and really loved their burgers, I finally talked him into taking me there so I could try them. I loved their double Dexter with bacon! I didn't try the fries but after the burger I think I'll try the whole works next time!! The location also is great especially if your looking for somewhere fun to go with the kids, its right next to the purdy spit convenient to get some burgers and head to the beach to eat and play! read more

I was there this last week and was very disappointed. I love little Mom and Pop drive inns. This was the first time I have eaten there. I was alone and ordered a cheese burgar combo. The gal helping me was very sweet and helpful. I asked for Ketchup only on the burgar and asked for it to go. After I paid I asked for my drink cup and she said a combo didn't include a drink. I thought for 13 bucks it should have. She gave me a cup and said I will throw it in since I didn't clarify. When my meal came up I saw two meals in the bag. I told her I only ordered one. She said oops. ..I rang you up for two. Instead of waiting any longer I left since I needed to get back to seattle. I opened the bag and found the fries to be under cooked...raw and cold. I opened the hamburger to have it fully loaded with all the fixings. I'm allergic to onions. I checked the second hamburger. .again full of onions. I had to throw the entire meal out and would have taken it back if I hadn't already gone threw the toll booth. I couldn't tell you how it tasted. I was the only customer they had. Wrong order, under cooked food and could have killed me if I had bitten into that burgar without checking since it had onions and not was ketchup only. This used to be a nice place to grab a burger and fries. I've stopped many times over the years. Still, if you want a soda or a shake, give it a whirl. If you want food...GO SOMEWHERE ELSE unless it's just on your way and you're not in a hurry. It takes forever to get your food. If the fries are hot, the burgers going to be cold. The chicken sandwich will be over-cooked. That is of course if that's what you ordered, ... but if it isn't, you might have that in your bag anyway. Check your order when you get it, check it again on the way to your car, check it again before you eat it. Over the last 8 months, my order has been wrong (and cold) 80% of the time. Sometimes they will give your order to someone else, who will take it to their car, have a few fries, then bring it back in because it's not theirs. Then they will figure it out and give it to you...yum! I don't know what country these folks are from, but I think it's the outskirts of "I don't give a rip!" Anyway, what used to be the Great American Burger Joint is now....well I don't know what it is. Too bad, it was so good and convenient in the past. There's a Pub up the road that makes good burgers & fries to go, and kids are welcome inside in the seating area. Or there's McD's a couple miles away. Can't recommend Dexter's anymore, wish I could. I went here after school and during lunch time for food often, and every time it disappointed me more and more. The burgers were burned half the time, the fries were either salted too little or too much, and the food made me sick every single time. After getting a glance into the back I saw that they were handling the lettuce and buns with their bare hands. I watched for a bit, and they didn't even wash their hands between touching money, raw meat, buns, vegetables, fries cooked and uncooked, and the cloth to wipe the counters down! No wonder I got sick. It's almost always run by one person, and sometimes they're even wobbling drunk. Don't go here, they're way against food safety laws. read more

This place is not good at all. My wife and I are huge fans of Dave's Burger Joint in Port Orchard (which literally DOES have the WORLD'S BEST BURGERS), and they were closed, and we were on our way to the movies. We decided to stop in here for dinner. The place was freezing cold, looks like it hasn't been cleaned for at least 15 years, the girl at the counter wasn't very informative, and she acted like she didn't want to be there. When we finally got the food, it wasn't a bad portion, but it was over-priced. At Dave's, you can get the same stuff we got, (1/4 lb burger, philly cheese steak, fries and drinks) all for around $15. It was almost $20 here, and at Dave's, all of his burgers are 1/2 lbs! So, you don't get what you pay for here. Back to the food, the burger tasted no better than a Mcdonald's burger, and the Philly cheese steak? It was a Philly GREASE steak! It was disguisting! The fries were okay, probably the best part of the meal next to the drinks. We are never eating there again, we figured we'd give a new place a go, well, we did, and we regretted it, so don't you regret it too! OH, and "Dexter's Drive-In"??? I went to Dexters last night and my debit card did not work, my bank is in the process of changing debit cards I had the new one at home however, didn't know the cut off date for the old one. I was not only accused of stealing a debit card after telling them I had the new one at home and I have my id with me I was told not to come back after they put the debit card machine in my face asking "can you even read" can you read I found it to be a very demoralizing experience from the second I walked in the door until I left. I tried to call the manager last night and was told he left. I wasn't able to call today due to my work scheduled but have tried several times and no one answers the phone. when I placed my order I asked for the largest burger the man looked my up and down and stated for you?? causing me to change my order he asked like 3 times is this for here or to go.
