Our first experience with Daphne was back in 2022. I had just graduated from nursing school, and wanted a themed cake for my party. We yelped and researched and came across DH cake studio, it was a plus that she is also a food network cake off champ! We ordered a smaller cake, white cake, with mango mousse. Ever since then we've been hooked. Second time was in 2024 for our sons first birthday. A boombox themed cake, black cake with cookies and creme. Most recently for our son's 2nd birthday, Jollibee themed, back to white cake with mango mousse per our son's request. I cannot stress how easy communication and the design process is. What I love is that Daphne is very communicative, if not through email, through texts. Her cakes are ALWAYS a hit in any age group. Their execution is flawless, and the cakes always taste amazing. To our Asian tongue "not too sweet!" She's a cake off CHAMPION for a reason.

Best custom bakery in town if not the entire Bay Area! I live in Oakland and get my custom cakes here - that's how good it is. Gorgeous cakes and delicious too - we're talking gourmet quality. I ordered the white cake with strawberry filling for my son's first birthday party and ordered the same design as my first son's birthday cake because that's how much I loved it (animal safari). It's a stunning addition to your party - pictures don't do justice to the level of detail Daphne applies to her works of art / cakes. Guests are still talking about the design and the taste - light, delicious, and just the right amount of sweet. This isn't your typical sugar saturated cake that makes you nauseous afterwards. You will not regret your decision, this cake is worth every penny. Just contact her well in advance because she books up fast!!!

I was extremely disappointed with this cake. It was dry, tasted old, and the jam wasn't fresh at all. The decoration was sloppy--you could see folds and holes in the design, and it looked nothing like what I had asked for. What made it worse was being told last-minute (on the same day!) that there would be "slight changes," but the final result looked awful. I expected something beautiful for my 35th birthday cake, based on the promises made, but unfortunately, you did not deliver. I would never order a cake from your shop again, and highly recommend others to stay away. If you want something nice, move on to the next cake maker. After speaking to Daphne she did give me half my money back but I had no dessert for my special day and guests!

Daphne and team did such an amazing job on the custom cake I ordered for my friend's "dumpling themed" baby shower. I was desperately trying to find a bakery who could take a custom order on short notice when my other shop fell through, and Daphne responded so quickly! They were able to turn around the order with only 5 days of notice and totally saved me. The cake got SO many compliments on the day of and was legitimately delicious. Not too sweet, moist (but not wet), with a generous serving of cream and fruit inside. I had leftovers a few days later - still delicious! The team even provided instructions on how to properly cut and serve. Thanks DH!!! Would highly recommend.

My 5 year old daughter picked an inspiration photo of a cake she wanted that was honestly disappointing to me but I didn't want to say no to her so I told her I will send the photo to the cake maker and she will put her creative twist on it. I asked DH Cake to make an elevated version of the cake picture we sent her and she fully delivered. I was blown away when I went to pick it up and my daughter and husband could not stop gushing over the cake when I brought it home. Of course all the guests could not speak enough praise about the beauty and the taste of the delicious cake. DH Cake did an impressive job packaging the cake as well. I had to transport the cake first to my house, then to the party venue and it traveled really well. We will definitely order more cakes for future events. Thank you very much!

I gave Daphne a picture of a pickle cake I liked for a pickled themed birthday for my son and asked for something similar. Daphne said "no problem, we'll make it even better," and did she ever! Cake looked AMAZING! We loved it. My favorite part was the detail that went into the "ends" of the pickle. Such great quality! The taste...perfection as well! Not too sweet, great cookies and cream mousse. We were so happy with the result! It was eaten completely! Fondant wasn't too thick. Layered beautifully (not enough time to take pics of that. Oops) SHE EVEN DID "PICKLE JUICE" spillage with sugar. Amazing. Can't recommend Daphne enough. This was our first custom cake ever and we will definitely be reaching out to Daphne in the future.

DH Cake Studio masters the craft of exquisite custom cakes, with prompt & professional delivery! The total package experience, ***** out of *****, outstanding ovations!!! If you seek a creative cake artist who insightfully inspires dreams in others while aspiring to achieve her own best, look no further than DH Cake Studio. This is far more than the typical run-of-the-mill boring & bored bake shop's "hi, I need a birthday cake for my kid's birthday party." Then an unmotivated employee grudgingly brings you a big, dubious looking 3-ringed binder and tells you to look, pick & choose what you want from various garish designs from plastic laminated pages covered with sticky smudged fingerprints....which leaves one wondering...when was the last time the bakery even bothered to check & disinfect their own "custom cakes" book, or even acknowledge their customers with a bit of service?! However, I digress. That was my initial search experience after hoofing it to several bakeries which are popular for their birthday cake orders. No, thank you. I will roll the dice, shuffle the cards & take my chances with the unknown on Yelp. The Yelp gamble gave me a wildcard ace. ;) Daphne goes out of her way to provide her clientele with a unique, highly detail oriented process and experience. In my case, this spanned several hours of questioning, trying to understand exactly the specifics on who she would be designing and building the cake for, what it would project to its main audience, how many it would serve, how many tiers, where would the venue be, where would the cake be set & how long the cake would be out before it would be cut and served, how the flavors should be (buttercream vanilla, not too sweet, subtle yet flavorful - the perfect blend & highest quality). These are all the sorts of questions only the best will ask - and she did! The main cake was beyond exceptional when it was hand delivered, and it went far and way well above & beyond every expectation I imagined. It was, in fact, the astonishing show-stopping masterpiece. The most gorgeous cake I've ever seen or tasted. It was followed by 3 dozen mini cupcakes, vanilla and chocolate flavored, with exquisitely beautiful small flowers icing designed on top. Simply incredible. Nearly every parent at the party wanted to know all the devilish details: stopping to take photos of the cake, asking who made it, what shop I got it at, complimenting on how gorgeous it looked, how delightful and amazing it tasted....I suspect that DH Cake Studio shall be receiving quite a bit of well deserved orders soon from many families seeking special memories! read more

If you want to find the best cakes and treats for your party in the Bay Area look no further! I needed a personalized cake, pop cakes and cookies for my son's first birthday party. I look for vendors two months in advance, but lots of them were already fully booked or had supplies issues due to COVID. Daphne was the best, I reached out to her with some rough ideas of what I wanted and she graciously worked with me. Her price and turnaround times were competitive, and payment was pretty very convenient (PayPal). The day of delivery she was very flexible, and all treats came out as expected. Nothing but great things to say about DH Cake Studio! She delivers and does not disappoint! First time as parent and first time to host a party for our sweet girl who turned one. It was very important that the cake is perfect. We sent Daphne an image for inspiration and described the party theme. She gave creative suggestions for us to think about. We were open to her suggestions and did not hesitate. When we saw the final product not only was it perfect, but she also nailed the theme! Her creative suggestion made the cake extra ordinary. Creatively she captured what we wanted and more! The cake was not only gorgeous, but it was also delicious. The cake was perfectly moist and not super-sweet. I've been following DH Cake Studio facebook page for years and always wanted to order a cake from Daphne, but I lived out of state. This year I finally got a chance to order a cake for one of my family member. Communicating with Daphne was pretty easy, I told her what I was inmagining for, and she asked me couple more questions - that's it :) I didn't ask her what she planned to make for us because from seeing her portfolio over years, I trust that she's going to make it great, and SHE DID! The cake looked fantastic (and funny, which was what I wanted), and all of us were impressed when we saw it. The cake was delicious. Daphne was so great to work with. She was pretty booked but she was able to squeeze in my order for my daughter's first birthday. I had a circus theme for my daughter's party, I showed Daphne the invitation and she came up with an idea for the cake based on the invitation. I had requested and old Chevy pick up truck to be driven by a unicorn. She blew it out away! She did everything exactly the way I asked and even went above and beyond by adding working headlights! I found DH cake studio through Instagram and must I say, WOW!!!! They totally made my daughters 1st bday party special! The cake was beautiful and to top it off DELICIOUS! I ordered birthday cake from Daphne and she gave me very helpful tips during the design phase based on what design I like, party size and my budget. She also accommodate my schedule change and let me pick up the cake 1 week earlier than originally scheduled. The cake is awesome and the kids love it! My daughter really love the cake and she also accommodate my ask to use less sugar to make it more suitable for my toddler. People kept asking me where I ordered the cake from. What I had: - Lychee Matcha (double matcha, regular sweet, regular ice) - Yuzu Matcha (double matcha, regular sweet, regular ice). Double matcha was not overly strong or caffeinating to me (love that they do not charge extra for this option btw)- my caff tolerance I'd say is relatively high or above average for sure. Surprisingly, at that matcha level the taste is not overly bitter at all. And the regular sweet is perfect (I normally get 50% sweet at boba shops). Same with the ice level, I think their regular ice level is fine (I normally get less ice at boba shops). The Lychee matcha has great lychee taste, not artificial tasting, it's a great blend of both lychee + matcha. The Yuzu is leaning towards the 'lemonade' profile without being overly citrusy. More refreshing than the lychee matcha, but both are refreshing anyways due to the nature of their flavors! I think I prefer the lychee matcha normally, honestly hard to say which flavor is better! I thoroughly enjoyed both these drinks! Their flavors are blended well with the matcha- not overly sweet in flavor, and matcha is great quality while not overly powerful or bitter. The service is great, and they make your drinks very fast. The taste is very consistent, and they do have a large menu with lots of different items other than matcha. My only downside is the variety of matcha over the recent year. From last year and this year, the menu for matcha has not changed much, and it seems like I get the same taste every time I go. While the first time was enjoyable, after it just gets repetitive. I love Izumi, but I really wish there was a rotation between drinks.

The first time I got the Ha Noi Mist and the Lychee Rose, the second time I got the Ha Long Sunset and a limited stock warm specialty dessert with pandan and ube dumplings in a ginger coconut sauce. The Ha Noi Mist's ingredients sounded the most aligned with my personal preferences and I got the Lychee Rose to try something different but refreshing on a warm summer night. I was hesitant to get the Ha Long Sunset since I'm not a fan of jackfruit but Eric voted for it, and also the dumplings since a ginger coconut sauce sounds weird but he said that's what he wanted. Sipping che through a straw definitely beats spooning it. Make sure to thoroughly mix the drink and crush up the ice a bit before indulging. On my first visit I didn't notice the kiosk and ordered with the cashier so I was confused at how I would know when my order is ready because I didn't get a number or a receipt, but I later noticed the screens displaying that information on the wall. I'm a big fan of pandan jelly. The red pearls can be good but can sometimes have a bit of a crunchy chew in the center. Young coconut has a good flavor but a texture that isn't my favorite. I did not like the jackfruit in the Ha Long Sunset, but the flavor wasn't strong enough to ruin the whole dessert. I feel like che is a dessert that is not necessarily expensive or time consuming to produce, and the milk tea/fruit tea prices here are definitely on the pricey end given their component ingredients. Yes I would revisit, especially when I need dessert late, but I feel that making che at home could be the cost-effective alternative.
