Wife and I had a sudden urge for some BBQ and decided to try out Dickey's. Wow!! I have a super finicky 12yr old and immediately upon entry she frowned and said "just get me beans and bread". We ordered two rib plates, pork and chicken sandwiches for our other girls, and an extra plate for the finicky one to house her sides and one rib which I forced on her. The next think I know, we're battling for the remaining ribs on my plate!! Nothing was left to consume and Karen was so friendly and generous with the extra frys. Totally my favorite BBQ place now! I was excited to have a bbq pit open in elk grove! We needed something like this. Im always craving bbq and was glad it had opened. The fam & I came here yesterday for dinner. It Gets packed pretty quick. The BBQ Beef brisket was pretty good. The sides are delicious & the price wasn't too bad at all! I love that they have free ice cream cones. I came here for BBQ!!!! They were about to close so I ordered togo....I ordered 1 meat place that comes with 2 sides, Marinated chicken breast and creamy coleslaw, bake potato casserole. The Chicken was a little bit dry but it had a good taste to it. The coleslaw was okay. And the bake potato casserole was like mashed potato with chunks of potato in it. Also ordered a side of fried orka, which was nice & crispy. When you walk in they have a sign that tells you to text for a FREE YELLOW souvenir cup. So I got a FREE LARGE drink. They have the best slushy ice. They have a jar of juicy plumped pickles, and forgot to mention the free soft-serve ice cream machine right when you walk in so that you dont forget to grab a cone before you leave!! The machine had just run out of cream when we were leaving...but the nice manager Thomas said it would only take 30 second to fill up. He was right!!! =) When we got home, come to find out they forgot my fried green beans w/ bacon. =( I called them back & the manager told me that I could come back out & pick it up if i wanted. I ate here for the first time this past Saturday. Keep in mind that my opinion on BBQ and anything Home cooked may be a little bias given that I am from the south. The BBQ was decent, very tender. I liked the baked potato casserole but the Mac N Cheese didn't cut it for me. I prefer more of a homemade Mac and not the kind that is put in an sauce/artificial. Karen is a great host/server. Very friendly atmosphere, can be loud at times especially when you order the amazing brisket. The chicken is super tender and juicy. The cheddar sausage is good as well. And Sunday's are especially awesome because kids eat free, but you have to buy a plate with sides to get that. If you like BBQ you'll surly like Dickey's BBQ. read more

Not impressed, sorry. We ordered to go, two 2-meat plates: sliced brisket (dry) and ribs (decent) and brisket chopped (dry) with the chicken (dry). Not enough flavor at all. Where's all the meat? Portions were on the small side. I felt like I was eating a kids meal. The bbq sauce was sparse and surprisingly they didnt pack any to go for us. I guess they assume we didn't need it, but the meat was dry, so we definitely needed it. I mean isn't the brisket the fattiest cut? That's what we look forward to when we eat barbecue. Anyway for the sides we had the green beans (good) waffle fries (good) potato salad (a bit much on the dill) and ceasar salad (with way too much dressing and not enough salad). Noticed Dickey's signage early this week so stopped in today for lunch. WOW! A Texas barbecue in Elk Grove. Had two single-meat plates, one with ham and the other with sliced brisket. Both meats were perfectly cooked, and the brisket almost dissolved on my tongue. Ham was excellent as it was moist, not dry. Our side were coleslaw, Mac and cheese, and beans with jalapeños. The coleslaw was moist but lacking flavor, but the other two sides made up for it. BBQ sauces for the plates are in a steam table by the soda fountain for self-service: Texas style with 'sweet', 'Dickies' original', and 'spicy'. All three were very good. There is also a "no limit" pickle jar of large dill pickles. Soft serve ice cream cones are also free with sandwiches and plates. It is counter service so think Subway, Chapolte, et.al. All of the employees were attentive and well trained and friendly. Nice first visit, and we are taking friends there for lunch tomorrow. read more

First time here, decided to get the three meat platter. Ribs- ok, brisket -dry, but the kielbasa was on point. Also got cream of spinach and baked beans. Both sides were delicious. Staff was friendly. Bonus points bc kids eat free on Sundays. Definitely will be back to try other selections. read more

We ordered one kids meal for our two kids to share (this was a Friday but on Sunday's kids eat free) and she brought us another plate and threw in an extra roll so each kid could have one. Father's day at Dickey's BBQ in Elk Grove = poor planning and poor customer service! I went online to place my order and received a message saying online ordering was unavailable. I called to place a phone order and was told they would not take a phone order on a holiday. I arrived at the restaurant, at approximately 5:15 pm and waited in line for 1/2 an hour to be told when it was finally my turn, they were out of brisket...and pulled pork, chicken, ribs, and turkey! You would think that a restaurant that has been in business on a holiday before would know how much product to prepare and have on hand so as to not run out of everything except sausage before 6 pm. You would also think that in this unfortunate situation good customer service would have been to check the customers in line for their anticipated orders before they reach the front of the line so they could be informed of the lack of product available before wasting 1/2 hour of their time. And even without those 2 best business practices, treating customers with respect and not rudeness should be a #1 priority, unfortunately that was not the case. I won't be back. read more

They forgot my side dish, the turkey for my son was so charred he couldn't eat most of it, and my ribs, such a disappointment. I asked for larger containers for the sauce and was restricted to one small container for over $50 of meat. We begged and got one more.
