We appreciated that we select the sauces as the meat came smoked without sauce. Their baked beans were a meal in it of itself. The Mac and cheese was not as creamy as we would like, but the bowl was empty when we left. My only complaint is that they have no restaurants where we live in Southern California! Maybe since we're known as "southern" CA, they'll consider expanding to our community?

Street parking is limited, but we got lucky and found a spot close by. When we went in, we asked to sit at the bar, which was empty at the time, and we were able to watch the football game. The bartender greeted us quickly and took our drink order while we looked over the menu. We noticed the pimento cheese appetizer and asked how it was. The bartender recommended the jalapeño version and suggested getting pork rinds instead of crackers, mentioning we could do a half order of the pork rinds, so we went with that. For our meal, we shared the two-meat plate with brisket and ribs, and chose mac and cheese and beans as our sides. The appetizer came out sizzling and popping, which looked great. The pork rinds were just okay. Personally, I would have preferred them cut thinner and simply salted instead of seasoned with BBQ seasoning. The pimento cheese wasn't my favorite -- there wasn't much pimento, and even with jalapeños it wasn't spicy. I wouldn't order it again. When our food arrived, everything looked good. I started with the mac and cheese -- it was decent but lacked the crispy, browned cheese topping. The beans looked excellent, but once I started chewing them, they seemed undercooked and too firm. When I mentioned it to the bartender, I was told that's how they're supposed to be, but I think they would be better cooked a bit longer to soften them up. The brisket was very moist and had good flavor, but it was only lukewarm. I asked if the meat is always served that way, and the bartender explained that it's smoked and then kept warm. We were expecting pork ribs but received beef ribs instead. They were good, the bones were large and the meat was very hard on the outside but tender under neither. They were brushed with sauce to look great. We did look at dessert -- they looked very good and the portions are large. The peanut butter pie in particular looked great, but it's definitely big enough for three people. Overall, we were disappointed. The sides and meats were only lukewarm, and when we brought it up, we were told that's just how the food is served there. Unfortunately, it wasn't for us, and we likely won't be back. There's so many other places in Myrtle to try.

Shortly after arriving, my mother and sister came out of the restroom and noticed they were getting stared at by multiple servers and even some customers. One interaction really stood out. An older server with brown hair was walking by carrying waters. My sister smiled, apologized, and politely stepped out of her way. Instead of acknowledging her, the server gave her a very cold stare and continued walking without saying a word. It immediately made the atmosphere feel uncomfortable. The server assigned to our table, a blonde woman wearing a white bow, wasn't welcoming either. From the moment she greeted us, she never smiled and seemed like she just wanted to get through the interaction as quickly as possible. Throughout our meal, she never once came across as warm or friendly. As for the food, it was good overall, but all of our steaks were a bit salty, especially my mother's. To the manager's credit, they replaced the steaks, and I appreciate that they tried to make it right. The replacement steak was a little undercooked, but we chose not to say anything else because, by that point, we already felt uncomfortable and didn't want to make the situation any more awkward. The part that made us feel the most uneasy happened while we were paying. Our server kept looking over at us very intensely. Two other servers standing nearby, one printing our receipt while talking with another employee, also continued looking over at us. Whether intentional or not, it made us feel very uncomfortable. Another thing we noticed was that one of the songs being played in the restaurant contained a racial slur, which didn't help the atmosphere. I'm only sharing what my family personally experienced. I was hoping I could actually get a seat at the bar. I walked in and saw the two young hostesses and told them I wanted to have some dinner at the bar. They said go right ahead. The bar was crowded but there were still some seats left. I took a seat at the far of the bar where I can watch the action and see the TVs. Most people at the bar were also having dinner, not just drinks and the dining room itself was pretty crowded. The barmaid/server came right over to me as soon as I sat down asked me if I needed a menu and what I was having to drink. I ordered a water and a Heineken zero and told her I already knew what I wanted. I ordered the chopped sirloin, smothered in onions and mushroom gravy with a side of green beans and a house salad with blue cheese dressing. She took the order and then came back quickly with a bottle of beer and a glass of water. Now Logan's is one of the few places that has the special wooden tray that they give you to eat at the bar as it evens out the rail with the top. She brought the tray and then within seconds my salad appeared and their special buttered roll. Salad was fresh with mostly Romaine lettuce, some chopped tomatoes, cucumber, shredded cheese and real blue cheese dressing with chunks of blue cheese crumbled inside. The salad was topped with little pieces of bacon. The roll came out hot and glistening as it seems they basted it with butter before serving it. They also give you two little cups of whipped butter on the side. I dug into the salad, which was excellent. It was very fresh and the blue cheese dressing was top-notch. I then looked at the buttered roll and decided I will take a bite(I've been watching my weight lately and have been trying to eat less carbs!). The role was still warm, however, it was very greasy and kind of bland and really didn't need any additional butter. It was decent, but nothing to write home about. Finishing my salad, I took a look around the bar. I noticed some very happy couples, dress casually and enjoying their meals. The TVs were turned to the Islander game, which was great as I am a New Yorker and went to college right next-door to the Nassau Coliseum during their hay day. Within a few minutes, the main course arrived and the barmaid placed the plate right in front of me, on that special leveling tray and asked if I needed anything else. I assured her everything was fine. The plate was full with a large portion of ground sirloin, smothered with onions and mushroom gravy and a side dish of green beans, plated right next to it. I tried the green beans first which were decent. I felt they were a little bland, but were cooked well. My attention then turn to the ground sirloin and boy was it good. Still warm and cooked medium with tasty sautéed onions and a real mushroom gravy containing large chunks of mushrooms covering the steak. I think I finish it in about 10 minutes. One thing to know is this place is very old school. The meal came with a plastic steak marker jammed into the ground sirloin stating it was medium and you are greeted by a case of refrigerated steaks as you walk in, so you can see the different cuts. It was like going to a place with my folks in the 1970's. I was half expecting to see big barrels of peanuts in the shell, which I believe they used to have there many years ago. Even though this place is a chain is still a great spot for a good, wholesome, hardy dinner. My meal was around $25 and worth every penny. It will definitely be part of my regular rotation going forward. It's a solid 4 star stop and you won't leave hungry.
