The food was good but I was shocked at how rude the staff was....and they were not busy so not real sure why they were so rude.

My meal was scrumptious and affordable. I had the quarter plate with mac and cheese and cole slaw. The mac and cheese was really cheesy. The roll that came with my meal was yummy. I made a little bbq sandwich out of it. The best part of my meal was the bbq. So delectable. I doused it with the hot and spicy sauce. My mouth is still watering just thinking about it. Ordered in on a rainy night in Myrtle Beach. We got the family meal for 4 which was 2 meats (pulled pork and got sausage) and 3 sides (green beans with bacon, fried okra, and Caesar salad) and hot rolls. We were all very pleased with it. Picked up from here yesterday and had a large order to taste test. Most everything was good but, with a few tweaks could be great. I'll start with the sides first. The dill potato salad could have been great. Too much sour cream (improper measurement?) over powered the dill but, the biggest offense was the over cooked potatoes. It was more like cold mashed potatoes with some chunks. The jalapeño beans had the perfect spice but, needed salt and onion. Too bland to be tasty. The cole slaw was very good although I like mine with a touch of powdered mustard. The meats: The ribs were a great disappointment. I couldn't decide if they were cooked the day before and just sat under heat lamps all day or just plane over cooked...or both. They are tasty, so the flavor profile is very good but, they are very dry and totally over cooked. Lower the heat and not so long in the pit is my suggestion. The brisket's flavor profile is great but, I don't like it chopped. It should be sliced so I can pick my favorite parts. Again I'm concerned the pit is a touch too hot. The jalapeño and cheddar sausage is totally on point. Great job. I feel the cooks are cooks and there is no love in the food. It could be great with these tweaks. We ordered the XL Family Pack as "take out" and it was an epic fail! We additionally ordered extra ribs as well. Unfortunately, about half of all of the ribs were charred, burned beyond any expectation of being edible. The pulled pork was dry but palatable with extra barbecue sauce. The mac and cheese was OK as were the green beans. The only stand out food item was the baked potato casserole. Had we eaten there instead of "take out", we certainly would have sent it back. The ribs were obviously burned and we couldn't even separate several of them. Quality control and better management may provide a better and consistent dining experience. read more

It was early and we were among 1st customers, temperature was a bit cool for everything except the potato salad was warm. 8 hours later both are in the E.R. getting I.V. and anti-vomiting meds. Some of the best BBQ I have ever had! My fiance and I ate here while on vacation, and ended up chatting with the owner. He was very nice, and we found out that he went to collage near our hometown. NR. BBQ is an area of food that I have a wide range of experience eating and have eaten at many of the best places in the country. That being said I walked into Dickey's with low expectations but still optimistic. There was an elderly man cutting the meat and I ordered sliced brisket and pork. He proceeded to cut/tear off a piece of brisket, cut off all the bark, then squished what was left onto the cutting board with the palm of his hand. He picked the meat up which looked like a ball of mush and put it on the plate. What I just witnessed was nothing short of criminal. He cut off the best part of the meat then mashed it and squeezed it. In all my years of eating brisket I have never seen anyone slice a brisket in such fashion. This leads me to believe this is a lone wolf type situation not a corporate training issue. The rest of the food was average but I cannot and refuse to give an accurate rating to a place that disrespects brisket in this way. read more

Stop by while driving through. I had to urge for some brisket, and this was one of the only bbq restaurants that actually had some available. I got an order of brisket and ribs. Well needless to say the brisket was very disappointing.....It was dry and flavorless. Thank goodness I got some ribs also, because they were actually pretty darn good. Get some ribs, but in my opinion pass on the brisket. For my sides I got the Mac n cheese and bbq baked beans. The Mac was ok, nothing special, (definitely not homemade). The beans though we're pretty good. The female staff was very friendly, but they guy working either was racist or just needs to work on his customer service. I had their ribs and polish sausage, both were pretty good, the ribs were tender and not too salty. The first time I went I got coleslaw and waffle fries for sides, the coleslaw was okay not so great and the waffle fries were pretty good, nicely seasoned. I tasted my friends Mac and cheese, it wasn't that good, edible but not something you'll crave. Your best bet when it comes to sides is the waffle fries. They also offer free Ice cream cones, I don't think it's vanilla but it was okay, not too sweet just right. read more

I usually stay away from chains but I decided to try it after passing it 100 times, also when I looked it up online I could order and pay before I got there which is awesome! I was surprised! Their pork and brisket were really good! Only reason they didn't get 5 stars is because, menu states sliced brisket and they chop it to peices. But it tastes so good it doesn't matter. Not much flavor service was confusing and I noticed the toaster had a cleaning rag ( it was well used dirty greasy nasty) where the buns dropped off and the girl in front of me got a sandwich which the bun landed right on that rag which the girl making the food used anyways. I had the half rack of ribs not much of the meat was edible lots of gristle and dry my fried okra was ok but walmarts deli has better. here is what earns it three stars the manager was making sure his employees was doing there job correct. It was clean otherwise which is why the rag was dirty and used haha. And the fact you can get ice cream and ba sauce where you get fountain drinks was enjoyable I made a root beer float. read more

My experience at Dickey's Barbecue was amazing!!! The customer service was amazing very helpful to those who have never been there. We went during there grand opening and the staff showed us around and showed us where to get everything. Very helpful on how the menu worked (different from most places we've been) the food was amazing!!! They have sizes for everyone!! It was just enough food for me and my boyfriend who eats a lot more lol! The price is very affordable for families! They had deals during there grand opening. This food is amazing. We have never tried it. Our kid wanted bbq last night of vacation. Found this on here and decided to try. We had pulled pork, brisket, chicken, Mac and cheese, okra and potato casserole. Everything was so amazing. Each meat was super tender and cooked just right. The Mac and cheese and okra were the best. The original sauce was our favorite (hot wasn't hot enough). Only bad point I would say is on menu try to add prices. Would help people from out of town better decide. Will make this a place to eat every vacation. read more

Dickey's Barbecue is the best in Myrtle Beach! So consistent, always, always great food. The staff are so personable and they have a good rewards program for meals and discounts. I eat there at least 4 to 5 times a week. In the past I ate there 12 days in a row, that's just how good this food is prepared. Had take out with their family pack. Selected pulled pork and brisket. You get 3 sides and biscuits and a whole lotta barbecue sauces to go. I'm taking three different types and more than enough too. So let me tell you this, the brisket is just wonderful. Tender and flavorful, so good. The pulled pork was also very good, but I prefer the brisket. The baked beans are perfect. More than enough meat for 4 people. So for just shy of $40 fed the whole family some damm good barbecue. If you're in the area, would definitely check them out.
