The fragrance of BBQ was a sign we were in store for a tasty meal. When we mentioned to the lovely woman at the register that this was our first visit, she came to our side of the counter and gave us a great description of the menu and history of the restaurant. That level of service continued throughout our dining experience from meal pickup through table service and then when we left. It was obvious to us that the employees enjoyed their work and wanted to represent their brand with pride. We ordered a pulled chicken sandwich, a one item dish of pulled pork and two sides which was more than enough to share. The meat was perfectly smoked and flavorful. We appreciated that we select the sauces as the meat came smoked without sauce. Their baked beans were a meal in it of itself. The Mac and cheese was not as creamy as we would like, but the bowl was empty when we left. My only complaint is that they have no restaurants where we live in Southern California! Maybe since we're known as "southern" CA, they'll consider expanding to our community? read more

I tried the Pulled Chicken Sandwich and the Mac n cheese. For the quality, I do believe it is a little on the pricey side, but it was delicious nonetheless. If they didn't have all the great sauces on the table it would be a 4, but the service was speedy, the individual working the floor was very kind and considerate, and overall the place is just a vibe. We popped in for lunch while passing through. As a celiac, I was very impressed- gluten free sauces, gluten free meats, gluten free sides, AND gluten free fries (not in a shared fryer!). Hubs and I shared a three meat sampler with a side of fries and coleslaw. The brisket was so tender with delicious crust, the pulled pork and ribs were excellent and tender. Fries were delicious and truly GF (thank you Mission BBQ!!). Coleslaw was also good and balanced the meats well. Kids had the pulled pork sandwich and the burger (best burger ever was declared!). Ate most of my meal without sauces because the meat was that good. Ambience was fantastic and staff were really helpful and friendly. Next time we are in SC, we will come back! read more

Definitely try the Alabama White and Baha Bold sauces...they'll make you wonder what took you so long to try it. This was my first time trying Mission BBQ, and I was thoroughly impressed! I ordered the baby back ribs with cole slaw. The meal came with some delicious corn bread as well. The ribs were so tender and fell right off the bone. I like that they have 6 different BBQ sauces, so you're bound to find at least one you'll like! I think the highlight of Mission BBQ for me was the waitstaff, especially Gus. He ran our food and continued to check on us throughout our meal. I declined because if I wanted to walk in, place an order & wait thats what I would have done. Thats why I called ahead for pick up. Their food is overpriced anyway. Its good but not that good. Well I was in the mood for BBQ Chicken tonight. I went to mission bbq. Absolutely horrible!!! I ordered the half a yard bird. It comes with this disgusting dry rub on it. I scraped it off and there laid the most pathetic bird I have ever seen. A nice gentleman Levi was manning the tables but by then not a lot he could due to help me by then. Wow!!! The meat falls off the bone and the taste is delicious. The price that you pay for the food is more than reasonable as you get quality, flavor and quantity beyond the cost of your meal. We had the ribs, chicken, beans, collard greens, corn bread and Mac n cheese. This restaurant also recognizes the military, police, medics and other service members with its decor and ambience. Yard bird had a great dry rub that already came on it and tasted amazing. I added some hot honey and the other suite sauce, and like chicken and that was great too. Cucumber salad was very refreshing and cold and vinegar on a hot day. Macaroni and cheese needed salt, but that was easily fixable. Highly recommended place even for picky eaters like me. Just picked up a brisket plate. The Mac and cheese and corn bread were excellent. The brisket was terrible. Dry and no flavor. The cashier asked me if I wanted it fatty or lean. I thought that was strange but I said lean. Maybe fatty would be better, but it's hard to tell someone you want fatty brisket. read more

Wow! What a place to discover for a veteran! This place has amazing atmosphere. Like walking into a USO. My wife, daughter, two grandkids and I went here for the BBQ and ratings. You order and pay up front and food is brought to your table. My wife chose the Pulled Pork plate, our daughter a salad, one grandkid a Pulled Pork sandwich and the other Pork Sliders. Me, they had something I haven't had for 40+ years, a Juicy Lucy! All the food was great. My Juicy Lucy was smoked instead of fried. Nice crust without the cheese being hot melted. I must admit I took awhile looking around at all the service related paraphernalia. The final surprise came when our excellent waitress brought me a special dessert. The brisket and other food at Mission is excellent and always has been. But I'd like to tell you about something called "service". I pulled up at 8:55 pm on a Friday night as they were closing and ran in to ask if I could get a plate to go. They were happy to oblige. I went back to the car to get my purse, then went in to pay. It is now about 9:05 pm. The shopping complex is dark and empty. I find I have locked my keys in the car. I am a senior lady, and felt so helpless. The manager was a young man named Curtis Morton, who calmed me and assured me it was not going to be a problem and we'd get help. I can't even tell you how nice this man was. He called the police department first and they flatly refused. They were about a half mile away, NMB was near deserted, and it would have taken them all of 10 minutes to get my car unlocked. So much for public service. He then called 2 different locksmiths who left us hanging for over an hour each to call and say they didn't have anyone to send. So I called the police dept again and literally pleaded with them to help. Again, refusal, but suggested I call Allen's Towing. It is now 11 pm and this young man was still in his closed restaurant refusing to turn me out into the night alone. The lady at Allen's Towing had a young man there in 15 minutes who popped open my car in another 5 minutes. Meanwhile, it is after 11pm and this sweet young man has kept me safe for 2 hours past his closing time. He stood by and watched until the door was unlocked and I was ok. Mission BBQ has a reputation for honoring vets and first responders. Turns out they themselves represent the best in caring service to the public as well as some of the best barbeque in the state. Mission BBQ is the best of the best. And their night manager, Curtis, is a credit to their excellence. read more

We had Mission BBQ cater my husband's 80th birthday. He is a Vietnam veteran and Mission always gives back to the community veterans and first responders so O chose to us them. Can you believe we visited Mission BBQ THREE TIMES in ONE WEEK?!? Yep, we did! Their delicious food was a hit with three generations. Seniors liked the meat plates with yummy slaw. Adults liked the meat plates with macaroni, and the granddaughters ate salmon and a brisket sandwich. Fresh iced tea and fountain drinks are good, too. WOW! I am super impressed with Mission BBQ! Large portions and supper tender juicy Brisket. Some of the best I have ever had aside of smoking my own. The collard greens were without a doubt the best I have ever had, I even crumbled some cornbread in the pot liquor after the greens were gone. I almost bought a tub to take home with me. The potato salad was also very good. Its made with dill pickles instead of sweet pickles. I prefer dill. The sauces were also excellent. The Tupelo Honey Heat being my favorite. Very inconsistent. Sometimes it's really great and sometimes I tell myself that's the last time I'll have that. The last time I went I got their bbq brisket sandwich and it was great. The fries were nicely seasoned as well. The staff I felt like was looking at me but I guess not much to do when the restaurant was pretty empty and I was standing off to the side waiting for my food. Super great concept of the place supporting all those in uniform or previously have done so. Wanted to love this place a lot more than I did. For a party of 2, our order was supposed to be 5 baby back ribs and the 2 meat platter (brisket and pulled chicken) with the 3 sides. The cashier heard me incorrectly and gave us 10 ribs instead, increasing the bill. I mean thank goodness for his mistake because we needed more meat due to the fact that the brisket and pulled chicken portions were barely enough to feed one person. The ribs were very tender and I loved the southern belle sauce that was on the table out of all 6 provided. Brisket was a little tougher than expected and obviously less than we wanted. Lastly, the pulled chicken was so good and juicy! But there was just so little of it. The sides were okay, nothing special. Favorite out of the 3 was probably the baked beans. Food is really good especially their vegetables/sides. They sides are seasoned very well and have a down home southern flair. The peach cobbler is also very good. The meats are good but I personally don't think that is where they shine because I don't feel as though the meat is over the top. How I rate them: Rating scale - 1 - 5 (1 being bad and 5 bring excellent) 1) Bbq chicken - 4 (It was good but it looked totally burnt on the outside) 2) bbq pork sandwich - 5 Large amount given, moist & flavorful) 3) bbq pork ribs - 5 Flavorful, moist but too expensive for the amount you get 4) green beans - 5 Exceptional flavor, very good. Note they do contain bacon & onion. My son does not like onion but he ate these and complemented on how good they were 5) Mac & cheese - 5 Flavorful, cheesy and had that home baked taste. Note - there is bread crumbs on top of the Mac & cheese 6) home cut fries - 4 Good portion, they really are hand cut fries. Seasoning good 7) peach cobbler - 5 Yummy but very sweet.
