This place is one of the most unprofessional and disgusting places I have ever been to. When the managers aren't yelling at their employees in full view of the public, expletives and all, you can see them wiping sweat off their heads right before using their hands to get your overpriced food. This is the second Dickey's location I have visited and it is on par with the other that I first got hooked on. This is a fast-food type BBQ joint and for what it is, the BBQ is usually very good. My go-to is the smoked chicken breast plate with mashed potatoes (ie: baked potato casserole) and coleslaw (ie: cabbage slaw). The chicken is usually super moist and tender, although on an occasion or two it has been very dry. The original Dickey's I visited also had an ice cream machine you could grab a complementary cone from but this location does not. The staff are nice here but not overly friendly like the experience I am familiar with at Dickey's. Overall, this location is good and I will be back but wish the meat was consistently delicious. read more

First time here, 6pm on a Saturday. Only three tables and six other total customers. Clean place with an odd layout. Figured out what to order and how. Our take-out was put together fairly quickly. We tried a bit of everything. Overall fair quality; meats a bit dry - added my own sauces at home. Didn't realize we needed to apparently ask for same. The Mac n Cheese was really good. Baked beans OK. Overall smaller portions than I expected for a bit more money than I thought reasonable. Famous Dave's takeout is a bit more, but a lot better. read more

Pros: Good food, reasonable prices , friendly staff, clean place. Cons (compared to other Dickey's): No salad, loaded baked potato or soft serve station; poor layout-I wouldn't have noticed the daily specials if I hadn't looked for them as I've been to another location; frequent diner keypad has been down the several times I've been there; space is cramped when getting your drink and condiments; no paper towel on the tables. I eat at Dickey's at least once a week. Even though this location is closer, I'll generally drive the longer distance to the Dickey's on 5 Mile. read more

Wow. As in how disappointed can a girl get. Brisket was awesome, baked beans were the best I've ever had. That's it. Ribs were dry, Mac & cheese was downright nasty, rolls were a joke and it kind of goes downhill from there. What a shame. We had such high hopes too. Was very satisfied with my food. I have been to another location a few times in the past so I knew what to expect. I only knock one star off for the price, while it is not expensive it isn't very cheap either. 2 half pound cuts of meat (pulled pork + brisket), 4 sides and 2 rolls came out to just under $24.00 with tax. I first tried Dickey's BBQ during a business trip to Texas so was happy to see one open close to home. Generally speaking the food is good - the meats have good flavor and the sides are decent but not spectacular. I also like the sauces, although the "sweet" is almost too sugary. But to be honest, I was a little disappointed in the prices relative to portion size. There's definitely no deals here and for $13 the 2-meat dinner was really overpriced for what you got. Charge me $8-9 for the same amount of food and I'd likely come back more often. But for now, I think there are better options nearby that provide a better value. read more

I felt compelled to write an updated review since the last several times I've visited this location the meats have been great. Bang for the barbecue buck, they have become my favorite neighborhood quick fix for barbecue. In fact, I now rank their meats above Famous Dave's. I know that's not saying much but when you consider the cost difference, it means I would choose them over Famous Dave's 9 out of 10 times. And that's only because I like Famous Dave's burgers. Whatever you do, don't look too hard behind the counter - this place is SO dirty! I wouldn't go so far as to say filthy - because the dining area isn't too bad. But UGH - food prep & serve area - gross gross gross. Also, one of the guys behind the counter put on plastic gloves to pack up my side dish choices - okay - nice job. But than he proceeded to bat the cardboard containers around (with the top-side DOWN) on the dirty, gross counter, BEFORE he put the food in them. I have been to the Dickey's in Commerce and Warren and like them. This one is different. The first difference I noticed is they sprinkled some dry seasoning on the pork. I asked about it and they said all branches are supposed to do it. Hmm. The second difference is they don't have a free soft serve machine. Hmm. And the biggest difference is the meat was just soggy. The seasoning was not a good addition. Yuck. I love pulled pork, being from Memphis I grew up with it. The Dickey's in Commerce is a 4 star to me. Not as good as Corkys but certainly has brought me back. Last difference is there was no smoker smell in this location. I think that was connected to the meat not having good flavor and just being soggy. It was like they were keeping it in a steamer to keep it warm. I won't be back. read more

Everything I have tried has been really good. Jalapeño Cheddar sausage is something I didn't think I would like but here I have to get it as one of my choices. Sides are all good. Green beans, mashed potatoes and cream spinach are ones we have tried and liked. Kids eat free on Sunday makes it a little more reasonable price wise. If you're looking for something to feed a houseful for a party, would be a good choice. Again, I think they are a little pricey but the food is good. read more

Ordered Turkey (listed as a favorite on the menu) and chicken. They were out of turkey. Settled for Polish Sausage. Both were tasty and well prepared, but for a two meat menu item, the portions felt like they came off the kiddie menu. As for sides, I wanted Mac & cheese, and green beans. Out of green beans. Ok, spinach... Out again. Finally they had potatoe salad. Never got my roll. For new customers it's confusing who to speak to, and where they want you to Stand waiting as there is no friendly atmosphere here. The one on Woodward in Ferndale or Royal Oak knows how to engage customers. The drink station was messy as ice was everywhere, as if the machine was leaking ice. Its all crowded in one spot with the BBQ sauces (amazing) and straws and lids. Two people would be in each other's way here. The napkins are a roll of paper towel that already has sauce on it from the previous customers grabbing it. Not very appetizing. Oddly, always a line waiting to order. But watch your order, they had leftover food missed on an order before me, something a to go order never got into their bag. read more

But the place had no soul, and the food was not good. I was going to go ahead and eat the food, but then I noticed there was plastic in my pulled pork. I won't be returning until things are in order. If you want Dickey's, look no further than the Plymouth location. Class act! Things that went right: -Great location -Staff was friendly Things that went wrong: -Food under cooked -Staff inexperienced.
