Do yourself a favor don't go here. The brisket had zero smoke flavor and was super dry. They don't even know how to slice a brisket. Who ever works at a bbq place and puts a dry piece of meat In a meal should be kicked out and no longer allowed back. The sausage had no snap to it and was very soggy. Then they asked when they called me if they could substitute it so I agreed since there's nothing else on the menu this is how they give me a substitute order dry as hell. Let's start with the positives. The staff was friendly and greeted us upon arrival, however they could hardly hear us speaking over the glass panels. it was also a good and easy to access location right off the 303 and Bell. The Beef Brisket was dry and *required* sauce. Luckily there are a 3 sauces to choose from, however if the 6 plastic boxes holding the sauce they were empty so I couldn't put any in my cup. I did ask for some and they refilled it, but by then my brisket was cold and dry to pull apart. The Macaroni and Cheese was bland and over cooked as well. The beans were nothing to write home about either, just beans. With the meal combo you do get a cool plastic yellow cup that you can bring home. I was overall disappointed and won't be returning - especially for the price! It was $23 after tax for that plate. read more

This is the third time we come to this dickeys and probably our last. We have given this store the benefit of the the doubt because of what we are all going through. Unfortunately, every time we come here we have been unsatisfied with our orders. The first time we ordered we ordered 30 min in advanced and when we got to the store, the order wasn't even started. They have me a drink for the delay and we went on. The second time, the order was missing 2 sides and a a plate was given to us incorrectly. We ordered the 2 meat plate and got a sandwich? Not sure how you get that mixed up unless it was someone else's food that was put In the wrong bag? Third time, we ordered food through the app just to see if it would go smoothly. I ordered the food at 520 to be ready (as the option on the app gave us 545) and when I arrived to check in for curbside, the app said that it was being prepared. We waited 10 min just in case they were busy, yet still nothing came out. I looked at the app after i checked in and it said thaT i checked in and also said the order was ready for pick up. I waited a bit then called and the gentleman who answered said that they were working on it still. Why would you put on the app that it's ready if it truly isn't? It is 612 and the food finally came out. Checked it before leaving and all is here. Only suggestion is if they're not ready or the times seem to close together, maybe the options should be every 30-45 min. This is the last time I order from here. Very Disappointed in the catering service provided by Dickey's for our annual Deer Valley Men's Golf Club meeting on 10 Dec 2024. First, the food arrived more than two hours late. Secondly, the menu was supposed to include tea and lemonade, but we had neither. Also, the food was ok, but not prepared according to what was ordered. Specifically, the brisket was sliced rather than shredded, which meant that serving portions were more difficult to manage. As a result, some of the people at the end of the line had fewer choices available. Overall, based on the comments of many of my fellow golf club members, I can tell you that the service was below expected standards for the 164 participants, considering that we spent more than $3000 for the event. Our president has reached out to you for an adjustment to that price, to no avail. I would advise our club to seriously consider an alternative for next year. read more

I like this place, Only issue I had was the ribs were not ready yet. So I ended up purchasing a pulled pork sandwich. Sandwich was good, I had chips with it. This Dickey's location is steadily improving. My first visit was after they were only open for a few weeks. The staff did not seem to know the difference between lean and moist brisket and the brisket pulled pork was just ok. This time around, the brisket was good... and paired with cole slaw and baked beans, it was a decent meal! Admittedly, the Valley has much better BBQ and I will never "love" their BBQ'd options more than some of the other local options... but their food is solid and the sides are consistent. My husband and I fell in love with Dickey's when we took a chance and tried it (we'd never heard of it before). The staff was helpful and courteous, giving us suggestions for what to try on our first visit. Though it's a little pricey, you get what you pay for - delicious BBQ and sides. Our sides were mac n cheese, bbq beans and loaded potato casserole. You can find a variety of bbq sauce near the soda machines and they have also have onions and pickles available for picking. You really can't go wrong with your order! My daughter loved that they made the food in front of you. This place is good, however their website and the way they service people is flawed! My husband ordered and paid ahead on their ridiculous and non user friendly website to pick up. When we arrive, they didn't even make it. It's made when you walk in the door. So my husband had to stand in line with all the other people who just got there and were just then ordering to pick up food that we pre-ordered just to have to wait for it to cook. I had a toddler in the car with me getting fussy! Had I known they don't cook your paid meal as soon as you place the order, we would have went somewhere else that was quicker. After driving by for well over a year today was the day I stopped to check out some BBQ. There's been quite a few BBQ spots in Surprise that have come and went and this one seems to be one that's survived. I walked in after lunch to only about three or four other late eaters like myself. Service was great and I was greeted right away. I love places that offer recommendations when you haven't been in before. The employee was very helpful and was so easy to talk to. I decided on the pulled pork sandwich plate which also came with two sides. Of course I had to try the Mac n cheese and green beans. They had a huge assortments of meats, sides and plate options. I added a drink and the price was pretty reasonable for the portions at about $14. The drink cup was even reusable and I was told that every time I bring it in it's only $1 for refills. WIN! I was pretty impressed that my food was brought out to me before I even sat down after getting my drink and choosing my bbq sauce at the counter. The bbq sauce came in three flavors original, sweet and spicy. I chose original and spicy to try them both. The original was a tad on the sweet side however very good. My favorite was the spicy and it gave my pork just the right amount of added kick. The meat was juicy and not dry like a lot of other bbq shops around. My green beans were tasty and the added pepper seasoning made me wanting more. The Mac and cheese was the least favorite part of my meal unfortunately which made me a bit sad. While there was quite a good portion and good cheesy flavor, it was pretty dried out like it had been sitting in a pot under heat too long. I would have preferred a bit more melted and gooey texture. However the noodles were cooked perfectly. All in all I'll definitely be back with the family. read more

We just ate at Dickies but when we walked in at 5:45 they said they were out of brisket, chicken, baked potatoes and fries. I really wanted the Giant baked potato, so ended up having ribs, the rest of my party had pulled pork sandwiches but they wanted the baked potato also. While we are sitting there they ran out of pulled pork and ribs. All they had left was sausage. I bet 20 people walked out without ordering. They said it would be at least an hour for meats to be done cooking in the pit. I'm not sure what happened here but seems like poor planning on someone's part. This review is mainly for walk in/take out. All I can say is that I'm happy there's one in Surprise now because I can stop by after work on the way home and grab food to go. The place is quaint, not too large. I'm thinking of bringing my staff there so we can try some of their lunch combos. I ordered the beef brisket chopped, the slow cooked pork, and the cheddar jalapeño kielbasa. I didn't get the family combo but the one smaller than that so 1lb of pork and 1/4lb each of kielbasa and beef brisket. I think it came with 4 dinner rolls. It came with 2 sides, so I went with baked beans and potato casserole which was very mashed potato-ish but awesome, just as they recommended it to be! I wouldn't compare Dickey's to the greatest BBQ ever but when you're in a bind, and want something to satiate that craving, then this is a good chain place to try. Everyone who works there was very friendly and there's so many combos you can try.. a bit salty for me this past time so just be sure to hydrate well! read more

Well, had Dickey's take out tonight because I didn't want to cook! What we brought home: brisket, pork ribs, coleslaw, green beans, and rolls. What I tried: brisket - way, way dry, one bite was it! Pork ribs - pretty good flavor, but dang was it salty; one rib was it! Green beans - flavor was ok, but they were so mushy I couldn't go for that texture (baby food)! I ordered take out from Dickey's in Surprise today and have to say I'm disappointed again. The side dishes, fried okra & baked potato casserole, were delicious however both meats, sliced brisket & ribs were very dry so dry, I couldn't finish eating the brisket. The cost of my meal was just under $30 and although I understand costs have gone up & I don't mind paying more but the food should be well prepared! This place is only really good if you get high ahead of time. DO NOT get the jalapeño baked beans please. They literally taste like water. If you do I recommend getting it mixed with the bbq baked beans so you can have a little flavor. I'm not sure if they do that but I know it's be better than just beans that taste like they were just boiled in jalapeño water. The Mac was pretty good and the brisket and ribs too. Next time I'll probably get double rib the brisket was really fatty but after I smoked I ate it all (except the beans, yes they were that bad lol). This is truly a three star place. read more
