Cracker Barrel! I was thinking it was going to be just an okay, 3 star(not great but just okay) but everything was really above average. The service and staff were all very friendly. The atmosphere was so very laid back which was relaxing for a larger family. The fried pickles breading was thicker than I was expecting but provided a nice balance and were very crispy. The steak fries were crispy from the time they brought them out to the time we packed up. My kids loved the kids meal shrimp. Not too bready and nice and crispy. The chicken sandwich was ginormous! AND crispy and still juicy. The fried chicken was tender and perfectly cooked. The Mac and cheese was creamy. The green beans were a little disappointing for me, I thought they were to acidic. The meatloaf had good depth of flavor and wasn't dry. The steak had a great sear on it and was still medium rare. Great unique Not pictured were the biscuits. We used to love Cracker Barrel breakfast, but the quality and quantity has diminished over the past few years. Today we both ordered our favorite for the last time, grandmas breakfast - two eggs, pancakes, hash brown casserole, sausage, ham and bacon. The bacon is not as thick and flavorful, the ham is a much smaller portion and so is the sausage patty. No flavor and smaller portions. (Maybe they changed vendors) I wish I could say maybe it was just this location, but this happened last time we ordered at a different location also. However, the eggs were on point, the pancakes were delicious as usual, and lastly the hash brown casserole was just as delicious as ever. So, the whole plate was not a total loss. Customer service is their saving grace every time. Today we had Leigh Ann as our server and she was on top of her game. If it wasnt for my parents liking Cracker Barrel I would never come here. My last review was 3 stars and now it should be zero. The business level was busy but starting to slow down with tables being empty around. I ordered a cheeseburger well done and it came out pink. It got taken back to be remade. So I sat there awkwardly as my parents and boyfriend ate their food. They when it finally came everyone was done or just about done and it just takes away from the experience of enjoying a meal with family. When we initially sat down it took quite some time until we were acknowledged and it was cool the manager stepped up and asked if we had drink orders in yet and we said no. Sit a spell and enjoy the fun old timey atmosphere with lots of antiques to look at: definitely one of the main reasons I enjoy coming here. And the staff is delightful too. As is browsing the general store type of shop crammed full with interesting snacks you can't easily find elsewhere, great self-care items like goat milk lotions, and plenty of seasonal items and unique fashion. But on to the food: the catfish was excellent! My meal included catfish, greens, mashed potatoes, okra, hush puppies, and biscuit/muffins (sourdough toast was from friend's meal of chicken fried steak, beans, carrots which he enjoyed too. I even took some of mine home in a container I brought with me. Plastic alert: They should ditch the disposable condiment container in favor of a reusable one since there is no need for unnecessary plastic use. You can also take a nice walk behind the business since the New River Trail is right there to help you work off that good food. read more

Tried to dine here for breakfast from out of town and had one of the absolute worst experiences at a Cracker Barrel ever. Not only was the food terrible and not cooked to order, half of it was undercooked and inedible. Service sucked, and when we were asked about it and offered a manager to "help" he showed up front arguing with his staff about the radio's mixing up with the gas station next door, then proceeds to argue with me, the customer, on every single point of disservice and unhappiness about the food that was made. When i got fed up with his bullshit and said i wasn't there to argue with him, and just was going to pay and go, he decides to "take care of it" and is gone to the back, no direction for his staff to comp a meal or do anything. I hadn't been to Cracker Barrel since I was a kid probably, but my husband's side of the fam wanted to celebrate Thanksgiving early here so we went! I love the little shop up front and how they had it decorated cute for Christmas. They were very accommodating for my almost 20 month old as well. The restaurant appeared to be clean and was surprisingly busy for a Tuesday evening! I ordered a veggie plate to share with my son, I got Mac n cheese, broccoli, hash brown casserole, a biscuit, and cornbread. My son was all about the biscuit and Mac n cheese. He loved my husbands steak fries as well. Everyone else enjoyed their food. I do think that management maybe dropped the ball a little, one server seemed to be covering the whole restaurant and no managers or anyone to help her in sight. I get that it's sick season so maybe some people were out but I felt bad for that server, especially with some pretty large groups dining in. Since we don't have a Cracker Barrel where we live, we make it a must to stop when visiting AZ. Upon entering I get struck with nostalgia and a smile always comes to my face. I love the genera store. We were greeted by two lovely hosts that told us about their specials and sat us down promptly. Our server was immediately at our table to make sure we would get drinks right away. We also ordered a new appetizer, cheesy casserole tater tots. They were fun to have as a new menu item. I ordered their Biscuit Benny with bacon. It was perfectly made and delicious. My husband ordered a skillet with steak, eggs and cheesy hash brown. He said it was excellent. It was a very generous helping. Our server was also amazing, with a pleasant and fun personality. Upon check out I took advantage of the vintage candy, and was welcomed by a lovely man at the checkout. All in all, this Cracker Barrel lived up to their excellent reputation. After being seated, we waited approximately five minutes before our server, Tryna G., came by to take our drink order and asked if we were ready to order. I let her know that we would like our drinks first and would be ready to order shortly. When Tryna returned, she took our food order. Another server later delivered our food; however, several items were missing, including gravy, biscuits, butter, and blackberry jam. Since our server did not return, I asked Cristina if she could assist us, and she kindly brought the missing items. Shortly after, Tryna G. came by, dropped off our ticket, said "have a great day," and left. She did not ask if we needed iced tea refills, a to-go box, or if everything was satisfactory. We did not see her again for the remainder of our visit. I later asked Cristina for a to-go box, which she provided, and I also informed her of the service concerns we experienced. At that point, we were the only table remaining in Tryna G.'s section, and I believe she should have checked on us before leaving. I love the Cracker Barrel pancakes, especially when they have a slight crispness to it. Got the grandma sampler and coffee. The inside is your typical CB vibe. Unfortunately, this experience is one with terrible service. The server came out with the food and it's missing a sausage. She says it's just cooking still and will bring it out separately. A bit odd but ok whatever. We started eating, and we finished all the food but I'm still missing my sausage. I mentioned it to the server that I never got my sausage. Let me start by saying my Husband loves CB because just 4 days after 9/11, at the request of a nonprofit, he drove from Southern CA to NYC to help with the NYC canine unit & was able to give them a major grant -- on the way back to CA, he stopped at a CB and the Manager, seeing his NY Police cap, refused to let him pay. He's told that story many times. But sorry, this location disappoints with every visit. A year ago, they had no fried chicken at lunch! Yesterday for breakfast, the food came out FAST but it was cold. It seems so empty when we go there, breakfast or lunch. It just feels like no one is managing there, but I love the lady in the store -- she couldn't be more welcoming. We were staying across the parking lot in the Holiday Inn Express, after several hours of driving across the country, and decided to enlighten ourselves with "dinner" at Cracker Barrel. We had been to a CB twice before, once for the meh lunch and another for the good breakfast. I was hoping for a glimpse into 'a good ol' grandma's kitchen' for this evening's supper. A country Grandma's kitchen is what I got. My wife didn't appreciate any of it; since one would think, a country kitchen would be serving "fresh from the garden" green beans, not canned. I had to explain that the country doesn't always have "fresh" during times of winter etc. So what I experienced, was a different take on what us 'country Italians' might be used to. I ordered, and we split, the meatloaf with a baked potato and "green beans". . . There was something else, perhaps a garden salad of some sort. Even the canned green beans had a unique flavor, as though not just canned. Just canned. The biscuits tasted very bold. They were what buttermilk biscuits are supposed to taste like. Just not my preference. The meatloaf was a meatloaf. Not much more needs to be said about that except the tomato BBQ sauce across the top was rather tasty. The baked potato is what we were craving after 14 days on the road, just be careful as it comes loaded. This was our final dinner on the road. Yippie! It was just a walk back to our final hotel room next door. Interesting decor inside and hanging from the ceiling. I was surprised to see old tobacco/cigarette posters on the wall. One would think these would be no longer given all of the political incorrectness of today's society. Decent food, just not something to run back to. I ordered their Thursday night special which is Turkey, stuffing, gravy, and the sides you pick. we didn't get the stuffing or the gravy, so it was just 2 very small slices of dry turkey. She was apologetic but told me to contact DD to dispute. Which I did knowing it wasn't on DD. CB made the mistake.
