Dicks is not a five star meal by any means. It is not luxury food, it is fast food. Being fast food, this earns a 5 star rating. The prices are on par with national chains but you are supporting a local company that works hard to support the community and their employees. Knowing that they provide medical, time off and educational reimbursement to their staff is huge. The Dicks Deluxe is 2 thin patties of meat with toppings and cheese. This is a filling burger that works for lunch or a snack. The milkshakes here do not disappoint and are a fairly good value. Areas that I wish Dicks would change is their soda is very overpriced. $1.60 or so gets you a soda that is about the size of a small at other chains with no refills. Food-- The burgers can sometimes be just little-bit on the dry side, but they're still pretty tasty and are a great value for the price. Nothing exotic, just a good honest burger. Yes, you can get cheese but that's about as dressed-up as it gets, and really, you wouldn't want more on this. The fries are fresh, hot, and really nice. I compare them (favorably) to In-n-Out's fries. Similarly, you need to eat them when they're fresh and hot--then they're delicious. Wait ten-minutes to gnosh on them and they're just not so great--but that's the way fresh good fries work (they're for now, not later). Experience-- Service is fast, efficient, and friendly. Access and parking is easy. You'll need to take the food away or eat it in your car. Pro tip: Dick's used to be cash only, but they now take plastic. There is a guy that works at this Dick's location that always treats me with the utmost respect. I think this is the 3rd time I've been rung up by him, and every time, his respect has been beyond consistent. He literally puts his hands in the prayer position and slightly bows when he says "thanks". I mean... come on! Amazing. But today was particularly special because I was having a rough day and on a whim decided that some Dick's would help me out. But what I received was much more than a cheeseburger and fries. I couldn't even find the words to ask him what his name was because I knew that at that moment, all that would come out would be tears. His kindness was demonstrated by such a small gesture-- it was probably just as easy as it is to blink or breathe for him, but it held a lot of weight. He needs to be in upper management immediately. What's not to love about Dick's? It's a quality, locally owned and operated hamburger joint. On this particular night, we visited two locations. The first location we visited on Holman road crowded with people waiting to order. This Lake City location was on our way home, so we took our chances and traveled to it. We were pleasantly surprised to find the lines pretty short here. Before we ordered, I had to use the restroom. In the evenings you have to ring the bell before entry, presumably to keep out the riffraff​. Upon entry, I was SHOCKED at how clean and well appointed the restroom is. In this sort of place,​ you expect a poor restroom experience, but Dick's seems to take a lot of pride in their establishments, which is reflected by the overall cleanliness of the grounds as well as the bathroom. ​ A pleasant lad swiftly greeted us in a newly opened window. I ordered a Deluxe for myself and a shake for my son. The food came quickly and was perfectly prepared. I love that they take ApplePay so I can pay with my Watch. So much better in just about every way than the Shake Shack we visited recently. This Dick's is one of the best managed because of the clean grounds and consistent quality. Food is classic fast-food, with thin burgers and patties carelessly slapped one-on-top-of-the-other. Fries are decent, though definitely middle of the road in the grand scheme of overall fry quality. Milkshakes are terrible, and the chocolate milkshake tasted like cold chocolate soy milk (I would know, I drank chocolate silk for a week straight when I was much younger), with no real texture, viscosity, or special flavor. When we went there, the manager demanded that we hand back the food we received briefly because of an error on the restaurant's side (it wasn't processing CC information correctly, and it was apparently that this was happening at each stall). They have a limited menu that stays absolutely consistent no matter what stand you are at. Make sure you bring cash with you because they don't accept check or plastic but it will be with your time to stop at the ATM. Hamburger, cheeseburger, Dick's Deluxe or a special. Fries and soda or milkshake. That concludes the menu. My one and only complaint is that they make you purchase condiments and the serving size is small. I haven't been to a Dick's Hamburger in several years and wanted to see if the same quality was still present. Prices were great for menu items and the wait was minimal even though it was the lunch hour and there were significant people already lined up at four open windows. The deluxe burger with a drink was my selection and I was not majorly disappointed. The soda tasted a bit different and the process of paying was slightly complicated due to the use of a credit card sliding machine that wasn't present the last time I visited the place. My suggestion is to pay cash, know what you want before you approach the window, and make sure not to wait to eat your meal after leaving the parking lot. Actually went to this place last night after meeting with my wife's nephew who lives in the area. I was actually going to the Space Needle area to find an all-night grocery store to get some healthy snacks.....of course as I was heading back to the I-5 I saw this and then immediately pulled in.....oohhhh the undeniable power of impulse! Ordered a couple burgers and fries for consumption once i made it back to my hotel and surprisingly even after a microwave heat up they were pretty good. They're ugly little things but tasty; not quite as tasty as my "BBF" (best burger franchise) favorite In-n-Out Burgers in Cali and the Southwest, but definitely more flavorful than most of the major burger chains. Hate to say this but it beat our own Burgerville (I'm keeping it real y'all!). Don't enjoy cheese that often, but they put thick slices on these burgers which are topped by a little lettuce, some pickles and mustard. Fries seemed fresh cut and were nothing special but nothing distasteful either. One critique, I had to pay for catsup....never had to do that before and found that a little bit....well.....cheap. Otherwise decent burger, low cost, and I felt like I was supporting a local chain. Been about 29 years in my college days since I had a Dicks burger so I had high hopes. Unfortunately I doubt I will be back. Service -marginal. Did not get the fries I ordered. Even worse is that the burger can not be modified. If you don't like mayo then too bad. Mustard is an additional nickel and you get a packet that you have to add yourself. Shake - pretty good and a good value. Burger- below average although a good value. Not hot at all so has been sitting around. Inability to modify is an issue for me. Will probably not be back. I'm going to go in a slightly different direction for this review. First, being from Los Angeles I have to compare it to In-N-Out. For a late night fast meal it's pretty comparable to In-N-Out, as long as you like the default condiments. If the burgers don't come already the way you prefer In-N-Out is better hands down. So if you can deal with the lack of customization it's a solid cheap burger. Moving on, I was shocked by the cleanliness of the restrooms. You have to remember this is a place with public restrooms, in Seattle. I was completely shocked to walk in and see it was not completely destroyed, these have to be the cleanest public restrooms within 100 mile radius of Seattle. I can only imagine how well the rest of the place is ran if management was able to pull off this small miracle. read more

This is definitely my favorite burger in Seattle. It's quick , cheap and simple. They don't let you modify your burger but you have to respect that it's to keep orders moving quickly and I like it the way they serve it. I love eating here because it's simple and no BS/gimmicks. The deluxe is a classic and the best bang for your buck: two patties, pickle relish sauce, lettuce and cheese. Another recommendation is to order a plain cheeseburger + fries. Open the top bun and dump the entire bag of fries onto the burger. it's amazing. If you like crispy fries well you'd better pass because the fries here are pretty greasy and limp but they taste good. If you like onions or condiments don't forget to order them, they're only .05c each. oh and the maple walnut sundae with hot fudge is all that you need in life Dicks has pretty limited locations but I don't think the goal of the original owner was to become an in-n-out equivalent. You can tell this place has barely changed over time and refused to spread farther than the handful of locations around Seattle. This is a guilty, rarely indulged pleasure. I have an athletic tween who is never full: while I mainly lovingly prepare organic, whole grain, free range, mostly vegetarian cuisine--it is worth noting two cheeseburgers, fries and a half a milkshake quickly satisfies an often hungry tummy. I guess everything in moderation--and this is the best place in Lake City or North Seattle to indulge in fast food. Super friendly and fast service. Food always comes out hot; fries not overly salty and no weird/oil slick feeling or after taste like chain fast food. (You could serve these fries with the best of them--they are delicious). I wouldn't dare compare it to In-n-Out or Shake Shack--but I enjoy a nibble off the tweens hamburger in the same way I enjoy burgers from the other two rivals (not on par, but as good). Price is right and employees paid (relatively) well. If all you / your tween want is a hamburger and fries--this is the place to go!
