Hands down the best restaurant in Plymouth! The food is divine and drink options are impressive.

You can see why locals love this place, although it's quite small so on a crowded night like tonight, there can be a bit of a wait for a table. As an out of towner, Dillon's offered exactly what we needed: a good meal at a good price. We had some chicken fingers and burgers for the kids, salads and the veggie risotto for the adults. Everything was delicious, although the risotto needed a bit more salt and seasoning to it. Service was excellent, ambiance was nice. We would return on our next trip to Plymouth. read more

A British/Irish pub, I managed to get here during a brief lull and was immediately sat at the hightop by the bar. Great and attentive service, she took my drink and food order and was prompt and friendly. I had a Guinness (how could I not?) with their Shepherd's Pie. It looked like it was going to be mostly mashed potatoes but no, underneath was a good portion of flavorful ground beef mixed with vegetables. It was just out of the oven as it was super hot. Dillion's Local has awesome food. Tonight, the adults feasted on a crock of French onion soup, burrata salad, shepherd's pie, and the meatloaf platter. The kiddo had the shepherd's pie with a generous side of green beans. A few draughts of Guinness, a few glasses of the house cabernet, and copious glasses of water for the designated driver and the kiddo slaked our thirst. To top it off, the kiddo ordered the homemade peanut butter cup (a surprise departure from the classic vanilla creme brulee). We loved everything. The next time we come, I want to try the Portuguese cod and the scallops. My favorite kiddo wants to sample the California club sandwich. read more

I discovered Dillon's a week ago, 3 visit in a week, 1st take out experience. Well I loved my 1st two visits, friendly staff. I've order the Caesars salad with steak tips, salad and tips were spot on. So much so that tonight I decided to try the steak tip dinner because they were so good. My dinner was $ 42 and the salad w/ tip was $28ish both with tips. I don't tip alot of take out, but knowing how good the tips are and two positive experiences in a week I gave a 20% tip for me to walk in. I get back to my hotel beat, I've been here for 15 days , 7 to go. I got more tips on my salad then I did in my meal. The tips on the salad were really nice size and 4 of them, the tips in the meal were 1/2 the size on 2 and the other two 2/3rds the size. Still really disappointed. I also had the clam chowder, I would pass on that but I did have a Portuguese kale soup that was fantastic. Anyways I'm here for another week at least I venture to other places in Plymouth for dinner. I guess my point is , Great place you should be better then that whether dine in or take out. Been hesitant to write a review about Dillons because I got a weird, unwelcome vibe the second I stepped into the restaurant. After standing around for 5-10, we just kinda sat at the bar. The bartender was a pretty nice guy, food came out fast. They claim to have local scallops but the fisherman who sat next to me told me that was a lie.. scallops aren't local. This is a cute place that we'd heard great things about. The parking lot is small! My mom and I went for dinner. The benches on both sides of the booth felt/sounded a little unstable. I'd ordered the short rib grilled cheese because it sounded delicious and the pics on the reviews made it look so good. Unfortunately, the outside tasted like old grease left on the griddle. The inside combination of cheese plus a fattier meat made this inedible. It needed something like an Au jus or a sauce as well. The meat lacked flavor. I ended up sending it back, which I almost never do at a restaurant. The salad also tasted weird, like a pre-mixed bagged salad. My mom got a pizza and it was pretty good. Nothing special but a simple, properly cooked pie. I got the Shepard's Pie to replace the sandwich. It was quite good. The potatoes could have been a little browner on top but the flavor was tasty. Our server was incredible and one of the better servers I've had anywhere. She dealt with the sandwich issues in such a professional way. I'm not sure we'd give this another try if we visited Plymouth again. If I did go again, I would reorder the Shepard's Pie. read more

September 2023-Don't miss this small local place for great food. There is limited parking but within walking distance of street parking. They have a large bar and booth seating. We didn't have to wait long since it was off season. We both began with the clam chowder. The clams were shredded which we had never had and it made the chowder lovely. Best we had on our vacation. I got the a cod fish Reuben on grilled marble rye bread. It had thousand island dressing and was served with coleslaw and skin on fries. Their dill pickles were homemade. My husband got the brisket grilled cheese with tater tots. It's served with brown gravy to dip the sandwich in. The sandwich was overloaded with brisket, so very filling. This was a great stop after watching the parade. We were quickly seated and informed of a 90 minute maximum table time. It was nice and toasty inside. We ordered a Reuben, chicken pot pie, and steak and cheese sandwich. The reuben was delicious. 5/5. They put a good amount of meat on it and it was very flavorful. I had it with extra thousand island on the side. Just a heads up, they charge 55 cents for each additional dressing. The server did not mention this when we ordered and stated after we got the bill that "well we have to pay for it so there's a cost." The chicken pot pie was tasty and served with a large side of mashed potatoes. 4/5. The steak and cheese sandwich lacked presentation and flavor. However, we ordered with sweet potato fries which were delicious. Overall, we give the sandwich a 2/5. read more

When we were trekking around Plimoth Patuxet Museum (formerly Plimoth Plantation) that morning, I was thinking about a cold glass of Chardonnay at Dillon's. We were greeted warmly & chose our table. My husband had the Cape Cod Reuben & I had Fish Tacos with a House Salad. Excellent! My husband had a beer & I had Chardonnay. Molly T was our server & she was a very lovely & charming young woman! Went to Dillon's Local, for the first time, 10/2/25 before a show at Memorial Hall next door. Wanted to sit at the bar, but it was full at 5pm on a Thursday. Dining room pretty packed, also. We were seated in a small quiet back room. Drinks were fine, we got nothing mixed, just a wine and whiskeys. Food was outstanding. We had southwest egg rolls, chicken cordon bleu, a chicken sandwich, and a bread pudding. I could see the kitchen from my seat, and these guys were working hard, cranking out the food, including to-go orders. Waitstaff promptly delivered food; I think 3 different folks delivered our courses. So the wait wasn't long. But the food all tasted fresh and was well prepared. We're not exactly local, but when we are in Plymouth, this will now be our go to spot. Nice, comfy, tavern like place. I was a little confused by 4$ upcharge for 2 whiskeys neat, but ok. It was explained to me it's cuz the pour is bigger. I'm used to that for a martini or manhattan, but never seen it for a neat pour. Too, my 1st was 1/2 the pour the second was, so it seems a little off to me. But a minor quibble, to be sure. Definitely won't keep me from coming again. Plymouth is a town I really enjoy visiting especially in the fall when the crowds are gone. There are so many places to eat and most have always been just all right. Dillon's Local was a stand-out! Cozy, clean and a very pleasant atmosphere. Great selection of local draft beer. Service could not have been friendlier and efficient. The food was amazing. My only complaint is up charging for cheese on a burger is ridiculous. But at the end the burger was really good.

I cannot believe I just tried this place for the first time yesterday! From the second we walked in until the moment we left, our experience here was terrific. It's rare that I don't have any critiques for a place, but Dillon's did not disappoint me in any way! Our waitress was kind and knowledgeable, the service was fast, and any modifications to drinks and food were exactly as requested. The menu selections were unique, and I highly recommend the shepherd's pie croquettes to start. We got the Guinness Fish & Chips + the Cajun Chicken Pasta for the main course, and both were absolutely delicious. Last but certainly not least - the cost of the meal was more affordable than a lot of other local venues. With 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, 3 mixed drink, and 1 glass of wine - it was only a bit over $100-ish and we felt that was very fair price wise. We will 100% be coming back here! :) read more

Dillons Local This is a very long over due review! We visited this spot in Dec 2017. Came here on a whim because almost everything was closed. Very thankful we did because it ended up having a "back home" flare! I'm a native from Coral Gables, Florida and live in North Miami. Some items on the menu alluded to Cuban cuisine. The Shepard's Pie Croquetas, Mojo Pork Tacos & Cuban Sandwich were all tell-tale signs of some Cuban influence! The croquetas DID NOT disappoint they are a must order item! I had the Cape Cod Reuben & my husband had the Guinness Fish & Chips. Both were pretty darn good! We also ordered the Clam Chowder & Pumpkin Squash soup - oh my! The Fried Calamari was also fresh and delish! And my daughter DID NOT complain about her hot chocolate! All in all it was a very exceptional experience that I can still recall 3+ years later!!! Nice restaurant well located for access to the Plymouth tourist sites and parking was easily available. My wife had the eggs benedict, while I had the Irish breakfast. She was very happy with her choice and appreciated having the sauce on the side. The breakfast potatoes were great, crispy with no hint of grease. My breakfast highlight was the black and white pudding, which is difficult to get in US. Scrambled eggs were nice, soda bread helps fill any last gaps in the appetite. I would have preferred English/Irish bacon and the sausages were OK but not exactly like the bangers I prefer. Prices were reasonable ($35) and service was friendly and efficient. The outdoor deck is small but accommodating The inside of the restaurant is like an ordinary pub not my favorite, needs better decor Staff is cool a little cold at first. We were in Plymouth for lunch and this place showed up as one of the top seafood restaurants. It turned out this wasn't really a seafood restaurant and more like a New England pub which was a pleasant surprise. Though there wasn't much seafood on the menu we ended up ordering three seafood dishes, Clam Chowder, Risotto with Shrimp & Scallops and Portuguese Cod. I did not like the Clam Chowder because it was unusually sour but my wife liked the change. However the Risotto and Portuguese Cod were excellent, far exceeding our expectations. The restaurant is popular, so be prepared for a bustling environment. Unfortunately, our payment experience wasn't ideal - there seemed to be some confusion with newer payment methods. Overall, we'd still recommend it for the food. read more

My friends and I visited on July 29th for a late lunch at the bar. The bartender was friendly and knows how to make a drink. I had the Dillon Colada that was amazing and my friend had the espresso martini which she loved. We shared the pretzels and Shepard pie pizza. I really enjoyed my visit here. I got the fish tacos and they were quite big. With steak fries which I adore and you can't find them very often anymore. The service was friendly and welcoming so (I was surprised reading some of the comments about only the locals being greeted warmly. I am about as unlocal as you can get considering I live in Europe. My server's name was either Kate or Liz and she was wonderful. One suggestion - the pineapple salsa for the tacos? More pineapple, less onions and peppers please. Or change the name. read more

I've had a lot of Fish and Chips around the California and Oregon coasts and Florida. This is the best Ever. Big price of fresh Cod fried to a dark crunchy hot until I was Finnished.
