The waitress packs your food quickly and your are out the door before you know what hit you. There is no seating and that's fine in these pandemic times because you still receive your dimsum. We ordered sticky rice, shrimp ball, pot stickers, egg rolls, turnip cake, egg tart and chow mein all for $25! Everything was piping hot and very fresh. The sticky rice was addicting and a nice size with meats and rice combo together. The egg tart crust is thicker but the filling warm and slightly sweet. The crispy egg rolls were light and crunchy and you cannot stop with just one. The only thing I thought that could have done better was the chow mein as it bordered on a little bland. Cheap and filling. Shrimp dumplings have a lot of shrimp for just $0.90/piece. Shumai are filling and meaty. The steamed buns are fresh. The baked buns are light and fluffy. The fried footballs were little too greasy and didn't have much filling but the crispy texture and mochi-like sweentess and chew on it was great. Egg tarts are pretty solid. Turnip cakes are a go-to. I love good, cheap food, so this place is a guiltless meal. For $10, both my friend and I were fed and satisfied. We did have coffee beforehand, and I was not feeling particularly hungry, but that's a cheap meal. They do have a credit card charge for purchases under 10$ though so it's worth it to get a couple extra dumplings or baos to take home. Pro tip: ask for both the soy sauce and hot sauce to mix together for dipping. It's a world of difference having those condiments versus just eating the dimsum plain. They charge 25 cents for each, and if you're going to complain about the fact they charge 0.50$ for sauce just don't go out to eat in the first place. Dim Sum King is definitely the place to go if you need your dim sum quick and it's especially useful for takeout! I appreciate being able to order individual items of certain dim sum dishes like your typical ha gow, siu mai, fun gor, etc - if you just want a couple of each. This place has all your typical selections and it also does have porridge and chow mein, it is missing those special dishes like the chicken feet and tripe, but that's okay. I would have to say the quality of the food is okay - it really depends on when you go if you get a fresh batch. if you come on a less busy day, pros are there is no line and you are served right away and you can think about what you want without feeling rushed, but the con is sometimes the food has been sitting out for a while so it will be lukewarm when you get it. On the busy days, the food is definitely fresher as there is higher turnover. One great tip is to fill out everything you want on the order form they have up front! If there's a long line, grab one and look at the chalkboard menu to make your selection - that way you can order exactly what you want without having to figure out what you're looking at when you're ordering up front. I got called and got take out at dim sum king as I was living in a hostel nearby in Chinatown. I ordered over the phone for myself and ordered way too much food (around $45 worth of Dim Sum). The Shrimp dumplings were delicious and had a great bounce, the Shu mai also were delicious. The chicken feet were soft and tasty and I easily finished all 10 myself. The chicken bao was my favorite, they added shiitake mushrooms which gave a great umami taste. The BBQ pork buns were traditional but not my personal favorite, had a bit of a funky pork taste. The baos were on the heavier side in terms of the breading compared to the filling. The baked bbq pork buns had some filling as streamed bbq pork buns but bigger in size. Cheapest and dare I say BEST dim sum in the Seattle International District. Definitely a mom and pop shop that I fully support and 2020 was unfortunate for them as it was for many. The dim sum ordering isn't your usual auntie driving a cart but more like order ala carts. Grab an ordering sheet when you enter and fill in how many of EACH you would like. No not multiples of 2.3,or 4, but ONE. Great for a party of 1 to still get the full variety of dim you normally get with a big family. Shu mai is my favorite, juicy and delicious. The rice in a leaf wrap is a good pairing but can be heavy for 1 person! Congee is also an option if you need a carb! It's the century egg style, add some hot oil and yum. The football is perfectly fried, yes greasy, but SO GOOD if you need a cheat day. Before COVID if you dined in there are sauces free of charge. For togo it is 25 cents for hot oil and soy sauce to help with the package cost. Bring cash! Summary: Decent dimsum in Chinatown if you're in a pinch, otherwise go down the street to Jade Garden. While Jade Garden is well-regarded as the standard when it comes to dimsum in the Emerald City, I decided to branch out and give Dim Sum King a try. The service is quick, as you fill out an a la carte ordering menu and hand it to a worker at the counter who will fill your order right in front of you. I ordered an assortment of shrimp dumpling, sui mai, steamed bbq pork bun, lotus leaf sticky rice, custard bun, and egg tarts. While everything was decent nothing stood (aside from the sui mai that was decent) and the overall quality was less than Jade Garden or even Harbor City. I had been to Dim Dum king ages ago but it didn't quite catch my attention back then. Having told by a foodie that they had frozen dim sum for sale, I tried it out one more time. My taste buds were quite happy. Since I steamed them at home, they were nice and hot. Shumai were meaty , pork was tasty and had a very QQ (bouncy) texture. The juice in the shumai accentuated the one bite experience. The shrimp dumplings (ha gau) were also very good. Shrimp was bouncy and the skin had pretty good texture tough it was on the thick side. Great dim sum for folks who wanted then 'steam at home' experience. The area for improvement is the use of MSG. It's a bit on the heavy side to my tasting. This hole-in-the-wall, all-day, pay-per-piece, walk-in/take-out dim sum is da best place ever! I don't even think Google Maps knows it exists! Dim Sum King is definitely not the highest quality, nor is it the cleanest, nor are the staff the friendliest (they just wanna get you in and out as quickly as possible!), but you get what you pay for, the servings are large, and the convenience factor is key. At an average of $0.70-$0.80 a piece, you can get a fairly decent-sized meal for ten bucks. My go-to items are shu mai, har gaw, shrimp rice noodle roll, chicken feet, sticky rice dumpling, egg custard bun, and egg tart. Sometimes I opt in for a baked or steamed cha siu bao, or sticky rice cake if I'm realllllly treating myself. The best part about Dim Sum King is that they are open and serving until 6pm daily! Since I work downtown, I just hop on the bus after a long day at work and head straight there -- they will usually have run out of most things, but will almost always have shu mai and har gow (and whatever else hasn't sold out yet) packed and ready to go. I can take it home, make a tiny pot of white rice, and BAM! Dinner for one without the hassle. If you're heading there on a weekend morning, expect a line out the door... Perfect for the individual or small groups who want to enjoy a little dim sum, but don't want to commit too much. You can easily call in your order and pick up, or stand in line and fill out a order checklist / sheet. They package your items once you get to the front of the line and take credit cards as well. These are hard working people so service is not always friendly and sometimes they can get a little bit snappy if you don't fill out your tip / or sign your receipt fast enough. But overall they just don't want to cause further delay to the customers in line, so I get it. Its a grab and go establishment, don't ask too many questions, select your items and be on your way to enjoying delicious dim sum. This does also include the dumpling items which are typically sold in an order of three or four at other places. I got a lunch plate which included fun gor, shu mai, sticky rice dumpling, turnip cake and a baked BBQ pork bun which came out to the paltry price of just under $6 after tax. You would be hard pressed to spend over $10 on a meal here. As far as the taste of the dim sum goes, I really liked the fun gor (chiu chow dumplings). These are the little football shaped dumplings if you are unfamiliar. I liked them better than the shu mai which seemed to be in the steamer for too long. The fun guo seems to be less prone to this problem. They taste good cold or warm. The other items were pretty solid. Particularly the baked BBQ pork bun and sticky rice dumpling. The latter being quite filling. I have typically gone to Duk Li for my takeout dim sum fill, but my experience at Dim Sum King makes me want to give them consideration the next time I get that urge. A good dim sum restaurant is quite hard to find in Seattle. Went to Dim Sum King because it was fast and at a convenient location. Not particularly a good dim sum experience. Most of the items were cold or lukewarm. Shrimp rice noodle rolls are formed from a long rice noodle sheet that is then wrapped around a filling of barbecued pork, beef, shrimp, or mushroom. They seemed to make them fresh but the layers were so thick and mushy. I showered rice rolls with sweet soy sauce because rolls were tasteless. Steamed big chicken bun was huge but airy. Wow I am surprised that I have never heard of this place before! My friend and I really wanted Dim Sum in Chinatown (most of the dim sum places stop serving at 3pm) and we walked pass by this place and decided to give it try since the fellow yelpers' reviews are decent. I would say that I would love to come back again to try this place! It is very cheap and you can try a variety of dim sum based on your preference. I have never been to any other dim sum place that sells dim sum based on individual pieces so I dont think this is a bad idea at all! Sometimes I go to other dim sum restaurants in Chinatown and I may not be able to eat the whole dish. So this place/ordering system definitely avoids any food wasting. They pretty much have all dim sum baked/made already and good to go so there is basically no wait time to get your dim sum. I would recommend just sit down and eat the food in the store instead of taking out because to-go box costs you extra! The only downside I would say is that some food have already been made some time when my friend tried out this place in the mid-afternoon; so some food items we ordered were rather cold -- where they are supposed to be freshly made and warm. If I come back again, I will probably try it out in the mid-day when its been freshly made so the food isnt too cold. so am taking out one star for some cold food item and also the inconveniences of paying with cash/credit card because the minimum to pay with credit card is $10.
