Cute little diner with a 50s theme. The place is clean, fun, and inviting - great vibes, fun props, and not pretentious. The waitress was very sweet and attentive, great service. A decent-size menu with both savory and sweet options. Cute mismatched mugs for your coffee gave it a little home-y feel. Our food was delicious, no complaints! I ate the Molcajetes for breakfast this morning at Diner 50 & it was REALLY good!! It was served sizzling hot & tasted great! The servers were very nice too!! Wow! Cant believe how horrible the food was for the price. The biscuits and gravy were runny and bland. The corn beef hash was canned the potatoes were French fries cut into smaller pieces to pass as "breakfast potatoes" and just the cherry on top to this horrible experience was as soon as we walked out our clothes smelled like I worked a 10 hr shift on the fryer. They also have a cat rescue next door that some how associated with the diner. read more

Went here with my 2 little ones and sister. We're trying out new spots in phoenix and was amazed by the reviews! We took a stop and I'd say the kids portions, amazing! Now I got the burger, it was great, the fries? A zero, SUPER salty and flimsy was not a fan. My sister got the asada bowl and per our discussion and taste it was very oily but eatable. Well where do I start with this hidden little gem, I really appreciate the customer service that was given by the gentleman that served us and the lady working that morning! Both were welcoming and very attentive. I ordered the oatmeal and fresh fruit bowl for the fruit, my stomach was not feeling to great that morning so I was trying to get something not too heavy for my stomach which this was perfect. My partner ordered the BLTA Sandwich W/ Fries which were both amazing, the fresh cut fries were amazing and the sandwich was perfectly toasted! What an amazing find! I was in my way back from a job site and there was traffic so I wanted to stop for breakfast. Walked into this cute retro diner and was pleasantly surprised! Their food is good, but even better they have a cat rescue next door! You can see the baby kitties through the French doors! If you ask really nicely, the owner will even let you come in there and pet them. Be careful though, one of them may want to adopt you! If you don't feel up to adopting, they also accept donations. Totally worth the stop! I will be bringing my daughter next time. read more

Adrianna was very friendly and offered great suggestions. First time having molcajete for me and the spicy red version was amazing! Not spicy as in overwhelming heat which ruins many meals, but spices adding levels of flavor the entire meal. The chicken, beef and nopalitos were so tasty. Waffles came out crispy and tasty as well. Went in for a later breakfast at 11:30 and made a U-turn for the Friday Fish Fry. It was very good, one big piece of lightly fried Bass and comes with fries along with soup/salad. Very friendly and clean diner. I'll soon go back for my breakfast. read more

Went on a Saturday morning and they were busy! But service was very good, somehow, with so many tables for one waitress and one drink server. Breakfast was good. Not over priced. And coffee was...get this...cause even places like First Watch can't do this...coffee was hot! Enjoyed the make your own omelette and lots of ingredients to choose from...even green chili sauce. Just had the Best bacon cheeseburger with seasoned fries at this cute little diner. Decor is cool with the classic diner feel. I wish I had a picture of my plate but took one look and all I was thinking was " oh man" and ate it all up. Service is super friendly and made me feel at home. If you're look for fresh home cooked meals this is the place to come. I went to black bear and the presentation was nice but the potatoes were raw and under cooked and hard. I've been coming here for years and I've never been disappointed in my meals. They are on time polite, courteous. The place is a small family friendly neighborhood 50 style restaurant that's always clean and on top of things. They check on their customers to make sure we're ok and our orders are good to go weather we are dining in or out. They double check everything. I love love the decor you wont see anything like it anywhere in Phoenix. Its retro 50's and it takes you back to the good old times way better the black bear ( never going there again), IHOP, denny none of them compare to diner 50. So we went there TWICE over this past weekend to see our Chicago cubs play the DBacks. And we came across Diner 50 when we were looking for breakfast in the area. Luckily it was about 4 minutes from our Airbnb and it was super easy to find! When we walked in it literally was like walking into the past! Loved all the decorations and atmosphere! Our servers were literally the best and gave their recommendations and we followed in their footsteps and had the best food while visiting Phoenix! i went here about 3 weeks ago with my boyfriend and it was the most amazing experience we had! when we first came in we were greeted and sat immediately, then our sweet server let us know about the cats they rescue and have up for adoption. We got our food immediately and it was delicious!! When i tell you this was the most beautiful room for the cats i have seen it was, bless these people! I'm a college filmmaker, and we shot a music video here for class. It was an incredible experience! After looking at most of the diners in Phoenix we decided to shoot here because it was the most authentic retro vibe that we could find. There are so many unique decorations that look straight out of the 50s! On top of that they were incredibly easy to work with and helped us with whatever we needed to get our project completed. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who loves that retro era! read more

After we arrived in Phoenix we were so hungry. We found Diner 50 on the yelp search and decided to eat there. Adri was absolutely amazing In making us feel welcome, providing everything we requested, and getting all 8 orders absolutely perfect. We had the most amazing food and it was just Adri and the cook that helped to prepare the food that made it all happen. Fantastic place! On a recent roadtrip we searched for "breakfast" and found Diner 50. Went there, not knowing anything about it. Imagine our surprise when we found the cat rescue! I didn't know what I was feeling like when I arrived from pizza, mac & cheese, burgers, sandwiches...I ended up choosing a gyro. It was big and filling, though tasty, it was similar to other restaurants and nothing too special but it still was good. As I often crave different things, I will certainly try something different on my next visit. Other dishes that sound appealing include a Philly cheesesteak, a Chicago hot dog, a half dozen wings, a small pepperoni pizza, mozzarella sticks, cheese curds, mini pancakes, or a chocolate shake to name a few. While I'm not sure that the food is too healthy, it's got to be okay to splurge on calories every now and then. There are fun neon lights on display above the drink station and the cash register. There are skateboards on the ceiling. There are many snacks and different types of drinks on display to purchase. There is seating inside (plenty!) and outside (a few seats). The owner seemed to be hard at work on a ladder but the staff were there and very kind and helpful. I even saw a colleague of mine come in afterwards (though he has been there before). The meat is clearly pre-packaged, not made in house. The lettuce was wilted and wet, like it had been sitting for a while. The rice wasn't bad but definitely had reheated vibes. The pita was probably the only component that was presented well. I also ordered the deep fried Snickers, and it was a letdown. Instead of fried, it came out heated -- microwaved, I'd guess -- so the batter was soggy. Not what you'd expect from something as deep fried. There may be better items on the menu, but based on what I ordered, it was a disappointment. I wish that weren't the case.
